The secret about the Birmingham Rebels is out: With a girl in the middle, two mouth-watering football studs are better than one.
Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.
ER nurse Jane Foster is done being a good girl, and nothing says wild like picking up two of football’s sexiest players and bringing them back to your hotel room. Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.
Sure, King has had his choice of girls and guys in the past. That doesn’t mean he’ll jeopardize his relationship with Sam over a case of locker-room lust—until a naughty nurse pushes them both out of their comfort zones. Seeing Jane and Sam together turns King on more than he ever imagined. If they’re game, he’s ready to tackle a three-way play.

Series: THE BIRMINGHAM REBELS BROTHERS IN ARMS THE SAINT'S DEVILS THE 93RD HIGHLANDERS MERCURY RISING
Jacked Up is book three in the Birmingham Rebels series by Samantha Kane. I’ve been enjoying this series from the beginning and this book fell right in with the first two. It was hot as heck, lots of fun with tons of dirty sexy talk, and also had a very sweet side. So, yeah, it was a hit for me!
It’s been a long time since Jane Foster has been with anyone, a very long time. She is a nurse and works crazy hours. She has always prided herself on being the “good” girl, the reliable friend. She follows the rules at all times. So, her friend, Margo, took her to the beach for the sole purpose of meeting and hooking up with some hotties. Margo, who I loved by the way, is so outgoing and flirty, things that don’t come easily for Jane, and has no problem meeting men. But Jane just seems to attract all the crazies. Such is the case when a very drunk guy is accosting her at the bar. And who comes to the rescue but two of the sexiest men she has ever seen.
“Just once she’d like to be the girl that guys like him wanted to take to bed. She might not go with them, but she wanted to be wanted.”
Both Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka play football for the Birmingham Rebels. They are best friends. Sam is a veteran. He had been drafted by the NFL just before he went in to the Army. He was injured by an IED and lost several members of his team. He has pretty severe PTSD. When he was out of the hospital, the Rebels picked up his contract. But he hasn’t been playing all that well. He still has so many memories haunting him.
King, who I want to say might be my favorite of these three, is a huge, 300 pound Samoan with beautiful eyes and skin like chocolate. This man, sigh, was like a huge teddy bear. He just melted me. Sam hasn’t been with a woman since he got out of the hospital, about two years, so King took him to the beach to find him a woman. It’s here they first saw Jane at the bar and stepped in to save her. King knew right away she was perfect for Sam.
These three did hit if off right away but what happened that night was supposed to be a one night stand so Jane let all her inhibitions go and let out her inner dirty girl sex goddess. Oh my gosh, she never even knew she had such a dirty side. Maybe it was just because she knew in advance she’d never see them again. Or so she thought.
A few months later, an injured little brother brings Sam and King to the hospital where Jane works and low and behold, there is the woman they haven’t been able to stop thinking about since that night. They are not going to let her get away again.
These three together were totally freaking steaming hot. What was so much fun is the shock Jane would feel at the things she would say when they were in the throws of passion. She would smack her hand over her mouth trying to stop the words from coming out. It was so cute. And there was something that happens in this book that I have been wanting to find in a book. I don’t want to say what it is but if you read this, then I’ll tell you. I just don’t want to spoil anything.
As I said, this was steaming hot and a lot of fun. I was a little frustrated with Jane at times. She wanted King and Sam so much. But her inner good girl kept telling her it was wrong. When she was with them, her fantasies would all come true. But then as soon as she was away from them, the guilt would kick in. She was so worried about the social repercussions.
There are a few really sweet moments as well. One particular moment when Sam had to speak publicly made my eyes get all watery. I just couldn’t help it. And again, King. Yep, he was pretty awesome.
So, you don’t have to start at the beginning of this series to enjoy it, but the whole series is awesome so I do recommend all of the books. But if you want to jump in with them out of order, that’s fine too. I hope you have fun!
I have been really enjoying this series so you can imagine how excited I was to get an ARC for this one. Some dancing around my home did take place. Unfortunately, this ended up falling a bit short of my expectations.
Let us start with what I did like. I love this author's writing style. It's light and flows really well. Her books are very readable and the plots easy to get sucked into. I love the secondary characters and their team interactions and look forward to more books featuring them. I enjoyed the sex scenes as well. And both King and Sam were very likable and great heroes.
So why 3 Stars?? The heroine was beyond annoying. I wanted to throat punch her pretty much through the whole damn book. Her back and forth freakouts and her personal slut shaming were way overdone. The word SLUT (or a derivative of) was used 26 times in this book. 99% of them coming from the heroine about herself after King, Sam and she had literally JUST finished having sex. If I had to hear one more time how she was a "good girl" but OMG she acted like a "slut", well let us just say my tablet was in danger of flying against the wall.
Ultimately for me, it was the heroine that let this book down and because of that, I can only give this one 3 Stars. That said I will continue reading this series and keep my fingers crossed that the next book works better for me.
Gah...i could rant over the many facts that didnt sit right with me...but i won't
I found a huge discrepancy in simplistic, almost childish-like writing style and the storytelling for that matter, and on the other hand a tendency to dwell upon serious issues such as sexuality (bisexuality), threesome as a way of lifestyle, PTSD, acceptance, stigma, shame...and so on...
It was just off...
It could have been an awesome book if the approach to the mentioned subjects was done in a more substantional way instead of presenting it like you would to a three year old.
Excluding the sex scenes that were hawt, per se but that wasn't nearly enough to put the "seriousness" of the whole package into the spotlight...
so hot!! ~~~~~~~~~~~ My brain still burns whenever I think about this sizzling hot story. Samantha Kane knows how to steam up those pages and this book is a spicy addition to the menage and m/m stories dreams are made of.
Following on the heels of her last book in the Birmingham Rebels series, Calling the Play, which was super hot too, this is one sports team you wish you could be in the locker room with every day! Sweaty hot muscular men matched with the perfect balance of a gal that can take them on. Who wouldn't dream about that? Well, in this book, (and the series) you can read about it!
Each book is a stand alone, so have no fears about locking yourself away from everyone for a few hours and delve into the fantasy world created by Samantha Kane. Make sure you have the fans running, coz you are going to need it!
Leigh's 5 star review After finishing Jacked Up, I felt flushed and in need of a cold drink and an NFL game to watch the hotties on the sidelines. I’ve been a fan of the first two books in the Birmingham Rebel’s series, but this one was my favorite by far. The men were huge, gorgeous and flawed, but were such softies on the inside, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
King and Sam were so different from one another, but they matched perfectly. King was the larger than life football player that was the center of attention. He hid an intelligent mind and soft heart beneath his Samoan island-boy exterior, but he was just the outgoing personality that a man like Sam needed to pull him out of his shell.
Sam, on the other hand, was the decorated vet that was having trouble integrating back into a normal routine after his time in the military. He was quiet and reserved and the perfect foil to King’s boisterous persona.
Alone, each of these men was drool-worthy and amazing. But together, these two were smoldering. First as best friends and then as lovers, I simply melted reading their story.
Jane rounded out the trio. I liked her and I enjoyed the three of them together. However, Jane was so concerned about what people would think when the supposed “good girl” entered into a menage relationship. What she failed to see was that the only ones who mattered were the two beautiful men that she found love with. Her constant insecurity did make me want to reach out and slap her a bit. But the three of them together were uninhibited and simply worked. They were good for one another and helped Sam heal.
I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about the premise. I liked it, but I wasn’t sure why one supposedly straight guy needed to have his best friend just sitting in the room while he had sex. But surprisingly to me, it worked. And it was hot!
Jacked Up needs to be put on your TBR list. Characters from the other books drifted in and out of the story, but this was about King, Sam and Jane. It was a stand alone where no prior knowledge of the Rebel’s series was needed to understand what was happening. It was sexy and raunchy and sweet, but most importantly, it was a lot of fun to read. They team dynamics and interactions were a blast, and I can’t wait for the next one in the series to find out what this big group of burly kinky players are up to next!
Paige's 3.5 review I like this series and was immediately drawn into Jacked up. The author created some pretty intense chemistry between Sam, Jane and King.
At first I wasn't sure how the author was going to make this menage work. I felt the chemistry and a relationship forming between Sam and Jane but I wasn't sure how King was going to fit into the dynamic. He felt like an after thought in the beginning. King finally makes his way into the relationship and it's explosive.
The down side of the book is there wasn't much to their story. Most of the book was steamy sex scenes between this trio. While I love a well written sex scene I was hoping for a little more. The group finally realized what they needed to make their relationship work but it took them until the end to figure it out.
I like the series and will continue to read more about the rebels. There are a few characters that I'm hoping end up with their own book.
eARC kindly provided to me by the publishers in exchange for an honest review.
When I received this eARC I was unsure I'd enjoy it. This is the first book I've read by this author. Also, with very few exceptions I know nothing about American football. Knowing that the airtime cost of advertisement during the Super Bowl is extravagant doesn't factor in to the probability of my enjoying this story. In the end I decided to give this book a try & I'm extremely happy I did. The author did a fantastic job distinguishing King's character from Sam's. They felt like two individuals. This is imperative when reading a story from 3 POVs. Obviously it's easy to tell when you're reading from Jane's POV being she is the only female but when you have two male love interest it can get confusing if not done well. Happily, I immediately knew when I was inside King's head vs. Sam. Another win for the author was I really liked the h. This is an important factor for me when rating a book. Samantha Kane's Jane is an independent, intelligent, well educated, woman. Her "issue" was an entirely realistic one for a female in today's society. All this combined not only made for a great story but for a plausible relationship. The author did an excellent job telling Sam, King, & Jane's story.
I recommend this story to any romance fans. This is a story about a MMF polyamourist relationship & everything that entails.
Simplistic writing and no depth in the story or the characters. I was bored and when I realized I didn't even want to read the sex scenes it seemed time to tap out. I didn't feel any connection between the characters emotionally, lot's of telling, no showing. And even from a smut level it didn't work for me. Lot's of "yes. yes, baby give it to me's" and lines like this "Lay back and spread your legs. I'm coming in.". *giant eye roll*
**ARC received through Netgally in exchange for an honest review**
This is the filthiest, most scorching hot piece of literary fiction I have read in quite some time ... Ya'll need to keep an eye out for January 31st!!
FINAL DECISION: My favorite book of the series. This one has a developing relationship between three people who have never had a menage relationship before but find themselves falling in love with one another.
THE STORY: Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are teammates on the Birmingham Rebels football team. Sam is a war veteran with PTSD and guilt from the death of his comrades and hasn't had sex with a woman since his return because he worries about his nightmares. King convinces Sam to break his celibacy and King agrees to stay in the room to make sure that Sam doesn't have an episode. The problem is finding a woman who would agree to such an arrangement. The two end up meeting Jane Foster, an ER nurse who has been the "good girl" all her life. When she meets Sam and King, she is attracted to both of them and decides to agree to their scheme to break her "good girl" mold. The night opens them all up to new possibilities.
OPINION: I really enjoyed this book. I really felt these three characters as they worked towards building a three way relationship. None of the characters had previously been in an menage relationship before and weren't looking for that when the book begins.
Each character has their own journey in the book as the trio winds their way towards a satisfying relationship. King is the most open to the idea of the menage. He is a big hearted friendly man. He is the most open sexually to the idea based on his past experiences. But even King has to work out the idea of what are the proper boundaries of a relationship with three participants.
Sam is quiet and closed in. He is trying to work through his issues and he finds that King and Jane balance him in different ways. While Sam has never had a relationship with a man, he begins to realize that his relationship with King is more than friendship. While Sam struggles with three problems (1) his PTSD and the fear that gives him for any relationship; (2) his attraction to King and (3) the menage.
Jane has her own struggles. She has classified herself as "good girl" and fears the idea of taking action that challenge that view of herself. Thus, even when she wants the menage relationship, she can't contemplate being involve with such a public relationship with these two famous men. She ends up being the catalyst in the relationship and brings all three players together.
I thought the baby steps that these characters have to take in defining what they want in their relationship was interesting and more realistic. There are many issues they have to navigate between them and I liked seeing them have to think about and address how the relationship is going to work. I thought this book addressed the complications well. The book could also be considered "beginners menage" and I liked seeing people work through the difficulties and complications.
WORTH MENTIONING: This is a true menage with MM, MMF and MF involved.
CONNECTED BOOKS: JACKED UP is the third book in the Birmingham Rebels series. This book can be read as a standalone but there are recurring characters.
Book three in the series however, I read it as a standalone and thought it was great! It’s a super hot, fun read that I couldn’t put down!
Jane Foster has always been the good girl that always follows the rules. She’s a nurse who doesn’t have time for a relationship and her friend Margo decides that what Jane needs is to get laid. So Margo drags Jane away from their town to a nearby beach to find Jane a hookup…. Or two. Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are bestfriends who both play football for the Birmingham Rebels. Sam used to be in the military and has a lot of issues resulting from his time deployed, very severe PTSD being the top of the list. King grounds him and keeps him sane. Sam hasn’t been with a woman since returning home from his deployment out of fear that he might have an “episode” and harm the woman. So, King “takes one for the team” by offering to be in the room when Sam “jumps back on the horse.” Now to find a willing woman… enter Jane Foster.
I have to say that this is definitely an original plotline, I found it enjoyable and at times hilarious. Though I think Jane and Sam are meant to be more main characters King was definitely my favorite. His sarcasm and brutal honesty had me cracking up on more then one occasion. This read is definitely a roller coaster, one that I didn’t want to get off. I look forward to book 4 in this series!

Jacked Up is the 3rd book of the Birmingham Rebels series. If you are familiar with the Birmingham Rebels you know them to be a less than typical football team that pushes all boundaries and don't shy away from publicly putting it out there. While this makes for a super sexy read that I enjoyed immensely I don't think it would necessarily fly in the real world. Hence my love for the escape into a fictional world of sexy football players that are free to be themselves with whomever they please as long as all parties are consensual. Before I go any further you should know this book is m/f/m. If that's not your thing then don't read this book. If it's a story you don't mind then buckle in for one heck of a ride. Samantha Kane has a gift for writing the hottest menage stories that work in a huge way.
Not only do Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka both play on the same football team, but they are pretty much inseparable off the field as well. Sam suffers from PTSD courtesy of his Army days and King seems to be the one that calms him and brings him a bit of the peace that he wishes he could find. Being the optimistic, loving life man that he is King has decided Sam needs to have a night with a woman to get him out of his own head. The problem is Sam is afraid to let himself go like that. He has flashbacks and is afraid he would accidentally hurt a woman. King's solution is to be in the same room and act as a guard just in case.
Reading this premise I thought there is no way this can work and not be icky. I mean how do you pick up a woman that you don't know and convince her right off the bat to not only have sex with you, a man she's never met, but to allow your friend to sit in the room and watch? These are big scary guys. So much of this could be the makings of a Lifetime mystery movie rather than a love story. I don't know how she did it, but Ms. Kane not only made this situation not creepy, but she made it hot, hot, hot!!!!
King was larger than life in all of his happy glory. My heart hurt for him that he hid such a big part of himself for so long in fear of hurting or losing his best friend. Sam was a tortured soul that you couldn't help but fall in love with. He was such a good man and felt things so deeply it made him second guess just about every move and feeling he had. I loved these men together and I loved them with Jane.
Jane was a whole nother ball of anxiety. I almost questioned how her and Sam could work being as neither of them could just let go and enjoy things. Don't get me wrong I understand where she was coming from. A relationship with not one but two hot, well known football players would make anyone take a step back, so I get it. King balanced them. That was the secret in making this whole situation work.
If you like a good menage story that has heart as well as heat this is the book for you.
3.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
I've read a few books in Ms. Kane's historical menage series (Brothers in Arms) and really enjoyed them, and this modern series is quite entertaining as well! It had some intriguing characters, a bit of depth (which is always nice for an erotica read), and obviously some hot sex. And I enjoyed the little glimpses of either past book characters, or potential next book characters in the series. It's always fun when a series follows a close knit group of characters, in this case all being involved in the same fictional NFL football team.
I adored King. I loved that he brought a little bit of diversity with his Samoan heritage, and I didn't feel as though he was a caricature. But he was so laid back and accepting, I just wanted to hug him for always thinking the right things and helping Sam and Jane get to the right places.
Sam was a bit up and down for me. I LOVED the military background story we got with him, and he was so damaged and vulnerable, but willing to make baby steps and try to change and grow and slowly embrace the changes. I loved some of his conversations with the team psych, Mark. Heck, I loved some of King's conversations with Mark too. But he just brought this book from normal erotica to something with more depth and interest, if that makes sense.
And then there's Jane. *sigh* She was a tough character to love, b/c she spent a lot of the book slut-shaming herself. And I really don't deal well with that, but it was kind of the topic of the book and something she was supposed to be learning to deal with and changing and growing about. But there was just so fricking much of it, it was hard to take. And it took her so long to learn, and I'm still not sure she really did and accepted it as much. For all that self-flagellation, I was hoping for more of an obvious breakthrough I guess. And other than that I'm not sure I really learned enough about her to like her a lot. Not that I disliked her, she just didn't make a big impression. Although I did love how she handled Sam, and his issues from the PTSD to being confused about being bi.
And now onto the major aspect of any good menage erotica: the steamy scenes!! And oh my gawd, they were a contradiction. They were sooooo hot sometimes, like really woosh. And then they would start talking. And quite frankly, the dirty talking just didn't work for me in this book. It might have been just me, but it was just too comical at times. I know it was supposed to be, but then it just felt forced to me. Like how I would sound dirty talking. Like from a script or something. It was just a personal taste thing. And it was pervasive through every steamy scene, so it was a mix of good and bad I guess.
So in the end it was a solid erotica, but the little things (like the dirty talking and the slut shaming) just have me rounding down instead of up this time.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book for exchange of an honest review.
I had no idea what this book was gonna be about. I never read the blurb about it. So let's just say I was a little shocked that it was a book about Jane with two hot football players instead of just one.
This book is basically watching porn except that it's written. I loved both male characters. Of course who wouldn't love a huge sexy Samoan as one of the main characters. Esp if your a Game of Thrones fan. And the other is hot ex-army guy.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didn't like Jane. She drove me completely nuts. She continuously kept referring to herself as a slut. And how guilty she felt for having sex with 2 guys. Just get over it.
I didn't read the previous 2 books in this series. But I may go back and read those. And I look forward to any additional books Samantha Kane may write. I will keep an eye out for more.

4.5*s of hot and horny sexiness!
This is the third in the series - and whilst you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, you would certainly get some of the tie ins if you do. Each book centres on a new relationship, but they continue to be mentioned in future books. The writing is smooth, and encourages you to turn just one more page, right up until the end.
We meet our trio on a trip in Atlanta. King has been trying to persuade his ex-army pal Sam to end his dry spell, but Sam is fearful of having a flashback, or moment which ruins the experience. King agrees to be there, if the woman agrees. He may have a secret crush on Sam, but he accepts this may be the only way to indulge it. The scenes at the beginning of the book are so effective at giving us an insight into these men, and also Jane, the woman with whom they choose to spend the night.
As the story unfolds, and the three of them meet again, the situation gets complicated to say the least. Jane has a normal, non-complicated past, and never expected to have a non-standard relationship. She does not deny the chemistry between them, but she is not sure that she can go as far as be open about their relationship. The shifting of hurt emotions between the three of them is affected by their family, their roles, and their current responsibilities - and gives us a very rich story. I loved her Mother's intervention in particular, but there are many side characters who influence them and their behaviour.
There is a good mix of sport, the issues arising from Sam's time in the military, Jane's conventional past and their hot, chemistry laden adventure together. I can't wait to see how things move forward once we get the next installment. There were all manner of hints as to who's turn it might be next, so I am very curious to find out!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
The Birmingham Rebels series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of all time.
In this installment, you have Sam who is suffering from PTSD and is afraid of hurting others when the dreams/nightmares/flashbacks overwhelm him. He hasn't been with a woman since before he was injured because he doesn't trust himself not to hurt the woman he's with.
His best friend from the Rebels, King, knows that Sam is hurting and is doing his best to help Sam live. His solution to one of Sam's problems - get him laid. And if playing voyeur to ensure Sam doesn't hurt anyone, so be it.
Jane is on a weekend trip with her cousin at the beach when she meets Sam and King. Hitting it off almost immediately, they return to her hotel and talk late into the night. When King explains Sam's issues (much to Sam's dismay), Jane's connection to Sam grows.
When Jane, Sam and King meet again, sparks continue to fly, not only between Jane and Sam, but between each of them, leading them to find love in unexpected places.
Jacked Up is book three in Samantha Kane's Birmingham Rebels series. I've been reading this series from the beginning and although I have enjoyed the other books, this is by far, my favorite! It was a fun read! Sweet, sultry, and oh so satisfying!! All of the books in this series can be read by themselves. But since its about a football team, the prior characters do make appearances, and there are references to their stories as well.
Jane Foster is a nurse and works long hours. She hasn't been with any man in a very long time. She's always looked at herself as the good friend-good girl-follows the rules type. Her cousin Margo talks her into a weekend to the beach to find someone to hook up with. Things aren't working well for Jane as she seems to attract the seedy type. When she's accosted by a drunk in the bar, the two most sexy guys she's ever seen, come to rescue.
Sam and King both play defense for the Birmingham Rebels. Sam is a veteran and was injured in an IED attack on his team. Some didn't make it. He's been working through his PTSD with no real help except for King, his best friend that lives with him. Sam was drafted prior to serving and once he was out, he went to play for the Rebels. With his memories plaguing him, his football is lagging.
King is a huge wall of a Somoan! He means business on the field, but is a teddy bear at heart! Sam hasn't been with any women since coming out of the service and King wants him to live life again! He takes him to the beach to find a hook up for Sam. Once they see Jane, King knows she's perfect for Sam.
After setting some ground rules, Jane and Sam do decide to have a one night stand and Jane lets her inner dirty girl out! She figures she'll never see them again right? She never even knew she had a dirty girl side and what comes out of her mouth surprises even her! Sam loves it!
A few months go by and King's little brother is in the hospital hurt. Sam and King come to see him there and find Jane there working. Neither can stop thinking about that night. They do not intend to let her get away again!
I totally enjoyed this book! I loved how the threesome ended up happening and that it wasn't really orchestrated to be that way in the beginning. I loved how Jane just turned into this sex loving, dirty girl, whose mouth had no filter! It surprises even her! The guys are all over it of course!
Yes they are sizzling together but reality has a way of intruding. Jane is having a real hard time reconciling that she enjoys two men. Her body says yes, but her head is thinking what's wrong with her. She's worried about society and that makes her feel guilty for what she likes. I felt bad for her.
Ultimately you have to decide for yourself what's important to you, and that nothing else matters in the big scope of things. Jane needed to work through that and both Sam and King had to as well. In the end, we are treated to a hopeful ending that was in tune with the story! I highly recommend reading Jacked Up and the entire Birmingham Rebels series!
5 stars/4.5 flames
This book was gifted to me by the Jeep Diva for an honest review. The rating and review are solely my opinions.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This story is fun, sweet and incredibly steamy. I love friends to lovers romances and the bromance between Sam and King is wonderful. Great characterisation and a wonderful playfulness make it more than just erotica.
I loved Sam as a famous NFL player and military veteran too anxious about his PTSD to trust himself with a woman without King’s help. I loved Jane’s refreshing “what the hell” approach to the offer of a one-off three(ish)some. For erotica, these are surprisingly appealing and complex characters that I actually really liked. Sam is still struggling with his past, King is struggling with his attraction to Sam and Jane is struggling with her instant public notoriety as the two men’s lover.
The plot is relatively simple here. The two men discover their attraction to each other through their attraction to Jane. This story is book 3 in a series about Sam and King’s team. The two men are part of the kinkiest NFL team in America and their slide from BFF bromance to lovers is sexy and a pleasure to read. As an uninhibited nurse, Jane adds one more fantasy to the mix.
The sex between these three is hot, the chemistry is brilliant and the characters are well crafted. This is definitely erotica but it is happy, fun and slightly angsty erotica and I really enjoyed it.

Having never read anything by Samantha Kane, I figured what better way to start but with a hot nurse and two football heroes...who doesn't love a good menage? From the moment that I met this unlikely threesome, I couldn't wait to see how their relationships were going to progress, desires were going to explode, and love was going to flourish. It wasn't long before I completely wrapped up and in an emotional tug of war between King, Sam, and Jane. Samantha Kane takes us into the world of a professional football team that are calling the shots both on and off the field and they are hot, unpredictable, and full of heart!
King Ulupoka is a mouth watering Samoan God with his sexy talk, gorgeous body, and free loving ways. He charmed Sam and Jane out of their clothes and their hearts with ease and suave that is sure to have any reader falling hard for his caramel skin and sinful mouth. Out of the three, he is definitely the most sexually adventurous and is more than willing to share all his carnal knowledge with both Sam and Jane. He had my heart pounding double time and wanting more!
Sam Taylor had my emotions at an all time high with the emotional trauma he has been through in the service and the confusing sexual pull he feels towards both Jane and King. I felt like I was stuck in the middle of his muddled feelings and uncontrollable desires with no hope of escape. If that wasn't enough to claim my love when he became more dominant in the bedroom, I was an absolute goner!
Jane Foster is a nurse with a good girl persona that is looking for a little bit of fun for one night, when she happens to meet two of the finest football players around, she is more than ready to try something new and exciting. She is a refreshing, practical with a good head on her shoulders heroine, until she is around Sam and King, then the bad girl emerges and anything and everything is a go with her and these two heroes between the sheets.
Samantha Kane delivers a story that shows that love can cross all kinds of boundaries and lines and show you happiness that you never knew existed. I highly recommend Jacked Up for an unconventional romance that will leave you addicted to yet another set of football playing hunks that know how to send readers hearts and libidos soaring right along with the rawhide. I cannot wait to read more books by this talented author and am looking forward to many more of her titillating threesomes and sexy times with the Birmingham Rebels!
The Birmingham Rebels are back in true Samantha Kane style. King, Sam, and Jane’s story is a scorchingly hot, sexy read that will warm you up on these cold winter nights. Sam Taylor left Afghanistan scarred physically and emotionally, feeling like maybe he was too old and messed up in the head to play pro ball. If not for the help of his good friend and teammate, King Ulupoka, everyone might see just how jacked up he really was. On the outside King looked big and mean with his Samoan tattoos, but on the inside, he was a teddy bear. He’d taken Sam under his wing and had even made him a part of his family. King wanted Sam to live life to the fullest, not watch it go by. Knowing Sam hadn’t been laid since Afghanistan because of his fear of freaking out and hurting someone, King suggests they find Sam a hook up and King would stay with him to come to his aid if he started to freak. Sam didn’t want to get laid, but it was easier to agree with King on most things. But where would they find a girl who’d agree to their plan? ER nurse Jane Foster was always known for being sober, responsible, and dependable. When Sam and King come to her rescue in a bar, she immediately is drawn to them and buys them a drink. King shares their plan with Jane, and though she is shocked that they would choose her, she can’t help but be intrigued. What King was proposing was so outside of Normal Jane, it was crazy. “She may have always been the good girl, but that didn’t mean she had to be like that behind closed doors.” This was probably the only chance she’d ever get to indulge in something kinky. Why shouldn’t she? No one would be hurt. She’d never see Sam or King again. Her head told her it was crazy, but her body was all for it. The thought of being with one while the other watched turned her on. Knowing she’d never see them again helped her shed her inhibitions, and when they got started, it was explosive. For Jane, it was the best night of her life. And it was off the charts for Sam and King as well, because not only did they enjoy being with Jane, they felt an excitement in watching each other as well. But King wasn’t about to jeopardize his friendship with Sam over an inappropriate case of lust. Sam was confused by his feelings toward King too. If only they could be with Jane for more than one night. That would be perfect for them. When King and Sam run into Jane in Birmingham a few months later, they know they want to continue the relationship they started that night, but Jane is more hesitant. Jane wanted a repeat of what they’d had. She’d discovered a new side of herself with King and Sam. The three of them together was a fantasy come true. But fantasies could never be reality, could they? What an arousing, intense, passionate romance! This story started out hot and never cooled down. The chemistry between Sam, Jane, and King was sizzling. I think my Kindle may have overheated. I know I did! But Samantha Kane’s stories are so much more than just sizzle. The plot and characters are so well crafted. Sam, Jane, and King each had their own worries about their feelings and about each other’s motivation for being in a relationship that was so outside of the norm. I loved the support that Jane and King, and even the whole Rebels team gave to Sam in dealing with his PTSD. Like the other books in this series, this is a great story about love, friendship, and trust all rolled into one sexy, struggling football team. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other players. A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
This book is scotching hot and Sam, King, and Jane are wonderful. This is a healing book for Sam and Jane gets to come into her own.
King is my favorite character with his big sunny personality but he is the one we get to know the least. I needed much more of his backstory and just time with him.
A great erotic read. Kane never disappoints with touching stories and really sexy times.
Living out his dream of playing pro football, Sam signs on with the Birmingham Rebels after returning from a tour in Afghanistan. Sam, who suffers PTSD, hasn’t been with a woman since his return home over two years ago out of fear sex will trigger his nightmares. Best friend and teammate King only wants what is best for Sam and thinks helping him get laid will help him get over his fears. Heading to the shore for some fun, the pair meets Jane Foster, the perfect girl for Sam. Sam and Jane are completely attracted, but Sam will only have sex with her if King is in the room, to stop him if he starts having nightmares. With Jane on board, the couple has the best sex of their lives, especially when they involve King in the action. However, that was just for one night, and the guys and Jane go their separate ways. Fast-forward to the fall and the Birmingham Rebels are struggling. But an accidental run-in with Jane sparks a fire inside Sam, changing his outlook on life and football.
Jacked Up is the third ménage in the Birmingham Rebels series. By now, most of the team embraces the non-conforming relationships and sexuality of the players and coaches, although those outside the team still aren’t as accepting. This openness affords this particular trio the ability to speak more openly about their desires, making the story less about the social issues and more about the individual fears and concerns. I felt that the book was better because the story wasn’t as focused on breaking taboos. Even Sam’s doctor tells him no one cares who he sleeps with.
Right from the start, I really liked this threesome. Sam, King, and Jane are all relatable people. I love that they are friends who are exploring and learning. And both males are sweet and kind: good guys. Together, the trio has amazing chemistry! I like that they are normal people who happen to learn they like a bit more kink in the bedroom.
Reading the story from all POVs (Sam, King, and Jane), together with the open and honest dialogue, made me love the characters. I loved how Jane wrestles with what she wants and feels when she’s with Sam and King, instead of what she thinks she should like and how she should act. We've all experienced something like this, probably not in the bedroom, but in some aspect of our lives. This is why I can relate to Jane. She is someone who feels like she's losing control and doesn't know how to process it. Likewise, Sam learns to embrace what happened to him and accept he is a survivor. Watching him come to terms with his memories, coupled with his feelings for both Jane and King, was almost inspirational. Meanwhile, King is such a calming presence and great friend. He’s the glue that holds the fledgling ménage together. He knows when to push and when to hold close.
While it wasn't really an "issue" for me, the overwhelming and over-the-top support of Jane's parents and King's mom felt too ideal. I appreciate that the author has created a world where ménages are more accepted, and a football team where bisexuality is commonplace; however, the positive support still felt a tad unrealistic. But the message was great, regardless.
In this fictional world where the Birmingham Rebels are an NFL expansion team and the world is more accepting of sexual differences, King, Sam, and Jane fit perfectly. Their story resonates because they are normal people with normal fears. Their openness and honesty are what makes them work and creates such a lovely romance. I thoroughly enjoyed their story and look forward to see what Ms. Kane will bring readers in the next Birmingham Rebels title.

Title: Jacked Up Author: Samantha Kane Series: Birmingham Rebels, #3 Pages: n/p Publisher: Loveswept Date: January 31, 2017
Summary:
Review:
This is the third in the Birmingham Rebels series and I have loved each of them. I didn’t expect to. I don’t like football and I don’t understand it. And yes, I realize there is probably a correlation there.
So, why did I read the first one?
Samantha Kane people! Brotherhood in Arms! One of my favorite series ever.
Of course, I had to give the book a chance, even if it was based in the world of football.
And I am so glad I did.
I think this may be my favorite book of the three if for no other reason than I adore King Ulupoka. As the description says, he is larger-than-life and that is just physically. He has a wonderful, wonderful personality and he knows how to go for what he wants. Unfortunately, that sometimes means he rolls over people because, of course, he knows best. It doesn’t matter. I love him. I love how he works to make the relationship between Sam, Jane, and him successful. And it takes a lot of work. Sam is suffering from PTSD and Jane is a “good girl.” They can be their own worst enemies.
And that is my one problem with the book. I wanted Sam to get over himself. I know that sounds harsh considering his background, but I wanted them to have a happily ever after.
Did they get it?
Obviously. This is a romance, albeit a nontraditional one.
It’s not absolutely necessary to read the first two books in the series (Broken Play and Calling the Play), but it will make this one more fun. Previous characters show up and have important parts to play. Not to mention, they’re great books.
Give these books a try. I promise you don’t have to be a sports fan at all.
This book was sent to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review.
My Review: This is absolutely the kinkiest pro football team around and I kind of love them for that.
This story centers around King and Sam. King is this huge Samoan defensive lineman (I think that's his position) on the team. (From his description, I totally pictured him as Jason Momoa.) This guy is pure heart. Everyone on the team loves him...he's just one of those guys...looks fierce, but is actually a huge teddy bear. His best friend is Sam. Sam also plays defense although he's not near as jacked up as King. Sam was in the Army and was one of only two in his squad to survive an IED. That's left him a little messed up in the head and he hasn't been in the right place to have sex with a woman since. King thinks that Sam just needs to get laid and everything will smooth out in Sam's world, but Sam doesn't trust his PTSD and control when he's in the moment. So they come up with a plan. Sam will find a girl, and King will watch to make sure nothing goes bad. Simple, right? Not so much...
Jane is an ER nurse down for a quick vacation on the beach. She's having a good time when a douche gets handsy. King and Sam come to her rescue and the three begin to talk. She's a good girl...not the type they need for their mission, but they like her and walk her back to her hotel, just to make sure she doesn't get into any more trouble. And things happen from there...
Happy sigh. I loved this book so, so much. None of the three of these characters is kinky by nature. They just get caught up and things get so incredibly hot from there. I loved that both Jane and Sam seem to have some sort of transformation 'in the moment'. In normal life, they're both pretty quiet and reserved, but get them into bed and the dirty talking hot stuff begins to flow...big time.
This book was sexy and so fun. I loved every minute of it. Sam's story is heartbreaking and that added a bit of angst and vulnerability to the story that I adored. I loved King and how his laidback attitude flows into the bedroom...he's open to anything. It's all good. Then there's Jane who is completely honest and upfront. There are no games in this girl and I loved that about her. She seriously is a perfect match for the two guys. I loved how close the guys are as friends, but that never once threatened her or caused her pause. In fact, she kind of loves it.
Everything about this story worked for me. I loved the characters and the story set up and all the extremely sexy times. I love that there's still at least one more book to come in this series. I also love the Birmingham Rebels and that they are just that...Rebels...they don't care what anyone thinks. They make their own rules and their game is starting to come together because of it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Sám Taylor and King Ulupoka are both play football for the Birmingham Rebels and have become close friends. Sam is a war veteran and has had emotional problems since he left the army and King has been his friend to lean on when times have been bad, the worst of it is he hasn't been able to sleep with a woman since his return because he still gets flash backs sometimes and he fears he may harm her. They work out a scheme where King is present in the room - watching - with Sam and the lady, they just have to find a woman to participate. They meet Jane in a bar, she's always classed herself as a 'good girl', and when she hears their story she's for once she really wants to be bad - Sam is a hot guy, and to have sex with him with King watching really turns her on - the thing is she would believe she could be that bad - it was an amazing adventure with two hot studs, that she won't see again. Right! Another ménage story by Samantha Kane you won't to miss. Very hot, I loved Sam's friendship with King, they were very close. A great book.

The best in this series!

Sam has PTSD after serving and losing most of his team members in an attack and King is helping him cope with it. Afraid to get flashbacks and hurt someone he hasn't had a women in his bed after he came back. King sets out to help him by offering to be in the room if they find a women willing to do that. They find Jane who consider herself the good girl but turns out to be anything but when it comes to these two men. But what happens when she wants King too?
This story is easy on my mind, soul and heart and it's packed with emotions so I laughed and cried and ploughed through the book in no time. There is no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings, a good amount of dialogues and that's enough to make me a very happy reader.
Third book in the Birmingham Rebels series, and for me it was the best because I loved that none of the three people involved had ever been in a polyandrous relationship before. That made this a very pleasurable journey to take with the characters. Also, after I received this ARC I had to buy the two first books because I'm a chronological reader.........
The love scenes was smoking hot, some of the best I've ever read and there're lots of feelings written in to this book.
Sam's worries for hurting the other two is sweet and little neurotic and I adored it. And I loved that Jane got so dirty talking during their interactions. She loses her inhabitants and lets her feelings and lusts guide her. King is trying to take care of everyone and he might be going a little overboard by making decisions for them all.
In the end I will say that I hope for more from the Birmingham Rebels cause there are so many secondary characters that deserves a story.
Even though this is the third book in this series I have to admit this was my first book by this author. You get just as the blurb says…two football players and one ordinary nurse and a lot of sex. Oh, no not just any sex but extremely tantalizing sex. Sam is a war veteran who came back to the states with many scars both physically and emotionally and is determined to live out his dream of playing professional football not just for himself but for the men that didn’t make it home to fulfil their dreams. King was Sam’s teammate and best friend and the only one who knew the background of Sam and problems since returning stateside including his severe fight with PTSD. Jane was an ER nurse who had labeled herself a “good girl” especially after her brother died on a tour overseas. Their paths crossed in a bar when an overly handsy guy was trying to hit on Jane and she was in the process of taking care of that. That’s when King and Sam saw she was having problems with this guy and they came to her rescue.
So just how does a military veteran with issues, a big Samoan star football player and a “good girl” become involved? During this coming together all three of them had a lot to learn and they learned because it was important to the other two. Be ready for a journey with Sam, King and Jane as they all learn what “normal” is and how a good girl becomes a very good bad girl.
I received this book from NetGalley as an ARC for a freely given honest review.
King Ulupoka has taken Sam Taylor under his wing, so to speak, and is going to make sure Sam gets laid. Sam has not been with a woman since he came home from Afghanistan and he is worried that his PTSD will get in the way and so wants King to be in the room with him. They find the woman they want and she is agreeable. Jane Foster is a good girl, a trauma nurse, and she understands Sam's issues but there is an immediate connection between the three of them. Too bad this is just a one night stand. Or is it. A couple weeks after later they meet up in Jane's ER when King's nephew is injured and Jane is his nurse and they are brought back together. The chemistry is still zinging between them and they get together. King and Sam are strong together and Jane brings just the right element to keep everything right. However, this is the Rebels and something has to go wrong so hang on...
I recommend this one and even though you can read this as a standalone, I would read the others in the series because they are just a good and HOT football players and menage what more would you want!
