Loneliness is a desolate feeling that claws its way into the very fabric of your life, dragging you to despair. It is an isolation of your heart and soul and a rejection of everything you are, and everything you try to be, by the very people who should be showering you with love and acceptance...
A life of solitude becomes the norm for Charlotte Whittaker. An emptiness fills her with a void so big that she finds herself running to escape it—running to be alone... It takes a new country and a new outlook on friendship for her to begin to build up her trust in others again.
Easton James wraps his heart in tissue paper, locking it away and hiding the key, as he tries to put distance between it and the life he thought was already paved for him. He walks a lonely man—a band of patient friends by his side—searching for answers that will reunite him with the man he knows hides deep inside of himself.
Travelling roads of uncertainty that push and pull them like magnets, the pair discover a middle ground on uncharted territory that gives them hope for a chance at a new kind of love.
**Please Note: This book is written in both US and UK English, as the characters are American and British. In order to keep our characters true and original, they have written their parts of the story using their respective spellings/terms/phrases.
***This, full-length, standalone novel contains adult/mature young adult situations. It is only suitable for ages 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations.
Eleanor Lloyd-Jones is and always has been a perpetual daydreamer. A mum of one and a full-time primary school teacher, she spins plates and chases her tail in order that she can live out the dream she has had since being a little girl: to write stories.
Like lots of indie authors, her dream is to hit the big time, make all the lists and have some hot-shot movie producer pick up one of her books and turn it into the next blockbuster. Until that happens, she is content to type away, bringing her imagination to life, and just hopes that the people who read her words get some sort of enjoyment out of them and love her characters as much as she does.
5 out of 5 stars (If I could give it more, I would)
I received this book as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) from the authors and was exceptionally pleased to be one of the privileged few to receive one. Having read Houseing Elephants, by Elenaor Lloyd-Jones previously; and being blown away by it, I had high hopes for this story before I'd even seen the trailer or read the blurb.
The authors have given a link to a playlist at the beginning of the book with songs which link in to each chapter. I've never read a book with a playlist before so I was intrigued by this and decided to 'play along'. I downloaded the full playlist and initially listened to each song specified for the relevant chapters. The playlist is excellent – the songs are so in tune with the story, it's hard to believe they weren't written precisely for the book. The only drawback to the playlist is how beautiful the lyrics to most of the songs are – they took me away from the story at times, just lying back and listening. I found I had to really turn the volume down and just absorb the overall sound whilst reading so I was able to read – because I really wanted to keep reading!
Anyway – time to actually review the book.
Easton – a dark, brooding, loner type. He has friends around him and its clear he has a story to tell. Charlie – a young, light and carefree girl travelling on her own and absolutely happy to be doing so. At least that's the impression you are given to begin with. Of course, with this type of book, there was always going to be a story behind one or the other of these two and there most definitely is. I've promised no spoilers so I am struggling for what to say without giving anything at all away. I wish I could just tell you the whole story but there's no way I could do it justice and that would also kind of negate the need for you to read it – which you definitely should, by the way.
We are transported to Amsterdam with both our main two characters and a group of friends and we travel along with them, watching how the group interacts together, how deep seated the friendships are, how they develop along the way and what they can withstand.
Easton has been travelling a while now and is quite comfortable doing so. They have their plans, he's enjoying his time and getting on whilst trying to fight his personal demons. Charlie is woefully underprepared for the reality of travelling, let alone by herself and finds she needs a little help and really doesn't like to admit it.
Easton likes to be in control and Charlie is strong willed and stubborn – you know there will be some explosions. There are times I want to shout or scream at one of the group, hug one of them or even bang a couple of their heads together! The others in the travelling group are Cherry, Axel and Enzo. Cherry is awesome. Just the perfect tonic to every situation. She is calm, understanding, kind and absolutely fun. A wonderful character who no doubt has a story of her own to tell (Hope the authors see this and take the hint.) The other two guys – Axel and Enzo don't really bring too much. They are necessary for the story but not in their own right. Their characters could have been written any number of different ways and they'd still have worked because they aren't as intertwined into the story like Cherry is. Cherry has to be the way she is for it to all work and gel correctly. Again, the authors got this absolutely spot on!
The group splits and it's a pivotal point in the story. Little by little, we learn more about Charlie and Easton, what brought them to this point in their lives, why they are travelling Europe and about their home lives. We follow their journey right until the end of the travelling, beyond that and back home. But of course, home for Charlie is in England whereas Easton is to the US. They've both done amazing things for each other in their time together but what does this mean for the friendship they built along the way? Back home for Easton are Lily, Beth and Tommy and his Mom and Dad. These five people are pivitol in the story despite their relatively short parts. We would not know Easton the way we do if not for these five and again, their characters are so well written, you can see them, hear them and understand them like they're your own family.
For Charlie, back home are Mum and Dad – they are also very key to Charlies character and story, they made her the woman she has become and continue to shape her future right to the very last.
The two amazingly strong primary characters come to life inside your head, they take over your own thought process and completely hypnotise you into just keeping reading until you can't.
As I went through this story, I had to stop at a few points. The raw emotions I felt alongside these people was as though they were right here, part of my life, my best friends and I was living it all right there with them. It genuinely became too much for me to bear. I had to stop the music, put down the kindle and get away for a while. But then, whilst I was away, I yearned to be back with them. The ability of the authors to take me right there, to the very campsite or room, almost hearing and smelling what was going on as well as seeing it all in my mind is astounding. I enjoy reading, I wouldn't review if I didn't but it is rare to find a book which has me so engrossed, I stay awake until 1.30am just to finish it whilst simultaneously wishing it would never end!
This story will tear your heart out, stomp on it and throw it away. It will gently pick you up, cuddle you and engulf you with love and it will leave you wanting more. And you will get more, much more than you ever could have imagined.
How does it end? I will tell you this – I cried. Not just a few little tears running down my face but full on sobbing. Tears of joy or pain, I can't say because of the aforementioned spoiler ban but is it worth the ridiculously low pre-order price? Yes – without a doubt!
I hope the authors won't mind but here are a couple of my favourite little snippets from the story -
“Fear is a common emotion, an infection, and when it is left to fester like an untreated wound, it seeps into your bloodstream, slowly poisoning you. I was poisoned by fear.”
“Well...then I think we may have ourselves a bit of a bind...because you see, I can't breathe without you.”
I’m writing this review as I’m reading so I don’t miss a beat. Firstly, just wow! I don’t think there’s enough words for the book heaven I’m in right about now, it’s euphoric. I knew this was going to be one of those books that doesn't leave you, you know the ones? The ones that bury themselves deep inside your very core? This was one of those.
Like I said I wrote this review in word so I didn't miss anything out so I'll start from the beginning. I LOVE the soundtrack, I played each song while reading the correlating chapter! It's not necessary to do if you need silence while reading but it made it deeper for me and I 100% recommend you go listen to the playlist after reading...like now. In chapter 3, you and me by Lifehouse was the perfect song and I found myself grinning like the Cheshire cat while it played. I got excited at every new chapter knowing I had new songs to play to go along with the words that had me hooked. Thank you for introducing me to some beautiful and emotion evoking songs and artists, they will be a staple in my everyday playlist and when I listen to them I will think of Charlie and Easton.
Now onto the story, the toe curling, heart pounding, laugh out loud, awe inspiring story. Charlie just wants to be accepted for who she is and is running away to finally find herself while Easton is running away to get away from himself and his life back in New York. Both on the journey to discovery they find themselves at loggerheads with each other. At first their relationship was sarcastic and a little volatile as they both were irritated and confused by their attraction and pull towards one another. But as the story moves on the development of the relationship is beautiful and believable.
“I freeze as my eyes find his, the space between us almost closing like the zooming in of a camera lens…”
The way in which their feelings are described towards each other and the war inside their heads just gave me chills, the writing there was nothing short of beautiful and...well...this book…all the feels…seriously. And while I normally find myself drawn to one character more than the other, I really couldn't choose and wouldn't want to, I loved them both equally and I related to them both.
The secondary characters were just as well written, I loved Cherry! She helped bring the story to life and gave insight into an Easton we were curious to find out about.
“Fear is a common emotion, an infection, and when it is left to fester like an untreated wound, it seeps into your bloodstream, slowly poisoning you. I was poisoned by fear.” These words seeped into my skin and left me breathless, such a beautiful analogy and this wasn't the only one. These author's have a way of writing straight to your heart.
There were parts that had me inwardly fist punching the air, moments I couldn't stop grinning and moments where everything hit me right in the feels and there was nothing I could do about it...hook line and sinker.
Just know that when you read this book you'll be left with a warm fuzzy feeling that you don't want to go away. I finished WFTE a little over 15 minutes ago and I'm sitting here thinking 'what am I going to do with myself now? I'm a little sad that it's finished, but I'm happy as hell I got to read, experience and love these characters. I devoured this book in a single day but it won't be leaving me anytime soon.
In conclusion, I have no more words but BRAVO, and I will hold Charlie and Easton in my heart with my other treasured book characters. Thank you Katie and Eleanor.

I really enjoyed this story about two characters who are searching for themselves whilst running away from themselves and their pasts.
I love the way that it was written, you cannot tell it was written by two authors, there is no jump in style at any point in the story. There was a point the middle of the story where things did start to drag a little but it soon picked up and once the secrets started to unravel I was unable to put it down.
Every so often books come along that just blow you away, every so often a book comes along that blows you away and touches your heart…this is one of those books. Its a read that will pull you into to Easton and Charlies world. The words, the emotions will hit your heart, from the very first page you just know this book is going to be special. The writing is beautiful, the words and descriptions captivating. Easton is running from his past, he goes where his feet take him travelling with his best friend Cherry and a group of friends around Amsterdam.Hes trying to put to rest the loss he feels, the pain and betrayal and finally move on with his life.Saying it is easy doing it is something else…. Charlie is a free spirit, stubborn yet insecure leaving behind a troubled homelife, problems with being accepted for who she is and not what everyone expects her to be.Nursing her own heartache and insecurities she meets up with Cherry and her group she agrees to join them and off they go but one member of the group doesn’t seem as keen to have her along!! At first their relationship is a lot of pushing and pulling ,both feeling an attraction, both trying to deny it.East cant help but be abrasive and abrupt towards her,hes been captivated by her since he first saw her in the café but knows he isn’t ready.Charlie is drawn to the stand offish brooding miserable Easton, they butt heads and spar with each other all the while the attraction burning in the background. But she never feels good enough and is afraid to let herself feel. When Charlie realises she has left something important to her behind Easton offers to travel back with her to get it.This is where everything changes for them,a friendship grows,an understanding of each others needs and wants, they spend time just being around each other and a deep bond begins to develop, the walls they have erected slowly melting away, but both are keeping their painful pasts to themselves how will the other react when they finally confide in each other? When circumstances force Eastons hand will he lose Charlie for good just when hes began to feel again? And Charlie, can she escape her insecurities and trust in Easton?
So many emotions,so many feelings I experienced with this book.Katie and Eleanor have done a stellar job,I was hooked from start to finish trying to read whenever I could. They brought to life so many touching deeply emotional moments i almost thought I was there too!!! Secondary characters were fabulous too, especially Cherry the wise and supportive best friend I loved her!! Eastons family are amazing the relationship he shares with his sister and father touching.Charlie isn’t so lucky in that department, but despite this she has turned into a beautiful young caring woman. The playlist included with each chapter is amazing and adds extra feeling to what you are reading. Each song intune with what you are reading. Travel this journey with Easton and Charlie you wont be disappointed!!
Some books you read and easily forget them - and others stay with you forever. Whispers from The East is most definitely a "stay-with-you-forever" book.
From the very start the style of writing just flowed and I couldn't help but keep turning the pages, desperate to see the story unfold - to the point where I would read while cooking dinner and sneak every opportunity I could just to read a little more. I just couldn't help but devour the book in a day!
Charlie and Easton are both running from their pasts and trying to 'find' themselves in a world where they are desperate to leave their pasts behind. Charlie needs to remove herself from the people who try to control her and Easton can't forgive himself for his past transgressions.
To begin with they are both confused by the attraction they seem to have with each other but neither are willing to admit to it and seem to be quite stand-offish about the whole situation. Charlie is quite 'snippy' whereas Easton comes across as a bit of an a**e!
The story unfolds where they are thrown together and have to spend some alone time with each other - I think secretly they are both quite happy with this - and finally they both start to bring down the walls that they hide behind.
There is so much to like about this story, it is beautifully told, the writing style and descriptive way in which it is written is spot on, it isn't rushed to a conclusion as so many stories tend to be these days. The main characters are believable and likeable, I can also say this about the secondary characters and would love to see spin-off stories featuring them.
The relationship between Easton and his parents is wonderful, but especially with his father. Every son should have a relationship with his father like this one. Charlie's father is the total villain of the piece and you would totally like to throat punch him!
There are parts of the story where you really want to give both Charlie and Easton a great big hug - Chapter 29 nearly broke me - times when your heart hurts and breaks for them and times when you can't help but smile at the humour. You are really rooting for them to get their HEA.
I have read books by both authors before and thoroughly enjoyed every single one, they are amongst my top reads of 2016. I can honestly say that as a co-written venture - you did really good ladies, although if I'm being totally honest, I don't think I was ever in any doubt!! I look forward to whatever comes next from both of you. AMAZING!!!!
Both are searching the world for peace but what they find is home. When Easton first meets Charlie, he feels something for the first time in months. He's on guard and Charlie is a danger to him. He recognizes the disquiet he feels in her and it scares him. For Charlie, Easton's hostility is nothing new. She has finally decided to stop living for people who don't consider her as anything more than a possession. Together, they go on a journey of self discovery, slowly they each reveal themselves to the other and find that life as they know it will never be the same. This is a touching story and I wholeheartedly urge everyone to read Whispers from the East. This story touched me deeply and helped me come to one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. Easton and Charlie's courtship shows how the soul will reach out and find what it needs to be nourished. You cheer for them, cry with them and ultimately love with them.
Charlie has no idea who she really is. But she's desperate to find out. After growing up in a loveless home where her parents are more interested in presenting the right image and scoring the next big deal, Charlie takes of travelling to find not only who she is but where she belongs.
Easton has become bitter, twisted and pretty much an asshole to everyone who crosses his path. He, like Charlie is taking his time touring Europe trying to out run the past that haunts him.
When the two broken, lost hearts meet sparks fly and harsh words are tossed about but the moment the two are forced to spend time together, relying on only the other, suddenly their dark lives have a ray of light shining through.
Great characters fill this book with colourful lives (and hairstyles). A book about figuring out who you are, where you belong and the need to let go of the past in order to get to your happily ever after.
Oh my lord! Where to begin? I have read both Katie Fox and Eleanor Lloyd-Jones separately and knew they had a similar writing style and boy was I thrilled when I started reading Whispers From The East! Their words together flow in this breathtaking book that paints a magnificent picture in the readers mind. I want to pack up and go backpacking in Europe now with the adventure and thrill in this book. This book reminds me of a warm hug; it embraces you and pulls you into the warmth that never wants to let go! I look forward to seeing more of them paired up in the future.
Charlotte is lost and alone, and is just drifting through life. Easton is just as lost, despite being surrounded by friends. This is a beautifully written story by these very talented authors’, who certainly know how to spin a tale. I was captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and look forward to reading more of their wok in the future. Brilliant work Ladies!!
I enjoyed this book, which is the first book I have read from either author. I liked the characters and loved Charlie’s journey of discovery. Easton is a lovely guy even if he spends a long time in the book brooding. The plot is interesting and keeps the reader engaged. This is not my usual type of book but it was nice to take a leap out of my comfort read zone. The book is well written and there are some thought provoking ideas and themes that run through the book. Overall it was definitely an enjoyable read and I would happily read more books by these authors.

I was given this book by the authors for an honest review and I must admit from the first time I laid eyes on the teasers I was concurred.
This book is so much more than just a story, it's an emotion wrapped in paper pages. I wrote notes for my review; now let's see if I can organize them.
First off, plot flow: it was a VERY smooth read. The story rolls from one situation to the next while holding you spell bound by secrets and the intrigue of getting to know both East and Charlie. You basically learn them at the same pace they learn one another. Which means you have difficulty putting the freaking thing down because you get driven as hell to peel the layers on these characters.
This was so well done that the people within the book truly have dimensions to their personalities. Nothing is black and white about their thoughts. They truly feel real because they aren't predictable or boring.
Next is chemistry: there is insane chemistry between East and Charlie from the moment they fill the same breathing space. You almost get a sense of past life love and it echoes throughout the book.
Their story was definitely a hot and erotic ride but it's also more than that, it's a journey of very true love.
East: East is the typical male model of "still waters that run deep" and that is honestly my kind of man. He's not the kind to put his whole life out there to a stranger which means his female lead has to earn his respect and earn his inner circle of trust. He was so truly "MAN" in the sense that, he acted, sounded, reacted in a genuine way that made him believable.
He was a book boyfriend to rival many a book boyfriend. Handsome, funny, witty and kind. He was also so deliciously dependable and romantic but from the heart!
Charlie: this girl won my heart AND my soul from line one. I have a beautiful image of this pink haired vixen in my mind. She was breathed so much soul from these writers that she felt eerily real. Her emotions are raw and her maturity was well balanced with her innocence for her age. Likable Is the word that comes to mind. There is no disliking Charlie. She's far too fantastic! Down to how she dresses.
One other thing I found intriguing about her was her honesty. The authors gave her a true sense of self in the way that she is working to be a certain way but what makes her honest and perfect is that her attempts are flawed and she knows it. It's not just the pretty girl trying to be independent and suddenly becomes successful of it overnight. She's also not the girl who claims to be independent but isn't, yet lies to herself and others.
She's 100% real because she is working at developing "into" an independent but "knows" she's a work in progress and strives to evolve like ALL of us do! That's what won me about this character. She's authentic!
The growth of both these characters is AUTHENTIC!
As for the comedy, just know that no matter how heavy things in this book may get at times it's so well balanced by humor! Healthy, human, typical life humor that breaks up the tension and adds to the bond between characters and readers.
As many times as I hiccuped on a cry I snorted on a laugh! This is a book about LIFE. Not just love but love that's cultivated and born from LIFE. It's not even drama, I feel drama is a cheap word to describe this book. It's reality! It's hopeful reality.
I absolutely recommend this book. I recommend it to everyone because these characters will never leave me. The talent that was bled into these pages by these two brilliant authors will never fade from my mind.
There's so many lessons to be found between the cover, and back cover of this book. Pick it up and explore it for yourself. Explore the Whispers from the East and see what magic is woven into your soul from it!
Do you ever have a book just come to life in your hands? You find yourself totally immersed and seeing things through the eyes of the characters. For me this was this book. Every word, every character, every description was just perfection. I have read both of Katie Fox's previous books but nothing by Eleanor Lloyd-Jones so although I was familiar with one authors writing style I had no idea about the other and have never read a book by an author who then released a collaboration so I had no idea how it'd work, I wasn't concerned though as the synopsis of the book was more than enough to peak my interest. I didn't read any of the teasers other than that though as I wanted to go in knowing as little about the book as possible. Although I have read more than a hundred books this year I have still somewhat found myself in a slump, the books have been good but I could take them or leave them and I have lost some of the voracious appetite I had for reading but this book changed all that. I literally sat from the first word to the last in the same spot unwilling to move or take my eyes off the words that were in front of me. I really felt as though I'd been transported into the book and was watching it all take place. Charlie and Easton are both searching for something, something that will give them some kind of peace. As characters they were pretty perfect, they had flaws and there were times I just wanted to shake/slap them cause they could be very pigheaded when the mood struck but the flaws were what helped make them real. Easton I would say is in no way the typical alpha male you find in many books. He was a little bit more lost, a little broken and I actually wasn't sure how I felt about him at first but it was all good. He made me fall in love with him as I'm sure everyone else will too. Charlie is young although she does have a good head on her shoulders and you really cant help but like her. She is a sweetheart but with enough fire to ensure she doesn't get constantly trampled on. Each character, no matter how minor they seemed, was written to perfection. They all had a role to play and did it wonderfully. Although there were times they left you wondering as to their motives that was part of the books appeal. The writing in itself was something else. I've no idea how they did it but although it seemed pretty obvious who wrote which part they just gelled. The slightest little nuance was there and nothing was missed. It added a whole new level to the writing style that for me pushed it into flawless. Each time you think you have a bit figured out and knows what coming something else comes at you but it is always done in a way that you know exact what is happening at all times which I appreciate cause there is nothing more confusing than having to go back and reread the same part over and over cause you've no idea whats going on. This book was honestly unlike anything I'd read before and it totally surpassed any expectations I had. It has now found itself as my second favourite book of the year and its only in second place cause Ms Fox released a book I'd been desperate to read since the first earlier in the year. This is certainly what I would call a dynamic writing duo and I hope they have all the success as this book deserves nothing less. I can only finish this by encouraging everyone to go read it cause I can guarantee you will fall under the spell just as sure as I have.
Whispers from the East By Eleanor Lloyd-Jones and Katie Fox
"Despite everything in me telling me not to, I find myself reaching over, the rough pad of my pinky finger brushing against the smooth skin of her palm. I swallow down as her fingers gently twitch and curl inward—so subtly I almost miss their movement—in response to the feeling of me on her skin."
Mistakes. We all make them and we all learn from them. But what if one mistake haunts your soul everyday. Easton has to live with this feeling, has to re-live it over and over. Trying to find solace across the world, Easton is trying to escape the one thing he can't, himself. Charlie isn't your average girl. Pink hair, piercings, tattoos, all the things her parents frown upon. Needing to breathe, Charlie embarks on a self finding trip of her own. When Easton and Charlie's worlds collide, self doubt, adventure and love make Whispers from the East a definite must read!
"It won’t be long before I move on. It won’t be long before I wrap up my belongings and trudge to the next adventure, but I will remember this rooftop. I will remember this city and its hidden beauty. I will remember it always."
Whispers from the East did something to me...it made me feel emotions so raw, it took me a long while to process them. Eleanor and Katie created a masterpiece when they wrote this book. From the character and scene details, to the emotional topics being discussed, Whispers from the East is like nothing I've ever read! Eleanor and Katie's word flowed beautifully together, so well I often felt as though I was watching the story as though it were a movie. Bravo ladies!
Every so often you find a book that catches you unexpected and every turn of the page has you completely captured in the book, pulling at your emotions and totally immersed in the world created by the authors that you could quite possibly be involved in the story.
For me this book was that ! The collaboration between Katie and Eleanor worked beautifully and flowed so elegantly from the page that it it felt like one author had written this story. The dual POV was perfect and added such a great depth and a quality of descriptive nature that really set the scene incredibly well
I adore Easton and how unsure of himself he was because of his past and how he had lost everything. He was on a journey to find himself and found Charlie. Charlie is innocent, but sassy and fun, full of sarcasm and wit and I loved her quirky nature. She was on a journey of self discovery.
The banter between the two was perfect and although they started off on the wrong when the journey to collect a cherished item left behind brings the two together, they start a beautiful friendship.
Everything about the story was easy reading. There was moments of pure joy, and moments of heartache, but it was so worth the journey especially when the true reasoning was revealed behind the turmoil and mistakes.
It simply is such a beautiful, mesmerising story that when you start is difficult to put down. I'm hoping that this collaboration is the first of many between Katie and Eleanor.
Easton is travelling Europe with a group of friends trying to get away from real life and the trauma of a past relationship. He hasn't thought about being with somebody in over a year that is until a young pink haired woman crashes into the cafe they are in and seems to steal his heart the moment he looks at her. His friends encourage Charlie to tag along to their next adventure much to Easton's displeasure, he doesn't want his heart broken again, but when Charlie leaves something at the last hostel Easton finds himself volunteering to accompany her on the trip back. Cue 3 weeks alone together, can Charlie and Easton get along as friends or will the put their pasts behind them and become more?
These were new authors to me and I very much enjoyed this story. The writing was seamless from one author to the next and not at all disjointed like other books I've read written by dual authors. The story flowed nicely and I kept turning the pages to find out the back story of each character but personally I didn't connect with either Easton or Charlie the way I have with other characters. That's not to say others won't, just me personally. The additional characters added to the story and kept it moving until the end. The book ends openly with the possibility of finding out how Easton and Charlie continue their journey together but in no way was it a cliff hanger. All in all I enjoyed this, a 4 star read for me
This is a story about love, life, finding back to yourself and more.....and it was beautifully written by Eleanor & Katie
"This adventure has taught me so much about myself, but as well as that, it has taught me to find beauty in almost everything—beauty in the unexpected"
You really don't wanna miss Charlies & Eastons journey. There were tears, laughter and sometimes i wanted to punch something so hard!!! And the way Mrs. ELJ and Mrs. Fox describe everything you really feel like you are right there with them! Just amazing!
"It was something more than that, something deeper. Even now, as I sit ignoring the conversations rolling on around me, I feel it. Charlie’s eyes finally collide with mine, and I can’t help but think… maybe she does too"
I loooove Charlie & Easton <3 and all the side characters too! (Cherry was awesome!!) They are both running from something (you have to read it, to find out) and in end they find each other <3
This story will stay with me and i hope there will be more in the future! Thank you Eleanor & Katie for writing this beautiful book <3
“Good night, Mr. Serious.” “Good night, Miss Independent"
Whispers from the East is a New Adult/ Contemporary romance, and a full length standalone novel. It is the first work that I have read by either Eleanor or Katie. I praise the authors for having the ability to write and deliver a story that really flowed smoothly. I could not tell when/where one writer transitioned to the next!
What I really loved about the story was how engaging it was; the storyline was interesting and I quickly grew to love each character- flaws and all. Easton and Charlie each had their own individual secrets and insecurities that they needed to confront and work through. As they began to bond and trust each other, they revealed little pieces of themselves slowly. I loved that there was no rushing or pushing from either side.
The chemistry built between them was palpable and the pull was strong. I found it easy to root for them to fall hard for one another!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Whispers from the East; it was a great introduction to both authors' writing style. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a book by either author in the future.
If you're looking for a romance that's sweet but still tugs on your heart a bit, be sure to check this one out!
Where do i begin? This book grabs you from the first page and pulls you in, it touches your heart, your mind and even your soul. This isn't your normal love story, it is THE love story.
First...the Playlist is amazing! The songs, the lyrics..fit this book perfectly. I lose myself in the book so i listened to the songs prior. Definitely worth listening!
Each book i read is like meeting a new friend, Easton and Charlie intrigued me from the moment of introduction! Two very lost souls trying to find their way and in the process find each other. Sometimes all anyone needs is one person to show you that its okay to let your guard down, be yourself and love without regrets...Easton is that for Charlie and she is that for him. Together they find strength and courage to let go of the past and throw caution to the wind. The journey in which they go on to find what was standing in front of them all along is amazing, tearjerking and soulful.
This was my first read from either one of these amazing authors and I know it wont be my last!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I liked it a lot. I especially liked Charlie's character. I felt she was a fighter and I liked her spunk. I did like Easton too, but it was a little more difficult for me to like him, I thought he was selfish at times and nasty for no good reason. I thought the middle of the book dragged a little bit and then the end felt rushed. I definitely would have liked some more answers. We didn't really get any sense of where Charlie or Easton were going with their lives, where they were going to live, were they just going to keeping traveling (using what money?), going to college, etc. I didn't get a good enough answer to the Tommy/Bethany situation, what was the deal with Lorenzo and where was Axel at the end? I also thought it was weird that Easton tells Lily that his parents lost everything to bail him out, yet he spends a whole year traveling and trying to throw out a diamond ring. Why not just sell it? Well, this is how my mind works. I need everything all wrapped up in a bow. LOL

OMG I LOVED THIS STORY !!!!!!!! would give more then 5 stars if I could it was written by two beautifully talented authors if you haven't read Housing Elephants or Embracing Moments series you need to one click those babies because your misssin out on some awesomeness . Love both Charlotte and Easton such unique names and characteristics the chemistry between them is instant even though they deny their attraction for each other they do butt heads . the travel aspect was beautiful I love travailing even the different accents im an accent lover just WOW I felt so many emotions while reading this had to cuddle with my dog a couple times love when a book makes you fell strong emotions to were it fells like you know what the characters are going threw thats what these ladies do they give you the emotion that you look for cant wait to see more work that they come up with .
I was wrapped up tight in this story from beginning to end. It gave me all the feels.
Whispers From The East is a beautiful and touching love story. It’s a story about Charlie, a girl who wants to be accepted and loved, and Easton, a young man who was deeply hurt and is trying to put to rest the pain he feels. Both are searching for something and they find love. Fate or chance brings them together and "this adventure” teaches them “to find beauty in almost everything—beauty in the unexpected".
At moments, the story broke my heart because their pain, their struggles felt so real. Katie and Eleanor have done an amazing job with this book. Deep, likable characters and interesting storyline packed with emotion will touch your heart. I recommend everyone to take a chance on Whispers From The East!
Let's just say that this book was awesome from beginning to end. Once I got started it was hard to put down. So many emotions played through as I read the book. The authors did a wonderful job at writing this. At first I did have a hard time reading the British portion, but once I got the knack, it got easier. This book certainly will stick with me and will be one that I will pick up again to read. I loved the playlist that the authors gave and it made me feel closer to the characters.
Easton likes to be the one in control while Charlie on the other hand is stubborn and strong willed (reminds me of me...lol). You learn a lot about Easton and Charlie and what their lives are like. They travel with a group of people and they are Cherry, Axel and Enzo. They each have their own personality. I personally would love to see what their stories take off from this book.
This book was an enjoyable read. The characters were interesting and the story flowed very well, even though the characters weren't an instant hit with me. This was not insta-love (thank god) but more of a journey. There was a mixture of sexy and sweet, and the opening up of East was a journey in itself as was Charlie's flawed way of finding herself. The characters remained true to themselves throughout the story and work their way through their feelings for themselves and each other. Some parts were overly descriptive for my tastes, but when there are characters you feel like hitting or hugging then you know a book is getting to you.
Man meets girl. Girl meets man. Lots of emotions throughout the story. I truly enjoyed that part of the writing. What I did miss was everything else. How old is he? How is he paying for everything he does, including his own home in New York? What about the sister and the friends Cherry, Enzo etc.? No details about them either. And how about the girl, Charlie? What does she do, other than living of her daddy's money? There's so much depth and background information missing in this novel. But again, these two authors are pros in describing feelings, emotions, anger, love, and pain, and that's why I gave it four stars instead of the three I initially wanted to give.
This is the first book I have read by these Authors and I was blown away. This is a emotional rollercoaster of a book but all in the best of ways. Easton is trying to find his place in this world after a heartbreak he didn't see coming. Charlie is just trying to live after a life of doing as Daddy says. Two Lost Souls running away from life. When they both finally let there walls down they find love but will the secrets they keep tear them apart. This book is amazing. Deserves more then 5 stars. Great plot and characters. The friends everyone wishes they had..
I've just finished this book, like literally 30 seconds ago and all I can say is WOWZA! The whole book is so beautifully written and I actually have tears in my eyes right now. Charlie and Easton... what can I say? They're made for each other. I felt like I was there, with them, every second of the way. Katie and Eleanor? You're amazing, simply amazing and I want to say a HUGE thank you for writing this absolutely beautiful book. Charlie and Easton will be forever in my heart and I know that in years to come I'll remember this book word for word!
The book starts off with two people hating each other and then having to take a journey together whilst also taking a journey of recovery and discovery about themselves. The book took me a while to get into and I didn’t connect very well with the characters till I was about a quarter of the way into the book and this is why the rating is 4 stars rather than 5 stars but once I had clicked with the characters I enjoyed the book and didn’t expect the twists and turns that happened towards the end. This story was BEAUTIFULLY AMAZING! Top read of 2016! EMOTIONAL, HEARTBREAKING, BREATHTAKING. This story had me all over the place with my emotions. I loved meeting Charlie and Easton. These authors did an amazing job putting a story together that I loved, from the characters, to the book cover, music, video trailer and who's getting the last word in;). I would love to see this story come to theatres. Definitely 5 Brilliant "TWINKLING" Stars!
