Kelly Martin is an author and developmental editor who lives in a possibly haunted house in a small southern town. While she'd like to say paranormal things only happen to her at her home, it would be a lie, mainly because she searches them out in some of America's most haunted locations. Whether it is talking to the ghosts of Waverly Hills or the spirits of Thomas House Hotel, these events inevitably land in some of Kelly's books. Just wait until you read The Haunting of Micah Reed.
We jump into the 4th and final book with Gracen, poor Gracen is cleaning up harts blood. In order for them to save the world Lucien had to die. They needed a heart, Lucien's heart, mixed with Gracen blood and the abomination blood. That spell put Gracen's soul back in her body long enough to turn back time. As far back as she could. Hart told Gracen that she needed to kill him so he couldn't play the part he did in creating the abomination. He told her he wouldn't remember her or that he loved her, he lied, like hart does, he lied. He remembered and she knew he did, that's why he took the knife from her, so she don't have to be the one to kill him, and he killed himself. Or so Gracen thought, again hart lied lol.
Gracen was devastated, she needed to help him, to save him, but when she ran to get her phone hart's body disappear. Hard to save someone who isn't there.
Gracen is in a slump, depressed, no one remembers the world was ending or that they had died, because of her. Why did she get to live? Why did she get to remember?
Hart was only doing what he thought would keep Gracen safe. He thought if she thought GE was dead that she would be safe, he couldn't let himself die with Seth still out there. He was worried Seth would still hurt Gracen. Hart wanted to hunt down Seth and kill him so he couldn't hurt Gracen, then he'd disappear. He didn't account for how much Gracen would miss him, how hard everything would be on her.
He was almost to late to save her, she had harmed herself in a bad way and he was almost too late, if not for Lucien bringing her back she'd be dead.
Lucien has another agenda, he cares for Gracen, but is she worth all this? He's supposed to kill her...but can he do that?
Its all come to a head....something has to give and its about to, Gracen has to fight....she has to accept that she is worthy of a life. She has to fight the abomination inside her. They are one in the same, what happens to one happens to the other, but Gracen has to fight!
I absolutely loved this series! I'm going to miss Gracen and Hart, but I'm happy that they are now at peace with their story told.
Kelly Martin definitely know how to end a series with a bang. Hart killed himself to save Gracen but will it be enough to save Gracen from herself and the abomination that lurks within. Don't forget to read the other books in the series first its worth it
If you haven't read this series stop reading this review, grab Heartless, and start reading! You wont regret it! I've been putting off this review for so many reasons, but mostly, writing a review means the book, this series, is really done- no, completed. Complete. This series is complete and this finale was more than I imagined because I never thought it was going to be like this... and I'm glad.
Gracen is my rock. My constant. The one thing that keeps me even the slightest bit human.
If someone asked me to summarize this book or even this series in one word, for once I wouldn't stutter around trying to grasp a word, for once a single word comes straight to mind: Empowering.
I stand and look down on her. She's so... frail. So small. All this time I've been afraid of her, of the voice in my head telling me I'm not good enough, not worthy. And when I look at her now, I have to wonder who the hell she thinks she is.
"Yes?"
"Yes. Yes, I'm worthy."
If you haven't read this series then stop reading this review because there will be spoilers from this point on. Reckless picks up right where Breathless left off.
Jessup Hart Blackwell saved the world.
We see Gracen panicking, crying, cleaning up the blood. We get to see what life is like for her after the event. Then we get to the big problem. Gracen is still alive. Gracen being alive means there's still the Abomination.
I can never allow myself another moment of weakness.
Everyone we've come to love and hate show up in Reckless for their final move, their last effort to make the world and their lives go the way they want it to.
If you don't save her, if you don't bring her back to me, I'll rain a fire of death and destruction that you've never seen onto the world. I'm a demon, Lucien. A demon. Evil. Ruthless. Reckless. I'll do whatever I damn well please if I don't have Gracen by my side. You wont have to worry about the Abomination when I'm finished with everything. You have my word on that." My fingers dig deep into his neck. So deep I can see red droplets of blood pooling, fixing to run down my fingers.
"You'd do that? For one person."
"No." I shake my head and let his feet fall to the concrete steps. "I'd do that for her."
The book is about each of these people coming up with a way to stop the Abomination from taking over again.
As long as there is hope, I'll be okay.
If you asked me for the top 10 ways I expected this book to go I would have been completely wrong. Kelly Martin took an intense action packed series and wrapped it up in intense feelings. These college kids had to face and conquer the impossible and in doing so they had to have their hearts ripped out, but in the end they got their Hope.
He's Hart. My Hart.
This was a beautiful ending for a beautiful series!
This was the best ending to this terrific series! Just when you think all is lost, Kelly Martin comes in with a twist so big that you're just speechless.
This book was amazingly written. Kelly put this together and it is the best. Gracen became the Abomination and almost destroyed the world. The guys found a way to stop her temporary but she was still past of Gracen. That is until Gracen rips her own breath out to destroy her. But there's more to know. Read it if you dare
I feel so empty I side now that the series is over. I'm going to miss Hart more than anything. LOL. The villain and the hero. <3
Kelly, this series is incredible. Thank you for having the brilliant imagination to envision these lives and write about it. Can't wait to read your other books. Love ya darlin'
Epic conclusion to this series! if you are looking for a spooky halloween read I would definitely pick up this series starting with book 1 Heartless which is still one of my favorite spooky reads of all time!
Wow!!! This is an amazing ending to the series. Grace and Hart have been through so much. I loved the way it ended. I highly recommend this series!! ♡♡♡
I liked this last volume of this series. There are plenty of twists at the end and between Gracen and Hart I did not expect this because Gracen becomes the abomination and want to destroy the world, but the author Kelly Martin wrote us a nice end for these characters.
