It's been said you never really know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. I've been through a lot this past year, from the social media petty parties to admitting my mom into a psyche ward. In My Own Words I offer my truths without filters, ad-libs or edits. I share my struggle with what seemed an unforgiving storm of tests of my faith. I had an up close and personal pass to the private suffering from the public humiliation of the man I loved. With the full dissolution of my marriage ranging from a bi-coastal separation, to an amicable divorce. It seemed all too unreal to hear the words “something terrible has happened to your brothers”. Losing them both at once, at a time when we were just starting to become closer seemed so unfair; it all seemed so unfair! Then I would put my grief on hold to plan their funeral. How was I to remain strong and keep pushing? I had to, there was no other option; my daughter was watching. She's my motivation, she's what's keeps me going. So with God, prayer, and faith; I just kept moving.
First off I love Toya! But I could've passed on this book. It was simple I finished it in one day because it was so short and the information in it was nothing new or exciting. Like I said as a person she is dope but this book was just like ok.
The book was a good read. Mickey was just bad for you. He beat and abused K Michelle, I'm related to her. Nobody, believed her, but she suit him and won. On Iyanla show he blamed you. How? Because, he was a fraud. We believe in people, because we love them, but it doesn't mean they're right for us. Refined and Reign are beauties. Thanks, for being transparent and keeping it real. I'm awaiting your next release.
Definitely, a great read. I will share it for others to purchase and share to others. Enjoy, you will love it!
My real reality is very emotionally raw and understanding I love how Toya wrote from her heart and shared her experiences this is definitely a game changer some ladies can learn from this book and know we all have struggles but it’s how you choose to correct your faults learn to forgive and move on with your life to be a better version of yourself I’ll definitely recommend this book to others to read you won’t be disappointed
This was a very good book. I learned a lot and was very inspired by some of the things that were in this book. Keep your head up Toya. You doing good from what I read you been through. Very good read for anyone looking for a story that you can really relate to.
This book is a real game changer. Toya is honest and intellectual and inspiring. Toya is truly a phenomenal woman a great example of how to be a great woman, wife, and mother. A real role model for all women of all ages. Great book read it in two days
This book was well worth purchasing and reading. I read it n 3 hours I lived it from beginning to end. I cried laughed related so much with Toya. She inspired me and helped put the fire back under me to continue to believe in myself. Thank you Toya!!!!
I learned from this book that it's okay not to be perfect, but to fully learn from my mistakes. And to know that everything isn't for everybody and vice versa. Thank you for this book Toya, from a young girl trying to figure the growing up thing all out.
It was it nice experience to hear Toya's life from her. She has dealt with some adversity, but she continues to motivate herself to do better. The book needed to be edited better, but you could still understand the story.
It was an easy and interesting read and really short so it kind of jumped around quick . Overall I enjoyed the story and some of the inspirational vibes I got from it !
I love that you are willing to tell your story. Some people have issues being true to there life before and during fame.. Thank you for letting the world know that you're a real person with real life shut going on.
The book was very short.. but overall it was a good read. Great job Toya! It’s crazy that I’m reading this so late and I follow you on social media! Congrats on your new man and new kid 😍❤️
In this quick read, @toyajohnson gives her readers a glimpse into her life…in her own words. She addresses the death of her brothers; her mother's battle with drugs; life before, during and after Lil Wayne; being a mom, and the behind the scenes truth of her second marriage…on and off the television screen.
I can't believe it took me this long to read this book, and I'm looking forward to reading her other books.
This book was very motivational. The first book I owned as a teenager was “Priceless Inspirations”. From her first book to this one, you can really see growth in her as a person and an author. Not only did she help me get through some of the toughest times in my adolescence years, moving back and forth from family member to family member, but she also provided motivation and inspiration to keep going and never give despite any obstacle, hater, or “friend. Definitely worth reading, if you’re a person that’s been through something and is trying to persevere and succeed. 💕
This book in the beginning was too much about what she wanted to repair that was in the media about her (image) and second marriage. I got it in the first two pages about how good of a person she is. She repeated it so many times about how much of a a good friend she is. (I have no doubt she is.) I felt bad that her family thought she was to take care of them forever and she lost her family to tragedy that is sad. I gave a three because most of her story was already played out in the media.
I gave this book five stars because Toya put her highs and lows out there and it takes a real woman to do such. She isn't afraid to fail and finds lessons in the good and bad times. Toya is an excellent mother and I'm sure a great friend and she gives me hope that it's never to late to know better, then do better. Great Read!!!!!!
