so i love Dav Pilkey's books because they are so funny and amazing. i like to read them in a random order. I always read them but before this i had never read the attack of the talking toilets. But it was so good.
This hilarious comic book is about two boys who love drawing comics and a principal who wants to separate them. They end up hypnotizing him into thinking that he is a character that goes by the name of Captain Underpants!
Any kid who loves superheroes would love this as not only are there a lot of jokes that can make young readers crack up this is a one of a kind comic book where it was the first of its kind. No other author had thought to make a superhero so outrageous until Dav Pilkey thought of a way. The framing and easy to read speech bubbles are also great as readers can follow along easily.
This book was definitely not my favorite. The beginning comic book portion was choice of words was poor and misspelled. The book using words to describe the children having behavioral challenged and needing attitude adjustments was not OK. Overall, I though the book had a disrespectful sarcastic tone that not needed for that audience.
Wonderful reads from my childhood, ones I’d certainly suggest for other youngsters. Whilst it is not my all-time favourite childhood series I can still recall the details of these meaning they certainly left a lasting impression upon my young mind.
And isn’t that what we want with children’s books, for them to leave a positive lasting impression?
Miss 3 has devoured Captain Underpants at bedtime each night! She loves reading these (and the movie too!).
Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
