You are both good and evil now to me,
You are my sickness and its remedy,
You're all that's bitter to me, all that's sweet,
You're pleasure and disaster, cold and heat,
You're pain and kindness, sorrow, happiness, Wealth's treasury and poverty's distress,
You are my world, my soul, my heart, my eyes,
My shining sun and moon, my turning skies,
My friend, my enemy - and in my sight
All that you've done to me is just and right.
Act as you will, my love, with poor Ramin,
You are my only goddess and my queen;
My heart is burning as I weep and wait
To hear your judgment on me, and my fate."
If you have ears to hear and sense to guide you
I'll give you some advice to keep beside you:
When you declare your heart, see you leave space,
If need be, for a peaceful meeting place,
As wise men waging war will never cease
To leave a space within their plans for peace.
An angry demon has contrived to win you
And planted seeds of hatred deep within you, Uprooting all the little seedlings of
Our reconciling and our mutual love.
Have you not heard that two cruel demons hide
Within our flesh, and prompt us from inside?
The first one says, 'Do it, don't hesitate,
You'll profit hugely by it, so don't wait!'
And when it's done we hear the second's voice Asking us why we made this foolish choice;
The first one made you foolish and forgetful,
The second makes you sorry and regretful.
Why did you start out so belligerent
If now you say you're ready to repent?
It's easier not to sin at all than to
Have to repent for everything you do!
