Former Marine, Trent Reed, is in desperate need of a Hail Mary.
With each failed attempt to convince his woman to pack up and move to Kentucky, his past finds some new way to rear its ugly head. But when his pregnant ex plows into his life, all hell breaks loose—unearthing parts of his past he wished would stay buried. Two weeks of vacation with her man? Hell yeah, that is exactly what Teal Lofton’s libido needs.
And after surviving seven months apart, their reunion doesn’t disappoint. What she didn’t account for was an unfortunate encounter with people from Trent’s past. A racist, a druggie, and a double-barreled shotgun, culminate into a vacation that will alter the course of her life forever.
Inger Iversen lives in Virginia Beach with her tree-hugging boyfriend Joshua and her overweight lap cat Max. When not reading or writing she spends her time watching reruns of True Blood or killing zombies in Call Of Duty.
Teal and Trent are one of my favorite couples in romance. Nothing better than a tart tongued, take no bullshit heroine paired with a true blue alpha who doesn't need to demean his woman and call it "love".
Boy, these two go through some ish and then some. Damn, but that Shayla was a piece of work. I hated her guts, yet I felt sorry for her too. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy Teal slapping the shit out of her. In Trent's case his past just won't stay buried. But Trent isn't about to let it get in the way of the new life he wants to create with the woman he loves. And Teal, bless her heart, is truly ride or die. She doesn't take Trent's mess, but she's the rock he needs.
I definitely prefer them over Logan and Katie (and that's because Katie violated my rule of loving the heroine as much as I do the hero). This was one hell of a ride that had me holding my breath at turns, while yelling at Trent just because lol.
And was it sexy! Trent just couldn't keep his hands (and other body parts) off of Teal, but she gave as good as she got.
Indelible wasn't my favorite book in the series but I still love Teal and Trent to bits and pieces. I did like the story but I just didn't totally love it. It was a solid 3.5 star read for me.
In this book Teal and Trent are basically trying to figure out what the next step in their relationship is. Trent wants her to move to Kentucky to be with him, while Teal has some doubts about it. Trent eventually convinces Teal to come to Kentucky on a little vacation with him when people from his past show up meaning to ruin what they have together.
I liked the story well enough but I missed something I can't quite place my finger on. As I said, I still love Teal and Trent. And I really do. I love them together. They have so much chemistry and would do anything for one another. As always I'm awed by how Teal is so strong for Trent even though his past was horrible.
The ending of the book was probably my favorite. It even made me squeal a little with joy. I can't exactly say what happened or how it did end but I'm really so happy for how it all turned out for Teal and Trent.
It was a pretty quick read so that probably helped a little but this book pulled me out of a reading slump so yay! And as always I'm excited for the next book.
So this is my third book by this author and I totally completely loved it Ms. Iversen is definitely one of my favorite authors now This is the love journey of Teal and Trent We all carry baggage from our past. Trent carried a trunk load. Well trends trunk load of trouble was heavy I pretty much false. Several years ago he made a mistake. He allowed his peers and friends to believe he was a racist He soon found out that was a very bad misstep which cost him the love of his life and his child. Our author Ms. Iversen was able to really delve into how we as a society feel about racism and how it puts you into a box and that were not born with this hatred. we learn it. I totally recommend this book to you and I'm patiently waiting for the next one. ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a great story. The characters were well developed and the storyline was so realistic. The only thing I would've loved to see in this story was a little more of heroine's background/history.
I've enjoyed the first two books in this series, and while Incarcerated remains my favorite, I have to sau, I love me some Trent Reed. He, alone, makes this story compelling as he'll. Add in sassy Teal and some good antagonists and you've got a worthy read. The sex scenes were scorching hot, whole the narrative drew me in and kept me. It was nice to delve deeper into Trent, and learn more about who he is.
One criticism I have is that I don't think this story delved as deep into Teal as I would have liked. I do hope to learn more about her in the next book. As of now I definitely find Trent to be the more compelling of the two characters. Also, I found some of the dramatics involving Shayla and Teal to be over the top. I also felt Shayla deserved a bit more compassion from Teal once her past abuse is revealed, but at least Team's motivations and actions are clearly spelled out and understandable.
Things ended pretty well with this one, so really curious to see how much further this story will go. I can't way for more of that strong and sexy Trent!
*audio review* I went into this audio not having listened to book 1 and I kind of wish I had but it was not necessary at all. I just really want to know more about Trent and Teal.
This book deals with everything real. It's difficult and sometimes uncomfortable but the entire book I kept thinking that Inger Iversen did such a brilliant job at portraying the most real and intense relationship. Trent and Teal were such a unique couple and their chemistry was off the charts. Unfortunately love doesn't ensure an easy path and Trent and Teal had quite a few speed bumps along the way.
I loved the romance and hot, hot love between T and T. Inger can definitely write her some steamy scenes!
Michael Pauley was such a great choice for this book. I admit it took me about 5 minutes to adjust to his narration but after that, it was smooth sailing and he locked me in for the entire book. I loved it.
Worth a credit? Most definitely. If I could do it again, I would listen to book 1 first even though this stands alone, I just want more of Trent and Teal and listening to book 1 first would have given me more time to obsess over them.
This book was awesome the love was Deep and strong and they spoke my language I consider cussing my bilingual contribution to the world anyway great read looking forward to more and the sex yasssss
I am literally tingling after reading this!! Trent is the man! Teal and her sass made my day. I was a little afraid it would fall short, but I couldn't be more wrong. The love that have for each other is inspiring. Their relationship is just....YES!!
Ok so this was a good read, but I felt like I didn't get the closure I wanted for Trent, Harper, and Markus. But like I said it was still a good read. Looking forward to read more from this AMAZING author.
We met Teal and Trent all the way back in Incarcerated. She was Katie’s best friend, and he was Logan’s. Neither one of them had the time nor inclination to coddle someone else. But as we found out in Inevitable, still waters ran deep, and there was an explosion when these two came into contact with one another. And this book picks up a few months after that one left off. Trent was back in Kentucky and Teal still in Vermont. But he managed to get her a flight to him, and though she had her reservations, she went to him.
A lot happens in this book. All I can say is, in reading this book, I really appreciate just how LUCKY Katie was in Incarcerated. But I digress and need to move on to this book. I liked Teal from book 1. She was sassy and truly didn’t take crap from anyone. Trent, though I felt for him, took a little more time to warm up to. I really appreciated getting his story in this one. It really made him such a deep and truly sympathetic character.
Michael Pauley, the narrator, really does a fantastic job of bringing the emotion into this story. His inflections and involvement in the story really show themselves well. I WOULD have had an issue with his idea of a Kentucky accent (being from Kentucky and all…), but I had heard him in an interview admit that it wasn’t a genuine Kentucky accent at all, but his interpretation of how TRENT sounded. And this being said I cannot fault him there. I’m a Kentucky girl. I have spent almost my whole life here, BUT I’ve lived in enough places that it’s altered my accent and I don’t sound like I’m from here either.
Inger Iversen’s story of love in spite of adversity, looking past the facade, and the connection of two people is a beautiful tale. And yes, there are many situations in this story that will make you squirm with unease, don’t let that stop you. I’ve always been told that it’s THOSE situations you should expose yourself to because those are the ones that grow you as a person. So the great question of the day is would I recommend this story to people? I would. I think that Trent and Teal’s story should be spread and enjoyed and appreciated.
Indelible: Beneath His Ink by Inger Iverson, is unlike most books I have read. The problems that are presented in this story are realistic and captivated my interest. It was filled with suspense, combustible chemistry and told a tale about two unique characters from vastly different backgrounds coming together. There are many twists and turns in the plot that kept me wanting to know what would happen next.
Trent is a hard working man who is trying to make up from his past. He is a man from the south and has been immersed in that culture his entire life. Though he doesn’t believe the ways many around him do, he had to walk a fine line at times to fit in.
Teal is a strong woman of color. She is from Vermont and is trying to decide if she should move to the south to be with the man she loves. The culture is vastly different from what she is used to, but he makes up for the differences. What she doesn't expect is for his past to haunt him when she arrives.
PS - The audio version of this book only enhanced Inger Iverson's work. I am new to Michael Pauley as a narrator, but it will not be my last from him. His performance kept my interest as well.
It was wonderful getting to know more about them. It seemed these two have come a long way the months spent apart seemed to draw them closer to one another. Couldn't have been happier to see ratchet Shayla go, her hatred is beyond belief. And Jake, didn't remember much about him til the reference of his actions in Incarcerated were mentioned cause I didn't remember him at all from Inevitable. Anywho glad he got what was deserving of him too. How wonderful of Trent and Teal to adopt Shayla's baby even after all she put him AND her through in this book and the last she was truly a monster. But these two were able to see beyond that and into an innocent child who deserved a loving home. Bravo. Now....the sneak peak of Indebted...man we find yet ANOTHER thing Shayla has gotten Trent into. I hope he and Teal are able to survive whatever it is in tact. So looking forward to it.
Blurb: Former Marine, Trent Reed, is in desperate need of a Hail Mary. What a wonderful love story of how opposites truly do attract. Teal and Trent are from to different worlds, but when their paths cross neither would have suspected that they would have an attraction that would be so undeniable. There story is not one of love at first sight, but definitely one of a love worth fight for. I enjoyed going along with the couple as they try to figure out a way to be together when so many obstacles seem to stand in their way. This one gets 4 stars.
I loved Trent and teal but Harper was immature and selfish for keeping Markus away from his father after all these years because of things he said as a butt kid...
These two fight for the love they share. The past sometimes can come to haunt you but it's how and who you stand with that makes the fight worth it. I am enjoying the journey with Teal and Trent.
I can't say this enough.....I love this style of writing as well as these characters. I'm not sure of the next book though. Is it back tracking cause how does Shayla play into this since she's not his wife?????
Indelible - Beneath His Ink, starts with Trent and Teal having been apart for months, Teal decides to take some time off work and head down to Kentucky to see her man.
Trent’s on a mission to make sure Teal's trip becomes permanent, but Trent’s small town in Kentucky is not particularly welcoming of interracial relationships and our couple has their work cut out for them because Trent has had his own issues with race in the past.
If only Trent’s pesky and messy former life would just stay in the past, life would be great. But, life’s not that simple and Trent gets it from all sides when he starts to squire Teal around his hometown.
Soon his ex-girlfriend and his racist former running buddies, try to put the kibosh on Trent and Teals budding relationship. But neither Trent or Teal are going down without a fight!
This audiobook is fantastic! Inger Iversen writing style is raw and gritty, some may find it uncomfortable, but I find it “real” and I enjoy that aspect. If the character’s she’s writing about are racist pieces of trash, then that’s exactly how Inger’s going to write them. There’s no sugarcoating going on here!
Indelible is an erotic listen, so expect sex and plenty of it, but it’s also a dark thriller so be prepared for elements of domestic abuse, violence, sexual assault and coarse language in this well-told story!
Beneath His Ink is the second book in the Trent and Teal story, I’m pleased Inger Iversen is taking her time and building the backstory of Trent and Teal saga, there’s so much to explore in Trent’s past!
It’s not necessary to read or listen to Inevitable, the first book in their story, but I highly suggest it and the book that starts this series Incarcerated, all are available on audio.
Michael Pauley narrates and I’m so glad he took over from the first books in this series! His voice is better suited to the story and he does an excellent job with the southern dialect, his pacing was perfect and he exuded the right amount of emotion in this audiobook.
I'm impressed with the Michael Pauley's narrating skills and I’m sure his star will continue to rise!
This audiobook was gifted to me exchange for an unbiased review!
Very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable. The story pulls you in from the start and never lets go until the end. It's gritty, intense and real. I listened every chance I could. It's definitely worth your time and credit.
This is the second book in the series, I wish I had listened to the first book just to get the full backstory on Trent & Teal. They already have an established relationship and I missed the developing part of that relationship. ( Sometimes the best part) Even with that, It doesn't take long at all to get pulled in by them. So technically I would say this book can be read as a stand alone.
Great cast of characters. Both good and bad.
Steamy romance, betrayal, suspense, domestic abuse, racial abuse, violence, a very hard fought for and deserved HEA. Did I already say steamy romance? It deserves to be said again.
The story deals with some pretty serious and nasty real life issues and situations that interracial couples face at times unfortunately. Relationships are hard enough without everyone else trying to tear you apart at every turn. Trent & Teal are from two different worlds. That doesn't stop them from falling in love and sticking together through it all.
Michael Pauley did a great job with the narration. Nice voice. Deep and masculine, just how you want you bad boy to sound. Good character voices and accents. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. He was able to make you feel the emotions of the characters through his narration. He brought the characters and story to life. Very enjoyable.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
So close to that five stars... Overall 4 out of 5 stars Performance 4 out of 5 stars Story 4 out of 5 stars
In this one we get fire, ice, pain, sorrow, grief, loss. . . this one brought on the extra. I got a deeper more fleshed out read. There was that extra that was missing from both the previous books but mainly from book one of Trent and Teal. We find some skeletons and then some. We find closure. We find answers.
Michael Pauley did a very good job. I was impressed with his offereing and the way he reeled me in. I was held captive. I was in not rush to finish.
Racism rears its ugly head again in this book 2 in the story of Trent and Teal. Scary for black people in the Southern states, it is even scarier for a black woman or man to be involved romantically with a white man or woman. The story is written with very intense scenes which almost make you hold your breath. In fact I think I did several times. It is hard to read about such hateful people but we all know they exist.
I really do love Trent and Teal I love Katie and Logan. But I couldn't stand the fact that of what happen between Harper and Trent was mostly blamed on him i didn't that. And I also need to give Teal a high five for slapping the mess out of Shayla she deserved that. I really enjoyed this book I can't wait to read book 4
This book had so many. So many different dynamics. This writer is wonderful in her story development. Glad there is more coming from her. Trent and Teal's story is unfinished.
Love the depth of characterization and detailed plots that abound in this book With all the flaws of the main characters we the readers develop an intimate bond with them that keeps us at the edge of suspense
The story is just a delivery device for the smut. It felt like the characters and even the plot were just fillers for unremarkable sex. How many times can “his woman” be written, thought, or said before a couple becomes toxic? Read this and find out.
