Manlihood: The 12 Pillars of Masculinity

Rate this book
Our culture has somehow begun to assassinate masculinity. Part of that may be justified, as many men historically have lacked moral character, and not respected others the way they should. But this book contends that there is something honorable about men - especially those who live honorably.
The 12 Pillars of Manhood will help men embrace their honor - help men live lives of integrity, strength, and passion.

Manlihood: The 12 Pillars of Masculinity by Josh Hatcher is a personal development book focused on redefining masculinity through values like integrity, strength, and responsibility.

The book pushes back against negative stereotypes around masculinity while also acknowledging that some criticisms are valid. It then builds a framework around what the author sees as honorable manhood, offering guidance on how men can live with purpose and character.

What stands out is the direct, no-frills tone. It feels more like a conversation than a lecture, which makes the ideas easy to follow. The structure around “pillars” also helps break things into clear, practical concepts.

A solid read for anyone interested in personal growth, especially men looking for a values-based approach to identity and self-discipline.

Josh has a great knack for bringing home what it means to be a man. In this book, Josh brings together the 12 pillars that are essential for a man to be all that he is called to be. Not only is it vital for men, but for boys who are on the edge of becoming a man. From integrity to how to treat a woman to sex to the value a man has in himself, you will find yourself captivated by this expose on how to be a man.

I was challenged to find respect in myself as a man. Not in a prideful way, but in a way that will make me a better husband, father, and altogether good man of God.
