I wont lie, I cried. My two daughters and I have been reading along with Junie B. Jones this school year and trying to coordinate the books with my oldest daughter’s school activities.

Today we finished this book as it is my oldest daughter’s last day of kindergarten and tomorrow she turns six years old, just like Junie B.

We cannot wait to go on more adventures with Junie B. Jones in first grade!!!!

This is one of the best books of the series up to this point. Sometimes the Junie B. Jones stories are just very cleverly written and unparalleled in terms of humor quotient, but Junie B. Jones Is a Graduation Girl adds an extra dimension of emotional depth to the narrative, really showing us the qualities about Junie B. that cause us to love her so much. She's more than just a mouthy kindergartner with an uncanny penchant for always putting herself in the middle of hilarious misadventures; she's also a girl with a lot of potential for caring about her friends and family. Even though her over-the-top excitement about her life and eagerness to rush right into things without thinking them through properly often gets her into trouble, I still believe Junie B. Jones is a good girl. After all, what kindergartner doesn't get into a few awkward situations?

After nine months of afternoon kindergarten and sixteen books describing those beginning days of her scholastic career, Junie B. Jones is finally set to graduate from Mrs.'s class. There are some pretty nifty surprises that go along with a graduation ceremony, including a white cap and gown (not cat and gown, I'm sad to say) that all of the students will wear as they receive their kindergarten diplomas. Mrs. cautions her students not to play with their pristine white graduation gowns before the big day because more likely then not they would accidentally end up getting dirty, but this is a directive that Junie B. isn't completely keen on following. It takes some doing to finagle the box in which her cap and gown are stored out of the place where her mother has hidden it away from Junie B., but when our favorite soon-to-be-ex-kindergartner tries on the full regalia to show her eager stuffed animals, catastrophe strikes. Now it's up to the creatively endowed Junie B. to be cool under pressure and think of a way out of this jam. Will her idea work well enough to mask her mistake when it comes time for the graduation ceremony?

With so many years in real time between the publication of the first Junie B. Jones book and this one, which in a sense was bringing a close to a special era for so many fans of the series, Barbara Park really knew how to acknowledge the feelings of kids who had followed Junie B. since her first escapade with the "Stupid, Smelly Bus", and were now watching her actually graduate from kindergarten. Barbara Park allows those feelings to have their natural play without making the book entirely about that, and most important, she never loses her perspective on who Junie B. Jones really is, and why we love her. Best of all, the book's closing passage hints ahead to the beginning of Junie B.'s new upcoming year as a first grader, letting us know that her finishing kindergarten is not an end to her story, but a transition point as life moves forward and Junie B. brings her unique self to meet the new fun challenges of the yet unknown. And we'll be right there to see it all, and laugh and smile some more.

This really is a very nice book, and I recommend it as one of the top entries of the entire Junie B. Jones series for its skillful mix of humor and meaningful story. Barbara Park always does it the right way.

Included in my personal Goodreads rules, I must log and review ALL chapter books I read, consequently, Junie B. makes the list. Luna will graduate from Kindergarten in a couple of weeks, so we HAD to read this gem.

I am a HUGE fan of Junie B. Jones books, and this one doesn't disappoint. This is Luna first introduction to the series and ALSO gives it 5 stars. "Dats my faborite!" she says. And now I'm off to Barnes & Noble to get her more and more and more.

I read Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl. Junie is graduating kindergarten and she is very excited but scared at the same time. All the students have caps and gowns to wear for graduation. They're to take them home and not open them. Well, Junie B. hardly listens. She spills grape juice on the gown and to cover it up or to blend it in, she colors purple polka dots onto the gown. Junie B. goes to school Friday for graduation and everyone laughs at her because she messed up. The teacher, Mrs. takes her in the hall to talk about it. When Junie B. and Mrs. go back in, everyone has poka dots on their gowns. Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl has a good message in it. Even if you mess up, you'll still have people to support and love you know matter what. I recommend this book to almost everyone. It's a short story but it's also really good, and you get a great message out of it.

Next to Ramona Junie is just the best! Junie is sure to help early readers over the hump to chapter books. She is totally hilariousl, out-of-control and the coolest kid in books in years.
No one could resist her adventures in school and out.
This experienced primary teacher would never want to teach without Junie B.

I had never read this books until last summer. My summer camp kids brought this in for me to read during our story time. I fell in love with Junie B. Barbara Park created a very interesting, and humorous character who can not stay out of trouble. Children seem to love these stories and I will be adding them to my classroom library.

This is another cute Junie B. Jones book! Junie B. is graduating from kindergarten. “My cap got run over by a truck, I think…It is a big, square flatso” (27).

“The next morning, my grampa Frank Miller came to baby-sit. I love that baby-sitter very much! ‘Cause he doesn’t even follow the rules, that’s why!” (38).

This is such a cute book for kindergarteners who are preparing to graduate. It would make a wonderful read-aloud as they are getting excited about their big day! 👩‍🎓 👨‍🎓

Such a sweet story. I'm really loving all the Junie B. Jones books - especially as I'm reading most for the first time ever. Junie B. and Principal were hilarious. Mrs. soothing Junie B. and Junie B. "not buying it" was great. And I loved how her class was there for her / showed their regret at the end.

my very sweet (law school) graduation gift from my parents; i grew up with junie b. jones so it makes perfect sense! this book was also published the year i was born so that feels special to me. funny read as always, and particularly enjoyable to reflect on how many of my strange english mannerisms came from these books ("on account of" in lieu of "because" being one, haha). will always be a treasured gift on my shelf!

Junie is always funny and silly (her animal voiceovers are her at her essence), but I was so impressed with the kindness in this ending that I thought it was perfectly timed for own rising first grader. They really do grow so much during the kindergarten year, and acceptance is one of the most important lessons.

Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl

Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl is written by Barbara Parks. It has an interest level for third through fifth grade, a grade level equivalent of 2.2, a Lexile measurement of 330L, and a guided reading level of M. The genres include humor and realistic fiction. The themes presented for Junie B. is a Graduation Girl are new experiences, conduct, friendship, and school life.

This book is about a young student, Junie B. Jones. She is just about to graduate from kindergarten and was given a white graduation cap and gown. Her whole class was given instructions to leave their cap and gown in the box to prevent them from getting ruined before graduation. Leave it to Junie B. to take matters into her own hands.

I think students in grades kindergarten through second grade would really enjoy this book mostly because of its humor. For younger students this book could be read aloud by a teacher. Students could make predictions throughout the book; maybe they already predicted that Junie B. was going to ruin her graduation gown. The book is also written from Junie B.'s perspective and written as though she’s telling the story. Students may also go through certain chapters and try to correct some of her grammatical errors. They could even rewrite a chapter for Junie the correct way. Students may also want to put themselves in Junie's shoes and think about what they may have done differently if they were in her situation, would they have followed their teacher’s instructions or would they have been anxious to take the cap and gown out of the box as well? This book has multiple different teaching points. Barbara Parks also has several different Junie B. Jones books that students may read if they are interested in this book.

All the children in Room Nine are excited when they get their bright white graduation gowns. Mrs. says to keep them in their boxes until the big day. But Junie B. Jones just can’t help herself. Then–uh-oh!–an accident happens! Junie B. Jones has just turned six and is looking forward to her kindergarten graduation, but when grape juice stains the white gown she could not resist trying on, she is afraid graduation is ruined.
I like this book, because it's funny how kindergarden will graduate. They don't know anything about what they gone do. This book is about the kids that sad, because they think when they will graduate and they will go to the first grade they can't stay with their friend in room 9 anymore. They didn't know what should they wear and how is the first grade. I think that junie b jones is a very funny girl and the book Junie B jones is a graduation girl is very funny and cool

Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl is a fun story that shows character and acceptance. Junie B. Jones is a rascal to say the least. She is always getting in trouble. When the end of the year roles around the students in Room Nine are graduating and they get a 'cat and gown'. The only problem is, the gown is white. White it probably not the smartest idea for a group of rambunctious 5 year olds. When graduation day roles around, the whole class soon learns that Junie B. did not follow orders and her gown is now covered in 'purple polka dotties' to cover up the grape juice dribblets. When Junie B. feel embarrassed about the situation her classmates come together to create a very 'colorful' graduating class. I thought the story was not only funny but that it concluded with a great message. Junie B. Jones is a great series for beginning readers and the author does an amazing job relating to everyday problems that kids may face.

Summary: Junie B. Jones is finally graduating from Kindergarten. She had a lot of ups and downs during her kindergarten years but she made. Last pit stop was graduation. The students were given their gaps and gowns, but they were told not to touch it until day of. Knowing Junie B. Jones she just could not resist. Her cap and gown become and huge mess. On the day of graduation she came in with spot galore and her classmates decided to make her feel less embarrassed so they all colored spots on their gowns and marched on to graduate from kindergarten.

Evaluation: This book is a great transition from early to transitional reader. It has big text and pictures here and there. A teaching point that you can hit on is the transition from one grade to another.

Questions:
1.Who is scared to go to the (following) grade?
2.What are some emotions you have about leaving? (current grade)
3.What would you do if you were in Junie B. Jones' shoes?
