Noah Wolf #2

Lone Wolf - A Noah Wolf Thriller

Rate this book

Noah Wolf is one of the world's most deadly assassins, completely devoid of emotion and conscience. These factors, which others would consider to be handicaps, allow him to evaluate situation instantly, and from a purely logical standpoint. His decisions and actions are never tainted by emotion or feelings, which frees him from any risk of fear or guilt.

When Team Camelot is handed an unusual mission to rescue the abducted daughter of a foreign president, Noah and the rest go into it with confidence, and are quickly successful. Back home, they are ready to celebrate, but something doesn't feel right. The mission was too easy, and there are indicators that someone may have discovered who they are and tracked them back to Neverland. Noah's house is entered while the team is away, and he is unable to shake the feeling that the mission was nothing but a ruse to expose E & E.

It doesn't take long for him to decide that they must return to the field, their new mission to track down a Russian counterpart of their own Allison Peterson. Nicolaich Andropov has marked Noah for termination, so Noah decides to use himself as bait to draw the man into a trap. Unfortunately, Andropov is known as a ghost, a man whose appearance is unknown, able to move in absolute secrecy and remain several steps ahead of any who pursue him. When Noah fails to recognize this fact, Sarah becomes a hostage and pawn in a battle to the death.

There's only one tiny chance to save her, but it will mean Noah must go unarmed and alone to meet his nemesis. The game is on, with his own life and Sarah's as the prize.

Cliche after cliche, many grammatical errors, simplistic dialogue, and lack of descriptive settings (with the exception of detailed descriptions of breakfast, lunch, and dinner), made this book hard to take seriously. I think it would mostly appeal to a (hungry) teenage boy with fantasies of a hot girl, a computer geek, the muscle, and a "cool" assassin teaming up in secret missions--complete with lots of food. Based on the design cover and some of the scenes, I would guess the author thinks of his protagonist as a James Bond type character, but the dialogue is more along the lines of a country bumpkin.
When I read the first in the series, I thought the author was mimicking his "emotionless" protagonist, with the lack figurative language. So I read this 2nd book hoping it would develop more style, but it never did. I made it to the end because the story did have a plot that was mildly interesting. The author does have a good concept and perhaps will do better as he matures as a writer.

3.5* due to the narrator.

I wouldn't have been willing to give this more than 2.5* except for the narrator bringing the story to life.

It is absolutely necessary to say the plot is weak to average, character development is non existent and feel that even 2.5* is generous. I liked the first book as it left open chances to develop into a enthralling series.

As the enemy, supported by his state services, is a true professional, this time the fight is close to equal, and the new Camelot's mission might be a failure. Consequently, the action is less predictable than in volume 1, and some of its turns may cause a real thrill. I also liked a slightly ironic approach to the protagonist, as symbolized by the title of this volume, the author's intentions regardless. Even putting aside Noah's growing infatuation with Sarah, without his team and numerous sevices behind-the-scenes - he would be helpless.

I like it. It is a little tooo neat but a decent read.

I do like this series. My only issues is that everything is really easy. Within a night..tensions are resolved and the main character, who's claim to fame is lack of emotion and conscience, has three people willing to die for him, and is sleeping with an agent of his. Now, for one governed by rules and structure (like Spock as he compares himself to often), how is it that he knows this is a breach of protocol but still does it as his boss, because he is so gosh darn good, looks the other way?

As far as the team, meh on their character builds except for a 4 person assassin team, none have issues with what they do and all have sexual relationships. They are given tech that is the stuff of sci fi and that is usually what does the job.

I do read them, so must be getting something out of it but the tidiness of the mission, his success rate and bring the pride of the assassination groups, and lack of anyone ever second guessing killing people, even in some books, young family members, leaves me a bit cold. I get HE has no conscience but wow..NO one has a crisis of faith ever? I dont know.

Just go in knowing you have to suspend a LOT of disbelief. This isn't a series about the struggle of human nature, it's about robot people who have an allseeing god deciding the justice system won't suffice and so fancy weapons and a mission plan is given to a team of four to kill people and their families. That is it in a nutshell. Know that and watch them carry out vigilante justice using cars that change color, 3d printers for explosives, and beer can guns. That's all you get. They win. Bad guys die. Rinse and repeat.

Sort of entertaining

I like the series so far, but a few things kinda bugged me. First off, I don’t think there is anyway that the government would let even a top secret agency ( E &E is kinda corny, don’t you think?) like this one have personal relationships happen. On a different note, for some reason a couple of inaccuracies bugged the heck out of me. The first book had Neil with a bright red Hummer. The second book had it bright yellow. Then at one point Noah said Sarah could drive and they got into her Camaro. When they got where they were going, Moose pulled up behind the Corvette. There was one other instance but I can’t recall it at the moment. I know these are picky little things, but they bugged the heck outta me. They seemed like rookie mistakes, which the author obviously isn’t, but nevertheless they shouldn’t have happened. Other than that it was a fairly entertaining book.

I read this book immediately following Book #1, in the hopes that the series would improve. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The characters are likeable, but seriously underdeveloped. The plot was simplistic, without any twists, turns, or problems. No mission like this one is going to go quite so smoothly - especially for rookies. Sorry, Noah - I must end it, but I know you don't really care.

I have read many of the five star reviews here. To my amazement, the reviewers were NOT all teenage boys. How then, can so many readers give such high ratings to such a mediocre book?
I must assume that the readers have never been exposed to a REAL writer like, say, Daniel Silva.
I bear no enmity toward Mr. Archer, but I cannot sit idly by, while he receives these flowery kudos. This book is doggerel, and I am not even sure if it merits the three stars I gave it.
Come on, people!

Real talk

Actual is 4.1. From the beginning with a kidnapping of a third world President 's daughter to the streets of London to the city of Moscow this book takes you there. At times the story seems so plausible that it makes you wonder if it is actually possible. Unfortunately grammar and spelling issues caused me to dock it. Better proofreaders are needed. Looking forward to starting the next book.

Misses the mark

While I found the story to be rather interesting, there was a lack of depth of details with the main storyline. There was a lot of details that had nothing to do with the main storyline that just served as a distraction.

The 2and book in the Noah Wolf series was better than the original. Noah because of a horrible tragedy in his childhood is not able to feel anything emotionally. He doesn't get angry, he doesn't laugh and he doesn't have the ability to love anyone. After being saved from being executed, he joins a Top Secret Intelligence Agency (which has a license to kill). Noah because of his unique ability to analyze and execute plans is named team leader. He's shocked to realize that he really would miss Sarah if she were killed. He realizes he enjoys spending time with her ( dinners, watching movies) things that normal people do. Sarah is kidnapped and used as bait by a Superstar Russian Agent, who wants revenge on Noah for killing his son. The author really understands the Modern World of espionage, computer science and how the new Political System in Russia is slightly different from the old Communist System. Great storyline and well written

I'd say 30% better than the first one, but still needs A LOT more action. Less lovey dovey faux emotional crap with Sarah and more in the field, fighting/martial arts, gun play, investigating, hacking, running, evasive driving, etc - u know, all the good stuff in a delicious action thriller about a group of ASSASSINS!! Hello!!
Come on now, David Archer! I'll read one or 2 more (since i bought them already anyway) but if it continues like this, I'm sorry but I'll have to tap out. After reading Victor the Assassin, the Gray Man, Orphan X and other guys like them, I understand it's hard to measure up, so I'll give ole Noah and his Neverland Camelot gang a couple more chances. I reeeeally wanna like them...
Upward and onward folks!

Step up from the first book which was more of an introduction to characters. This one manages to focus more on a mission arc throughout and gets right into it. It's an easy and enjoyable read. Nothing very stand out about it though, it's pretty basic, and a bit predictable. Not sure how long all the talk about the main character's lack of emotion is going to hold up going forward in series as there seems to be at least 10x content devoted to talking about his state than there is it actually making a difference; makes it feel like a tacked on trait. Especially so with how relationships are developing.

Darn! Another Book Written as a Prelude to a Future One

THAT is my most severe problem about Book #2; the author should simply finish the story that he’s writing, and NOT dangle future sequels as another possible book. This particular novel also had the most typos in it, that I’ve seen in a while ... there are at least a half dozen that I caught ... for example, ‘willed’ rather than ‘wheeled’, and several other similar editing nightmares that should not have occurred. The story line for Book #2 had some potential, but ultimately was weakened by too many improbabilities; the action simply needs to be more realistic.

Team Camelot is on the case to retrieve a kidnapped daughter of a foreign president. Not their usual purview and it goes unusually smooth. Unfortunately it was a setup so the Russians could get a look at E&E and the team. The team heads back and Noah is in the cross hairs of an assassin as lethal and cold blooded as he is. Noah pours all of his energy into finding the assassin to eliminate him first but things take a turn when teammate Sarah is kidnapped. Still having no emotions, Noah will either save her or eliminate her depending on what happens with the rescue. Assassin against assassin in a fight to the death or deaths.

DNF. I finished the first and hoped that by book two he would mature as an author. Archer does two things well in my opinion. Plot premise and plot blurb to get you interested. I can’t get over the things he does terribly. Dialog feels like it was written by a teenager. Author needs to expand his vocabulary. Grin is used like 200 times it feels like. The Spock thing is already old. Food descriptions are still used constantly because the author seems too lazy to do research into other things or settings. Maybe I’m too judgmental because I’m comparing him to Thor only reason for the two instead of one.

The Camelot team is going into investigate the kidnapping of a daughter of a foreign president unusual for them to have this type of assignment. Soon Noah feels that something isn’t right. A quick trip to London, a killing, was he really the son of the Russian ghost. A man who set him up from the beginning, the case was a ruse from the beginning. Noah would not let
E & E become known, sets himself up as bait, deadly bait. Which brings out the emotions from his team. He does what he has to, if he gets kill so be it, he says. Good story and good team to follow.

Outstanding Series!

David Archer is a relatively new author to me. I have to say his books are real page-turners and keep you reading long after you should be asleep. Noah Wolf, known as Camelot, the foremost assassin in the E & E world, and his Camelot team work seamlessly together and are so colorful it's like reading in 3-D. It's difficult to imagine someone who feels no emotion but fascinating how David portrays Noah's logical side. I can't wait to get the next novel in the series.

This second episode in the series finds our team having to go into Russia and save a kidnapped person, and the mission seems too easy. This turns out to be true and puts the agency in jeopardy of being exposed by the leader of Russian Intelligence. Noah takes his team back, takes out lots of Russian Secret Service personnel, and confronts the head successfully. Al this while saving Sarah from the Russian who has captured her by faking his credentials as a person helping to find this mystery head of the Secret Service while he was the person in question.

I'm smiling! What an enjoyable novel.

This book held my attention from the first to the last page. The action was slick and fast. The characters were likeable and believable. I especially enjoyed the use and introduction of the "M" gadget that took the enemy by surprise😵. Can't wait to read the first book and the rest of the series.( I had mistakenly thought that l was reading the first book in the series!) Great job David Archer👏

Unappealing Conclusion

It was explained that relationships were not allowed; but Noah & Sarah are in one. It was explained that no one can know about their secret jobs or over watch; yet Sarah was taken and have up all the information on the program and team/s. Why is Sarah, or Noah, still alive and celebrated?

The series has been very good... to this point. I'll try one more in the series before I decide to continue. Definitely a shame.

2nd book I series, last for me

I wrote in review of Lone Wolf, the first book in this series, that the writing was poor and I hoped it would get better. Unfortunately it did no, it may actually be a bit worse. So much of this book is disconnected from other parts of the book. I tried two books in this series, can't handle spending time reading more poorly written stories with a style geared to elementary or middle school reading levels.

Non stop excitement

I am really loving this Noah Wolf series. Book 2 was awesome. It has excitement from start to finish. The author does a great job of bringing out the personality of each character and I must say this is becoming my favorite series. The Camelot team finds themselves up against one of the most dangerous men in the world and I can tell you they don't come out of this unscathed.

Just as good as the first. Love all the "toys" they can get for their missions. Very James Bond esque. Exciting, thrilling, and keep you wanting to read more. Just when you think you know what will happen, a new twist appears and unexpected things come up. But don't worry, they may be unexpected to the reader, but Noah Wolf has already planned for the event. On to the next one. Thanks David Archer.

Noah is the most dangerous assassin in the field. Team Camelot is given a job to rescue another leader's daughter. They go and everything is great. It seems too and Noah says they need to go back, which they do. Sarah gets kidnapped and Noah has to go unarmed to save her. The story just keeps on getting better, if that is possible

I must say I did not like this book at all.
I LOVED IT. It has everything ;action, drama, humor, compassion. A spy series with a difference . An assasins team that becomes a family unit looking out for each other . Not only that but , for me anyway , I felt drawn into this family. Most definitely a page turner and I shall be reading the next book right now. Absolutely brilliant.

Another good book by this author. The team goes on a mission to rescue a kidnap victim, but finds that is was a set up. They then find themselves in a mess, but get out. The ending leaves the reader wondering what is next, as the man behind it all is not captured or killed. To be continued. The ineractions of the team take on a new twist. I can't wait to read the next book.

Don't mess with this bad wolf

Trying to get a handle on the mystery agents that stocked the team back to base after their first mission they head out to get close to the ghost.
Table turns right away after beginning the search and one of the team is taken from right until the leader's nose leading to a classic Taken movie action plan to get back to normal the team.

Another great installment

Book two of this series continues the series with more fast paced action. Love the no nonsense, no filler writing by David Archer. The characters continue to develop and to evolve in great fashion. Between the great story and the pace of the book of couldn't stop turning pages.

Another fantastic story!

Yes, there's spelling and grammatical errors, but if you're just looking for a great story, or series, then don't pass this up! There is a lot of repetition about Noah's psychological profile, but for new readers that didn't read previous books, I guess it's needed. The characters are very well written. This series rivals Tim Tigner's writing.
