Melissa I spent years shutting myself off from the world, haunted by the tragedies of my past… until Nathan Black comes along. Tall, built like Adonis, with jet black hair and startling green eyes, he makes me go weak in the knees. He saved me from sure death, and I’m grateful for that. But I want more. I want him. I’ve never had a crush before. This desire is stronger than any pull I’ve ever felt. I’ve never even been with a man. But I want him to be my first. The way he looks at me, I know he wants me too. But he’s holding back. He thinks he’ll corrupt me—that he’ll take me to hell with him. But I’m done with being scared. When I’m with him, nothing else matters. I want him. At any cost. Nathan I was a mercenary. A killer for hire. I used to crave the need to put men in the ground. But I no longer get that rush. I’m empty and hollow from years of spilling blood. I was just going through the motions. Collecting money and earning my one-way ticket to hell. But meeting her, everything changed. Her psychotic father wants her dead, and he has no problems killing anyone in his way. But her gorgeous blue eyes beg me to save her and feel me with a desire that I haven’t felt in years. But I can’t give in. Not yet. I have to save her. From the man that wants her dead. And from the dirty things I want to do to her. **Retribution is a full-length romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger!

Retribution is the final book in the Secrets & Lies series, and what a suspenseful conclusion. You might want to read the first two books, Revenge and Retaliation, to fully understand the plot line. Retribution is Nathan Black and Melissa Sand’s story.
Although Melissa and Nathan skirt around their attraction, with Melissa’s extreme shyness and Nathan’s guilt about his past, they eventually pull together for strength in protecting their extended family. With Jackson, Katrina, Carson, Andrea, and baby Andi, they’ve all gone into hiding when they hear that Peter DeLaCour is on the rampage. Peter’s bent on killing anyone who could testify against him, placing him in prison for good. He’s hired a lethal assassin, Isis Bardot, to systematically eliminate the whole family. And Nathan has a history with Isis. This part is mindblowing, and what a twist! Nathan is worried, calling in fire power from his military connections, experts that could ensure the safety of his new found family.
I love how Ms. Landish doesn’t sugar coat Nathan’s past from Special Forces and his time as a mercenary. That dark episode in his life really did a psychological number on Nathan, still reeling from loss of his lover, Aisha, and feeling numb from all the killing. Definitely, the backstory of his past helped to understand Nathan as the man he’s become. At the start Nathan is conflicted by his attraction to Melissa. To him, she is all light and goodness. His dark soul is tainted by blood and beyond redemption. Can they heal one another and see a future together once they deal with Peter and his assassin? In Nathan, Melissa is able to draw strength, overcoming crushing anxiety and panic attacks. And with Melissa, Nathan finds comfort, peace and a chance at love. Finally his soldier’s heart finds love and contentment. *sigh*
Retribution is sweet, suspenseful, and filled with wonderful characters I learned to love from this whole series. Ms Landish gives us an epilogue that goes into several years where we find Nathan, Melissa, Carson, Andrea, Jackson, and Katrina, and how they’ve grown their families. A wonderful, suspenseful series.
This is the final and conclusion of the Secrets & Lies series, and what a fantastic series it is! Finally we have Nathan and Melissa’s story. This book as with the others, is packed full of suspense, intrigue, twists, and love. I love how Lauren has written this series in such a way that all of the characters evolve throughout. In my opinion this story is worth so much more that the 5 stars allowed. I was hooked and captivated throughout. I recommend all of Lauren’s work for all, and I cannot wait to read whatever she brings to us next.
Oh My, Oh My, what an amazing conclusion to a fantastic series. All I could think about is when will I get to read Nathan's story and finally the time has come. Nathan and Melissa have gone through hell and back but together they fight the strength to move on. I wish I could give "Retribution" more than five stars, I will remember this series for a very long time.
Happy Reading Lisa ****I Voluntarily reviewed an Advance copy of this book"
Arc review For honest review. The family is still hiding from the father and going to have their day on him. Nathan and lissa find find their relationship. I love how this family works, communicates, loves ,and respects each other.
Best of the three, I still wasn't very impressed. Although this one didn't drag like the second, there are still some things that all three shared that just feel as though they shouldn't have been repeated.
All three couples pretty much were in love very quickly. Then all three had sex the first time without discussion beforehand about safety and without the use of protection. All three spoke of a lifetime together right after the first sexual encounter, and all three got pregnant the first time.
It's not that all this couldn't happen, but three stories of the exact same romantic encounters, with the exception of the weird mentioning and dabbling in the quasi-BDSM kink Andrea and Carson supposedly were into, was just plain repetitive and boring.
At least this last couple took their time to fall in love slowly first. It was a bit better paced and more believable than the others.
I still hate the author's weird need to make things gross with the hints of incestuous relations. Although in this book, it wasn't a hint, it was an outright statement as Melissa's father threatened to rape his own daughter. Double Yuck. The other books were just uneasy mentionings of possible sibling attractions; this book went too far.
The series was not terrible, but I wouldn't outwardly recommend it to friends.
Retribution is the continuing story of the people trying to make sure that Peter DeLaCoeur goes down for all his crimes. It follows Melissa and Nathan while trying to get rid of her dad Peter DeLacoeur since he wants her dead. Melissa has shut herself off from the world and is haunted by the by her past…namely her father Peter DeLaCoeur. When Nathan comes into her life she has never desired anybody as much as she does the tall man that looks like a GOD!!!! She wants him even though he thinks that he will corrupt. She is not going to be scared any more. Nathan is a mercenary and a hired gun. He is hired by Peter DeLaCoeur to kill his daughter Melissa. After meeting her he can’t do it. He wants her more than he has ever wanted anything in his life. But he doesn’t want to corrupt her. Will Peter DeLaCoeur finally get what is coming to him? Will his children finally get their justice? Will Nathan and Melissa ever meet in the middle? You are going to have to read to find out.

So I really took my time with this one, the last book in the De LaCoeur trilogy. I love, love, LOVED this series and am heartbroken it has ended!!
If you've read any of my previous reviews of Lauren Landish then you'll know that I've become a bit of a crazed fan girl and crush like a simpering teenager over her books. This one was no different and I have been reverently flicking through the pages, mixed emotions as I neared the end.
Melissa/ Lissa Sands is the illegitimate child from a doomed affair between her mother and the married, crooked business magnate Peter De La Coeur.
Lissa is an emotionally broken 30year old sculptor and artist, who witnessed her mother's suicide when she was seven years old. This had a major impact on her with Melissa had retreating into an almost childlike world and a virtual recluse with no-one but her younger adopted brother and art gallery business partner, Carson for protection and company.
Jackson found his HEA (but boy did he have to work for it!) with computer hacker and all round bada$$ Katrina - see Revenge.
Andrea is loved and safe to be her submissive self in a D/s relationship with quiet but commanding Carson - see Retaliation. So what's Lissa's fate.....?
There's quite a bit of violence in this book and a few triggers, but overall it feels in keeping with the tone and pace of the story. Landish has a freakish knowledge of guns, munitions, underground lifestyle and warcraft (or has done some serious research) and the story and world building for this series is only made much richer for it.
This may not be the book for everyone if you are into the more fantasy, outlandish smexy alien/female Mars-needs-women trope style books but that's OK. I love those as well.
I just think that books for the thinking woman that involve smart, sassy, truly hardworking, intelligent, independent, kick a$$ women in a story that reflects an ethnic diversity and criminal underworld in an unapologetic way are few and far between.
Fill yer boots with this one!
I breathed a contented sigh of relief at the end. And then again after the Epilogue. And then I cried a lil' bit and am now sulking 'cos the series is now over...
A solid 5 stars!! I heart Ms Landish. Fan for life over here.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
...unfortunately, I need to return this novel as DND at about 18% read.
I'm so confused that I can't see straight; plus, the novel FEELS very dark, from what little I've read - and, I'm not in the mood for that right now. (Just me and my life at present; blaming my lack of interest totally on myself.)
I may come back to this sooner rather than later, but, for now, I'd love to read one of Ms. Landish's rom-coms!
I liked the story, but it was hard for me to follow at first. I came into this book expecting it to be a follow on to the snowman series. Once I realized it was a different series I enjoyed reading the book. My big mistake was I should have stopped reading the story until I read the first two books in the series. If I would have done that I would have enjoyed the book more as I would have had the back story from the previous two books.
Being an avid reader with an eye for variety Laureen Landish has jumped to the top of my list. The villian of this book and it's predecessor is enough to send chills down your spine. The honor and love amongst the rest of the characters holds true to romance. While not the light hearted read of some romances this book is amazing and something I would read again and again.
The final in this series is by far my favorite! Nathan Blake hasn't been the same since he lost the woman, Aisha, he loved and has further tainted his soul in his opinion since that loss. With the DeLaCouer clan he may find a chance at some redemption of his own. Melissa Sands may be the older sibling, but her brother Carson has been protecting her and caring for her since the death of their mother. Now with the addition of Andrea, Jackson, Katrina, Baby Andrea and Nathan she may find some balance in her world. Nathan awakens the woman in Melissa, but because of how he views his life their love won't come easy. The two dance around each other, admit how they feel and still Nathan tries to keep her as pure as possible, even if it means not giving in to the feelings he has. When Nathan realizes he is a part of this family they have created he knows there is nothing won't do to make sure they make it through the latest attack from Peter DeLaCouer, the father of Andrea, Jackson and Melissa. I love that even though Melissa views herself as the weakest link in their family Nathan realizes she is his heart and that makes him fight even harder. This family has gone through so much in this series due to Peter and his sick and twisted need for his own version of revenge. When Melissa finds herself in the crosshairs of her father and a blast from Nathan's past the family and Nathan will stop at nothing and cash in whatever favors they have to bring her back safe. An absolutely amazing series from Lauren Landish! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
"Retribution" is another awesome book by Lauren Landish and the conclusion of the spectacular "Secrets & Lies" - series about Jackson and Katrina, Andrea and Carson and Melissa and Nathan. Each character is uniquely described and elaborated, each mood nuance in the book comprehensible. This book lives from the antitheses in the strings of action, on the one hand the nerve-telling hiding from Peter and his henchmen, on the other the growing love between Melissa and Nathan and the loving and caring intercourse of the couples. A masterly written book and another must read!
Loyalty put to the test. Courage, sacrifice and a love that knows no bounds. This book covers all of this and so many emotions. We feel the raw, intimate, sensual chemistry and passion of each character for their soul mate. We see the loss, pain and suffering that the family endured. Retribution is their's and the healing begins and finally everything they wanted is attainable so is their HEA. I recommend reading all 3 books in this series. Start with Revenge the first book for a greater reading experience because the books all intertwine with each other.

RETRIBUTION by Lauren Landish
Melissa Hart spent years shutting herself off from the world, haunted by her past. Then Nathan Black came into her life. Tall, handsome, with astonishing green eyes. He saved her from a sure death and she's greatful, but she wants more than that. She wants him. Lissa has never been with a man, but she wants Nathan with a passion. She knows he cares about her, by the way he acts around her and the way he looks at her, but his holding back because he doesn't think his good enough for her. But Lissa knows better and she's not going to sit back and miss her one chance at happiness.
Nathan Black was a mercenary. A killer for hire. He used to crave, the need to put men in the ground, but now his just hollow and empty. That is, until he met Melissa and everything changed. Her psychotic father wants her dead, and has no problems killing anyone who gets in his way. But he will keep her safe, protect her. She calls to him in a way no other woman has and fills him with a desire that he hasn't felt in years. But Nathan can't give in, not yet. He has to save her from the one man who wants her dead.
This was such an awesome read, and the final book in this fantastic series. I was really looking forward to Nathan and Melissa's story, and I was not disappointed, it was an amazing conclusion. It was filled with action, drama, suspence, and romance. The storyline was interesting and intriguing, and had me gripped from the first page. I absolutely loved Nathan and Melissa, who were made for each other and had such great chemistry. They were such sweet people who both went through hell in their lives, both broken and lost. But together they fought for their lives, they fought for their families, and they fought for their love. However, there were a few parts in this book that felt a little rushed at times but otherwise it was still a captivating read and I loved it!

Nathan has been recuperating at the farm with Carson, Andrea and Melissa. He was poisoned by one of Peter DeLaCoeur's men, but he's almost 100% now. Peter DeLaCoeur is father to Melissa, Jackson and Andrea...well, I wouldn't call him fatherly, seeing he wants them dead. Over the last few months, Melissa has developed feelings for Nathan, but she finds it hard to express them. Melissa is an artist as well as a sculptor. She also suffers from debilitating panic attacks. Nathan has feelings for Melissa too, but he also knows who he is and the life he's lead. In his past, Nathan worked as an enforcer for Peter DeLaCoeur. Melissa is too good for him, he doesn't deserve her. So he does what he does best.....he protects Melissa and her family. Peter is back wanting revenge and he is using all his resources to get it. Even resources that Nathan is very familiar with. They are going to need a plan and to fight hard if they want to have a future. Nathan is a tough, hardened assassin that can't resist the feelings he has for Melissa. Melissa is shy, innocent and everything about her screams pure and clean. Nathan wants to put his hands all over her and dirty her up and Melissa has no intention of denying him. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR NATHAN'S STORY SINCE BOOK 1, AND LAUREN DID NOT DISAPPOINT ! THIS BOOK WAS ACTION PACKED AWESOMENESS ! EXCITING, SUSPENSEFUL WITH LOTS OF TWISTS ! I LOVED HAVING ALL THE CHARACTERS RETURN FOR BOOK 3 ! THE SEX WAS OFF THE CHARTS SMOKING HOT ! ! ! GREAT READ !
Wow, the conclusion to this three part series. With them all mainly at the farm they have mostly healed from their injuries and are back to getting fit. Melissa is gradually getting stronger, learning ways to deal with anxiety and the nightmares. Nathan still has some health issues that have held him back but is getting there, he still feels unworthy of the feelings that Melissa is showing for him and the fact he feels for her. This third book has all the intrigue and suspense of the first two, the characters are still under threat and in hiding. Never able to completely relax or let their guards down, events mean that with health they have to expose themselves cautiously to get medical treatment on the low down. Relationships between the group and family are evolving becoming stronger, the understanding and bonds more pronounced. This series is so well written, the plot well thought out and spread well over the three books without becoming boring or stretched too far. There is an even mix of intrigue, threats and action with the relationships building between not only the group as a whole but the individual couples. The love and sex is all in proportion and not overdone. It is believable and not far fetched as some stories along these lines can be, even the fighting scenes and set ups seem as though they could happen. Great job Lauren, I loved them all.
This is the 3rd and final book in the series "Secrets and Lies" and it is a exceptionally fascinating, intriguing and suspenseful book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The book covers: Nathan, (previously a hit-man and protector of Peter DeLaCoeur but defected from Peter's employment), who is recovering at a farm after being poisoned by Peter DeLaCoeur. Melissa (aka Lissa) a artist and the illegitimate daughter of Peter DeLaCoeur. Peter DeLaCoeur, a crazy psychotic ruthless mob boss and father bent on revenge. Isis Bardot, a female assassin hired by Peter to take out the family. Jackson/Katrina/Carson/Andrea, and baby Andi who are all in hiding on the farm. What you will find in this book is: drama, suspense, intrigue, twists and turns, attractions, courage, action, loyalty, memories, trust, murders/hits/assassinations, abduction, drugged, an attack, a rescue, lust, emotional feelings love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of lust, needs and desires. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a good alpha billionaire romance with a HEA, you will not be disappointed.
This is the third and final installment in the Alpha Billionaire series. It was FANTASTIC!!! This way my favorite of the 3 books although they all totally rocked. Nathan and Melissa story was soooooo good. It was action packed, suspenseful and had me on the edge of my seat. Who doesn't love a dirty talking alpha male. Nathan, the former enforcer for Peter DeLaCoeur, thinks Melissa is too good for the likes of him. Melissa is a beautiful soul who suffers from panic attacks. She's shy and doesn't let Nathan know she is attracted to him right away. When Nathan and Melissa get "together" they are so sizzling hot. Their sexy time is OMG delicious. Peter DeLaCoeur or Daddy Dearest as I like to call him, is back, hell bent on seeking revenge and keeps things interesting. Nathan is a force to be reckoned with in his quest to keep them alive. One click this book. I would recommend you read the first 2 books before reading this one so you get a better reading experience. What you get is 3 exciting, suspense filled very sexy reads. Thank you to the author for delivering a really wonderful ending to this exciting series. Great job by author Lauren Landish. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is the end of the Secrets & Lies trilogy and I can just say it went out with a bang. Peter DeLaCoeur is back with a vengeance to finish off his revenge on his family and enemies by hiring a hit woman named Isis Bardot, who has a long history with Nathan. Melissa is an artist who sees the world differently than everyone else. She is fragile from a childhood trauma that causes her to have panic attacks and nightmares, however when push comes to shove she stands up for what needs doing. Melissa has an almost child like mindset and her struggle to understand her emotions towards Nathan are fascinating. Nathan was a mercenary after leaving the Army and did a lot of bad that he regrets. He believes that he doesn't deserve love and happiness so he punishes himself and Melissa by pushing her away. This whole book is about survival, strength, and redemption. If you haven't already read the first two books in this series I recommend you read them before this one or you might be a little lost. I voluntarily read an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Nathan and Melissa's story! I have been intrigued and ridiculously hooked by these books from the start, I have loved following along with the complicated, dark twisted tales of this crazy makeshift family! Nathan has been a favorite of mine from the beginning so I was grateful he got his own story! Melissa drove me a bit nuts at first but she grew on me, I was glad to see she started to overcome some of her anxieties! I won't give away much of this one, I am sure that other reviewers have already done so, but seriously if you haven't read the first two books in this series I strongly recommend reading them before this one, it really helps give you a better Idea of all the characters and how they all got to the places they are now. I felt this one was romantic, sexy, all about second chances at life and love, witty, a bit dark with a great ending! I am sad this looks to be the end! This author did a great job if writing a storyline that will stick with me for a long time. These are all books I will be reading again soon! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader's Copy of this book
Voluntarily reviews an ARC of this book. I really enjoyed the last book in this series. I loved how the characters of Nathan and Melissa find a way to heal each others past and fight for their family. The story was very captivating and kept you guessing the whole way through as to how all three couples were going to survive with Peter doing all he could to leave no loose ends to what he sees is his only way of escaping. He is truly a ruthless and crazy man for wanting to harm his own family. The drama and suspense in this story is great. The story of Nathan and Melissa is sweet and very beautiful. Nathan doesn't think he is worthy of Melissa and Melissa doesn't view him as a man not worthy of happiness. I loved the whole story of how their love develops from friendship into a deep love. I enjoyed how we get to see what happens to all of the family a few years later with their ever growing family. I always love an HEA! I look forward to reading more of Ms Landish's books.
What a final book. Lauren Landish did a great job of bringing the Secrets & Lies Series full circle. I will miss this cast of characters, they are all likable. This is Melissa and Nathan's story. Melissa the shy artist with nightmares. Nathan the stoic protector with his own nightmares. When Melissa's father Peter De LaCoeur decides to put a hit out on all of his kids, their significant others, and his only grandchild with somebody from Nathan's past. Lets just say the fun begins and among all this Melissa and Nathan find love. There is Revenge, Retaliation and Retribution for all. Lauren Landish made me laugh, cry and sit on the edge of my seat turning pages. I could not put my Kindle down. There is suspense and some hot sex. In my opinion you need to read Revenge and Retaliation in that order, to keep the story straight and know who all the players are. In my opinion all three are worth reading. I loved them all.

OMFG!!! This was one hell of read!!! A perfect conclusion to a 3 book series!!! It picks up perfectly from where book 2 ended and is Nathan and Melissa's story... Without giving away any spoilers... i will just state that this is a DO NOT MISS read in every way!!! With all the twists and turns that continue from beginning to end... you will be on the edge of your seat, with white knuckles as you read... then you have 'certain' scenes, that Lauren writes so brilliantly... where your panties literally disintegrate... and you're left breathless and panting!!! 5* Nathan is still highly protective of his family more so now peter has been injured & is even more desperate for revenge to kill them all. Lissa is carsons sister & still hasn't plucked up the courage to tell Nathan she loves him. Nathan has done bad things & when he worked for peter & believes he's not worthy of love. Will peter get his revenge or can the new family get there happy ending? Another brilliant book. Lauren has done it again truly captured the story from book to book I couldn't wait for each book to be released. Revenge is Katrina & Jackson's story Retaliation is Andrea & Carson's story. Great conclusion to this series. I couldn't wait to read Nathan's story and wasn't disappointed. With Peter hell bent on getting revenge they are in more danger then ever now that each of them has a contract hit on them and Nathan's past is coming back to haunt him. Melissa has grown so much and has finally told Nathan how she feels but Nathan feels he doesn't deserve her. But one incident has him rethinking and wants nothing more then to love Melissa. Can Nathan finally have the ending he always wanted? Really enjoyed this series and the characters and it ended perfectly

I absolutely and thoroughly loved the outstanding and exceptional love story written by the phenomenally talented Lauren Landish. I received a copy of the third book in the Secrets and Lies Series. Nathan Black and Melissa Sands fall deeper and deeper in love with each other as their enemy, Peter De LaCoeur, and his mercenary for hire, Isis Bardot, draw closer and closer. Jackson & Katrina, Carson & Andrea, and baby Andi, Nathan and Melissa all work together to win and end the attacks. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written engaging story with captivating characters, and a must read love story of Nathan and Melissa.
This is the third and final story in this Alpha Billionaire series and it was brilliant. This was Nathan and Melissa's story this was full of action and suspense that had my full attention. Nathan is the former enforcer for Peter De La Coeur and he thinks Melissa is too good for him. Melissa is the beautiful innocent and shy and when they finally get together there is fireworks. Of course Peter De La Coeur comes back with only revenge in mind but Nathan is a force on his own and is determined to keep them all alive even at the cost of his own life......... amazing read and loved it. I received this for my honest unbiased review..
