Wang Lin is a very smart boy with loving parents. Although him and his parents are shunned by the rest of their relatives, his parents always held high hopes that he will one day become someone great. One day, Wang Lin suddenly gained the chance to walk the path of an immortal, but found that he only had mediocre talent at best. Watch Wang Lin as he breaks through his lack of talent and walks the path towards becoming a real immortal!

Er Gen is a platinum author on Qidian who used his love for classical chinese myths as a foundation on which to build his webnovels. He has become a pillar of the xianxia genre, and his flagship novel, Renegade Immortal, placed within the top ranks of Qidian’s monthly recommendation charts for many months.
Ah, this book was so good. Once you get used to Er Gen's writing (or maybe it's just the translation), you can start to ignore the stuff you don't necessarily like and just focus on the story. And that is where this book shines. So many things that were set up in the past come to fruition and more things are set up for the future. There are so many payoffs for readers who pay attention to the details. In addition to all of that, Wang Lin grows as a person. The way things happen, the reasons for why things happen, and the eventual changes are well done. I didn't exactly like the Wang Lin of the second and third books, but I like the Wang Lin that emerges by the end of this one.
