Bromantic

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.....BEWARE !!!!
Well....let me start by saying that this book started out great for me. It was funny and I was really enjoying it.
Terry, captain of the football team and Robbie, quidditch player (?) have been roommates and best friends for years. Terry is dating al sorts of women, while Robbie is not interested in anything to do with romance or sex.
One night when the power goes out, Terry comes up with the idea of having romantic dates with Robbie to, maybe, get him into the whole romance thing a bit more. Robbie thinks it's weird at first, but he agrees. They have been best friends for a long time, so why the hell not, it's only pretend anyways...
Their first "pretend" date was kinda fun and I had a few laughs, especially about the funny names they called each other, like "little fluffy marshmallow". The problem is that it went a bit too far. The whole Bromance/bromantic stuff, the pretending and even the petnames. It went downhill fast...
Robbie finds out all of a sudden that he's really gay. There was no natural progression to it. Just one day all of a sudden he figured he was gay. He accepts this fact about himself right away, without any worries, emotions or struggles. First I figured.."well..good for him". But you see, Robbie has never been in a sexual relationship before, he doesn't even jerk off, unless his need is very high. But all of a sudden, he's going on dates and jerking off to gay porn and thoughts of his best friend and it all felt a bit weird to me.... the progression I mean.
He tells Terry about his epiphany pretty fast. Terry is a pretty laid back guy, so no worries about his reaction. He's very accepting of Robbie. He does however continue with this whole Bromance bullshit. It was just painful to read. He wanted to keep up with the dates and the petnames and it was just ridiculous and cringeworthy....He didn't have any clue that this "pretend" bromance was getting a bit painfull for the guy who was actually gay in real life. Not to mention the big crush Robbie has on his straight friend.
At 65-70 % Robbie figures he's "gay for Robbie". No other guys just Robbie. Again, no internal struggles, no worries nothing. He just accepts this fact and changed his facebook profile into "in a realtionship with Robbie". After his clueing in, we get the world most akward handjob. I actually felt embarresed !! Nothing hot about it in my opinion.
In the last few chapters, we also get a quick break-up that lasts about 2 pages. They make up again really fast and we get one full sexscene...for those who want to know about the steamlevel. Again, it was over by the time I blinked.
This book really had potential, but in the end it didn't deliver....not for me at least. I want to appologize to my reading buddies, Susan, Elsbeth and Karlijn for finishing this one so fast, but I just didn't want to draw it out anymore. Simply said, this book was not for me.
However don't let my ranting stop you, because this might be a 5 star read for someone else. I've seen a lot of reviews of people who loved this one, so give it a try and make up your own mind ;)

Carrie's story hit frighteningly close to home for me.
I don't think I've ever related this much to a fictional character before. Everything that Carrie went through, from her thoughts and her feelings towards Rosa and the confusion of being sexually attracted to a woman for the first time are about 80% similar to what I went through. When she mentioned that she is attracted to men but Rosa seems to be an exception to that rule, I remember thinking and feeling the exact same way.
It was really interesting reading this story now years after having become way more confident, secure and understanding of my own sexuality to re-live that confusion and in trying to find the right label and trying to answer all these questions I had. This might be a very enlightening read for anyone who is going through coming to terms with their own sexuality (especially if they identify as bisexual because let's face it, we we're all straight until we weren't).
Needless to say though this story might as well be listed as fantasy because I don't know anyone who has had this happen to them, at least not with a happy ending. Still I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane and wonder if i'm still obliged after all these years to send my ex girlfriend a toaster oven :)

It was an AMAZING book! I loved Terry and Robbie and their lighthearted, affectionate banter right from the start. Yes, it seems unbelievable all the crazy bromance they started, but well, anything is possible in fiction! ;-)
And OMG, Bits!!!! ROFL. The smartest, most adorable dog ever! He is a super intelligent dog, and I fell in love with him along with the MCs.
There were only a handful of typos, which I'm sure will be removed in the final print. Loved the book, and I will definitely reread it in the future.

And yet…straight girls hug each other, hold hands and even kiss girls…and so despite the long odds and likely disappointment (at best) and heartbreak, we (well, I) crush on straight girls. I think it’s some sort of way of preparing to accept rejection. After all, when a straight girl says “not interested” it’s nothing personal, right? But hey, this is lesFICTION and the “straight girl turns bendy, especially and only for The One” is a fantasy theme I really like when it’s done well.
It was done especially well in Robin Alexander’s “Just Jorie”, and H.L. Logan did it well in “Fauxmance”. The MCs are delightful; I especially liked the use of the popular cheerleader vs. the cute geek stereotypes….if you’re writing fantasy….write fantasy!
“Fauxmance” is a fun romantic fantasy with very little angst, that addresses that “what if?” question. What if two best friends aren’t so straight after all, and what begins as a silly game turns into something much more? It’s not as over-the-top silly as Erik Schubach’s “The Dating Game”, and it plays toward realistic sweetness much more than comedy, but I really did enjoy it. There’s no audiobook available, but it’s a quick, fun and recommended read that’s available on Kindle Unlimited. 4* - recommended!

This is probably my favorite F/F duo by Logan to date, in terms of the dynamic of the relationship as well as individual character attributes. Between one of the MC's obsession with Harry Potter (💚💚) to their adorable one-line interactions with each other, it's safe to say I was rooting for Rosa & Carrie from beginning to end. I even let myself feel Rosa's pain & confusion as she tried to deal with her feelings towards Carrie (most of the time, I feel distanced from couple issues, perhaps because I don't need really feel connected to the couple themselves from the get-go). While I did have a couple minor gripes, mostly regarding Carrie's handle on her inner turmoil, they didn't hinder my overall amusement of the read.
In FAUXMANCE, we find college seniors Carrie & Rosa getting ready to move on with their lives. During their four years together as roommates, they've become best friends. Cheerleader Carrie is currently single in between her failed male relationships, whereas geek Rosa doesn't believe in the concept of love. To savor the time they have left together, Carrie decides to give Rosa "fauxmance" nights. Hey, they're single, they've both got time to kill, right? At first, both women go along with it because it's a fun idea- they love being in each other's company. However over time...yep. Heartstrings start to pull & suddenly it's not a game anymore to Rosa. She realizes she's in love with her best friend. But does Carrie feel the same way? And if so, how can they make it work?
By no means is falling in love with your best friend a new concept, but Logan brings something else to the table. The admiration that each woman has for the other, especially Rosa struggling to find a balance in what all of this means holds your attention from start to finish. Although I still haven't found a lesfic that doesn't have a cheesy HEA (boo, pessimism 👻), I am happy with the outcome. Definitely a Kindle Unlimited read worth checking it.

BR with Elsbeth, Karlijn and Wendy
This was a frustrating book. I started off great, I was sure it would all be wonderful. But it took a nosedive and left me frustrated and even a bit pissed off.
Terry and Robbie are best friend and college roommates. Terry is the captain of the football team and Robbie is a bit nerdy. But they fit each other like a glove.
It all starts out as a joke, a bromantic evening together, when their building has lost power one night in a storm. They liked it so much that Terry suggests they do a date night every week. But Robbie feels a bit uncomfortable with it, because he has noticed his feelings towards Terry are changing.
Even when Robbie finally admits to himself and to Terry that he is gay, Terry keeps up the bromantic stuff. So far that Robbie is feeling uncomfortable and Terry has no idea why (Hello, get a clue dude! Robbie has admitted that he discovered he is gay and there is a hot guy cuddling him in bed).
In the beginning the bro stuff was pretty funny, but eventually it just went on for too long. Terry was just plain stupid. Even when he finally admitted to himself he was attracted to Robbie, he still told himself he was straight, just attracted to Robbie. I could be okay with someone telling himself that, but this went on for the rest of the book. Dude! Ever hear of being bisexual?
I don’t need people to label themselves in my books, but the second half all revolved around Terry and his doubts about his own sexuality, so that frustrated me to no end. Just call yourself bisexual and be over with it. You’re attracted to a guy, you’re not straight. All he kept saying was that he was not attracted to guys, just Robbie. I don't buy that.
And of course there was the cliche at 77%. Ugh, pleaaaaase.
And don’t get me started on the thing with that Norwood guy. The drama came out of nowhere and it was all solved way too quickly.
I did like the first 40%, so I’m rounding it up to 3 stars, but it’s more 2.5.

Sorry but all the "bromantic", "Bromo", "brocation" words make me cringe ~
I feel a bit mad with this story! Until a secondary character , Norwood, comes and said just what I was thinking about these two "bros" who start going to a "romantic dates" together to have fun but being straight :
"I went through too damn much coming out to put up with some clueless straight bros who think being gay is a joke."
Also say this is a very GFY so if you don´t like this term go away!
"They especially didn´t understand when he said he wasn´t actually gay, just in love with me." OKKKK He´s not gay, he´s bisexual! Come on is easy! Why don´t use the word "bisexual" for defining Terrys preferences? idk

Heh, I like this book. A sweet adorable two best friends doing a fake date and ended up being their weekly date-night.
Why did I said what already in synopsis? I have no idea. 😧
Both main characters are likable. I like them. They are sweet. Somehow I can feel their doubts, the confusion, their reluctance... when they start to realise about their own feeling toward another person that is close to them.
Who didnt have a crush on a straight girl? Probably not all, but it definitely happened to me. Sigh.. such an... interesting(?) thing happened to me i guess.
Though I’m still not confidence about who I am yet, this book does make me to start to think about lots things again. Or maybe not..
Well all in all i like this book and enjoyed it alot.

An easy and generally fun read, especially if you have a lazy afternoon to indulge in. Storyline is straightforward with the usual hiccup in the romance solved quickly. Supporting characters aren't really fleshed out but they do the job of moving the plot along.

Ahhh...how Bromantic! This was such a fun, entertaining read that I was sad to finish it. Terry and Robbie were so cute together though they did seem to go from straight to gay without too much stress or worry (at least on Terry's part). Other than that (an Thanksgiving being on the wrong day), I thoroughly enjoyed Bromantic and know that I will be reading Harper Logan again.

AKA Bromantic - Harper Logan.
Story, characters and writing aside, reworking two books from one doesn't sit right with me. I understand the economics but is it enough to change names and genders to create a new book. Lesbians (or straight women in love with each other) aren't gay men. Since m/m fiction doesn't interest me, I haven't read both books. It comes down to whether changing a book's title or an author's name constitutes writing a book or not. I guess it's just a matter of opinion or preference. Best of luck to either Harper or H. L. Logan.

3.5...I'm not usually so precise but it was better than a 3 but didn't quite reach a 4. I think this was mainly because it felt a little rushed rather than savoured and developed in a way that would have taken a solid plot and marinated it in emotion to creats something really special.
Its a cute read overall and I've enjoyed reading others by this author.

Terry and Robbie are roommates and best friends. Terry is your typical jock and funny guy, not a player but not a monk neither. He is funny and caring. One rainy evening he propose a Bromantic evening to Robbie …
Robbie is a geek who wears Harry Potter shirts and he seems to know the answers for all Terry's question. When Terry propose him to have a romantic evening, for fun of course, he really can't say no to him. What starts out a one-night romantic joke fades in a weekly event.
Terry addresses Robbie with all sort of endearments and after the brief kiss they share in front of their friends he realize that maybe, just maybe this is more than just bromance …
I really enjoyed it! It's light it's funny just what i needed! It's an honest 5 star!

Really silly but also super sweet

This book really shouldn't work as well as it does because the idea of two straight guys having a 'bromance' which turns into a real romance is something you generally only do see within the pages of a novel.
Also they're still at college so the idea of a life long true love always seems to be so much optimism rather than grounded in reality.
However, having said all of the above, this is a truly sweet romance between two guys who do know each other intimately enough for the reader to believe they do find their one true loves once they open themselves up to the idea of falling for their best mate.
Oh and I'm generally a cat person but I have to say that Bits, the super secret spy Husky, was a delight.

Terry and Robbie... I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other! It was a super sweet story with well developed MC's. Very sexy, romantic, steamy, and just the right amount of cheesy to make you laugh. Lots of interesting twists and turns and their newly adopted dog 'Bits' is adorable! This is a slightly different take on 'friends-to-lovers' and it was a pleasure to read. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more from this author. I received an ARC for my honest opinion and review.

OMG I hated this. But it feels rude to give it a 1 🌟 The audiobook narration was also terrible. The only reason I didn't DNF this is because I didn't want another DNF this year. But you know what? This book motivated me enough to create a did-not-finish shelf, so I don't feel bad about dnf-ing anything else from now on. Life is too short.

I adored Terry and Robbie! This was such a cute story with some sweet cheesiness that I couldn’t get enough of, and just enough heat! Bonus points for a cute pup too! 💕

Very meh. Not all bad, some of their interplay is fun and Robbie was kinda cute. Plus, there are no significant editing problems unlike some books on amazon unlimited.
However, I really didn't see Terry's appeal and he didn't seem internally consistent. For example he acted completely like a dumb jock, albeit a sweet lovable one, yet he is getting mostly A's at an Ivy League despite socializing constantly and being busy with football so not having much time to study or do homework? Nope, people that can balance school and extracurriculars that well are super smart, not idiots who believe everything their friends say.
Also All the "bro" stuff was kinda annoying. I know there are guys that talk like that but there is a reason I'm not friends with any of them. It's super obnoxious. Finally their pretend dating started out as a bit funny and a bit accidentally offensive in the way some cis, heterosexuals can be. But then it went on and on to the point of being legit not ok both because Robby was being made super uncomfortable but also because being non-hetero isn't some joke you get to pull out on Saturday nights then put away again when it's no longer fun. It pissed me off that no one pointed this out except the social justice warrior Norwood who then goes so over the top with his response that he seems like he's the one with the problem instead of Terry. And ya, Terry apologizes but it seems more like he's saying "Oh I didn't actually do anything wrong since I'm not actually totally straight even though I only figured that out 3 days ago" rather than any kind of actual understanding or acknowledgement that making jokes about someone else can be hurtful or upsetting to people who have no choice about who they are.
The Norwood drama is especially frustrating because there is even a character in the story who could have gently given that feedback in a way that might educate some readers. Deedee, who is their friend and woman rights advocate working with the LGBT community to prevent campus bullying. She is aware of a lot of their relationship story but instead of helping educate Terry she encourages them and then makes a comment suggesting Robby, her gay friend who just started coming out of the closet would understand about the need to prevent bullying and create a safe space. Why doesn't he understand? Because he dared to suggest it might be necessary to create clear guidelines to make sure people don't accidentally break the rules. Because I white, middle class, cis, heterosexual women is such a huge magnet for bullying.*
*over sensitive and hypocritical social justice warriors may be a major pet peeve of mine so some of this stuff might not have been as annoying for some other readers.

But then it went on and on to the point of being legit not ok both because Robby was being made super uncomfortable but also because being non-hetero isn't some joke you get to pull out on Saturday nights then put away again when it's no longer fun. It pissed me off that no one pointed this out except the social justice warrior Norwood who then goes so over the top with his response that he seems like he's the one with the problem instead of Terry. And ya, Terry apologizes but it seems more like he's saying "Oh I didn't actually do anything wrong since I'm not actually totally straight even though I only figured that out 3 days ago" rather than any kind of actual understanding or acknowledgement that making jokes about someone else can be hurtful or upsetting to people who have no choice about who they are.
The Norwood drama is especially frustrating because there is even a character in the story who could have gently given that feedback in a way that might educate some readers. Deedee, who is their friend and woman rights advocate working with the LGBT community to prevent campus bullying. She is aware of a lot of their relationship story but instead of helping educate Terry she encourages them and then makes a comment suggesting Robby, her gay friend who just started coming out of the closet would understand about the need to prevent bullying and create a safe space. Why doesn't he understand? Because he dared to suggest it might be necessary to create clear guidelines to make sure people don't accidentally break the rules. Because I white, middle class, cis, heterosexual women is such a huge magnet for bullying.*
*over sensitive and hypocritical social justice warriors may be a major pet peeve of mine so some of this stuff might not have been as annoying for some other readers.

This was a quick, enjoyable read. However, I began to get a little fed up with the lack of communication. Terry thinking his actions portrayed what he was feeling towards Robbie but obviously they didn't. I had the feeling that Robbie was sometimes a little thick.

A little less filler would have been nice, because the love scenes were pretty solid when they finally rolled around.
