A dense history of the Mediterranean region from Mesopotamia to the fall of the Roman empire. Unlike most histories of the period the focus isn’t on military and political matters.

Pretty decent overview, but my Prof. did spend most of the lectures correcting the text. So I wouldn't weigh the information so heavily.
