I enjoyed this book. There were a lot of parts in it that made me think of his novel The Sowing Song. I was not surprised when the first two chapters in that book were put at the end of this book. This time instead of Eastern Europe the setting is a small community, commune might be a better word, in North Carolina. We see their different wedding rituals as he is accepted into their community.

If you liked The Sowing Song, you'll like this one too.

It was a marmite book I think. I didn't entirely enjoy it, but others will!

I really liked the plot, but I put 4 stars
as a mark for myself so that I would not reread this book.
The customs in this paradise village were hard for me.
