Vegan food is everywhere, it's tasty, varied and ethical. Gone are the days when the bland and the brown dominated a Vegan's recipe choices. Thanks to a surge of interest, and an influx of ideas from around the world it's now possible to create a series of flavourful dishes, bursting with colour and panache. Covering ingredients, nutrients and recipes, this delightful new book is perfect for entertaining friends, cooking for a family, or a solo night of vegan joy! Veganism is a compassionate way of life, it tries to avoid the exploitation of animals, in any form. So that means no leather, silk or other animal derived products. For cooking, Vegans do not include many staple foods in their diet: meat, fish, all dairy products (such as cheese or milk), eggs and even honey. This puts a premium on the need to create the sort of balanced and nutritious recipes, provided so comprehensively in this mouth-watering new book.
This cookbook would be fantastic for an individual who has just made the decision to try veganism. The first 68 pages is informative - no recipes. Firstly it defines what a vegan is. It addresses what vegans eat, what they wear, what we can use for cosmetics and household cleaning. It is written out in such an easy clean format. Beautiful photos. Never boring. And I have been a vegan for over two years now. But I still enjoyed reading these first 68 pages.
And then onto the recipes. Sure there are recipes in this book that I will also find in my other 500 million vegan cookbooks. But everybody has a different way of doing things. The change in that one ingredient could make all the difference.
I love that the first recipe is mayonnaise. Who doesn’t love mayonnaise? I mean besides my husband...
I cannot wait to make the chocolate banana oatmeal. I’ve never come across a recipe for anything like that.
Hopefully the temperatures get out of the 90s soon so I can make the cinnamon hot chocolate.
And perfect for the Autumn season is the recipe for black bean and pumpkin seed dip.
And I can definitely see me making this on Monday for lunch: fishless tuna pasta salad. I can’t wait!
I’m really glad I found this book at Barnes & Noble this week. I didn’t go looking for it but I’m glad I stumbled upon it.
I’ve owned this book for a while and over time have tried several of the recipes in here. They have all turned out excellently, and I credit the author for her excellent explanations, and accompanying photographs. I’ve also had my kids try some of the easier recipes; my 8 year old daughter’s favorite recipe is the vegan ice cream. She is so proud that she was able to make it without any parental help.
Vegan (food) is a book with beautiful photos and more good receipies than not. The definition pages are interesting and appreciated. I am not a full on vegan; as I like honey too much in my Earl Grey. I also willl be eating fish until I can fully figure out how to assure that I am taking in enough of the correct nutrients for optimal brain function.
Fun, simple, easy recipes! Super yummy and also has great info in the intro about veganism and how to maintain a vegan diet. Tips and tricks and hacks for the curious or already practicing vegans! Love it!
❤️❤️❤️ Veganism has given me so much energy. I just started transitioning last week and it’s been great. When starting off, definitely recommend following the planetary health diet to not make the transition so hard on yourself then slowly working your way through. 💗💗🌱🌱
