This memorable book is not a travelogue but a treasure trove of unique and original information on a great variety of subjects about the India of early nineteenth century. This a narrative of some great travels ever undertaken of areas which were hitherto hidden from history. The travels under the service of the dreaded East India Company took William Moorcrof, the great explorer born in 1767 England to the Himalayan Provinces of Hindustan and the Punjab, Ladakh and Kashmir, Peshawar, Kabul, Kunduz and Bokhara. The period stretched from 1819 to 1825. Sadly it has not been accorded the due value. “ William Moorcraft is probably the most undervalued traveller in the whole history of Asian exploration...”
