Mason has always been good at surviving—adaptable, opportunistic, and, when necessary, ruthless. He’s thrived when so many have fallen, but no one stays on top forever.
After a string of failures, Mason finds himself in a small Texas town under someone else’s command. Fine. He’s had to fight his way up the ladder before, and he can do it again.
But even Mason can’t foresee the trouble that befalls him when he crosses paths with a sharpshooting teenage girl. For a guy who has never given a damn about anyone but himself, it’s a whole new world—one that even someone as bad as Mason might not survive.
Is there such a thing as redemption in a post-Purge world?
You really need to read The Purge of Babylon series before you read this one. That way you'll know exactly who Mason is!!!! You'll be surprised!!! Great after book story!!!!!
I have read all of the Babylon books to date....cannot wait for Rooster to come out next month. I am definitely Team Mason - I would love to see him show up again in future stories. He's supposed to be a "bad guy" but he's the cutest and most likeable bad guy out there. Loved this book. Really enjoyed the Freckles character. The only thing I found annoying was Mason's constant internal dialogue. Drove me crazy and was so distracting and boring at first, but then I think I just got used to it a quarter of the way through. Didn't bother me so much anymore and didn't detract from the story. Great little read!!
What a great addition to the series. There are SPOILERS BELOW so only keep reading if you want. I'm positive Mason is Jonah from the Road to Babylon series. I just wonder now if I'll meet Rose again. I love how this author ties all these together. His characters and creatures are very enjoyable. Yes, I've found some editing things off and on, but to be honest the story has me sucked in so deep I really read over them without much fuss. I don't feel a lesser star rating is appropriate.
Another excellent short story about the people of The Purge!!!
This one it's about Mason and a new character. Mason is usually the bad guy but now he might be the good guy. Mason is definitely a complicated character. This is one off my favorite series of books!!! Please keep them coming.
Well, I can't believe I actually started to care a bit about the character i most loved to hate!! Damn, damn, double damn. But as with all Mr. Sisavath's writing, it just sucks you in and makes you care. I would love to see Mason turn up down the line, especially after developing just a teeny wee bit of caring for the A-hole!!!!
A great companion book to the series. Nice perspective from Mason's head. I would have liked a little less of his internal dialogue but still a good read. Looking forward to the two new Purge books coming this year.
Good to know more about the traitorous Mason. The little man is a survivor that’s for sure. I’d like too see where he came from before the purge. Not much about that here and I was hoping to connect the dots a little more.
Answers a couple of questions so there’s that, didn’t care for the extra voice, super annoying. I would trade every character in this series to have Will back.
Book was a little slow compared to the other Babylon books. Story line was good but after the excitement of the original series it left me wanting more.
I liked getting back into the thick of things but found Mason's subconscious voices super annoying. I ended up skimming over that dialogue. I realize characters need to have a bit of it but it was too much shtick. Anyhow other than that your books rock my world. Thank you Jennifer
I'm glad this book was written because I was curious about what happened to Mason. He's one of those characters you have a love/hate relationship with. He grows on one. I hope he's going to be in future stories.
Totally enjoyed this latest edition in the series. Mason has always been an intriguing member of the cast and while this book only gives a limited insight into what makes up Mason, it's a rather unusual look at an otherwise despicable character.
I would be interested in hearing more about him. Wouldn't it be interesting if he played an important part in the rebuilding aspect of the "after" Will did his thing?
Every time a new piece of the story arrives, I call me friends and we devour it. Can't say that often happens that you just never want this series to end.
