She's never had a home
Growing up in a troubled foster home, Mercy Dane knew she could never rely on anyone but herself. She never dreamed she'd ever find family or friends-or a man who looks at her as if she hung the stars.

Until she finds peace in his arms
Police Chief Lon Pittman is getting restless living in sleepy little Blessings. But the day Mercy Dane roars into his life on the back of a motorcycle, practically daring him to pull her over, he's lost. I've written and deleted this review three times now. I feel like I'm getting really wordy in having to explain my position on things and if I have to explain it that much, it just doesn't need to be said. So let's see how short I can keep this...

Mercy is a Mary Sue, but an acceptable one for me - she would make a good h for literally any story. Tough exterior, pudding interior, sharp sense of humor, brutally honest, and yet still somehow a bit naïve. I liked Lon, but I felt like he was a bit one-dimensional... even though I enjoyed that dimension. The romance was all very sugary sweet, though. I now realize I definitely prefer Sharon Sala's darker romantic suspense to her contemporary romance. There wasn't page after page of praying like in the previous book, so the characters came across as regular Southerners instead of disturbingly religious country folk. I dug the action. I almost want to follow Lon and Mercy on their adventures a bit longer if this is the crazy shit they get up to all the time.

But "the crazy shit" is also really contrived. I spent most of the book with that word - contrived - floating in my head that I'm now experiencing that "it doesn't even look like a real word now" thing. For example, three snooty bitches piss off the sheriff, so oh my god what a coincidence that all three of them parked their cars illegally on this very day at this particular diner and then pissed off the one person that could use it against them! There's a fucking spear gun in the trunk - why? Because we need it for this scene to work, okay? It's ridiculous and forced and I still really enjoyed it. The book had some nice moments of humor and I will probably give Blessings, Georgia another chance with the next book. I might even reconsider reading books one and two, who knows?

Mercy is a perfect heroine in this sweet Georgia-set romance. She bakes, she rides a Harley, and she's determinedly independent after years in foster care so when her stars change for the better, even she can't believe her luck.

Mercy grew up going from one foster home to another, early morning trip in the snow to donate blood to a lady in a car accident turns out well. The lady needing the blood is her long lost sister who invites her to live with them. Mercy finds a job and a place to live, plus reconnects with a man she knew. Interesting how they fit all the pieces together. I read the books out of order and while it wasn't a big deal, reading them in order would be better.

Book Review For: A Piece of My Heart Sharon Sala 'A Piece of My Heart' by Sharon Sala is book Four in the "Blessings, Georgia" series. This is the story of Mercy Dane and Police Chief Lon Pittman. I haven't yet read the other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book. Wow...this was such a sweet and emotional book! Will a little bit of a second chance at love theme. Just loved it. Mercy has had a hard life alone and feels that no one is there to stay...so she doesn't try to form attachments. She just goes it alone. There was only one time that she gave in to letting someone get close and that was just for the night after a robbery. Now years later she is working at a bar with her still hard as nails attitude. It is once again Christmas alone but she get a call that her rare blood is need after a car accident putting that person in dire need. Mercy goes the hour and half drive to Blessing Georgia where her life start to change. I really enjoyed this story especially the strong heroine. Her perseverance through a tough life and her generosity were just so engaging. I also liked the hero's steady pursuit and the solid development of the relationship. Even with a heavy number of coincidences, the characters stole the show. Bartender Mercy rushes to donate blood to an accident victim even when she is chased by police chief Lon.

4.5 stars. No boring points in this tale; author definitely knows how to keep the plot flowing. Liked our Harley riding h and police chief H. Focus on foster kids was wonderful and enlightening .... Duke was a well-drawn, memorable minor player.
2022: Bumping this up to 5 stars as pieces of it have stayed with me thru the years.

This is a wonderful addition to the Blessings, Georgia Book series. When I received an invitation from the publisher to read and review A Piece of My Heart, I eagerly accepted. I had read Saving Jake, another book in this series, some time ago, so I already was familiar with Ms. Sala. This book is a delight to read!

Mercy Dane has no memory of her family. Now an adult, she is no longer involved in the foster care system and glad of it. When she receives a call on Christmas Day to donate her rare blood to save an accident victim, she jumps on her motorcycle and races to Blessings. Never in a million years did she expect to find the victim is her long-lost sister, one she had no knowledge of. A further surprise is finding out the police chief is the same man who comforted her when her apartment was broken into years before.

Lon Pittman has never forgotten the young woman he helped several years before. When he finds her at the hospital, he’s prepared to rein a riot act on her for reckless driving, instead, he is stunned to see Mercy Dare again and to learn she has just saved a close friend’s life.

When Mercy returns to Blessings to be with her new-found sister, Lon is determined to earn her trust and love. Will he be able to convince her to give him a chance, or will her past keep her from giving him her love and trust?

I thoroughly enjoyed A Piece of My Heart from beginning to end. The romance is sweet, the characters are delightful, and the plot is realistic. I’m so glad I had a chance to read this amazing story. The ending is one of the best I have read in a while, and the suspenseful elements are “grab onto your seat and hold on.”

Mercy is an endearing character. She has not had an easy time of it, having grown up in the foster care system, shuffled from one foster home to another until she aged out. This did not keep her from caring for other people. I was so glad to see her find her much deserved happy ending, not only with Lon but with her sister, Hope, as well.

Lon Pittman is a great hero. I loved his gentleness with Mercy, which in no way diminished his masculinity. He’s an all-around good guy dedicated to keeping the folks in Blessing safe, be it a runaway girl or a child caught in a flood.

If you enjoy small-town USA novels with a great array of characters with wonderful American values, then you will love A Piece of My Heart as much as I did. This is a good series and does not need to be read in order. Happy reading!

I love Sharon Sala romances. This story is part of the Blessings, Georgia series and a revisit to the Curl and Dye is always fun. Marcy is a product of a dysfunctional foster care system and when she saves an accident victim they are stunned to discover they are sisters. Marcy is also delighted to find the chief of police is Lonnie, the man she left years ago because she was afraid of commitment. A great story that makes you happy to be back in Blessings.

2.75 stars.

This book was everything I've come to enjoy from Sharon Sala- a captivating beginning, an engaging third person narrative from multiple povs, and a sweet love story. The h was an admirable character and the H wasn't a manho. However, I'm starting to sense a trend. The town mean girls are almost never fully developed, there's always a lot of drama (social, criminal, and/or natural) and the ending usually feels rushed.

While I enjoyed the MCs' backstory, their reacquaintance period was woefully short. Had this not been a second chance story, I would have called this instalove. As it was, it was still pretty darn close. I would have enjoyed this even more had the MCs gone on more dates or had more on the page conversations. Maybe they did, but the author fast forwarded through months of their time together.

Despite all that, I still enjoyed this book. I read through it all in one sitting. I do wish it was longer, which is a rarity for me. It just goes to show what an engaging writing style this author has.

Being Back in Blessings, Georgia is indeed just that. This small Southern town has heart and soul and I love encountering yet another pair who find each other and find healing. Infused with the strong dose of humor I've come to appreciate alongside some heartwarming as well as some excitement, this was another installment as delicious as Mercy's baked goods and cooking.

We are at book four in the series, but this is a series that does not need to be read in order. The town of Blessings and Ruby Dye the hair-stylist is the consistent thread with each new book bringing a whole new story line and cast of colorful characters.

A Piece of My Heart is unique in the series because it begins in Savannah rather than the small town and explores the heartbreaking element of children in the foster care system.

The heroine, Mercy Dane, aged-out of the foster system and remembers nothing other than a string of foster homes. She has all the scars that such a life can bring one, but she is not bitter. I was amazed at the strength this heroine possessed to make a life for herself and connect with the others even if she thinks she can't handle the new windfall of real family and a relationship. A Harley-Riding Baker Divine all in one woman. Lon's a lucky guy.

I appreciated that the author chose to not fiddle with the hero's situation since Mercy's background was enough conflict for the both of them. Lon grew up as a local boy in a loving comfortable home and family. Rather with Lon, the conflicts are external. He's the police chief who has challenges from pig thieves to armed robbers and from steadily winning Mercy's heart.

They are a great pair. She wants to open up to Lon and her new-found family just as he has to be careful not to push her. Their romance is a delicious slow-burn.

The balance of quirky characters and situations alongside real struggles for the people of Blessings was great. Loved the down home tone with a few spikes of excitement to keep things interesting.

In summary, its always a pleasure to slip into the Blessings, Georgia world. I would recommend this one to those who enjoy Small Town Romance with a pinch of spice, scoop of humor, and a dollops of heartwarming blended in.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m torn on this one. I began A Piece of My Heart after a quick dip of my reading toes into Maya Banks The Enforcers series and equally rapid yanking said toes out of that particular pond. This one was soothing to my battered brain, but though high in my comfort zone, I wasn’t blind to some ...issues.

There were coincidences galore. Like heroine has rare blood type, is a blood donor of course, and makes a heroic ride into Blessings Georgia to donate some of that precious Rh which reunites her with her long-lost sister, Sister has been in a terrible, life threatening auto accident and is hemorrhaging out, you know. On Christmas Day nonetheless. Heartstrings appropriately tugged.

Or like the Three Witches of Macbeth who meet Mercy while she and Lonny Jo are having hot chocolate one morning and the The Three Hags decide to spit venom at Mercy (taking advantage of her sister; rides a bike, dresses in leather=must be criminal therefore, dangerous; harming Sheriff Lonny Jo’ rep, blah blah blah) while Lonny steps out to take a call. Mercy leaves in tears, ignoring Lonny Jo. But never fear, coincidence strikes once again in the form of the hairdresser who has met and talked with Mercy and decided her aura is just right for Blessings, overhears every word and tells Lonny Jo when he comes back in the diner to pay the bill. Luckily, the three witches have violated Blessings vehicle safety and traffic rules. For lo and behold when an angry Lonny Jo walks outside, what does he find? Why, one lady parked in a handicapped space, one in front of fire hydrant, and one had an expired tag. So Lonny Jo whips out his trusty old citation book and writes all three tickets. See? Justice. Instant and satisfactory. Also uh just a bit contrived.

Or like said heroine, Mercy, who works in a roadhouse as a waitress, rides a motorcycle, dresses in black leather, but is also a baker extraordinaire always bringing baked goodness into the bar to charm boss, coworkers, and patrons. And, said heroine, Mercy, also decides she likes Blessings, loves her sister, feels a sense of family she has longed for since a series of abusive foster homes, but needs a job and a place to live. Voila! Local diner cook falls, breaks her arm, concusses her head, and most likely won’t ever be able to return to her old job because you know she’s also 70 to boot! And who hears of said baker vacancy to keep the citizens of Blessings happy with heavenly biscuits every morning? Why, the hero, Lonnie Jo, the hot sheriff who hooked up with Mercy for a one night stand several years ago and has carried a torch for his Cinderella who btw didn’t even leave a slipper behind in his bed so that he might scour the land in search of Her Hotness. A job would, after all, keep her within his steely sights until he can woo her proper like, you know. So. Insto! Presto! Mercy has a job. Aaaaand one of the diner employees just happens to know of a garage apartment for let, but the owner probably won’t rent to her as he is one strange guy who keeps to himself. But, of course, he hasn’t met Mercy Sue. Er, I mean Mercy. He is charmed, of course, they connect because he sees her as a “fellow traveler on a similar path”, that he feels he “knows” her. Rent is cheap, garage apartment is fully furnished with nary a cockroach, rat, or bed bug in sight. In fact, it’s downright elegant with all the latest amenities and appointments. At this point, my head tilted a bit and I was squinting at the page in disbelief. Easy peasy lemon squeezy, says my inner critic. A little too easy peasy. Oh well, says my alter ego, just floooooooowwww!

So I flowed into courtship, happy baking, relationship, and discussion of marriage between Mercy and Lonny Jo and on and on and enjoyed it. But still, there were those other coincidences which had my spidey senses on alert. Of course, there had to be one last trial for the happy couple. After all, Mercy worries just before the disaster that is rushing right at them like a ...FLOOD (No really, a flood, a broken dam, and a bus full of children stranded!) that maybe she’s too happy. Hopefully, she ponders, she’s paid her dues in the past and deserves happiness now. And then she and Lonny Jo team up to rescue the children and bus driver with nothing to help them stabilize the bus and deputies/volunteers scattered elsewhere because of all the rain and the flood. But what does Mercy’s wondering eyes land on while she rummages in the trunk of Lonny Jo’s vehicle? A spear gun! And rope and duct tape! With duct tape, all things can be repaired, doncha know, but it’s the spear gun that will surely save the day. So Lonny Jo makes like Diana the Huntress and shoots the spear gun with rope to the bus in hopes of ferrying the kids across one at a time. How lucky to have a spear gun in his trunk - he didn’t even know it was back there either or what it was doing in the trunk. Am I supposed to believe this was like, divine intervention or some kind of woo woo stuff? I don’t know. I just know I can smell coincidence from a mile away and this one had that familiar stink.

And of course the one little girl overlooked on the bus and who is saved by Mercy at the risk of her own life and thereby fulfilling her prior suspicion and worry of being too happy IS the daughter of one of the three witches with the vituperative tongues.

So ....full of contrivances and a heroine who was a bit on the Mary/Mercy Sue side, but still there was a certain charm and comfort and balm to my soul after my previous reading experiment. I think in the spirit of that comfort, I need to be generous and give this one 3 stars instead of the 2 my evil self was lobbying for.

This was one heck of a emotional roller coaster, the characters were great and I absolutely loved Mercy, as well as Lon.

Mercy is a women who finally gets to live her own life, and make her own choices. After aging out of the foster system, she has a job with people she actually enjoys being with. Her life has been filled with one hit after another. But after getting a call about an emergency blood transfusion her life may actually be turning around for the better. Now she has family, friends, and a new chance for a beginning. And when she happens to run into an old one night stand things become a little.... different then the norm.

Lon Pittman is sheriff and has been putting his all into his job. But when the women he couldn't get off his mind from 7 years ago comes roaring into his blissful town he knows things are going to change. Maybe even make his life a little more exciting, give him something new to look forward to besides his job.

This was a great read, that I will admit it got me to cry a bit at the end. It is a HEA with a bit of Christianity thrown in but it is not a major factor to the overall book. I would highly recommend this contemporary romance that revolves around the belief in family, new beginnings, second chances, and not judging a book by the cover (not talking about the actual book cover lol). I found this a great read that I did not want to put down.

This is the 4th book in the Blessings, Georgia series I’ve read, with about 6 more to go, as of now. It doesn’t take many pages into the book before you’ve figured out who is most likely going to be the next happy couple. The surprise is learning each story because none are even close to the same.

Very easy reads because Sharon Sala is an excellent author and can keep the suspense/romance/community activities moving and very definitely worth every late night, as in up until 4am this week, eventful! I’m so glad I found this author and can’t give her enough praise (almost as much as i give Jody Thomas).

Not everyone gets a second chance but for Mercy Dane it suddenly comes true. I loved Mercy and how strong she was. She told it like it was and had made a good life for herself even if you was alone with no family. She had strong friends and often did for others. When she arrived in Bessings, Georgia to give blood she found more than just a big thank you. A great story with great characters. This is book four in the series but works well as a stand-alone.

It's always a pleasure to return to Blessings, Georgia, although this fourth novel in the series doesn't begin there, opening in Savannah instead, but Sharon Sala has been one of my favorite authors for decades, and regardless of where it starts, I knew we'd end up in Blessings eventually, and I knew I'd love the journey. A Piece of My Heart gets 5 stars from this reader.

In this novel, we meet Mercy Dane, a woman raised in a succession of foster homes who aged out of the system and has been on her own since she turned 18. She's 26 now, working as a waitress in a seedy biker bar in Savannah, Georgia, and she's somewhat down over the fact that she'll once again be spending another Christmas alone, but she couldn't be more mistaken. When she gets a phone call from the Blood Donor Registry, telling her that a blood donor with her rare blood type is desperately needed in Blessings ASAP because there's a life hanging in the balance, she gets on her motorcycle and races there on Christmas Day, not having a clue that her solitary life is about to change forever.

As Mercy speeds into town, she catches the eye of local law enforcement in the person of Police Chief Lon Pittman, who gives chase, planning to ticket her for speeding, but knowing that there's a life at stake, Mercy eludes him and doesn't stop until she reaches the hospital, where she's whisked away immediately. When Lon arrives and asks if a long haired, leather-clad biker had come in a few minutes ago, he learns why Mercy was speeding and is prepared to wait to talk with her. When she's done donating blood, she's brought to the waiting room to have some fruit juice and recover from her donation. It's there she meets the accident victim's husband, Jack, and his brother, Duke. Chief Pittman is there as well, and imagine their surprise when they realize they've already met.

Seven years earlier, 19-year-old Mercy came home and interrupted a break-in at her apartment--the thieves managing to get away with all of her meager savings--just another hard knock is a life filled with hard knocks. After the police tell her not to stay in her apartment since the lock is broken, her new neighbor across the hall tells her she's welcome to spend the night at his place, until she can decide what to do and where to go. After setting her up on his sofa, Lon is blasted awake by her nightmare driven screams. When he races to her side, one thing leads to another and they have quite a memorable sexual encounter--without ever so much as exchanging names. Mercy is gone by the time he awakens, and he had no way to find her, although he does try.

Back in the hospital waiting room, Mercy removes her leather jacket, and Duke notices the birthmark on her neck. After hearing a few facts about her life, and recognizing Mercy's resemblance to Jack's wife, Hope, the accident victim Mercy just helped save, Duke and Jack begin to suspect that she's Hope's long-lost younger sister, from whom she was separated when Hope was adopted and had to leave her 3-year-old sister behind. Duke, more than a bit of a critical and controlling jerk, demands a DNA test, and Mercy complies, shocked at the possibility that she may actually have a family.

When Mercy eventually returns to Blessings to meet and get to know her sister Hope, Lon is thrilled--he's never forgotten her and he's impressed by her forthright nature, her selflessness, and her courage, and Mercy is about to get much more than she ever dreamed of or expected in this charming, small town.

If you've read any of the earlier novels in this series, you know that not everyone in Blessings will be welcoming her with open arms, and Mercy will be tested in ways she could never have imagined. Will she and Lon end up together? Will she decide she wants to return to Savannah? How will her relationship with her newly discovered family work out? For the answers to these questions, you'll just have to read this heartwarming novel yourself.

Sharon Sala has written another wonderful addition to this series, it will have you laughing one minute and crying the next, and it will leave you wishing you too could move to Blessings. Although part of a series, the novels in this series do not need to be read in the order written. You'll find a great deal of wisdom and a lot of heart within its pages, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Life is often hard, and it’s rarely easy. But the strong put their heads down and survive. That’s a lesson Mercy learned early in life, and one she’s never forgotten. Her life has been touched by the kindness of strangers, but it’s also been met by indifference as well. She could depend upon herself only. For the most part she was fine with that – right up until there was a slim chance that there might be more. Opening up and letting people in often feels like the biggest risk there is, yet it’s a risk that Mercy has to take in order to find the life that she’s discovered she wants very much.

A Piece of My Heart brings us back to Blessings, Georgia and the story of a young woman who has survived the foster care system, made a life for herself and is willing to give back to the world at large as blood donor for those with her rare blood type, especially in dire emergencies. On Christmas Mercy gets one of those calls that could save a woman’s life. She has no clue that by answering that call she’s about to discover some answers for her own life – and the chance at real happiness.

Some stories will stick with you long after the last page is finished. A Piece of My Heart is one of those. I’ve loved the Blessings, Georgia series. It’s hard to not enjoy this small town where everyone knows not only your name but your business as well. This story brings some heartbreaking realities to life, and shows that there are always possibilities. It’s an emotional journey in many ways – and a completely satisfying one as well. Mercy and Lon have such a connection. Sometimes you just have to believe that some things are destined, even if delayed. I enjoyed this romance very much and would not hesitate to recommend this story or any one of this series to Romance readers. You’ll discover some wonderful characters, touching love stories and a community of interesting secondary characters to enjoy.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I originally signed up to host this book through Sourcebooks Casablanca by providing my readers an excerpt. I was surprised when I received the first three chapters of the book to share. I always read the excerpts I put in blog posts (appropriate content and all that) and A Piece of My Heart pulled me in - hook, line, and sinker. I contacted the publicist in charge of the book tour and let her know I requested the book via NetGalley and within probably five minutes, the book was mine - All Mine!! Well, I mean, I guess one copy was mine since others have obviously read it, too :)

Mercy's childhood was rough, having moved from foster home to foster home until she eventually aged out. Having only herself to depend on, she tends to shy away from people in general. That is, until the day that brings her to Blessings, Georgia and straight into the loving arms of a town that holds secrets about her past and brings love to her future. The romance that envelops Mercy and Lon, the Chief of Police, is sweet and tender. Lon is a wonder hero to Mercy heroine. They are different yet complimentary. I was able to connect with both Mercy and Lon throughout the book.

The character development was done very well and I enjoyed learning about each character separately and together as they fit within the story. The world was well developed and I was able to visualize it as I read along. I absolutely adore the writing style of Sharon Sala. Her technique is smooth, conversational, well-paced, and engaging.

I devoured this novel in one evening - I just couldn't put it down. I was drawn in by the three chapter excerpt that I read in the early afternoon and spend my evening getting to know Mercy, Lon, and other residents of Blessings. A Piece of My Heart is my first experience with Sharon Sala's Blessings, Georgia series and I absolutely loved the book. I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in the series.

As noted, I voluntarily reviewed a copy of A Piece of My Heart provided to my by the publisher through NetGalley.

This is a wonderful story about a women who grew up in the foster care system and when she aged out and is living on her own she is robbed and a neighbor who she only had seen a few times has her stay in his apartment because he is worried about her door being broken. Ten years has past and Mercy Dane is working at a bar and still living by herself and still saving money in a cereal box. Christmas Eve she gets a call late after just getting home about a little town in Georgia named Blessings and someone needs a transfusion. She has a rare blood type and the only way for her to make it happen is for her to ride her black Harley to this town. Once there she by passes the crash scene and then notices a police car following here she is able to skirt down an alley and make it to the hospital in time for the transfusion. When she comes out from the back the officer is looking at here and it is Lon Pittman, he is the police chief but also the man years ago who was kind to her that night and she has never forgotten. Now looking at each other they are broken up by two men who are thinking that she looks like Hope the women she came to save and the wife to one of the men. Agreeing to a DNA test she and Lon exchange numbers and she goes back home. Weeks later she finds out that yes Hope is her older sister and decides to move to Blessings. This comes with good, getting to know her sister and brother in law and of course Lon, and bad gossip by some older women in town and ends up being handle by Lon. There is a lot that goes on in this story but it all works even the older brother of Hope’s husband who is a knucklehead and does not think before he opens his mouth, but he adds to the story. All of the characters do and you get to see her begin to trust people and grow as a character. A very good book. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. This was another great visit to Blessings, Georgia. The book opens with a bang. Beloved nurse, Hope has been in a serious accident and needs blood. The catch is that she has a very rare blood type. Mercy Dane lives in Savannah and is registered with Georgia blood banks for her rare blood type. When she gets the call that she is needed in Blessings, she hops on her motorcycle and arrives in time to save Hope's life. It is Christmas Day, so it known as the Christmas Miracle. Well, the fates collide as it turns out that Mercy and Hope are sisters, separated in foster care when their mother dies and they were young. Also, it turns out that several years ago Mercy had a one night stand with Lon, the local sheriff. Now there is no such thing as a coincidence, is there?

In this trip to Blessings, we meet some other townsfolk and some of them are not very nice. They were rude and nasty to Mercy, but boy do they get their comeuppance. I loved how some of the other characters stand up for Mercy. Mercy is a strong woman, she had to be growing up in foster care, but inside she is still carrying a lot of scars. She moves in with Hope, her husband and her brother-in-law. Lon wants to rekindle the relationship that only just started years before, but will Mercy be accepted by the town with her motorcycle and wild ways? Again, we will get to the happily ever after, but there is a lot that gets in the way. Mercy needs a job, a home and a strong backbone if she wants to stay in Blessings. Another fun romance with great characters, a well-written story and a great setting. There is an undertone of Christian Fiction, but it is in the way they live and their values, not scripture. I enjoyed this one as much as the last one I read in this series.

This is the first time I've read a book by this author, I am completely captivated by her writing and the characters she's created. This story brought the gambit of emotions...from sadness to joy, and tears to laughter. It was easy to form emotional attachment to Mercy from the onset...her story brought heartache for what she had endured as a little girl and then the harshness that her adult life had become. As the book gained momentum, it was clear that this was no ordinary second chance story.

The uniqueness of the story itself set the tone for the build up to Lon and Mercy's HEA. When Mercy was at her limit of what life had thrown at her, her own act of unselfish heroism, and uncanny coincidences, opened a whole new world of love and acceptance for her...giving her a family, proof that all the ill that life had thrown at her had come to an end...Lon and her sister were her future.

There were some surprises throughout the story, showing that the author knew how to keep her reader's attention, just when you thought Lon and Mercy's HEA was right around the corner, a new twist add additional elements of edge of your seat suspense and action...I found myself holding my breath on several occasions. This author definitely knows how to provide a story that what will keep her readers turning the pages up until the final page.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Sweet, southern romance…

This author is insta-everything for me so I was thrilled to dive into this series, even if it was in the middle. Mercy and Lon’s story works as a standalone so I was happy to dive in…

Mercy is my favourite characters in this sweet southern romance, and that’s saying quite a bit as there are many who are interesting and quirky in Blessings. She’s had to overcome a lot, and while emotionally distant, is also the first to offer whatever she can. Whether it is homemade baking, or the gift of a blood donation, she will do what she can to help her fellow man. Even if she won’t let you thank her for it…

Lon is the strong, handsome sheriff in this Georgian small town. His sense of justice and fairness is strong, whether he is dealing with a pig heist (I kid you not!) or something more sinister…

“Are you flirting or stating a fact?”

While I may not have been surprised by the dramatic events or how things played out, that didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy every family-filled, heartwarming moment of it. So many characters to get to know, and each one unique and worth the time to explore. I want to catch up on all the earlier stories and can’t wait for more. Deke needs a woman of his own now that Mercy has knocked him down a peg or two! ~Diane, 4.5 Bless Your Heart Stars*

I won a copy of this book from Goodreads giveaways. I was not required to give a favorable review. All thoughts are my own. This is a beautiful story of family. Maya was raised in the foster system and aged out and had to find her way. She had to become tough and still be a nice person. She was sick of people telling her how and when to do things. So she was a straight shooter. The one things that she did give back is she is a register blood giver because of her rare blood type. She works in a bar and the man who runs it is like her dad to her. One Christmas Eve she goes home after a long shift and is sleeping when the phone goes of they are in need of her blood. Little did she know that, that call was going to change her life forever. She had to drive to Blessing, GA from Savannah on her motorcycle. And when she is almost gets there she had to get around a car accident. She takes her bike through town with a cop on her butt. She ends up meeting up with what she finds out is her sister who needs her blood. And the cop is someone who helped one night when she was in need. She now has a family and a new home. I cried through most of it, but is was a wonderful read. Never judged someone by the cover because you never know what is underneath.

Sharon Sala is one of my absolute favorite go-to authors. I can pick up any Sharon Sala book and know I'll be having a good time. This latest Blessings, Georgia series has quickly become a favorite of mine. Blessings is a small, mostly rural, southern town, where everyone seems to know everyone. They have a Main Street with the town diner, town pharmacy, and of course town hair salon. It really just seems to be like the type of place a girl like me, who has lived in a big city her whole life, would love to move to.
Anyway, this is the latest book in the series and it was as I expected. It's a very quick and easy feel-good read, like the buttery muffin you have with your morning coffee. This story centers around a stranger to town--Mercy Callahan. Mercy has lived in a nearby city for most of her life and is signed up as a special blood donor for some rare type of blood. She is called into Blessings to donate in an emergency and her entire life takes a different turn after that. It seems Blessings is where you can always find family and love, especially for Mercy. But will happiness stick or will it all just go floating away? Pun intended. You'll have to read it. I don't want to spoil it but of course it's a happy ending. It's a feel good book!

This is a very sweet story.

Mercy works in a bar, rides a Harley and gives the impression of being a tough chick. In reality, she has been battered so much in life that the tough exterior is her way of surviving.

She is also a very kind hearted human being. When she is summoned in the middle of the night she rides her motorcycle to a small town called Blessing. She has a very rare blood type and she wants to help a stranger survive by donating a pint of her blood.

She is shocked when she finds that the stranger she saved is her older sister. Mercy believed that she had no family anywhere in the world.

Hope is Mercy’s sister. She is a very talented nurse, married to a farmer who adores her and well loved by nearly everyone in the small town of blessing. And because Mercy saved Hope’s life, love is spread around to include Mercy.

The story is very kind-hearted.

Mercy finds that Blessing is the perfect place for her. She finds that love is available all around her. And she finds that because of who she is, there is a place for her.

Ms Sala is a new to me author. I enjoyed this book and her writing.

I won the book and I have enjoyed reading this story.

Sharon Sala has always been one of my go to authors when I need that feeling of total elation from a great book. A Piece Of My Heart, the 4th book in her Blessings, Georgia series did not let me down. It was such a wonderful book which touched a few hard topics that are dear to my heart. Foster Care, Family, and and the feeling of acceptance.
Mercy Dane was a foster child who grew up in the system until she aged out. Although she lived a hard young life, she never gave up on life or taking care of herself, and NEVER had the "feel sorry for herself attitude!" She grabbed life by the horns and survived it.
Lon Pittman, Chief Of Police in Blessings, Georgia is about to meet a lady from his past he's never forgotten, but first he must stop her as she speeds through Blessings, Georgia while a horrific wreck is being handled.
What transpires next will grab your heart and pull at your heartstrings as all these events are revealed.
So grab this book, find a quite place, and emerge yourself into another great book as only Sharon Sala can deliver. You just might find a miracle inside these pages.

I so enjoyed Sharon Sala’s fourth in her Blessing, GA series. I hope she keeps writing about the wonderful characters in this town for a long, long time.

Mercy Dane’s mother died when she was a baby, and the foster care system soon separated her from her sister, too. She grew up in a tough situation, and quickly learned not to trust anyone but herself. Now, at twenty-six, she makes her living waiting tables at the Road Warrior Bar in Savannah. Early on Christmas morning, when a call comes for her help, she dons her helmet and black leather jacket, jumps on her motorcycle, and races to donate her rare RH negative blood to save a stranger’s life. In Blessings, she finds more than she bargained for.

Police chief Lon Pittman likes his simple life, albeit a little boring at times. At least, until a dark-haired beauty roars into his town on a Harley. She does everything but invite him to arrest her for speeding, but he soon finds she’s a good Samaritan. He’s even more surprised when he finds that he met her once, one special evening, years ago.

This is a fun and entertaining love story about Lon’s love of a good woman, and whether or not that woman can learn to trust that love.

OK, I’ve given the other books in this series 4-star ratings, I’m breaking tradition with this one. I know that puts me in the minority around here. While Blessings remains the same quaint and quirky small town we’ve come to know and love, I just didn’t connect with the characters as well in this one. Oh, they’re engaging enough, just seemed a little too one-dimensional to me. Mercy has grown up in the foster care system and has been completely schooled in the life of hard knocks. She’s never had a break until she gets to Blessings. Lon is the chief of police and pretty much the perfect guy, a little too perfect. Then there are the typical mean girls who try to rule the entire town. At least their husbands rein them in as much as possible. That portion of the story brought me great satisfaction. However, just about everything in this story falls neatly into place almost immediately, it’s too sugary sweet and so predictable that a couple of times I drifted off and didn’t even realize it because I hadn’t missed a thing. A Piece of My Heart was entertaining but certainly didn’t require undivided attention.

This is book #4 in the Blessings, Georgia series. It was a wonderful book that I had a hard time putting down. I am trying to read as many of the series as possible, and you do not have to read them in order, necessarily, but the characters will be familiar to you as you read the different books in the series.
This book begins in Savannah, Georgia with the main character, Mercy Dane. She is beautiful, talented, sassy, and says what she thinks...honestly. She drives a big Harley and people in town, and from the bar that she works in, know of her. She is very private. She is a product of a failed foster care system.
She meets Police Chief Lon Pittman who has lived in Blessings, Georgia, and intends to live there for the rest of his life. He tries to catch her on her Harley to give her a ticket. She evades him, as she is on her way to rescue a car accident victim who has the rare type of blood that she has.
So many things happen in this book that are unexpected surprises. It's a great read!
