I especially love short stories on Christmas. I get a boost each time. I really enjoyed this little book. Chock full of insightful lessons conveyed throughout the stories within.

I won this on Goodreads in exchange for my honest opinion. I do recommend this!

Christmas is a holiday that I enjoy, and I was intrigued by the cover of this book as it could be interpreted different ways. A book of short stories about Christmas would be a good change of pace.

The first story, “The Santa Suit,” rewarded my expectations. Though the boy in the story seemed to adapt too quickly to the situation, it was still believable and the overall warmth of the tale gave me hope for the rest of the book.

Like many anthologies, the rest of the stories were not as good as the first one. This is a shame, because author Kevin Moore has a talent for putting words and sentences together, at times even pulling emotions out of the reader. As in the first story, many of the characters changed abruptly and without any more motivation than the author’s good intentions. In these stories, the reversal was too quick, sometimes instantaneous, and the sudden new direction didn’t ring true.

I really wanted for this to be a good read, a book of heartwarming Christmas tales that could be enjoyed and shared. Kevin Moore is certainly on the right path, and possesses skills not exhibited by most self-published authors. Allowing more time for the characters to absorb major life changes (or at least offering readers stronger reasons for the instant changes) would add more motivational aspects to the people in Mr. Moore’s stories. While these short offerings tugged at the heartstrings, the characters didn’t always pull their weight. Three stars.

Expect that warm fuzzy feeling while reading.

7 heart warming stories that will give you all the "feels" in and out of Christmas season.

The Santa Suit: A young boy is sentenced to spend Christmas with his Grandfather while his mother is away with her new husband. Grandpa is a mystery, lonely and definitely grumpy, and Matthew isn't looking forward to the next two weeks. But as Grandpa and Matthew settle into a routine, their walls begin to come down and Matthew sees his Grandfather for who he really is, and the goodness that lies within.

Comfort and Joy: Maggie is a high powered lawyer who has it all, or so it seems from the outside. Maggie doesn't let everyone see the hurt she still holds onto; pain and sadness that showed up the minute her husband and daughter were taken from her.  But when an unexpected woman from her past shows up out of nowhere, Maggie isn't sure how to help. That is until the skies part and she sees what could be a new beginning and second chance at life and love.

Oh, Christmas Tree: Travelers in an airport bar each have a unique past experience when they encounter and out of place Christmas tree.

911: Gloria is a 911 operator working on Christmas Eve.  The evening hasn't started off well, all her calls, except the drunken ones, seem to be affecting her personally. When a little girl calls 911 worried that something bad has happened to Santa, Gloria realizes this isn't a prank call from another kid messing around.  Instead, this little girl is upset that the family had seen Santa being beat up and he hadn't visited their apartment to leave presents. She was most concerned about his little sister and brother who were going to be so sad. With tears in her eyes, Gloria did the only thing she could... she set out to save a little girl's Christmas.

An Unexpected Gift: At 17, all Jesse wanted to do was party, hang out with his friends and date girls. But that's how he landed in front of judge and was ordered to do community service at the Pony Express for the next two months. It is there that he learns some valuable life lessons and begins to change whether he wantes to or not.

Angels in the Midst: The fight between good and evil is going on all around us, and usually we can't see the angels that are fighting for us. Chaz is one such angel. During a mission, Chaz transforms himself into human form to fight off an evil spirit and ends up sacrificing himself to save the people he was protecting. Now human, with no memory, Chaz has a new identity and an intense desire to find out the meaning of the Christmas season. Will he find out what Christmas is all about and return to his angelic form?

Lost in Florida at Christmas: After their mother died two years ago, Christmas was never the same. Two teen brothers find themselves in Florida on a vacation trying to follow in their father's sometime illegal footsteps. But when they get into a bar with fake IDs and the drinks are flowing, the memories and pain that they have pushed down begin to surface. It is then that they realized just how lost they are and that ultimately, no matter how lost you are, you have to make the choice to make things better.

I really enjoyed these 7 short stories and found them very easy to read. I highly recommend this book to those who love a good "happy ending" from a story that will give you that warm feeling and bring a smile to your face. Christmas Stories is good for all ages, and I can even see myself reading these to my children (maybe with some censored parts), as they aren't only warm and fuzzy, but each contains an important lesson.  Happy Reading.

A short but excellent book of Holiday stories. I really enjoyed this. I haven't read Christmas stories since I was a little boy. This book had the edge and humor I needed. I loved that alot of it took place in the city I live in and I felt sucked in and like I was a part of some of the stories. I will definitely return this book in future holiday seasons and give it as a gift to friends and family.

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ding, dingaling too!

"Christmas Stories: 7 Original Short Stories" is an excellent book with 7 short-stories that are packed full of Christmas pasts and presents. Some are happy, some are sad, and even some are really far-fetched. These different tales help each of us to remember the reason behind the season, and keep us all in the mood for the family time around the tree.

WOW

I just love Christmas, don't you? It's my favorite time of the year. Hats off to Mr Moore. You brought back some wonderful childhood memories I had growing up with my grandparents. Especially my grandmother. Thank you for that. Also your story of Santa. My grandfather was the town Santa. I found out many years later. My grandma would take me and my brothers to see Santa, but we had no idea it was my grandpa. :)

Great stories

I gave these stories the highest rating because they were all very thought pro
voking. It's so easy to get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas and to forget what it's really about. The stories were each a quick read but stick in your thoughts after you finish them.

Amazon put me in touch with your Christmas Stories book. I enjoyed it so much, it is definitely my kind of storytelling. Such great heart and emotion. Thank you for writing such a sweet classic that will be added to the books I read each year. (Christmas Carol, The Mansion, GIft of the Magi, and Luke 2) And now this book.

True Spirit of Christmas

In this book are 7 short stories. In all of them various people are searching for the true meaning of Christmas. These are great stories. I wish that I had read this book at the beginning of December rather than at the end.

One of my favorite things is Christmas; the music, the decorations, the spirit of the season, and so much more. This set of stories is about all those things I mentioned, and as noted, much more.
Let’s start with one aspect to this book I loved. I am speaking of the importance of family and friends. This book was about doing for others and giving people a chance. It truly was about the important things in life many people have started to overlook.
Another aspect to this book I enjoyed was all of the humor and the mystery solving that occurred across the different stories. I love when stories can both touch your heart but keep a smile on your face. These stories fit that bill.
I honestly can’t say much about this set of stories except they will warm your heart and put a smile on your face. You might be overwhelmed with the desire to see a relative you haven’t in quite some time. Maybe contact an old friend, or get out and do some charitable work for others. I guess what I should really just say is if you are interested in some beautiful, comedic, and heartwarming stories, pick up this book. It is a wonderful read.

Ugh! If you like your Christmas to be sappy and sentimental and then covered in syrupy drivel, this is the book for you. Otherwise, skip it.

I thought this book by Kevin Moore held so much promise, but without exception the seven stories are treacly with eye-rolling plots, characters that are totally one-dimensional, dialogue that stretches the boundaries of believable, and boringly predictable storylines.

I read all seven stories because I kept thinking there would be one—just one!—that wouldn't be so cloying. I was mistaken.

Spirit of Christmas

I really wanted to like this book and I do like parts of it. I like the hopeful spirit it intends to inspire however the author creates such sad situations it's hard to enjoy. Much of the writing feels hurried and the stories themselves feel rushed.

The underlying plots of each story are interesting, but these read like a first draft or an outline. It could use some editing, less detail about the little things, and more about the important things.

I received this book as part of the Goodreads First Reads Program for the purpose of a fair review.

Overview: Can you ever get too much of Christmas? Mr. Moore has offered us a collection dedicated to the season. Do they work?

Dislikes: The ideas are good, the spirit is good, but the stories, for the most part, are too short to merge the idea and the spirit comfortably.

Likes: Like I said, the spirit behind the stories is good, and some of them come real close to succeeding. One of the best at it would be “The Santa Suit.”

Conclusion: This is a good book. Mr. Moore’s next novel ought to be much stronger. Enjoy these stories.

I wanted to read a book that was Christmas-themed in the week before Christmas and this one was perfect for that. It contains seven short stories centered around Christmas and the spirit of Christmas that is thinking of others, helping the less fortunate and those in need, and most importantly the birth of our Savior, the Christ child. Some stories are better than others but this is a perfect book to read in the week leading up to Christmas.

Christmas Stories; 7 Original Short Stories by Kevin Moore was a quick and inspirational read. I bought this after reading his Volume II of short Christmas stories. This first edition has stories echoing the true meaning of christmas and occurrences in life bolstered by faith. In my opinion, I found the Volume II edition more meaningful; touching my heart with every new story. They are both worth reading. Enjoy!

Thanks to the author and Goodreads for this complimentary copy. During the rush of the holiday season one often doesn't have time for novels. Enter, the short story! This volume contains 7 stories that are a great reminder of the joy that Christmas brings and the importance of granting second chances.

Really nice and short Christmas stories to read before bed. All of the stories were pretty good and interesting to read. Minus 1 star because I’m not religious and all stories included a few sentences about God, religion, etc., I didn’t know this before reading the book.

Amateur writing

The stories are sappy and the writing is as sophisticated as a teenager's. It got worse as I continued. I had to give up halfway through.

In particular, I really liked the first story about the Grandpa, and the fourth story about the teen boy who was given a chance to do community service instead of going to juvenile hall.
