One moment in time was all it took… She shouldn’t be here… She can’t even recall how she got here.
Except for the dream. Mya Boyle remembers the dream. She knows it’s somehow connected to her past, her present and the future.
Mya woke one morning in a field, a stag grazing close by as if it didn’t even notice her. She lay bare, like a babe from the womb, except for a wool blanket wrapped around her tightly.
A grown woman with no memory, no family, no money, nothing. Kayden McGregor found her while hunting. He was after the stag and nearly shot her with his arrow instead. Unable to leave her to the wolves of his clan, he took her to his home.
He resents her. She can’t bare to look at him. Or stop herself from staring when he doesn’t notice. Trapped, and yet somehow destined to be together.
Remember enough of the past… You may be able to control your future.
Moment in Time Series: #1 - Highlander's Bride #2 - Victorian Bride #3 - Modern Bride #4 - Royal Bride #5 - Forever the Bride
NOTE: This is a series. In order to understand the time travel aspect, you will need to read the series to find out what is going on and put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Terrible. And the narrator was a disaster. I've never heard a more ridiculous fake Scottish accent in my life. I don't care that this ended in a cliffhanger. I have no interest in reading more.
This was not my cup of tea! I do not enjoy cliffhangers at all, and the writing is way too modern. When the hero said he was in his birthday suit, that just about did it for me. He was NOT the time traveler! The plot is practically nonexistent because this one is really just one sexual encounter after the other. I hate writing a bad review, but I just could not rate this any higher. Maybe it will work better for others. Happy reading!
For being the first book, there was no explanation or backstory to wtf is going on and why Mya woke up naked and not remembering anything. The story consisted of just a bunch of sex, not even interesting sex, a few scenes with an angry/lustful man, and random scenes with a stag. Also if you are going to have her obsessed with not killing this white stag, you should explain, at least a little, why she is.
This ended in a cliffhanger but i will not be reading the second one because of how little the story keep my attention. I ended up skimming the majority of the sex scenes, which means the majority of the book, and didn't really enjoy the dialogue going on between the characters.
Also I am still not sure if this is a time-traveling book or just a historical romance because if there is time traveling, its not explained.
I started reading this book because it was free on Amazon, so I figured why it download it. It had a cute storyline, but I felt like there was a lot missing I felt like a background needed to be built up. The end left with quite a cliff hanger and that made me sad. I am unlikely to read the next book unless that becomes free.
Fun to read but the plot didn't really go anywhere. It was a handy story to pick up and put down while waiting for appointments, etc.
The main character is Mya who suddenly arrives in the Scottish highlands but with no indication of where she is from (so that eliminates any difficulties for the author). Kayden, the handsome fellow who discovers her offers her his protection and home. There is instant attraction. A flimsy story is concocted to explain her sudden arrival in his hut and she is slowly and grudgingly accepted by the Laird and his clan members. A cousin of the Laird provides a bit of menace as he attempts to abduct Mya but she starts to fight him off and fortunately, Kayden arrives in time to truly teach him a lesson.
I notice that with many light romances in current day, historical or time-travel, the romance sometimes crosses over into erotica. I suppose it would be difficult to even define a line. This is not to say that I was shocked, but more amused by the phenomenon.
This is my first book in the 2017 book reading challenge and here I am reviewing it in day3 since I started the book. This is the first book of the author that I am reading. I picked up the book when it was free on amazon and I picked it up for historical romance theme with Scottish background. However, the book turned out to be an erotica. The hot steamy scenes in details in all the chapters can hook you up if you enjoy reading this genre. The rating I gave for those scenes as the author did a good job in writing these scenes. However, I found the romance missing and above all the plot of the story amiss in the complete book. This book is suppose to be book 1 of the series so maybe the author has a story in the other parts of the series. The blurb is very interesting which made me read the book till the end. I would recommend this book to those interested in adult erotic read.
Was a little to confused to start. And then the story started off great!
Mya falls through time and meets Kayden in the rough highlands of Scotland. The basics ensues that regularly happens in romances. They of course fall in love. A white stag plays an important part to skipping time.
All in all book was well written, it just got redundant and boring. I eventually skimmed pages just to get to the epilogue and didn't miss anything. Beware it is a cliffhanger and you'll have to read the books that follow.
Let me start by saying a book that doesn't end and forces readers to buy teh next book to know the end is not a book it's a marketing gimmick. This starts with Mya suddenly appearing in the Highland woods. Kayden lives remotely and finds her. A very heated romance develops and things get hot. Mya learns to fight and a mysterious stag keeps following her. What happens in the end? No clue. You don't seem to get grounded in the story because the language is current and this is supposed to be historical. It started great but seemed to be going nowhere.
I must have missed the time travel part. Although the storyline has a lot of sexual situations it is very boring. The beginning seems interesting, the middle just the same stuff, and finally at chapter sixteen we get more story. I wouldn't waste your time on this book unless you really just want read about to people having sex.
“Remember enough of the past… You may be able to control your future.” All she saw was the sky. It was a deep cerulean with an occasional billowing white cloud, like a desolated island in a sea of blue. She couldn’t remember the past, how she had arrived at this particular moment of time, or indeed where she was. She didn’t feel any alarm or, in fact, anything. it hadn’t even registered, until she stood, that she was complete and utterly naked. From her bare feet to her unadorned head she was as bare to the world as the day she was born. Mya Boyle was neither appalled nor shamed at her state of undress and only registered a magnificent stag standing in close proximity as unmoved and unafraid at her sudden appearance. Not even the whiz of an arrow in flight and its impact on the ground close to her feet startled the deer into flight. The invasion of the arrow into their peaceful world did alarm Maya and when she spied a hunter notching another arrow to the string of his bow, instinct took over and she yelled for the animal to flee for his life. Without the slightest hesitation, she moved between the hunter and his prey, sacrificing her body to shield another. This is the first book of A Moment in Time Series. It explores the passionate relationship between Mya Boyle, a visitor from another dimension and-or time, and the Highlander, Kayden McGregor. Kayden isn’t the head of a clan or the Laird of a castle. He is just a warrior/farmer/hunter, living a humble and semi-reclusive life in a simple cottage on the outskirts of a Highland village. Love may be timeless, but so is lust. Lust plays a leading role in this historical novella. It could have been so much better. If the author would have spent as much time, space, imagination, and energy in developing the story and characters, as she did on the erotic scenes of lustful passion, this story could be given the accolades of a great book. With the author choice to neglected (or avoided) incorporating Scottish words and phonetic dialect, into the dialogue, while making the story easier to read it also robbed it of realism. Cliff hangers are never a good choice for a writer to make. It is much better (and more honest) to serve a complete literary meal and not clear the table before the dessert is served.
I started reading this book because it was a series and I thought it looked interesting. The writing style was good however, there were sayings and wording in the book that did not match the time/year the characters were in. I've never seen a highlander book that was based back in time where the main character says hes in his birthday suit. It just didn't match up and I wish it would have.
I've always loved historical romance and for the most part this book was good. There are a lot of sex scenes that were very detailed, but sometimes they took away from the story itself. I loved both of the main characters, even seperated I think they are great.
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars because of the wording not matching and the sex scenes taking away from the story. I wish there was more in this first book but I know it's a series so I will try to keep reading it. We will see how the other books are.
The author captured my attention and kept me on the hook. But at the close of the book I found myself off the hook. The last 3 chapters of continuous sex and orgasms was seemingly building to a cliffhanger end to make the reader get the next book. Instead I saw how it was going and had no more interest in reading any of the others. It was unlike any time travel I've ever read. Also I forewarn any faint of heart this author does describe the intense sex portions in the greatest details and he does the best job of it and there is more of this than storyline. I think the reason for it is to show how deep their souls are connected. I would guess it continues through the following book series. Basically don't read if explicite descriptions of sex is not your cup of tea. I rated it 5 stars on that alone if the time travel had been different I'd still be reading the series!
This is a wonderful time travel story of Mya Boyle and Kayden McGregor who travel through time connected by vague memories and feelings. Mya ends up on the ground with no memory of who and where she is, but she does know that she's drawn to the white stag that seems to watch over her. She's rescued by a highlander who feels indebted to get her to safety, but nothing more. As time passes, and time is relative here, Kayden teaches Mya to hunt, make food from nature and milk the cows when he's sick. Passion grows between them, but Kayden has a hard time accepting it because he doesn't want to move too quickly. Mya doesn't share the same qualms and shows him how much she can pleasure him. It is filled with sex, but it's also filled with discovery. The narration is wonderfully done by Stacy Hinkle, with a dynamic voice that brings each of the characters to life!
A woman wakes up naked in a field of grass with a white stag grazing nearby...she has no clue how she came to be there, no memory of anything at all except her first name...Mya. The handsome highlander who finds her brings her home with him to his humble cottage, and they eventually fall in love. This was a pretty good story, but we never found out who she was or where she came from! If there's one thing I hate, it's an unresolved story...I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, especially when you read an entire book and at the end are as confused & clueless as you were on page one.
I will NOT be reading any more of this series, since I refuse to buy the next 4 books just to find out who this woman is and where she came from.
While the story of Mya starts out promising, it slowly progresses & doesn't evolve very much, at all. The title indicates that its supposed to be a story of time travel, but doesn't give you any hint of that at all, aside from Mya's dream and showing up mysteriously in the field that day. While the scenes are fantastically written, I feel as though the story itself just seems a bit stunted. There are so many ways this could have flourished into a beautifully detailed tale of love thru the ages, but unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. Fingers crossed that the next book in the installment picks up the pace a bit and make sup for what this piece lacked.
If you don’t like cliff hangers you may not like this as it appears the story of Mya is covered in several books. I expect the story is probably going to have an interesting conclusion but I personally got frustrated with the slow moving storyline. I love having a book with well defined and meaningful sex in it but I felt that two full large chapters devoted to one sex session, one for her, one for him just lost the whole plot for me. The author is capable of writing well but I just felt this was padded out with the sex scenes. Shorted books dealing with the mystery would have suited me better. Still ok for highland lovers.
The start of the book was promising. She wakes up in a field with no memories, finds Kayden, etc. They didn't hate each other like the summary implied, they were just strangers. The only thing suggesting time travel is the title. I know she "time travels" to other places, and that's the rest of the series. But really it just seems like they're alternate universes. And there really wasn't any conflict, and therefore plot. Sure, there's a man's unwanted attention, but that's about it. I wasn't thinking about these things while reading the book, but when I finished, it all felt lacking. And they had sex a lot, but I don't feel like it really added anything to the story.
The plot is good, but the explicit sex was just too much! There were many sequential pages of very graphic sex descriptions Some can be nice, but this was just ridiculous; if this was made into a movie it would be a XXX! And as the first book nears the end, the heroine disappears. She shows up in another place again having amnesia in the next book.. Some of the dialogue is modern instead of what would be used in the given year of the story. I won't be buying the rest of the stories.
Beautiful love story. I adore the main characters and how they fall for each other. The interesting build towards understanding Mya's plight of memory loss. I couldn't put the book down. Definitely read the summary/author's note that pops up on Kindle when you first load the book, it'll give a good baseline about the series and you will probably tell if you would like to read it. I love that there are bits and pieces to discover over the series and I can't wait to read the second book.
In order for a book to be considered time travel, for me, I need a sense of where Mya has come from and when she's landed. This is a mystery to both Mya and the reader. Then when is a time when they ride horses and use swords and bows. That's a pretty big time span. And nothing says she's necessarily from current, modern times. Add to this, the reader is left with a cliffhanger!
First let me say that I really wanted to rate this like 2.5 Stars. The author gives the Title that the young lady will be a bride.. but in fact she is not, as she is swept away to the next time before it can be. So the title is completely off.
Now, lets move to the story line. It lacks so much. Like a ending.. the beginning is good but never explains the reason for it, you have to assume. I love the ideal of this story but it misses so much!
I love time travel books but this was just unfinished, no beginning no end, she never remembers anything of her life, the reader gets no hints of her life or why the time travel is used or what part the white stag plays. Even the villain has only an introduction no resolution. The sneak peek is not enough to read the second book for me. It seems to indicate the same outline as this book
I almost have a LOVE,hate relationship with most authors.
Because it's ALWAYS cutting the story OFF at the most important part of the storylines. I could and have Cried each time the White Stag chose to cause Mya to almost Die. How many more times do you expect Kayden to follow Mya thru the strands of time ONLY to have her die again in FRONT of his eyes 👀.So sad and way to much Sex.in my opinion.
This book alone is a bit of a bore. There no action no character development no looking into the mind and feelings of the characters. Hell the scene doesn't even change. However the general idea behind the story is intriguing. Apparently you have to read the whole series of books to find any kinds of character development and to find out what the check is going on.
