Steele Ridge: The Beginning, is book one, the prequel to the series Steele Ridge. This short book is a very intriguing look into this brand new series by Kelsey Browning, Tracey Devlyn and Adrienne Giordano.
The Steele family, four sexy brothers, Jonah, Reid, Britt and Grif, have come home to Canyon Ridge, North Carolina for their mother’s birthday. Little did they know that this trip would change their lives. They didn’t realize how bad of shape the town they grew up in was. Canyon Ridge is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. People are moving away. An idea of Jonah’s will change everything.
We also meet their two sisters, the youngest of the clan, Evie, and Jonah’s twin, Micki. There is an obvious story there as well, hinted at with Micki. I can already tell Evie will be the troublemaker of the bunch.
Book two will be about Grif, who is a sports agent on the west coast. He, along with his brothers, wants to save the town but what he doesn’t count on is Carlie Beth. They have a history and Carlie has secrets. I can’t wait to see what happens!
It was a quick little story, but it felt “off”. 4 brothers seeing a fire, playing firemen, and thereafter playing detectives at their mothers 60th birthday, then solving the case, while meeting their future women, and then deciding to fix the city because it might get bankrupt in a couple of years. A lot right?
Too many different POV’s for my liking. It was hard to keep track on who was who, and who was talking.
I was excited to read this quick story that is the introduction to the Steele Brothers books coming soon from Kelsey Browning, Adrienne Giordano, and Tracey Devlin. Grif is featured in the first book, Going Hard: he's a spiffy dressed sports agent in L.A., but he's been burned and he's jaded. Reid is featured n the second book, Living Fast: he's an ex Green Beret with a knee injury and his future is unsettled. Britt is featured in the third book, Loving Deep: he's a biologist studying endangered red wolves and he's restless, but he doesn't know why. And then there's Jonah. He's the youngest Steele brother and he's a self made billionaire who's bailing out the town but he's bored with his life. When these four brothers get together all hell is about to break loose in Steele Ridge and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble these hot and sexy bachelors get into. This series promises to be a hum dinger! I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
A quick fun and free introduction to the Steele Brothers, the women that will have them questioning want they really want and the upcoming series. Each of the brothers has made it in their own way but unless they want to see their hometown fade away they each need to step up and help the failing town. None are particularly happy about it but they are all in! Can't wait to start reading each of their stories. While I don't think it's necessary to read this before the reading the series, I do think you'll enjoy it.
This prequel is a great introduction to the Steele brothers and the residents of Steele Ridge. The four Steele brothers have a competitive, playful, and entertaining relationship and I look forward to reading each of their stories.
Nicely set foundation for the series that will follow. My appetite has been whet for what the future holds for the not only the Steele brothers, but the whole family, and the town. Only good things will come from the collaboration of the writing from these authors...who are the best st what they do...creating an escape into a world of characters that are not easily forgotten.

•••••
REVIEW: STEELE RIDGE: The Beginning is a short story that introduces the Steele brothers -Grif, Reid, Britt and Jonah- along with their sisters Evie and Mickie, and their return to Canyon Ridge, North Carolina. Like many introductory novellas (and short stories) we get a quick glimpse into the Steele brother’s dynamics and the women they left behind.
Canyon Ridge, North Carolina is a dying town; near bankrupt and on the verge of financial ruin when someone sets fire to the albatross of a community center. Enter the four Steele brothers who have returned to their home town to celebrate their mother’s sixtieth birthday. What ensues is the search for the person responsible for the fire, and each of the brother’s reflection on what was and what they left behind.
STEELE RIDGE is a very quick read that reveals some of the personal background information as it pertains to each of the brothers; their father’s lack of presence in their mother’s life; and a sister who may or may not be the black sheep of the family.
NOTE: Reading STEELE RIDGE The Beginning is not necessary to understand the premise of the series.
A preview of a series of brothers and the town they live in. It alludes to family, an insecure sister, brothers with varying issues and a dominant town that needs direction. Language a bit crass or blunt. This intro starts the story but goes nowhere. I want to read these books because I have read and liked each of the involved authors but this was nothing more than an intro of the characters.
This short prequel written by three authors introduces us to four brothers, their family and the town they are returning to. Each brother is different, special and will have something to contribute to making the area of their hometown better. My guess is that each one will also find a love of his own.
Fantastic introduction to the Steele brothers. Their characters are hot and all have a funny side to them. They care deeply about family. They get a wake call when they get to their hometown. I'm really looking forward to reading this series. I highly recommend reading this book.
I love the Steele brothers which you get to meet in this prequel. They each have their own issues to deal with but they are still there for their family and the small town they love. They are cute and funny too. A fast paced fun loving read.
This is a good beginning. A short prequel to the series. We are introduced to the main characters the Steel brothers,Grief, Reid, Britt, and Jonah there is also sisters Mickie and Evie.. Each has their own baggage and troubles, causing them to feel alone and adrift, yet each loves the small town of Canyon Ridge. First they put out a fire on the way to their mothers birthday party. As they hear about the drain the new center has placed on the town and what will happen if it fails, the brothers start to form a plan separately and as a team to save their town. Perhaps in finding ways to help the town they will find what they each need to heal themselves as well. This was a joint effort by 3 authors and very well done. Though this is a short read it leads you very well into the series and makes you want to learn more. Look forward to the next installment.
Steele Ridge: The Beginning is exactly what the title implies it is an introduction. We are given a glimpse of the Steele brothers and their two sisters Mickie and Evie. While we and introduce to the Steele family Ms Browning did a wonderful job in keeping us questioning what exactly led each member of the family down the path they are on and where they go from here. Whether it's why Mickie is hiding from her brothers even her twin, what Jonhan have in mind to save the community, or if Reid going to find a new path after his military career ended.
I recommend this book for anyone who looking to read a series about a family with secrets who just trying to save their town and find happiness.
Can't wait to read the other books in this series and learn more about the Steele family and their town.
Steele Ridge is a prequel novel for the entire Steel Ridge series.
The story is very fast flowing and at times I became a little confused. You get to quickly meet a few of the women who are going to form romantic relationships with the brothers.
The Steele brothers also have two sisters and one is a twin and I am very intrigued with their secrets. It must have been interesting growing up with four overbearing brothers. Their mother made an immediate impact on me with her love of her sons.
Griff is the first brother to have a story and I am looking forward to reading his romantic reunion story.
One of the brothers I really loved was Jonah and how he wanted to save the town. It is going to be interesting to following the whole story of Steele Ridge.
This prequel just gives you enough to want to buy the next book in the Steele Ridge series being Going Hard.
I enjoyed this prequel to the Steele Ridge series. We meet the Steele family of 4 brothers, 2 sisters, their mother, and other characters that will be important in the series. When everyone gets together for mom’s birthday bash, the boys/men realize the town is near bankruptcy so they want to save it. We see the brothers’ personalities and how successful they have become but each is still lacking something in his life.
Following the character information was confusing at times. I had a little trouble sorting out which man was the oldest/youngest and which back-story was for which one. But they were all interesting enough that I want to know more about them. I was sure glad I had the next book in the series.
This is a very quick read, an introduction to the world in the hopes the reader will continue the series. This reader probably won't. In the intent of making each character distinctive, they feel like stereotypes. The military man, the businessman, the geek gone billionaire, the hard working female law enforcement, and more.
An example of the style:
"Britt’s large, work-worn palm engulfed her small hand. In moments like this, Britt wished he had the uncalloused touch of his gamer brother rather than his rough, impossible-to-get-the-dirt-from-beneath-his-fingernails construction grip. But Randi didn’t flinch away. She gave him two firm shakes before withdrawing."
I hate to even count this as a book, it's not. It's a novella. A short one at that. But, I want to have it on my list as "read." So, here goes. This is a very simple introduction to the Steele Ridge series featuring four brothers who left their small NC town to make a name for themselves. Well, three of them left, the oldest stayed home out of obligation but has found success in his own right. Now, they're all back home, completely changed, yet still the same. Can they save their small town? They sure as heck are going to try.
OK so its a taster, four successful brothers go home for their mother's birthday bash. On their way though they notice a building on fire and put it out then go about to capture the arsonist. This teaser establishes the characters and the only one that had any true substance was their sister. Why not give the first book free as this sample was so miniscule it didn't make me want to buy to read more. Think you are missing out on potential sales here!
The Steele brothers are home for their Mom’s birthday. Jonah makes video games. Grif is a sports agent. Reid was a Green Beret. Britt is studying to be a wildlife management. They come upon a fire at the sports arena and stop to put it out. Everyone is at the party and they decide to snoop around and find out who set the fire. This is a short introduction to Steele Ridge series.
This is an introduction to a new series about the Steele brothers. The authors give you a taste of each one and even introduces you to their love interests. I can already tell that the mother of these men had her hands full but she loves her sons and they love, respect and even fear her. A good introduction that makes you want to learn more about their family dynamic. How do the sisters fit into this? I have already downloaded Griff's story.
Steele Ridge: The Beginning: The Steeles Prequel Author Kelsey Browning has brought up a prequel to tell us more about the Steele family and introduce us to them each as well make us really want to know more. I have not read any of the Steele Ridge books as of yet but this Prequel really makes me want to know all about this family of hard as "steel" brothers. I can't wait to get my hands on each of them KLH
You really need to read this short story before you dive into the series. It's Free, so way wait. Take the plunge.
The birthday party is the perfect setting to bring all the upcoming characters into one place for a short amount of time. The fire has the (alpha) men saving the day and the building while showing off each of the four brothers strengths.
Yes the story has been described as a Character information dump, but it is exactly what you need to know and who fits into Steele Ridge.
I was intrigued from the start with this series. The authors did a great job of sparking the tiniest bit of curiosity with the main characters. I liked the diversity of them as well as their various secrets. This is a quick but oh so sweet peek into this family and town. On to the next one
This could have been accomplished as a prologue in the first book.
It doesnt tell us much about the town or Steele brothers, except the town is in bad shape and the brothers are vastly different and like to give each other crap.
If I read this before "book 2" I probably would have stopped.
I actually came back to see what I missed after reading "book 2"
I probably should have read other Steele books first, I was a little lost with the many characters introduced in such a short span. The egos seemed over the top also. I’m thinking if I got to know the chars first, this prequel would have been a fun glimpse into their family dynamic.
Loved the short prequel to all these brothers and their sisters. Cannot wait to get into how they all help each other get what they want. Three great authors who all know how to tell stories, keeping you interested from start to finish.
