Ashlee moved away from every painful event of her past. She was happy in Wilson Creek, at least as much as possible. She wasn’t looking for relationships, wasn’t looking for a one-night stand, wasn’t looking for the turn events that throws her life into chaos. But it’s here and she has to overcome it. *** Michael hadn’t been back home once since he moved away for college. The small town, country lifestyle wasn’t exciting enough for him. And he didn’t like permanence anywhere. Going home to Wilson Creek is a huge step for him and his family knows it. What he doesn’t expect is the outcome of his choices that unravel his world, and there’s nothing he can do to change it. *** Will it be a one-night stand of unkindled love? Can they walk away unscathed? Or will Ashlee and Michael’s paths lead them to where they belong? With each other. In the end, they’ll have to give up everything they’ve worked for to face the changes in their lives. Can they do it together? Or will it cause them to fall apart?
K.R. Reese was born and raised in Ohio. Her love for reading started at an early age, and stuck as she grew older. It wasn't until high school that she became obsessed with her many ideas and began writing them down. Though she had a knack for writing, she didn't publish any of her work until 2016 which started her Wilson Creek Series. Since then, she's released another series, as well as many standalone books.
She still resides in Ohio with her husband, their four children, and the crazy family dog. When she isn't writing, she's spending time with her family, capturing many memories with her camera, or exploring her musical interests. She lives on iced coffee, is a concert junkie, and never stops working.
K.R. Reese’s Fall for Me starts at Ella and Trevor’s wedding where we meet Ashlee McCoy, Ella’s best friend and bridesmaid. Ashlee has recently settled in Wilson’s Creek to get away from a bad marriage. She’s finally gotten her life back and found a safe haven for herself. The last thing she wants is to fall for another bad boy who may or may not turn her world upside down if she lets him. Michael is Trevor’s hot brother who is warned to keep away from the beautiful Ashlee. She’s been through enough and doesn’t need her heart broken again. Michael is kind of a drifter and doesn’t stay in one place for long. He also isn’t looking for anything long term, yet he finds in Ashlee something he’s been longing for. These two have the kind of baggage that can ruin their future if they let it. They long for a love that could be possible if they would only put their past behind them. Talk about fools rush in, Ashlee and Michael’s story is a whirlwind of emotions. The story is a push and pull relationship that keeps you wondering if these two could finally find the happiness they both deserve. A sweet romance overall.
This book was sweet as much as it was a whirlwind of emotions. In this book, we are able to see a little bit more of Trevor and Ella, which I was grateful for as Ashlee is Ella’s best friend and bridesmaid while Michael is Trevor’s hot brother. Both personas had a lot of baggage going into this relationship, which should have probably made them a little more careful entering it so fully right of the bat. But they dove right in, living together quickly after. It felt organic though, so props to the author for making it believable. Both Michael and Ashlee deserved their own happily ever after even if it did take them awhile to get there. Total sweetness!!
Keep your eyes on the prize - it's definitely present in KL's writing and this book is one that will leave you on the edge of your seat with the shock and chaos that leads to some very intriguing drama. If you're a fan of stories that grip you and writers who have the capacity to pull you and never let go once they set their hook - This IS for you! Five huge and epic stars! <3
So truly human a love story. By the time we reach adult life patterns have formed. Scars from our youth. Coping mechanisms built into our daily life. How we manage to get past them enough to live is amazing really. Let alone form relationships with others.
This is the second book in the Wilson Creek series.
Ella is finally marrying Trevor and her bridesmaid Ashlee McCoy is ready to stand up for her. Ashlee came to Wilson Creek to help Ella take care of her children and help her recover from her injuries suffered at Jake's hands. Ashlee is looking for a fresh start in Wilson Creek and is not looking for any relationship.
Standing up for Trevor is his brother Michael who seems to have many ghosts in his past. Known as a womanizer he is warned to stay far away from Ashlee but it is apparent he was never good at listening.
As Ashlee and Michael begin a relationship it is clear that each have ghosts in their pasts that are ready to impact the future. Can the two work on things together to have a future together or will their stubbornness and independent nature make them better off apart?
I liked this book but I think I preferred book one more. I found the story lines almost too similar and that took away from the second story.
One thing I was initially confused about was why Brianne was one of the bridesmaids. That seemed to come out of nowhere after everything that happened in the first book and how there was nothing to say that her friendship with Ella had been resolved.
The relationship between Ashlee and Michael was so fast and volatile and the two just jumped into a relationship and living together before ever really getting to know each other. They fought so much and their relationship was so off and on that it just got tiresome.
I also didn't like how down everyone was on Michael - especially his family. After how his parents held Trevor in such a positive light in the first book they looked at Michael the opposite way and it was frustrating. I completely understood why he never wanted to come back to Wilson Creek. I found it also strange that their wasn't more clarification on what he actually did as an occupation besides a brief mention of him working with companies and why his name would be familiar to the press.
