It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
Craig and some other SEALs are in Nevada for training and you can’t be in that state and not visit Vegas for a weekend! That’s where he meets Mary Elizabeth. She’s out with her girls – who’re trying to talk her into a one night stand. But Mary Elizabeth is not interested. She’s still not over her ex. So to get back to their hotel without their friends thinking they’re weird, they make a deal when they meet at the bar. Pretend to leave together so that everybody thinks they’ll both be getting some action tonight. Only there’s no action – just a very hot kiss. And then there’s work next Monday. Where art-history Professor Mary Elizabeth is talking about art-theft in Syria and Iraq….in front of a bunch of SEALs!
Off to the middle east we go as professor and undercover assistant to find out what the bad guys are doing with all the ancient art!
What will happen to Craig and his slightly older Professor-Lady? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a great romantic suspense with lots of fun and suspense and action and sexiness and actual facts!
There was a tiny little bit too much of those actual facts in there for my tastes – lots of antique art facts and military and middle eastern war stuff … but pff it all needed to be explained, so that we know what they’re talking about.
I loved Craig so much – he’s the youngest of his group of SEALs – they call him KID – so cute! And he just knows that he found his forever-ever-after-girl with Mary…but of course it takes them a while to get there… ☺
Another amazing SEAL romance by Cat Johnson!!
Gimme the next one asap!!! (P.S. it'll be called Escape with a Hot SEAL and will be out in July ☺)
Meeting in a bar in Vegas on a dare, Craig never thinks he will see Mary Elizabeth again even though he would love to. Until she shows up to lecture at a meeting for the Teams. Now he has to protect her, as she’s uses her knowledge to study ancient Middle Eastern artifacts in Erbil Iraq. Craig’s SEAL team is there to keep an eye on other coalition workers, possible Russian spies. The danger is real, but the data and info collected, could save lives. Can this time in Iraq bring Mary back into the land of the living after the breakup of an eight yr relationship? What about the eight yr age difference that doesn’t bother Craig at all? I enjoyed this story, being a history fan, I wish it would have had a bit more “digging” so to speak. There was just enough steam to keep it exciting! I can’t wait to get to the next story in this series!
What happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas afterall!
I love Cat Johnson's SEAL series, each and every one is just a little adventure.
Craig and Mary Elizabeth's story is like a male and a female fantasy coming try. Hers about a man in uniform sweeping her off her feet. His the hot for teacher thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6M4_Ommfvv0
I think Craig quite quickly became one of my favourite Cat Johnson SEAL. There was just something about him that got to me.
What I did feel though was that things felt a little unfinished. Not so much with Craig and Mary, but with things that happened. Especially with the stuff in the Middle East - it is hard to say what I am talking about without putting spoilerish things in here. Things kinds of happened and then... nothing. But this could just be me.
But one thing is for sure - when I am in Vegas later in the year I am going to go see Thunder From Down Under and try to score myself a SEAL!
We've met this hero in past books as he's new within the team because of a few of the older SEALs retiring.
Anyhow, we get to know about our hero's dislike of being the new and young kid on the block. After a training session, he goes out on the town with a few of the other that are single. While there, they decide on a bar because of a male strip show getting out and the single women who go to them. Anyhow, they decide on a bet for our hero to get our heroine's phone number.
Our heroine broke up with her boyfriend a few months back but are still feeling the stinging from it. Her girlfriend's force her to come out even though she just wants to curl up on the couch. When the girls decide to go to a bar after the show, she decides one drink, then she'll head home. What she doesn't plan on is our hero coming up and telling her about his friends and the bet. They come up with a plan, which was going good until the catcalling when they end up kissing.
What they didn't plan was to them end up in a mission together. Our hero plans on keeping our heroine safe no matter what because he feels something for her he's never felt before. She's finally realizing she needs to move on. The question is can they do these together or will it be separately?
I liked the plot of this story and it had me laughing at times. The hero and heroine sound like normal people to me and I could relate to them because I know in some areas I would do the same. The mission part I thought would go one way and it went another which shocked me. Great job to the author on this one.
A great older woman younger man story by Cat Johnson
They met in Vegas in a bar but what happens in Vegas doesn't stay there sometimes. Never thinking they would see each other again, Craig is surprised when she walks into the conference room at the base in Nevada where they are training. Then they find out she is going overseas with them as an expert on artifacts as their cover for being there. She is still heartbroken a year after her fiance walked away from her with no warning. Craig is just instantly attracted to her but for more than just sex. She keeps pushing him away until she can't anymore. What happens when he gets sent out on a mission while they are overseas and she is suddenly sent back home without warning or explanation? Can Craig convince her to give them a try even with their age difference?
Mary can't seem to get past the fact her boyfriend of 8 years left her. Her friends finally convince her to go out. Craig is out with some buddies at the bar. Mary gets up to leave but her friends want a drink so she is going to order and have them sent over and she is leaving. Craig gets dared to go talk to Mary. He explains to her and they decide to make it look good. They kiss then go separate ways. Mary is asked to go speak about artifacts. She is very surprised to see Craig again. Before she knows it, she is headed overseas with them. Things heat up with her and Craig and then she is sent home. When Craig gets back from his mission, she is gone. When he calls her, she tells him they don't have a future. Can he convince her to give them a try?
Mary and Dawson met on a bet in a bar in Vegas spurred by their friends, a single HOT kiss, eight years his senior and broken fear of the unknown, enchanted by what he sees in her, the passion for her work with ancient artifacts takes them to war torn middle east when she let's her guard down some, giving them a chance, love blossoms, age doesn't matter, another great Seal story from Cat, thank you, Dana Zamora
Tame and chaste erotica thoroughly laced with American jingoism. The actual sex scene happens once and it lasts no more than 400-500 words. This is the kind of sex that you can imagine for people whom you would rather not have sex, ie. your grandparents, your children, your current partner before you met. There is no risk that you will be shocked or titillate.
Cat is by far one of my favorite alpha, romantic, HEA, spec ops' author. I can't wait for more adventures from GAPS and their Seal companions. I only wish you could write as fast as I read. Looking forward to the next book.
Another great book,I am really enjoying the series about the seals.Cat Johnson is an excellent writer and I am in anticipation of reading her next book which I will have in time for my hold .
Craig meets Mary on a dare and a bet. Never expecting he would soon be working closely with her on a mission. Cat Johnson takes us on a journey involving mystery, danger, art history and romance. An entertaining story.
I loved this book just as much as I do all of Cat Johnson's SEALs books, but for some reason this one felt like something was missing, and I don't mean the fact that we never did get to find out how old either of them actually were. I felt no kind of real closure on her trip to the middle East, or on their story period. I am of course looking forward to the next book in the set and hopefully we can find out a bit more of what happened with these two.
A good story, not my favourite of the series. As I just didn't really connect with the female lead character and found myself skimming small sections of the book. I did like the male lead character though, and the little bit of action in the story was enjoyable to read. It was just the romance element that didn't really grab me, however I do think fans of the series would enjoy this book. So I would certainly recommend it to them.
A hot seal romance by Cat Johnson is a sure thing. Craig and Mary are a unique couple and they are very likeable. Mary is a college professor and is an expert on antiquities. Craig is a Navy Seal who meets Mary while he is on leave in Las Vegas. When Mary is approached to go to Syria and certify the authenticity and age of some artifacts Craig and his unit ate there to protect her.
There are many reasons why Mary doesn't want to get involved with any man but she cannot remember them when he is around. The chemistry between these two is amazing and this is a sweet love story.
Good story. Craig may have been younger than Mary, but he appeared to be very mature for his age. I didn't like the ending. How are they gonna handle living on different coasts? The same could be said about Brody and his girl in Alabama. I love this group of guys and would enjoy a follow-up to see how they are managing their personal relationships. I really enjoyed Jon and Ally's additional story.
Navy SEAL Craig Dawson is in Vegas on break...The rest of his team gets him on a bet that he can't get a ladies phone number...Professor Mary Elizabeth Smith is in the bar after her friends drag her out...They use each other to get out of the bar and pretend that they are leaving together....But some bets follow you home. This was okay!!! Not much suspended or action...
Craig meets Mary because of a dare from his SEAL teammates. She wants to leave the bar and figures he can be her out. So they leave together but part company in the parking lot. Then she gets called in to help out a government team with ancient artifacts. Little does she know that Craig's team is who she is helping. She ends up helping out the team but is reluctant to start anything with Craig. Sometimes you just need to take a chance. Pretty good story.
I enjoyed this read, as I have all the other Hot SEALs stories. This story was interesting in that they used a really clueless civilian as a cover under the guise of restoring and protecting Middle Eastern artifacts. What I didn't particularly care for was how the story line seemed to abruptly end. This is why I look at this story as a HFN-Happy For Now, because it seems unfinished.
Another great book in the Hot Seals series. In this book we get to see Craig Dawson's story. He meets Professor Smith on a weekend trip to Vegas. Little do they both know that they will be thrown together on a special antiquities mission.
