A Nursery Rhyme Suspense #3

Hickory Dickory Dock

Rate this book
When the future is murder.

After a tumultuous freshman year solving the mystery at Detroit University, Marlow Henry and Sage Farrell look forward to a calm and uneventful summer break.

Not gonna happen.

Before Marlow can even make his blossoming relationship with Dakota official, Sage pulls him into her new discovery - a math equation that opens a window in time and space which allows them to witness a murder.

Fate pulls them into a war-torn and deserted version of Marlow's neighbourhood where they are forced to help a rebel group counterattack. The group's ethics are questionable and Marlow has a personal reason to distrust the leader. Plus, members of the small, rebel community keep dying, even outside of the warzone.

The situation is more dire and twisted than Marlow and Sage can fathom. No one is safe. No one can be trusted. Despite their past partnerships, they find that they can't even trust each other. How can they save the world if they can't save themselves?

Wayward Pines fans and readers of J.D. Robb's In Death series or Ready Player One by Earnest Cline will be sure to enjoy HICKORY DICKORY DOCK.

Before Marlow and Sage can sit down and think of all that they had been through in the past year, they are thrown for another loop. Once again the pair must journey to a desolate Detroit that takes place far in the future and try to figure out a murder they happened to witness. All of this before they possibly become the next victims.

I have so enjoyed following this series and Marlow and Sage. From the beginning it is one of those series that grabs ahold of you and demands you read all the books. And I have gladly let it take hold. It has been one crazy adventure after another for the pair (and the reader) as the journey has taken them to places and realms they never dreamed possible. And with this book, the adventure gets crazier and scarier as they start to realize who and what they are dealing with. No one will see the end coming.

Speaking of the ending, now while I wasn’t particularly fond of the way Strauss ended it, I have faith that things will turn around later on. It has to. Right? Ugh. Read the book and tell me what you think of the ending. Was it one you liked? Would you have preferred a different outcome? I am dying to know what you thought.

Don’t let the fact that this book is #3 in a series; it can definitely be read as a standalone if you haven’t read the other 2. But I absolutely recommend the 2 previous books. 4 Stars!

Hickory Dickory Dock book 3 in the Marlow and Sage series by Lee Strauss but it can be read as a stand alone and you won't get lost. I think it is the best so far and I have loved each of them. This is a fantasy/sci-fi/romance/mystery novel. You can't add much more to the novel yet she does this seamlessly and it works. There is action, adventure, intrigue, a hint of romance, a serial killer, time travel, end of the world possibility, suspense, and humor. The plot is well laid out and has plenty of twists. The characters are well developed and interesting. The main ones have stayed true to the past books. The writing skills draws you in and makes you feel like you are there with our heroes. Great job! I received this book for a honest review and it in no way effected my review or rating. Thanks for the opportunity!

In this instalment in the Nursery Rhymes suspense series, Sage has created an equation that opens a bubble in space/time and she and Marlow are pulled into a future version of their home where everything has been bombed and the Chinese have taken over, and a secret underground group are trying to find a way to fight back. But with members of the group being murdered, can they find out who's behind it, and stay alive long enough to get home safely?
I enjoyed this book, which was excellently written and full of great characters that brought the action to life. It was different to the other books so far in that, for the most part they took place in the "real" life of the characters (apart from Marlow's time jumps in the earlier book), and I did feel it was a little less relatable because of this, and enjoyed it slightly less, but it was still a good book, and I'd still recommend it and the series to other readers.

Another good story in this series. Going into the future 2096 to try to change events. Sage and Marlow travel to the future . They meet a band of rebel fighters. The world is very different. The Chinese have taken over the USA and more cities have been destroyed. There is a killer on the loose in the future, Sage and Marlow need to solve the murders.

Wow amazing as usual. Marlow and Sage are looking forward to a quiet summer break. Sage finds a math equation that goes back in time. Of course murder is in the air. Unbelievable as usual, couldn’t get enough. Superb author.

The third of the Nursery Rhyme boxed set was almost as enjoyable as the other two. I loved learning more about Sage and Marlow, and watching their relationship row. The time travel to a dystopian future actually was not as bad as I usually find it to be. (Maybe just because I like the author and her characters.) the tension is well maintained with new twists all the time. However, the final reveal of the "bad guys" and their motives left me slightly disappointed. I think because they were so typical of the genre and mundane. I had come to expect more from Ms Strauss. I will say that in writing the ending she did redeem herself and provided a very satisfactory conclusion to the story. I can't wait to read Twinkle Twinkle and see what's up next for Sage and Marlow. Interplanetary travel, maybe?

Another great story by Lee Strauss! Her Nursery Rhyme series is an amazing series to discover. This was a fantastic Clue game/"Who Dun It" story. There was crazy plot twists and many surprises. I know the answer to the world problems are Bees! Why else time travel and reverse aging and possibly live forever? Is it worth keeping the world's most dangerous math equation or throw it all away to "save" the future. Hard call! There was also still time to throw in a little side of romance in the middle of all this mystery and adventure. There are new relationship beginnings and restoring old ones. Must read more...

This is the third installment of a series. When Sage figures out a very complex math problem and loads it on her laptop a dome is created around her and Marlow. They witness a killing and then return to the present time. Marlow's work is robbed and he knows who the robber is! Sage also knows she has seen the person somewhere, but doesn't remember where. When they try the "dome" again they get sent into the future once more only the dome pops, leaving them there. This story is complex in how it unveils, yet very entertaining. Do Marlow and Sage get back to "their" present time or are they stuck in the future. And the future isn't as nice as what they are used too! Will going back be the answer to some of the problems in the future? Read the book to find out these answers and many more! I received a copy of this book for an honest and unbiased review

Initial Thoughts: I continue to enjoy this lighter sci-fi mystery/suspense series. In this edition, Marlow and Sage find themselves witnessing a future murder...and getting drawn in to not only solving the crime, but the future time line as well. It's a race to see if they can figure out a way back and stop anymore deaths. I was completely gripped by the plot and the on-going romantic tension between Marlow and Sage. I continue to enjoy the dual narrators and look forward to the next title in this series. Hickory Dickory Dock is the third in the series! I really enjoyed the story. It can stand alone but reading the first two will add to the enjoyment and mystery! Marlow and Sage have a connection; and not in the way that you would think! The mystery is woven through out the whole book! Who done it or who is doing it! Marlow and Sage must solve the mystery to survive! I think this book will appeal to all audiences, young and old(well, anyone that enjoys a little sci-fi and mystery). Great job Ms. Lee Strauss

Time travel to the future??

Yep! I love that Marlow and Sage went to the future but it was a scary future. Then Zed shows up to help them. Marlow finds his bio dad. When Marlow and Sage got to the year 2096, found nothing but rubble in Detroit. Not only that, the country was in the hands of china. Trying to deAl with all this plus someone murdering some of the 14 people trying to survive. I c a Mr wIt for the next book that will becoming out!!!

This installment didn't hold my attention as much as the previous ones. I found the ending difficult to believe (even considering this is obviously fiction), and disappointed with Sage and Marlow's interactions. Pros: unexpected sci-fi twists. Cons: Marlow and Sage's relationship choices. Hoping the next installment picks up the excitement of previous chapters.

Marlowe and Sage are now part of my universe! While it may sound confusing to people noticing my rating, reading the book is an adventure. I want to follow the series to its end. My rating is sadly the result of also being irritated at knowing that with the great imagination and creativity that Lee Strauss has, she should also make sure that the book is written as error-free as possible.

Crazy times

This book is quite a wild ride. Sage and Marlow have an incredible adventure and it is a lot of fun watching it all take place. There is something electric about their relationship. This story is also full of surprises. It's exciting waiting to see just what the next chapter will bring.

Great series!

I enjoyed this book even more than the prior one in this series. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just leave you with the knowledge that I was surprised at how the author took things even further than the other books went with time travel.
