Caleb had extraordinary character and impressive stamina. Although he endured many hardships, he kept a positive attitude and learned to cerate grand opportunities. Even at age eighty-five he was healthy, full of life, and hopeful about the future. Renowned Church scholor Brent Barlow has formed six guidlines taken from Caleb's biblical record for living a happy and exemplary life. Incorporated into your lifestyle, these simple guidelines can help you improve your way of life and overall well-being, whether you be eighteen or eighty-two.
I liked it,mostly because I couldn't help but make comparison's between my Caleb and his namesake. One of them being how wholly they follow the Lord. Caleb is one of the few people who I find not to be "lukewarm" regarding the things he believes in.
This is my second read of this small but mighty book. Of the many great characters in the Old Testament, Caleb is lesser known than most all with very few references made. Of those few that are found, they speak of a devoted servant and exemplar of God. Brent Barlow does a great job of laying out some of the principles that Caleb followed - or may have followed - that seem to have served him well in his quest for discipleship. Might that also serve as a pattern of us in our own desires to follow and serve God and find ultimate joy and satisfaction? I hope to be able to say, as did Caleb, at that some point in my life, "Give me this mountain."
Really interesting self help book. Did you ever think of Caleb as someone to model your life after? Do you even know who Caleb was? You have to go to Exodus to begin to learn about him. I hope that when I'm 85 I can claim to be as strong as I had been at age 40. "Now therefore give me this mountain." Joshua 14:12
This is just a fantastic book. Excellent examples of understanding this cryptic Old Testament figure and the impact he can have in your life if you will open up to his messages, principles and values. His creed is just six simple steps to guide your feet in this mortal journey and it is profound.
This was really short, but good self-evaluation book. Professor Barlow uses an Israelite - Caleb, who followed Moses on the exodus out of Egypt - to teach about following the Lord, taking care of our health, and over all being good people. I really enjoyed it, especially Chapter 2 about exploring new territory.
This was a quick easy, interesting read. It gave you a lot to think about. In some ways it was like a workbook to help you realize what changes you might need to make in your life, and to evaluate where you are.
This book was enlighting and rewarding to read. There were six concise guidelines for happiness and growth given that we can all follow and be better off by so doing.
