Bayside Desires

Rate this book
Fall in love at Bayside, where sandy beaches, good friends, and true love come together in the sweet small towns of Cape Cod.

Bayside Desires is a USA Today Bestseller

In Bayside Desires…
As the co-owner of Bayside Resorts, Rick Savage has a fabulous job working with his best friends and brother, and a thriving business in Washington, DC, which he’ll be returning to at the end of the summer. Spending time with his family is great, but being back on Cape Cod has unearthed painful memories. When sweet, smart, and overly cautious Desiree Cleary moves in next door, Rick is drawn to the sexy preschool teacher, and she just might prove to be the perfect distraction.

Running an art gallery was not in preschool teacher Desiree Cleary’s plans, but after being tricked into coming to her impetuous, unreliable mother’s aid, she’s stuck spending the summer with the badass half sister she barely knows and a misbehaving dog. If that’s not frustrating enough, she can’t escape the sparks igniting with her strikingly handsome and pushy neighbor, Rick, who makes all her warning bells go off.

Passion ignites as Desiree and Rick spend long summer nights sharing heartfelt confessions and steamy kisses. For the first time in years Rick is enjoying life again instead of hiding behind mounds of work miles away from his family. Desiree has touched him in a way that makes him want to slow down. Only slowing down means dealing with his demons, and he isn’t sure who he’ll be when he comes out the other side.

BAYSIDE SUMMERS is a series of STANDALONE steamy romance novels featuring alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. Rick Savage proves that you can have it all, yet still feel empty inside. Between crossover characters, light hearted banter, meaty storytelling and new characters, I get to know and love, Ms. Foster is on the right tract with the Bayside Summers series. Bayside Desires is the first book in the series and it marks the beginning of something special. Rick and Desiree have had their fair share of painful moments. Abandonment issues, disappointment and loneliness have left Desiree with a heavy heart. For Rick, a tragic loss has left him with a bruised soul and a battered heart. There are moments where the Kleenex will prove to be a readers best friend and there are also instances where humor flows freely again. All these little pieces merge into a challenging and rewarding work of art.

Audiobook Review: Bayside Desires (Bayside Summers, #1) by Melissa Foster, BJ Harrison (Narrator) -

Kleenex is a must. Smiles are abundant and heart tingles are a given. Foster and Harrison team up to add a ton of heat to the summer by adding a little holiday to the heart. Rick and Desiree take love thy neighbor in a surprising direction. Home, heart and family add some dramatic twists as they make their presence known. Yet they do not take away that warm, welcoming feeling. Walking on the sunshine has never felt so good.

BAYSIDE DESIRES is the first book in Melissa Foster’s brand new Bayside Summers series. This is a spin-off from her other small-town Contemporary series called Seaside Summers.

I knew I was going to enjoy this book because I’m a big fan of Foster’s small-town Contemporaries and the Seaside Summers series is my favorite series that she writes. I love the combination of humor, heart and heat in the series and BAYSIDE DESIRES consists of all that as well.

Just like the Seaside Summers series, this one is set in Cape Cod. I love reading about the Bayside Resorts and the owners there. I can already see how Foster is trying to build on those relationships. I won’t be surprised to see more of these characters in future books.

The romance is sweet and pleasant. It has a flirty side that also brings it into more sexy territory so I really think Foster hit all the right spots with this one. Needless to say, I’m very excited about the rest of the series and I have a feeling that this series might be another favorite of mine. Please Melissa Foster, write more books in this series!!

Wow, just wow, why I don't read books by this author more is beyond me, lol. Making a note now to read her stuff often! The storyline was fantastic and it flowed seamlessly and flawless!

Rick and Desiree, holy WOWZA, this man and this naughty preschool teacher were full of surprises. I loved that the story was straightforward, sweet and full of complete sexiness, the sex scenes and dirty talk were spot on perfect!!!!!

I loved all of the secondary characters and cannot wait to read the rest of this series. I know the next book will be good BUT I am dying for Drake and Serena's story, I hope:)

I don't know if I've already announced I have a favorite Melissa Foster book but this is it right now. THIS ONE IS IT!

I think what I loved best about the story is the romance/love progression. The story starts very sweet and it just flows into flirty and turns sexy as you read. It was a perfect unfolding for these two characters. Both come with a little crack in their hearts from their past, so any kind of insta would have been wrong. And it isn't that at all. It felt good to read their journey. The moments for Kleenex and the moments full of humor were perfectly blended. It was an excellent fell good story all wrapped up in a lot of heart.

You know, as I write this review I realize that almost every book I've read by Melissa has these qualities so I can't really pinpoint what exactly makes this my favorite for you, but I feel it. So you'll just have to trust me that it is wonderful and you will love it :)

Bayside Desires is the first book in the Bayside Summer series by Melissa Foster and it's also one of the many books in the Love in Bloom series. It's a spinoff from Seaside Summers, as an introduction to Mira's siblings from book eight, Seaside Whispers.

Rick Savage was the gorgeous, sexy, confident, protective alpha that co-owned the local resort in Wellfleet, a small beach town, with his brother and best friend. He ran a multi-million dollar business back in DC but was overseeing a renovation to his resort for the summer.

Desiree Cleary was the beautiful, reserved, pre-school teacher that was running her mom's gallery during her summer break. She was shy, structured and innocent by nature but her mother and half sister were the carefree spirits, drifting wherever they needed to float for the moment.

Foster brought humor into Rick and Desiree's meeting and building of a summer relationship. It was told in a dual POV and was a quick and light hearted read. It was a journey of self discovery and healing while finding their forever love.

It moved quickly and was a sweet story with a few sexy scenes. I liked Rick's alpha tendencies mixed with a softness when directed at Desiree. I also liked Desiree's hidden sassiness that Rick brought to the forefront. And a truly refreshing change that had no angst or drama, but was a good solid love story.

True to form, Foster set the stage of the series by introducing each of the characters of Wellfleet and giving us a glimpse of each wonderful and humorous personality. Next up is Dean and Emery'a story in Bayside Passions.

Nice plot with good characters who are finding their way to love. However, it really made me lose my interest somewhere around after the 100th page. It didn't focus on how their relationship grew, but more on the two characters finally learning to let go of their past. For the love of God, I did not get Lizza. To me she was a crazy, denaturated mother who abandoned one of her daughters because her spirit was too artistic and who basically ruined her other daughter because she could not provide a stable home. That sucked and I hated that the author romanticized that. Eh..could have been worse, I guess.

REVIEW: BAYSIDE DESIRES is the first installment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult BAYSIDE SUMMERS romance series. This is architect and co-owner of Bayside Resorts Rick Savage, and preschool teacher/ art gallery manager Desiree Cleary’s story line. BAYSIDE DESIRES, and subsequently BAYSIDE SUMMERS is another one of Melissa Foster’s spin off series but can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Several characters and couples cross over for cohesion and familiarity.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Rick and Desiree) BAYSIDE DESIRES follows the building relationship between resort owner and architect Rick Savage, and preschool teacher/ art gallery manager Desiree Cleary. Desiree Cleary was called home by an urgent email from her mother only to discover that both she and her sister had been set up by the woman neither daughter knew very little about. Rick Savage had returned to Bayside Resorts in order to help his brother with the refurbishing of their family owned resort. Meeting Desiree Cleary finds our story line hero reconsidering his future, a future that never included staying in the seaside town of Bayside, Cape Cod. What ensues is the quick to build romance between Desiree and Rick, and the potential fall out when Desiree and Rick must go their separate ways.

Melissa Foster pulls the reader into a sweet, sexy, romantic tale about two people coming to terms with the reality of family, history and the past. Rick struggles with the painful memories of what was and what will never be; Desiree battles the pulls of family, and the world she left behind. The $ex scenes are intimate and spicy.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Desiree’s half-sister Violet, their mother Lizza, and Desiree’s best friend Emery, as well as Rick’s brother Drake, his best friend Dean Masters, Drake and Rick’s sister Mira, her husband Matt, their son Hagen, and temporary resort manager Serena Mallery.

The world building focuses on friendships, family, struggle and fate. Rick and Desiree both see the world through bitter memories but memories that come clearer when acceptance and love come to pass.

BAYSIDE DESIRES is an engaging, delightful and uplifting romance. The premise is heartwarming; the characters are passionate and playful; the romance is seductive. BAYSIDE DESIRES is an enjoyable and moving start to a new series.

Bayside Desires is the first book in the new series, Bayside Summers by Melissa Foster. I went into this story expecting a fun, flirty, sexy and emotional read and Melissa did not disappoint. This book makes for the perfect summer read.

This instalment tells the story of Rick Savage and Desiree Cleary. Rick is a co-owner of Bayside Resorts and he operates a thriving partnership in Washington DC. He is staying in the Cape for the summer but beyond that; he has no plans to stay, as being there stirs up painful memories. However, he would rethink that decision when Desiree came into his life.
Desiree, a pre-school teacher, found herself stuck in the Cape for the summer after being conned by her mother. She was not amused as she found herself spending time with a sister she barely knew and having responsibility for running an art gallery. However, she never expected that this would be a life-changing journey.

What I Enjoyed.
The story was fun, engaging, sexy and romantic. It held me captive from the first page and I could not wait to find out why Desiree’s mother tricked her into coming to the Cape. It ended the way it began sweet and endearing.
I liked both Desiree and Rick. They were characters whom I had no problem connecting with. They both had experienced pain in the past, which they have not dealt with, and it prevented them from living their life to the fullest. They are both successful in their respective careers but the pain from the past held them back. Rick’s issues lay in the fact that he has not been able to come to terms with his father’s death. He has difficulty with spending time with his family and taking part in activities; he used to share with his dad.

Desiree had mommy issues, which was understandable as she grew up believing her mother did not love her enough to stay with her. Her mother is an artist and a free spirit. She was never around when Desiree needed her. Desiree tried hard not to be like her mom, which led to her giving on art, for which she had a talent, and living a life free of spontaneity.
I loved the secondary characters. Characters from the Seaside series made an appearance. My favourite was Desiree’s sister Violet. She was the opposite of Desiree. She lived for spontaneity. She was not afraid to speak her mind. I enjoyed watching the development of the sisters’ relationship. Initially, it was hard, but the more time they spend together the closer they got.

The romance was sweet, sexy and hot. I enjoyed their initial meeting, which was funny and sweet. Their attraction to each other was clear from that moment. Their love for each other developed over the summer. What was meant to be a summer fling became something more meaningful. They were perfect for each other. Spending time with Rick brought out a side of her she never knew existed. Watching her move from a woman who prefers to err on the side of caution to one who was willing to take chances was delightful. They helped each other to work through their past hurt and overcome the obstacles they now faced.

What I did not like
The predictable ending. The HEA was expected, but I felt that the decision they made, in the end, to be together was rushed. The outcome of their decision was clichéd. I figured that was what would happen, but secretly I was hoping that I would be wrong. No such luck.

Verdict
Bayside Desires is a beautiful story of love, family, forgiveness and healing. If you love sweet romance that is packed with, heat and sizzle, then you will enjoy this book.

3.5⭐️ Desiree and Rick have an insta connection in the place that both of them have family ties to but both are just visiting so agree to a holiday romance. It becomes clear pretty early that this is a fast moving romance and both feel the ties to stay pulling at them. An easy and enjoyable romance read.

~ 5 Adoring Stars ~

What a total swoon-fest!!! This book totally made my heart melt and left me with a huge smile on my face!!

Bayside Desires is the first in Melissa Foster’s Bayside Summers series. It was a wonderful, easy and sexy beach read. If you want to get lost in a happy world, then this is the book to read. It was a fairly quick, lighthearted read, with very little (almost no drama) filled read. Even though this book isn’t filled with a lot of drama, the storyline was interesting enough to keep my attention all the way through. I absolutely loved these characters and wanted to stay in their world as long as I possibly could.

This story focuses on Desiree and Rick. Desiree is a pre-school teacher in Virginia and is summoned by her estranged mother to come back to the Cape, being lead that her mother’s health is failing. So of course Desiree goes to her, only to find out her mother isn’t sick and is leaving her to run her mother’s gallery and shop. Oh and it’s with the help of her long lost sister Violet. To say Desiree is mad was an understatement. But because Desiree is a kind and loving soul and wants to get to know her sister, she decides to stay. I also doesn’t hurt that there is a very sexy jet skier she is attracted to. Rick is only in the Cape to help his brother Drake and his friend Dean renovate their resort that they co-own, once that is over he is heading back to DC to the business he runs their with two other friends. What he doesn’t know is how a mysterious woman he met months ago, could really change his life. Rick sees a woman when he is jet skiing and is instantly attracted to her. What happens when a pool hopping dog brings these two together??? Will they be able to get past all their personal demons to find happiness again?? Can it be with each other?? Read this book to find out.

Bayside Desires is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV in the third person. I am not normally a huge fan of the third person POV, but Melissa writes it in such a way that you can’t help but get sucked into the story and feel what these characters are feeling. I absolutely love her writing style.

I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who loves a swoony Hero who will melt your panties and your heart. This is a perfect beach/pool side book to read on that lazy day in the sun.

I can see that this is going to be another great series by Ms. Foster and I can not wait to see the other books that come into this new series. I enjoyed watching Rick and Desiree fall in love and work through their family issues of loss, trust, abandonment, their insecurities as well as their family dynamics. This story was kind of had an insta-love feel but it worked without being cliché. The characters were well written with some amazing chemistry between them and the plot flowed well and did not feel rushed. I have yet to be disappointed by one of Ms. Foster's books and this one kept me interested from page one and fit well into a spin off of the Seaside series. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and would recommend it to others.

Okay so you all have heard me rave on and on about Melissa Fosters books and with good reason! They're fantastic books and if you've not read one of them yet, I would highly suggest you grab one and try it! You WILL be hooked, because she is a phenominal author. One of the main things I like about her books is the fact that while they are a part of a series, they can all be read as stand alones as well! Bayside Desires is the first book in the new series, Bayside Summers and you will absolutely fall in love with Rick and Desiree! I liked Desiree's innocence but I also liked that when she opened up, her inner Vixen started showing, especially when she was around Rick! The sparks flew from the moment they laid eyes on each other! I really liked Violet and she's the kind of half sister/friend that I would want. I would say I'm more like Desiree, with the exception of the cursing, because I can curse like a sailor. I can not wait to read Vi's story, and I'm really hoping Emery has her own story too! 5/5 stars!

**Reviewed for Hooked On Books**

I gave this book 4.5 stars!!!

I have read several of Ms. Foster's books and with each one I keep falling in love with her characters. She make you feel like you are one with them and sets your mind up where you feel everything that her characters feel. She has became one of my GO TO Authors for when I'm in a book funk, I know that she will always bring me out of it.

This book is Desiree and Rick story. Desiree comes to the island after getting a disturbing message from her mom. After arriving at the island she is drenched by jet ski and the most handsome man she ever met. She tells him she is there for just a visit. She is surprised that her mom is in need of a break and wants Desiree and her sister to take over her shop for the summer. When Vi and Desiree come up with a plan and a way to re connect to each other, they decide to stay for the summer. What they hadn't planned for was the hidden room in the back of the Art store or Rick.

When these two have a summer fling, they are bound and determine to make it work when he goes back to DC and her back to her teaching job in VA. Can these two make it or will they be doomed from the start?

I can't wait to read Vi story, I just have a feeling she will give someone a run for their money!!!

Fantastic start to the new Bayside Series by Melissa Foster. Rick and Desiree captured my heart from the very beginning and as always with these series, kept me interested till the very end. Rick is strong and loving and he knows what he wants, if only he could let go of the hurt from losing his father many years ago. Desiree has been hurt by the one person in the world who should have always protected her, her mother. When they both find themselves back on the Cape, their hearts begin to heal and find love in one another.

You get a touch of Mira, Matt and Hagen in this story. I love the way Ms. Foster weaves all her books together to bring you the old that you love and the new that you'll be loving soon.

Great story!

Another great spin off from Melissa Foster. Rick is Mira's big brother. He is working on the Cape starting up a resort with his brother Drake and friend Dean. Desiree is visiting the Cape after getting a cryptic email from her long lost mother. They meet on the very first night Desiree is in town, when Rick splashes her with his jet ski. Take about not getting off on the right foot. Rick gives Desiree his number, but she is a straight laced kind of girl so fate will have to step in before she will contact him. This is a fun fast paced book that will surely leave you a little hot and bothered. I love the character of Violet. She speaks her mind and doesn't apologize for it. I wish I could be more like her. I can't wait for Dean and Emery's book.

You know the feeling you have when a book makes you squeal outlaid because you love it so much.... that was this book for me! I loved Bayside Desires, but I love Melissa Foster, so there is not much surprise! This is the first book in a new series, and I could not be happier about getting another series from her!

Desiree's mom is kinda a fruit basket and she has called her home to help out, little does she know what she is getting into by coming home. She has always been the sensible one, cleaning up her mom's messes. But this time, the mess leads her to Rick. Rick is her new neighbor and hot construction worker who she falls hard for.

I loved this couples sass and banter. They made me have ALL the feels. The ending was nothing shirt of awesome. It had me happy and in tears!

I've got to admit that I fell in love with this gorgeous cover long before I could read the book, I couldn't wait to start reading the book, the first from the brand new series.

Rick and Desiree had me hooked from the start, as soon as they had their first flirty meeting, it was unexpected to them yet so well timed, as fate began to play a massive part in their lives. There were so many laugh out loud moments, including that one, throughout this story, their flirty banter and teasing was infectious. Reading Bayside Desires had me smiling and laughing throughout.

Both were in the Cape temporarily, neither looking for romance. Desiree had received an urgent SOS from her distant mother having her believe she needed her straight away. Luckily she is a teacher in the holiday season, so packed her bags without hesitation, only to find that once she had arrived she had been tricked into looking after her grandmothers house and mothers business, along with her sister who she hadn't seen in a long time, while her mother scurried off on her travels. What began as an incredibly inconvenient situation, especially awkward between the two sisters, moved to being an incredible turn of events for all.

I escaped so easily into this story, you could feel the emotion when the you needed to feel it due to the writing style of the author, you also had the fun, craziness and heat all rolled into one, with chapter 8 being my favorite! I loved Rick and Desiree's story so much. Their loveable heat flew off the pages and slipped easily into the readers mind. Their chemistry was undeniable, simply gorgeous, they had such a wonderful relationship that it had you begging for more when you finished. I really enjoyed following the sisters as they re-connected and the hilarious situations they found themselves in. I loved all the new characters and how they welcomed the two sisters into their lives with open arms. Of course we can't forget about Cosmos for his cupid moments!

A beautiful perfect ending and I cannot wait for more!

I honestly don't think there has been a book by Melissa that I have read that I didn't love.

Bayside Desires is book one in the Bayside Summers spin-off series from Seaside Summers and I already cant to read more in the Bayside series!

Rick Savage is Mira's brother who we met in Seaside Whispers, and he is the Cape working on a renovation project with his brother Drake and best friend Dean - Desiree is in the Cape under the pretence that her mother is ill or worse only to discover it was all a ruse to get her and her estranged sister Violet together for the summer whilst her mother goes off to "relax" - now I have to admit for the first time I did not like a character in Melissa;s book - Desiree's mother! BUT...... that did change once I saw her reasoning but I mean come on who would lure their daughter making out they were dying and turn around and say they needed a holiday!

Desiree is such a sweet innocent young woman who is far different form her feisty outgoing free-spirited sister Violet, they didn't spend much time together growing up, so there are bridged to be built between them over the summer and being thrust together in this situation by their mother is less than idea but they actually discover that they really get along great despite their differences.

When Rick first meets Desiree there is no denying the instant attraction between them, but both of them know that they are only in the Cape for the summer, so they make it a fling to remember. I really loved how Rick brought out the naughty side to Desiree and loved watching her grow from this innocent school teacher to vixen. I also loved how the both overcame scars from the past with the help of each other as if the fates brought them together for that very purpose - her mother was right after ;)

This is a great start to series with sizzling hot romance, great characters and that feel good summer vibe.

Rick Savage is co-owner of the Bayside Resorts, he also has a wonderful job with his best friends in Washington DC, where he will be returning at the end of summer.
Desiree Cleary was tricked by her mother and left her very organized, structured life and ended up in Bayside for the summer running her mother's art gallery with her half sister who she barely knows.
When Rick sees Desiree he is immediately drawn to her. They fall for each other instantly, the get close fast and share their past and concerns with each other. Desiree is becoming more relaxed and Rick is learning how to have fun again. Bayside Desire is a fun, flirty, sexy read that you don't want to put down once you start. I absolutely loved the audio version of Bayside Desires. B.J. Harrison has a wonderful voice and brought Rick and Desiree's story alive.

I want to like it. Especially since Foster offers it for free as a gateway book into her series. And I am intrigued by the concept, I just really disliked the characters. Desiree is a goody-two-shoes written as some vixen/innocent combo that grated. Rick was an alpha/Dom-wannabe who was always talking about how proud he was of his sweetheart and how he loved his (my words) blushing tramp. To the extent I had to check how old Desiree was supposed to be because I could have sworn she was 15 and he was 50.

As much as I wish this was different, I doubt I will continue with the series.

“Are you clean?” - DO NOT RECOMMEND

having your characters say that they’re “clean” rather than say they have a negative sti/std test is absolutely ignorant! This means that you feel that people with an sti/std (1 in 4) are “unclean”. Nice way to polarize, isolate, discriminate and dismiss an entire group of people who are allowed to have sex and be sexual. Are we just supposed to take the male lead’s word for it? Ridiculous and ignorant. Educate yourself.

What do you get when you cross a kindergarten teacher with a resort owner slash contractor? A love so powerful that sparks jump off the pages of their book. Melissa Foster does it once again with BaySide Desires, the story of Desiree and Rick.

Rick Savage is a contractor architect and resort owner who is working on a new resort with his brother and business partner when he spots Desiree standing on the beach. Of course, he wasn’t working at the time he spotted her. He was flying past her on a jet ski.

Desiree was at the popular vacation spot because her carefree, gypsy mother summoned her to the family beach home, previously belonging to Desiree’s beloved grandmother, who passed away several years earlier. Lizza had told both her daughters that it was a matter of life and death and they both needed to come to the beach house for the summer. Desiree and Violet didn’t grow up together. Desiree grew up with her father and Violet traveled the globe with Lizza.

Rick hadn’t been back to the Cape for extended periods of time since his father passed away when he was a teenager. The Cape held memories, both good and bad. The bad had been tucked away while he was becoming married to his job. But, since he was spending several months there to open the new resort, all sorts of memories had been popping up.

When Rick and Desiree meet, sparks flew instantly, causing both to think of nothing else except each other. While Desiree had Rick’s number, he didn’t have hers. So when her mother’s dog ends up in the resort’s pool, Rick returned him to Desiree, unknowing that it was her dog.

This love story is about healing, family drama and following dreams. Melissa Foster knows how to make the characters your best friends, you family and keeps you wanting more.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.

Desiree Cleary gets a scary email from her long lost mother that says she needs to come to the Cape to prolong her mother's life. Well that is a stretch but then again it is her mother after all, she goes where the wind tells her to go. Just like she did when Desiree was younger. Now that she is on the Cape, her half-sister Violet is there and Mom is leaving, to find herself again but will return by the end of the summer. And the girls have to come up with the money to pay the mortgage by selling their mothers paintings and other crafts. What they find in her craft shop is a little surprising to them both.
Rick Savage is part owner of the resort on the Cape with his brother and their best friend. He is back home for the summer to help with some renovations to the resort. There are a lot of memories that Rick has been running from and that is why he left the Cape all those years ago. But one day while riding jet skis he notices a beautiful blonde that he can't take his eyes off of. He has to get closer and meet her. When he realizes he is to close, he ends up soaking her with water and she is still beautiful even though she feels like a drowned rat.
Desiree and Rick have a connection from the very first time the meet and it is hard to deny that attraction. After a few dates, they decide to have a summer romance but it doesn't take them long to know that a summer will not be long enough. Will Desiree and Rick be able to go back to their regular lives and only see each other every few weeks? Can they make a long distance relationship work? Will love be worth the distance between them?
This is a great beginning to another series from Melissa Foster. It is full of love, friends, family and finding your forever love. I can't wait for the next one to see what happens in Bayside Passions, book 2.

I get giddy anytime a new Melissa Foster book hits my eReader. She has a way of connecting you to her characters that you just can't put the book down after diving in.

Rick Savage is home for the summer to help his brother and best friend with a resort that they co-own with updates. He loves the time spent with his family and friends but his life is back in Washington, DC now and the daily beaches of the Cape are a distant memory. But when he mets Desiree Cleary, there's a shift that he's finding harder and harder to resist. The only thing is that the ghosts of his past seem to have just as big of a pull.

Desiree Cleary has never had the best of relationships with her mom and sister. When her parents divorced and her mom left with her older sister, all Desiree wanted was to feel wanted by the two. So when her mom calls and says that she needs Desiree - she drops everything and heads to the Cape. Once she gets there, she finds her mom with suitcases ready to leave, and a pissed off sister who was lied to also. The two women are not left with the task of taking care of their grandmother's house and trying to forge a relationship that's been strained for years. The last thing Desiree was looking for was love, but when Rick Savage made a big splash, she found him hard to ignore.

Rick and Desiree has scorching hot together. Their chemistry is through the roof, but both have ghosts on this island that could keep them apart. The two help each other in confronting their demons, but will their summer fling be just that? Or could this summer love turn into a lifetime?

Bayside Desires was a page turner. Full of steam and heart, Bayside Desires is the perfect way to kick off your summer reading list

Rick and Desiree were interesting as a couple and as people. I actually enjoyed getting to know them, although there were times where I thought the relationship moved oddly fast, for the most part I believed their chemistry, connection and attraction.

I liked that they had the commonality of both having lives somewhere else with ties to the community and a reason to be there as well as a reason to leave at the end of the summer. I think, at least in their case, it made them being willing to explore a relationship with one another make a lot of sense, the idea that both were going to be leaving.

There was drama with Desiree's mother, her sister, and the idea that in order to stay she would have to give up her home and career in Virginia. In order for Rick to stay with Desiree, he was going to have to walk away from a business he founded in DC. Obviously, as this is a HEA, this is what happens, they work it out to be together.

And, that was my issue with the story. I felt that it was all too quick. Yes, the foundation was in place for both of them to make the decision they did, but it just seemed like a sudden decision, especially when changing your entire life is on the line.

I do recommend the book, as overall the writing and the characters were strong, I just thought the pacing and resolution at the end felt a little rushed, that they resolved some things that weren't able to be resolved quickly in the space of a couple of pages.

But, the characters were cute, the story was fun, I enjoyed it, and I recommend it overall.
