The Kingstone Bible Trilogy is a hardcover edition that combines previously released graphic novels/ comics. It is the most complete graphic adaptation of the Bible ever published. #2 in this epic trilogy spans the time frame from the death of King David through the Intertestamental Period. This one-of-a-kind hard cover graphic Bible is illustrated by top comic artists in stunning, full color art.
Co-writer Ben Avery is a lead writer and editor with Kingstone Comics. His comic book career began when he was selected by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin to work as the script adapter of the comic book fantasy mini-series The Hedge Knight, based on novellas by the New York Times bestselling author. Post-Hedge Knight, Avery went on to co-write/co-create the critically acclaimed Lullaby and The Imaginaries for Image Comics, co-create and write the children's literature inspired fantasy The Oz/Wonderland Chronicles, develop and write the historical epic Kingdoms for Zondervan, and the sequel mini-series The Hedge Knight II published by Marvel Comics.
Co-writer Art A. Ayris combined a passion for both comics and Scripture in penning large portions of the Kingstone Bible. Ayris' writing spans 25 comics and graphic novels, several film festival wins, as well as Best TV Movie in Hollywood's Next Success contest with his screenplay Alas Babylon.
Some strong moments but a lot of Dispensationalism, a lot of innovation and making up content (even in famous narrative passages like Daniel), a lot of highly repetitive minor prophets (although to be fair they are not super differentiated even in the source material).
Super well done. Reading these three volumes concurrently with my Bible in a Year plan and I’ve been blown away with the number of times a passage is brought to new life when presented illustratively. This is very much a summary or paraphrase of key biblical passages, but the writers and illustrators were not afraid to tackle large chunks of poetry and prophecy.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys the Bible and comics. The price is unreal! I read a lot of comics and this giant three omnibus set is significantly cheaper than most single omnibuses on the market.
Excellent graphical depictions, though greater “stage production” style context would be better, as it can be challenging to interpret the events if this is read standalone without at least a single previous reading of scripture itself.
This hardcover volume includes previously publish comic books from The Kings II (1 Kings, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, 1 & 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles), The Exile (Daniel, Ezra, Isaiah, Nehemiah, Esther), and the Prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, A look at the Intertestimental Period), for a total of 50 stories.
