USA TODAY & AMAZON #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR • ONE OF THE BEST NEW VOICES IN THE ACTION THRILLER GENRE • With over 250,000 books sold, and well over 1,000 five star reviews on Amazon, the Sam Prichard series is quickly storming the charts. David Archer's ability to create exciting, page-turning, action and suspense is second to none. Fans can't get enough it, but don't take my word for it. See what all the fuss is about before Archer becomes a household name!

Sam Prichard doesn't usually see ghosts, despite his mother-in-law and her hallucinatory friend, Beauregard. However, when a man is murdered right in front of him, Sam doesn't forget a face, and when he sees that face again, and the life, in an extremely embarrassing situation, he can't help but wonder what's going on.

How could the dead man and his doppelgänger be connected to Sam's latest case, proving a client innocent of murdering his best friend? Some people think Sam has gone to the dogs over this one, because that's exactly who he has to go to for help to solve not just one murder but two. It's the wildest and craziest case Sam has ever been involved in, and the big question might be whether he will even survive.

A pleasant, lightweight murder mystery with loveable characters. As always, I value books that include people of all stripes in them. The writer could benefit from an editor’s eye, but overall it was an entertaining story.

An interesting book. Sam keeps trying to retire from being a P.I., but gets back into it. This time he has 2 cases, both involving spouses. One is arrested for the murder of a friend. Motive, he received a letter saying his wife was cheating on him with this friend. Another, a wife says her husband is acting strange and wants Sam to find out why. As Sam investigates, he finds the 2 cases end up being related. Good book I like the fact the author imbedded a sound bite into the story, than can be listened to.

Thin writing, feathers unruffled

This was my first exposure to this series and this novel is called Part 2 of Book 1. The author has a good plot, but the writing is thin. I come away with no picture of characters or settings. Even the thinking could be elaborated. The path our PI takes is smooth, without significant conflicts or barriers. If Sam were a duck, his feathers would remain unruffled.

I just discovered Sam Pritchard. He's amazing, he's dedicated, and he's brilliant. Along with this wife, he manages to solve several fatal incidents, and he kept me up all night because I couldn't get to sleep until I found out whodunit. Cleverly tying all the clues together to for an exciting package, he let me finally get to sleep satisfied that all would now be well. At least til next time.

Not my usual genre. Enjoyed it for a different type of read. Different. Storyline unusual, but interesting.

I actually read this book aloud to my husband because (1) Covid and (2) it was short. He wanted me to add a star for my narration (especially because I modeled Indie's voice on my MIL), but that would not be fair--we are not reviewing an audiobook here. So, the writing was sophomoric, the plot was far-fetched, and the characters were flat. I am adding a star for the humor. Whether it was intentional or not is hard to tell, but there were times we laughed uproariously, so the extra star is deserved. Unfortunately, this book was terribly edited--occasionally Sam spoke in the first voice, which was clearly an error, and there were typos galore. Cannot recommend to any literature lovers, and there are better samples of the genre out there, but clearly the author has many fans, so good on him!

Too short

I like Archer as a writer enjoying both his Sam Pritchard books and love Noah Wolfe. Ghost is a good story of intermingled stories....Jack with Freddie his dog both of whom limp, bring the story of poison pen letters which lead on to murder. This murder becomes connected to the murder of a man who ran out in front of Sam's car when he was driving his wife back from a nice evening's dinner. My one criticism is that with stories connecting l felt the book was very short only taking just over 2 hours. It seemed to all happen very fast and simply end and actually even before Sam could see why Daniel was different l had already worked it out and then the slip in an interview lead to the truth. All very quick.
Won't stop me reading the next book tomorrow night.

Loved the book from start to finish!! The author got right into the story and kept it going without a lot of 'fill-in stuff'. Lots of twists in this book but I had an idea who was hit by the car after Sam made the statement that he saw someone before. (I don't want to give too much away with that statement) But if you want to have a great read go for this book!!! I am looking into more stories by this author. This was a first time I have read his work.

Better

This is the second Sam Prichard I've read and it's better than the first although for the first book Sam had a bad marriage and did not want to rush into things and in this one he's married the girl that he took in from his previous novel that does not make sense, and when they talk to each other it gets rather sickly with hundreds and babe, still it's not English, the story was not bad but easily worked out.

Great book a must read

This is another good Sam Prichard book. Sam and India investigate one case.. Then get another case and it turns out to be related. This all starts when a man runs out in front of Sam and India in there way home and is killed. This is a must read. Especially if you have read the first nine books.

Once again author David Archer took me for a ride. Sam Prichard doesn't have to look for things to happen, just wait a few minutes and they will. Kept me involved from beginning to end. Won't be long, and I'll be working on finishing the Sam Prichard series and starting on other series waiting in the wings for me. Life is good when you have lots to read. That's my job and I enjoy it immensely.

Fast paced

The story became more intriguing through the pages, with the revelations of all the aspects tied up at the close. I was glad to see the details of the people taking care of our Wounded Warriors and the courageous animals who went through similar trauma and kept their innate loving nature. I will be reading more of the mysteries penned by David Archer..

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Look forward to reading more of the Sam Prichard series. Highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good PI series without the bad-assed attitude, liquor and sex. It was a pleasure to read and even after you think you have it all figured out, you get thrown for a loop. Just great.

Ridiculous

Author tried too hard to make his hero impressive. The result is opposite. The hero is just ridiculous, childish, speeding, confronting cops, ... The couple calls each other ‘babe’, pretentious and fake. It looks like author cut, paste and replace to meet publisher’s deadline. I, am, I’m appear more than once in the context of 3rd person tense.

Disappointing at best

I expected a good story when I read the blurb on this book, I was sorely disappointed. The story line had a lot of hope and potential but it reads like it was written on a second or third grade level. Dry and unimaginative. I only finished so I could leave a review.

Ghost

When I read this book, it was listed as Sam Prichard Part 2 book 1.it is actually Book 10 in the series. However it was an excellent book and now I am starting to read the box set, starting with Book 2. This looks like another incredible series, by an exceptional author.

Good review of past books. I liked the two characters, but the other people in the story needed more fleshing out. It was difficult to believe their actions. A little confusing, blending the two cases together. I liked the research on war dogs and returning veterans.

I found the stories far fetched, especially the mother.

Amazing work

I chose this rating as there is nothing higher available to praise the author, it is a very well written series, establishing a deep sense of mystery and intrigue. It is engaging and relentless as once you start reading you are engrossed and constantly encouraged to continue.
If I could describe this book in one sentence it would be: nothing is as it seems

This was a pleasant read that moved along without too many frivolous side stories. Anytime you can add a "hero dog" to the mix, I'm in. Not a nail biter, but enough of a who done it to keep me reading. Recommend it when you don't want to struggle through an ultra complicated plot or "Robots in Outer Space."

I enjoyed this book because it dealt with Childhood Trauma, Racism, PTSD and how anyone can lose control of their emotions and commit terrible crimes. Sam takes on 2 cases that are seemingly not connected after he encountered a man being killed right in front of him. The author really understands PTSD and Childhood Trauma and how it affects people.

Thanks for veterans and their service dogs...heroes all!!!

This book was a tear jerker! The antagonist was a surprise! I thought the detective was a total jerk, but our K-9 hero was a great asset to the story!!!

David Archer writes a good mystery, this one number 10 in his series. Sam and his wife, Indie, run a private eye business. Poison pen letters are turning up everywhere and Jack is accused of murder.

Good book. Dead guy and someone who resembles him. A wife curious because her husband is acting strangely. Good characters and plot. Good twist at the end.

I'd recommend this book and I may just read another David Archer.

Entertaining book!

I enjoyed reading this book about a husband and wife team trying to find a murderer. It was all very predictable but still good. I like it that there was no profanity.

Good mystery, needs an editor

I enjoyed this mystery and the characters were ones that I could see in my mind. I didn’t realize it was book 10 or I might have started at the beginning. The only thing I can suggest as a writer myself, invest in an editor. It is worth it.

Great story with likeable characters and perfectly written. I plan to continue reading the San Prichard mysteries because I find the stories to be believable and fun to read. The story could have been longer but I feel it was perfectly written.

Anyone who loves mysteries should read this book, it's fast paced and entertaining. Sam Pirichard at his best. Highly recommended

Awesome read.

This book was amazingly spell binding. With lots of twists and turns. I read 5 novels a month and it’s hard to keep my attention. I regret saying I don’t usually post reviews but I got very emotional over this one and it required it. Love the read. Thanks. Joe

Good read

I really enjoyed this book, so many heroes, and true family dynamics! Freddie saved the day and the ability to listen to the song at their celebration was an amazing treat.
