Extremely twisted and exceptionally brutal, with some explicit and strong sex scenes!
It most definitely isn't for the faint hearted. The gore, torture and sadistic snuff scenes are stomach churning and they start fairly quickly from the beginning of the book until the last page.
Sam West has written this very well, making it a page turner and a can't put down book.
It's action all the way with plenty of sick moments....a full fix for all extreme horror fans.

Aren't snuff movie books fun? There were some shady characters, and some that I couldn't get a straight read of. What I expected of the unreadable characters didn't happen. It was actually very surprising. The ending was a bit too happy for me, but that didn't take away from the greatness of the blood, guts, and gore.

The term "toxic masculinity" gets thrown around way too much today, but this book is a disturbing example of what the term actually represents. Sam West's books have a feminine voice and deal with female fears in a way a male writer could not. West writes books that challenge the reader on a visceral and moral level.

So, I'm really waiting for snuff to come on my reader, porno star meets filmmaker meets mafia-winner
This was also a story that was more really bad circumstances in the bad "hood" and what can happen. Was it the worse acts ever, nope I am a hard core MC gal, so did I flinch, nope. Was I looking for a tiny hea, yeah I ready it all, and what Would twist it would main steam this book.
It's a "gentle" ha start into this genre but more clockwork orange than American psycho and Dr Lecter,,,that jump suit still gives me the creeps.

Steven Andrew Jones (Stevie) was on the brink of turning eighteen years old, and armed with hopes of escaping the poverty of Manchester to a life of college, he would never truly get the chance as his older and more sadistic brother Mark has much broader plans for them. Stumbling into something they even the darkest corners of his mind could never of imagined, he watched and participated in Crystal’s brutal death And rapes orchestrated by his older brother and his close friends. Taking their sick fascinations deeper, they turned towards the brutal sexual crimes and murders of a hooker off the street, before turning their eyes to the girl next door. The very one his younger brother Stevie had been crushing on forever, the very same girl who won’t keep her eyes to herself... Julie was horrified by the screams coming from the shag of an apartment next door, but was even more shocked by the flashbacks haunting her every time she closed her eyes. A victim of a rape years ago, she turned towards her fiancé Grant for a comfort she never explained to him, until her kidnapping by Mark.

An explicitly-gory and shocking tale of butchery committed by a bullied, misguided and pathological young teen who desperately desires acceptance, a feeling of empowerment and a sense of belonging. This story commandingly grabs your undivided attention, right from the beginning, and swiftly pulls you into the writhing undertow of its dark, twisted, complex, action-packed plot.

This book reached into my head, collected all of the nightmares I’ve had in recent years and put them on paper. I’ve haven’t seen such terrifying male characters since reading Hogg, these are the men we think about when we’re outside in the dark alone. Really difficult to read but it did the job of scaring the shit out of me.

This was a brutal, squeamish read!
Although I think the ending could be a tad bit better (jk I just didn’t want it to end yet) BUT.. it makes sense on what would realistically happen.
This is another favorite of mine of my finds on snuff related splatterpunk/extreme horror books!
The characters dialogue is.. intense, but in a good way!

My first review of West less than 5 ***** and here's why.
I heart Sam West. I adore his loving, happy depictions of gore, blood, bodily fluids, violence, sex, and rapacious, ecstatic villains. I just plain love his work. I overlook typos and bad grammar and poor punctuation as a rule, because the story always overcomes the technical gaffes. But in this case, I couldn't, and it didn't.
Not to say this was a bad story. Far from it; it was very good. Not quite to the Sam West standard though. The title is misleading -- there's no club, just two brothers, one only 17 and trying to impress his maturity on his much older guardian brother, and 3 (which decreases to 2) scummy friends. They kill and etc the older brother's girlfriend and film it, and decide to do it again since it's a saleable commodity. Also there is a revenge killing planned once they're seen. I don't want to say more because it would spoil the story, but it is all rather haphazard, and what prep and planning they utilize is poorly thought out and juvenile.
The problem, story-wise, is that none of the "bad guys' seem properly motivated, enthusiastic, or truly interested. It seems more by rote and copycatting porn that they do what they do to their victims, rather than any driving desires. With a few delicious exceptions, even the graphic portions seem to come from an uninspired and bored Mr. West. The pure fun and delight in evil that is a West trademark is sadly missing. The characters don't have the marked, individual voices they should. The "good girl" is alternately confused and confusing, and never achieves any full clarity of person. The "bad guys" are completely interchangeable, the only differences being in physical appearance and Steven's age. Even the living room furniture isn't described consistently or clearly. Disappointing. It was still a good story, but below West par.
I hate to do this because as a rule I let editorial issues go, but three instances in the story were so glaringly flawed, they caused a complete ejection of my attention. Totally disrupted the furious pace and suspense. First instance: "leash of life" was used instead of "lease on life". Glaring and completely jarring, because the phrase was used during an important section of Steven's character development at the beginning (he is the younger brother) of the story. Second instance: the action is running fast and furious, at full suspense level code red, when the victim says to Steven, " you have to unite me". Wow, talk about being completely ripped from a story into reality. Unite me? How about, "untie" me? MUCH better option, don't you think? Completely destroyed my immersion in the story. Third instance: bad guy is about to anally rape a male victim. The narrative uses the wrong name to indicate the subject of the foreplay of the insertion, confounding me and completely changing the plot.
These comments may seem harsh, especially since I still rated this 4 ****, but I expect a lot from Mr. West. He's capable of more so I expect more. That's not a bad thing; it's a tribute to his talent that I know how high his writing can fly. No flight from Snuff Club though, just some ambulatory floating.
I've got my fingers crossed for the next one.

Quick gross reads are always fun so

Ok; felt a little like the author had an idea, and knew how they wanted to get there, but was just filling in info in an a + b = c kind of way. Like: "I want this character to be this type of guy now, and this type of guy later, and this is how he gets there" but it doesn't seem like the route really '= c.'
I know, I suck at explaining myself, that's why I'm not a writer!
Overall, though, decent read. It was a tad hard deciphering some of the slang, since the author and I are from different sides of the pond, but it wasn't super hard, and mostly context helped a lot.
Definitely will check out more of this author when I'm in the mood for this genre.
