A good mix of historical relevance and personal accounts that take you through the war and various theatres, all within a manageable word count. This books accomplishes exactly what you would expect, it’s an enjoyable read and comes across relatively balanced without jingoism. Smith certainly hands out credit where it’s due and is respectful of all combatants in the telling.
