Initially, I thought this was going to be the perfect book for my paper. Then, I started reading it and found the author's voice to be a bit didactic and patronizing. So, this book is a little dated, but it provides decent overview of typography.

Memorable quotation: "Elephants' memories are reputedly greater than men's, but mankind has won mastery of the Earth because it has remembered its past and put it to use. The elephant has not" (16).

Poor elephants. Makes me wish they would take world power just to prove J. Ben Lieberman wrong.
