Going Beyond the Little White Book: A Contemporary Guide to Tarot

Rate this book
Reading tarot can be an incredible, illuminating experience. The cards offer valuable insights and guidance into many aspects of our lives, from relationships to career to personal growth.

But learning how to interpret each card can feel overwhelming. Many tarot decks come with instructions - little white books that give short descriptions for each card - but they don't always put tarot into modern-day context, or offer the level of detail you're looking for.

Going Beyond the Little White Book sets out to change all of that. Here, you'll find up-to-date interpretations for all 78 tarot cards, including:

- Questions and prompts to help you make personal connections to each card;
- Tips on how to interpret cards that appear as challenges versus opportunities;
- Meditations for every card;
- And more!

Whether you're just starting out as a tarot reader, or want to refresh your knowledge of the cards, the book will give you practical interpretations to help you understand tarot in a whole new way.

My latest title, Going Beyond the Little White Book: A Contemporary Guide to Tarot, is now here.

This is my fifth book, and the first I've written on the subject of tarot.

In 2017, my latest poetry collection, The Truth is Told Better This Way, will be published by BookThug.

I thought her one and only career would be as a writer, but I started reading tarot in 2008 on the advice of an astrologer and my life has never been the same.

Today I tarot help others move past emotional and creative blocks, overcome any obstacles or setbacks, and begin to live their truth through personal freedom and creative liberation.

I'm based in Toronto, but read and teach clients all over the world thanks to the wonders of Skype.

Locally, I read tarot at Likely General and SeeSaw Cafe, as well as at a number of events throughout the city.

I also write an astrology column for Spiral Nature (www.spiralnature.com).

If you'd like to book a private reading with me, or sign up for a workshop, please visit my website.

Interested in more of my writing? Feel free to check out my current books: PostApoc (fiction), Amphetamine Heart (poetry), and Treat Me Like Dirt: An Oral History of Punk in Toronto and Beyond (non-fiction).

I find poetry in empty parking lots, inspiration on long bus rides, and clarity in the woods.

Lifelong obsessions include The Smiths, ghosts, black leather boots, John Hughes movies, The Outsiders, Poppy Z. Brite, The Cure, experimental writing, early mornings, thrift stores, and bike rides.

An absolutely amazing book about tarot and my go-to recommendation for anyone looking to learn more! I love how much time and detail Worth gives to each card, as well as the prompts at the end of the descriptions that allow you to reflect on what the card could mean to you. Also very insightful explanations of reversals/challenging positions and the court cards, both of which are notoriously tricky to interpret. An indispensable reference guide for anyone with even a passing interest in tarot!

It was interesting to read "Going Beyond the Little White Book" through two points of view at the same time, one as a long time Tarot reader but also as a Tarot teacher. The teaching side is where the book shines. There are many books that talk about card symbolisms and meanings, and there are books on the other end of the spectrum that talk more generally about Psychic development and spiritual growth, but few build a bridge between the two. 'Going Beyond' begins to build exactly that bridge by putting the basic card meaning and connecting it to a broader context. It takes the card meaning and helps the new Tarot reader take what they have learned from the infamous "LWB" and put it into practical use. Liz worth has created an indispensible next step for beginner to early intermediate Tarot readers.

This guide was recommended to me by a friend, and I really like it. Each card has a to-the-point title phrase, an intention, mantra, and really useful set of questions in addition to the card interpretations. I like how straightforward and practical her interpretations are, as well as how conversational the writing is. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a reference guide to the meanings of the cards.
