There was no time, no time to think about the consequences. Now a fallen Earned with no pack, no mortal friends, and unable to be loved, Kaleb scrambles to find his new place in existence—a place that was the result of a brave long shot when his Honored One, Alex, was dying from a curse.

Kaleb had felt alone as a half-breed among the Earned, and as a fallen Earned he is even less welcome. Still, he finds himself surrounded by new friends. Least of all did he expect an Angel to give him the time of day.

It is time to embrace his mother’s side—a side that makes him even more feared than he was as just a half-breed. This new knowledge makes him aware of a yet unknown threat to himself, his family, and the mortals he loves. But it also brings about a new understanding of what threat his powers pose for mortals.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews.)

I’m really liking where the author is going with this series. Those of you who’ve seen my reviews on the other books, or better yet read the books, will remember that I was confused about some other characters added in the previous book, but intrigued with how they would all tie together. Well, Saving Starfish, answered my questions.

In this fourth book in the series, we are again focusing on Kaleb, who is still reeling from his fall from grace. He is now a winged demon, complete with tail, and all as a result of saving his Honored One, Alex. Alex would have died from the curse he had received if not for Kaleb, but divine rules are divine rules and Kaleb has fallen.

Kaleb is doing Dominic’s old job and he is clearing the souls of people who have done wrongs to others. But more is in store for him. He is also able to do things unheard of for either an Earned, or for the other side of his family, the Witches.

The story is building and it doesn’t end in this book, so be prepared for another kind of mid-air ending. Lots of things happen to Kaleb on the journey, as well as to Pritchard and Alex and to the rest of Kaleb’s Earned family. I can’t wait to see where the story is going next! All the characters we’ve met along the way are starting to come together, the witches are rising, things are starting to get really good…

I was surprised when I finished the book and went to get the “info” to do my review. It says it is 313 pages long! I read it straight through, enjoying everything immensely and it was over way too fast in my opinion. The characters and world building are first rate, and the book was pretty flawless.

I highly recommend if you’re someone who enjoys paranormal speculative fiction and you aren’t reading Meraki P. Lyhne’s books that you start. She looks at the world in a slightly different way than the rest of us. What if there are Angels and Demons amongst us? Not to mention the Earned and the Witches. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

Finally ... !!!

Kaleb fell. In order to save his Honored One life he sacrifices himself. He is now a Demon with wings and horns. But he is not alone ... an angel Sam-El looking out for him, guides him to embrace his powers. He finds out about his role in the coming war. He is afraid of his powers who seems growing every time and him being Punishment seems the lesser bad part of his fall.

Alex feels guilty. Kaleb lost everything and is all his fault. The pack is not on the same page with him. Dominic helps him keeping his mind off of it. Back in Philadelphia everything is prepared for his and Pritchard's funeral. They must stay with the pack no one must know that they are still alive but then Mr. Henry come knocking on their door (yeah that will be interesting, you'll see). They will learn about the coin too and everything it does.

Dominic is determined. He helps Kaleb in his solitude, actually Dominic and the angel are the ones that Kaleb wanna see. Sharing with Kaleb his all, now its seems that the boy will settle down easier. But his main focus is Alex, he wanna fulfill all Alex's dreams, fantasies so he researches... stuffs... on internet ... like "art" (im not talking about art crafts though ;) ).

The book is amazing, without giving up much we will see Alex life and his loved ones accept him for who he is. We will read that Kaleb is not as alone as he thinks. We will meet knew and all characters like Franco and Nathan with Lucien is coming to meat the Earned ones too ...

The picture you see above is my tribute to Meraki for his fabulous work and his 8 year research to share with us this world full off occult, magic and acceptance... my dear M. i can't wait for book 5!

****I would like to thank the author (and now my dear friend) for the privilege and opportunity of reading this ARC. My review is an honest opinion of the book****

Original Blog Post: Review: Saving Starfish (Chronicles of an Earned #4) by Meraki P. Lyhne

Review by: multitaskingmomma
My Rating: 5 Stars. What Else Can I Give It?

Dear Lord, this was a read to READ! This is very long and exhausting and oh, so exciting and quite overwhelming! For those of you who haven't picked up this series yet, you should stop and just get on with it. For one thing, this is erotic and romantic and full of action, and just keeps on going.

I had waited ages for Kaleb's story and now that I have it, I'm stumped. STUMPED! What in heck, this is not the end of the series, it's just getting bigger. And clearer too.

Look, the previous book, Marked by Shadow (Chronicles of an Earned #3) which review I did, that was a long one, and great and all, but it kind of delayed my need for a Kaleb gratification. Now that I've read this one, I got the answers I needed, I found out why the third book had to be inserted before Starfish, and have learned more than I thought I would about the Earned. Boy, the world building in this series is incredible and I am astounded as to how author Meraki Lyhne can get his facts together without getting lost. I am certainly not that focused unless I have a map in front of me, and even then I can hardly read a map. Bravo on your efforts, Meraki! I want to be you when I grow up.

Now, what's in this story? Ha! As if I know you want me to spoil things, but I can't do that. What I will do is confirm what the other reviewers have said, and more. What I can add in is how much I love Kaleb even more than I used to. He's kind of turned my focus on this series from Alex. Here, he is turning out to be much more than I even anticipated him to be. I mean, sure, I knew he was all kinds of different and all, but not this! Not the way he turned out to be!

And now I have to wait for the fifth book...I know the author is working on it...when will it drop?

What a ride ! Okay, this series is kind of awesome.

The world is so amazingly built and the characters also are, I'm amazed. So much is happening in this series, I can't tell anything without throwing some spoils around so I'll just say that in this one the focus is mostly on Kaleb who have to deal with his fall. All of this is just getting bigger and I can't wait to see what will happen next !

This is the 4th book in the Chronicles of Earned Series. The characters are slowly starting to come together. They are getting ready for a big war between the Captains. Alex and Nathan what secrets they both hold and what they are building towards with the Order and Earned. This keeps getting better and better. I have a hard time putting this book down once you start. How can you not fall in love with Kaleb and wanting to see him fine happiness and break the curse. you do need to read the book in order and they keep bringing more and more out of the characters. Highly recommend this book and cant wait for the next one. What will happen with Kaleb and Lucian?
