Very interesting, had lots of art included that wasn’t just Andy Warhol style, it has broadened my understanding of pop art and definitely inspired me! I did find it quite difficult to read, however that is probably because I am only 14. I also noticed there were no women included in this book except for as the subject of the art. And after some research I have found that there is no lack of female pop artists from the time period. The author has decided, whether consciously or not, to exclude any mention of the women who helped shape the pop art world as much as any man.

Este libro cambio completamente mi perspectiva sobre el Pop art. No conocía algunos de los artistas expuestos en el libro, entre ellos Edward Ruscha, Peter Phillips, Claes Oldernburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Hamilton. El trabajo de cada obra expuesta de los nombres anteriormente mencionados me pareció increíble y realmente veo la influencia de estos artistas en mis últimos trabajos. La calidad de las imágenes de las obras es excepcional y el tamaño del libro permite observar las obras a buen detalle.
Si buscas conocer más sobre este movimiento artístico y sus mayores exponentes, este libro te encantará.

Este libro empieza por plantearse qué es el arte, y concluyendo que desde el dadá y el urinario de Marcel Duchamp, prácticamente todo vale. Pero si todo vale, ¿cómo analizas una obra de arte que tiene, pongamos, 80 billetes de dos dólares por delante y por detrás, como la obra de Warhol?
Eso es lo que hace esta obra, y tiene su mérito. Con una historia del género, seguida por un comentario de obras organizadas por el apellido del autor, uno acaba viendo la coherencia y la unidad del movimiento, pero también como las diferentes tendencias, californiana, inglesa, americana, tienen elementos comunes y un simbolismo también similar; también se parecen en el uso de técnicas como las proyecciones sobre lienzo y la mezcla de diferentes materiales.
En resumen, una panorámica muy interesante que te permite conocer un poco mejor qué pretendían transmitir estos artistas y qué problemas resolvían con sus obras. Uno de ellos, por cierto, Hockney, que acaba de morir.
