Outside of seeing The Midnight Sons all together, there was nothing cohesive or enjoyable about this text. By the end, you are left with a much ado about nothing feel, and most of the “action” throughout takes place in the gutter between panels. I know Marvel is a business and they are in the business of making money. That being said, forcing this weak storyline into a crossover event, which included a lot of fringe titles (both then and now), is as transparently a cash grab as is humanly possible. Marvel would have been better off making this a 3 book arc in Ghost Rider and including all of the other characters to embellish the storyline. The way it is constructed is simply not good, and I feel ashamed I bought into the rumor mill and hype about this subgroup of antiheroes. There is definitely promise with these characters for the home and big screen, but not in this current format.

This was the "Avengers" moment for Marvel's supernatural characters, uniting for the common cause of undoing the coming of Lilith, even if a third of the assembled cast would rather dispose of another third of their number.

The art was superb. This was the best I've seen of Andy Kubert's art when his papa Joe was inking his pencils.
