Wildflower Ranch Series Book 1: Cherish Me, Cowboy Book 2: Her Mistletoe Cowboy Book 3: Her Big Sky Cowboy Book 4: His Outback Cowgirl Book 5: Hold Me, Cowboy Book 6: His Christmas Cowgirl
When USA Today bestselling author Alissa Callen isn’t writing she plays traffic controller to four children, three dogs, two horses and one renegade cow who really does believe the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. After a childhood spent chasing sheep on the family farm, Alissa has always been drawn to remote areas and small towns, even when residing overseas. Once a teacher and a counsellor, she remains interested in the life journeys that people take. She also is partial to historic homesteads and country gardens and has been known to drive hours to see an open-garden. She currently lives on a small slice of rural Australia in central western New South Wales.
6th and final instalment in the Wildflower Ranch series.
Why do all good things have to end? This series was so good, would have loved for it to continue as each one was such a pleasure to read, and this gorgeous Christmas tale was no different. A blissful festive treat.
Peta Dixon reruns home to the Bluebell Falls Ranch after a month away in Europe with her sister, Kendall, to discover that the man who her foreman had employed to run the ranch (after he himself was injured appears) to have moved into her home! Garrett Ross is acting as ranch foreman because he cares for Hal, her foreman, not because he needs the job or doesn't have anything better to do. Hal was important in helping turn his life around when he was a teenager and Garrett will do all he can to help him however he can.
First impressions count and overcoming them can take time and effort, even when these impression are the complete antithesis of what a person is really like. Peta and Garrett had never previously met and their initial impressions of each other certainly aren't favourable! However, their mutual attraction and growing respect for each other might not be enough for them to give their love a chance. There are secrets, personal experiences and much more to be overcome before this couple can attain their HEA together!
This is another story set in the small town of Marietta and I’ve loved every story based there that I’ve read so far - it is a great place to escape to in a story. As usual, even though this is the sixth book in this particular series, it can easily be read as a standalone as each book has a different couple as the main focus. However, if you’ve read other novels in this or any of the other related series, it is a great opportunity to meet up with some of the characters from other stories by other authors but all centred around this endearing town and community.
I was gifted an ARC of this novel via NetGalley with no obligation or requirement to review it. This is my honest review after reading the ARC.
Peta Dixon has been traveling and when she returns home to her ranch she finds the stubborn Garrett Ross has stepped in as foremen while she was gone when her normal foremen was injured. Walking into her home Peta finds Garrett has made himself at home instead of staying in the foreman's cottage which does not put the pair off to a good start.
With Peta just coming in from vacation she's just had a makeover that this cowgirl just isn't quite comfortable with but Garrett takes as there's no way this woman is a true cowgirl. As Garrett and Peta find themselves forced to continue to work together the pair find that they've both come to conclusions about the other that weren't close to the truth.
His Christmas Cowgirl is the sixth book in the Wildflower Ranch series set in the small town of Marietta, Montana which of course is one of my favorite places to visit while reading during the holiday season. Each of the books in the series can be read as standalone novels as they each feature different couples but there are of course glimpses into previous characters in the other books and events that take place in Marietta over the course of all the series that feature this lovely town.
This book is a case of the classic first impressions that had been way off base and as the characters get to know one another they find that they have more in common than either ever dreamed. The relationship is given the chance to grow as the pair get to know one another while all the events and activities are taking place leading up to the holiday season.
Overall, another great holiday romance that takes place in the lovely small town of Marietta, Montana. I just love the small town holiday feel that happens during all of these wonderful stories.

I think I am going to slow down on my cowboy romances. Even though I liked this story and give it a good rating, I found this book....lacking enthusiasm. The cover is gorgeous and the plot sit very well for me, but I felt like the story just didn't quite sit well within my heart. That isn't to say the story is good. I liked the characters and the romance but it felt like I more or less read this exact type of story before. It didn't feel too different for me. But I am sure that is more on me than the author.
Now this does not stop me from following the author, but I just think a break from the norm would be good. So if you are looking for the normal cowboy romance, especially a holiday one, this will fit beautifully.
I love Hallmark movies so I was looking for a book to hit that craving. This was a disappointment. Garrett was overbearing, arrogant, and shallow towards women in his life. Also: is he 34 or 44? Because his accomplishments don't add up to the younger. And I loved Peta except for a single issue rammed in to make her insecure in the beginning. Unfortunately the ball buster doesn't stick around. She acts more as his plot device than a ranch owner with serious ranch education. I wanted to like this book but all my notes say otherwise.
And finally we come to Peta’s story. I always felt it would take a uniquely strong cowboy to partner up with this feisty, strong, stubborn woman and did she ever find all that and more in Garrett. If this is your first visit to the Wildflower Ranch series, then you’re in for a wonderful treat. But don’t worry you won’t get lost among the community that makes up these ranches or the small town of Marietta, Montana. Everyone you’ll meet is clearly defined as where they fit in the family and the extended family of friends. I hope that there are more tales to be told… but I also know that all series (usually) eventually come to an end. If that’s the case with the Wildflower Ranch series, then it’s been a unique and enjoyable journey with these fine people. But, after all, this is Marietta so they’ll probably pop up again somewhere. *grin*
It’s been said that you can never make a second first impression… and for Peta and Garrett that is certainly true. They both made an impression on the other that was completely the opposite of what they truly are like. But once made, it’s going to take a bit to change that reaction.
Garrett is a driven man with secrets he’s keeping very close to his vest. He has ties with the foreman of Peta’s ranch, but other than that he’s a stranger to this community. He definitely knows his way around a ranch. So much so that he tends to ignore the owner’s instructions and does things his way – for now until Peta returns from her trip, then he’s going to get a taste of reality.
Peta is the least likely girly girl you’ll ever find on a working ranch. She’s comfortable in her own skin just as she is. But for a friend she took time away to visit places she never dreamed of seeing, and let her inner girl come out and play with makeup and clothes a bit. Now back home it’s a dose of reality time when she realizes that the foreman who’s here to help out until Hal gets back on his feet isn’t listening to her at all. It’s beside the point that he’s a handsome devil, he thinks she’s something that she definitely is not.. a pushover. He’s going to learn a lesson the hard way.
Peta and Garret were such an enjoyable couple, both together and individually. Their romance is the slow cooker type, with each aware of the other but each having their own reasons for not going further. Garrett has been burned so badly that his drive won’t allow him to accept that there is a woman right here in front of him that could care less about who he is in the world or his past. His hesitation to come clean almost lost him the love that he didn’t know he was searching for. Peta is a country cowgirl from the tip of her hat down to the heel of her boots but she’ll take on Garrett without hesitation. His hidden secrets might hurt but she has to face the truth that this is the one man for her and make her choice.
It was such a delight to run into Payton & Cordell, Bridie & Ethan, Trinity & Zane, Brent & Kendall, and Rhett & Ivy once again. I remember their stories fondly and it was a joy for me to have them so much a part Peta’s story. You’ll also get a very descriptive experience of a roundup, which was fun for me and take the Christmas Stroll through downtown Marietta (which is a character of it’s own) with all its Christmas finery on display.
I completely enjoyed His Christmas Cowgirl. And if I left a little bit of my reading heart on the wildflower ranches, well so be it. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good solid romance with believable characters and situations. It doesn’t get much better than life in Marietta, Montana. You should visit – soon.

An Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book was received free via Netgalley for an honest review.
At last it's Peta's turn! I've enjoyed her in her siblings' books and was excited to read hers. Peta is a tough cookie who does a fabulous job running her ranch. When she goes to Europe with her sister, she has to leave it for a while. A string of issues means that Garrett ends up stepping in as foreman. When Peta comes home, sparks fly!
Peta's slow discovery of her femininity throughout the book is fun to watch. She's never been a girly girl so seeing her in dresses and wondering what she should wear was different and gave her a nice character arc. Garrett's emotional struggles and his loyalty were the perfect touch to draw me in. That they both misjudged the other and then had to start over with cool.
Against the backdrop of a Marietta Christmas, Peta and Garrett were a couple who not only struck sparks but also kept the homefires burning. They are a perfect match. I really liked this book, especially getting to read Peta's story. I like the pairing and I like how they work together.
His Christmas Cowgirl is a wonderfully sweet story of never give up on fall in love. Peta's brother and sister both found love. Peta runs a large ranch never thought she would fall in love. Long came Garrett Ross to fill in as foreman while Wildflower Ranch foreman recovers from injury. However, it was not-love-at-first-sight, and the story of His Christmas Cowgirl continue to show how Peta and Garrett finally fall in love. His Christmas Cowgirl also highlights the problems wealthy people have with paparazzi. I recommend this book.
There’s nothing quite like jumping to the wrong conclusions when you meet someone for the first time. Peta has been a working rancher all her life, with no time for girly things. However, after accompanying her little sister abroad for an extended holiday, Peta’s learnt that there are some things about being female that she can enjoy, and she returns home full of confidence.
Where she meets Garrett, who instantly pegs her as high maintenance, while she views him as arrogant. I don’t think Peta was completely wrong about that, since Garrett definitely has a high-handed approach to being her ranch foreman. True, he’s used to being his own boss, but I would have liked it if Peta had been able to stand her ground a few times and prove that she knew just as much as he did about riding her land and taking care of her stock.
Not that it really matters, because of course Garrett learns that he was wrong. In fact he changes his mind a little too swiftly for me, but it mostly works out, leaving this to be an enjoyable tale about two stubborn, independent people slowly accepting that they’ve met their match. Although, again, when the realisation actually happens, it seems to come pretty swiftly from nowhere. Still, on the whole it’s a good read and I really liked the lack of unnecessary angst.
If you’re a fan of this series, you’ll enjoy getting to see the old characters again. If you like Marietta, then there are plenty of familiar faces and places to make you feel at home. And if you’re completely new to all of this, well, hopefully you’ll be able to settle in without too much confusion as to who everyone belongs with. If you like cowboys and cowgirls, working ranch life and a community Christmas spirit, then you will find something here to enjoy, there’s even a glamorous ball to attend. On the whole, I found the romance pleasant rather than absorbing, but it was great to see Peta finally get her own chance at love. Another enjoyable addition to the Wildflower Ranch series, and if it’s the end, then it certainly sends everyone off in fine style.
This was the 6th book in the series and although it is a standalone it may help to read the previous books in the series. There are a lot of characters and keeping up with who everyone is was a little challenging having not read the previous books. That being said, the author did a good job of incorporating them so I did not feel like it ruined the story for me. This is PETA and Garret’s story.
The book starts with the independent Peta getting back from an overseas trip with her sister Kendall. While she was gone, the cowgirl turned girlie girl for a while, but she was ready to get back to business on her ranch. She hadn’t seen or met the Foreman filling in for injured Hal, but she was anxious to get back to her normal life, lonely as it may be.
Garrett has secrets and a past that he is happy to be able to get away from, even if it is just for a short time. He jumped at the chance to help Hal who has been like a father to him. Fist impressions don’t always go as planned and when he meets PETA, his new boss, he is less than convinced that she can run a ranch.
These two start off rocky and as they get to know each other this story blossoms. It is a nice, clean story about two people finding love where they least expect it. I really enjoyed this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a wonderful story! I was truly enchanted with this story. Peta is the tough ranch owner who has come back from a month long trip overseas. Garrett is working as a temporary foreman on her ranch as his good friend was injured. There are a couple of misunderstandings in the beginning but are quickly worked out (kudos to the author for not dragging that out).
This book is written in a dual POV format. I love that. Being able to see what the character is going through and way really helps me to understand the character better and really enjoy the story so much more. You can feel the sexual tension between these two but without that glimpse into why they weren't acting on it, especially Garrett, it would have been confusing. Garrett has been hurt in the past and is now used to women wanting to be with him for his money so he is wary of getting hurt again. Peta on the other hand is looking for her true love. All of her friends have found it and she has't.
No more information, you will have to read the story on your own. You won't regret it. I highly recommend it.
SENSUALITY RATING: No PROFANITY; No SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS; No Euphemistic "CODE WORDS
GENRE: Modern day; Clean romance
SETTING: Bluebell Falls Ranch in Montana.
CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: PETA DIXON – controlling; experienced cowgirl in everyway; not married.
CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: GARRETT ROSS – ranch foreman who is very experienced working a ranch; protective; honest with the exception…..
SYNOPSIS: She returned from her vacation not looking like a cowgirl. He was mistaken because of the way that she was dressed. Surely, she could not own this ranch. But, looks can be deceiving and he learns while watching the way she handles a horse. It is a struggle of wills between a ranch owner and her fill-in ranch foreman.
WHAT I LIKED: Hal knows even if they don’t. And, Ivy knows.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Romance drags too much.
RATING: (4) stars BECAUSE the plot is wonderfully CLEAN but the romance drags.
Cowboys, a Cowgirl, Christmas in Marietta recipe for a wonder book. Yes it is. Oh my goodness it was so good to catch up with so many of my favorite friends from Marietta. The Dixon family is pretty big and everyone it seems like is getting married except Peta. Nope she IS running her ranch or will be once she gets back from her vaca in Europe. Not her fault goAl her foreman broke his hip right. But handsome Garrett is able to take over. Oh my there is more to Garrett than meets the eyes. I do enjoyed this book. Loved catching up with so many of my old friends all over Marietta. Visiting so many of the sights like Grey's and Sage 's . There's the Christmas Stroll on how I wish the one in my town was closer to Marietta' s stroll. What a warm living book that for me shows strength of character and personal strength.
Peta given a boy’s name, she has spent her life proving she was an equal, if not better.Needing a temporary foreman, he had been living in the main ranch house. Now she is back to take up the reins again, he could move to ?Hal’s ranch. Not possible, no hot water and possum in the attic at Hal’s. Looking at Peta she was no different then the other women who had shaped his life. He would do everything he could for Hal until he returned. Not needing to work, but he owed Hal a lot. Putting up with one feisty stubborn woman and trying to work along side her, wouldn’t be easy. Sparks fly, but both have a love for the horses, and the ranch. The ranch gives them that special feeling of peace and home. Enjoyable to read, and to see love come to them
His Christmas Cowgirl was a sweet read that once again had me curled up next to a radiator and forgetting the cold. It put me in the festive spirit and kept a smile on my face.
I thought the world the author created in this book was great. While I haven't read any previous books by Callen, I could tell they were a tight-knit group and I'm intrigued to find out more about them. I liked Peta's toughness and willingness to get her hands dirty. Similarly, I liked Garret. Although I didn't quite believe in his secrecy, he was a good character and they formed a sweet couple.
Overall this was an enjoyable read that put me in the festive mood.
Garrett Ross has been helping out on Bluebell Falls Ranch, after the foreman, Hal, broke his hip, and ranch owner, Peta Dixon, is on vacation. When she returns they both get the wrong impression of the other, but over time realize they actually like one another. But Garrett has a secret that he doesn't tell Peta about, and Peta has a chip on her shoulder about having to do everything a guy does and for some reason doesn't want or thing she deserves a relationship. I didn't care for Peta (and I also kept wondering why she kept saying she had a boy's name?) I also couldn't understand why the paparazzi would be interested in Garrett. So overall this was a miss for me.
I don't often leave reviews for the many books I read. They have to be either exceedingly wonderful or exceedingly horrid. This book was a delight from the first page to the very last. The characters were livable and the emotions genuine. I also really enjoyed that this story was not full explicit material. It is nice to read a romance novel that is not full of sexual innuendo or too much graphic content. This one is a true happy holiday story. Well done!!
Very enjoyable book. A quick read with good characters that you pulled for to have a HEA. I liked Peta and Garrett very much. Grew up around horses so loved the dedication that Peta and Garrett both show to the recoup of an abused horse. I like all the brothers and sisters and happy family getting ready for a wedding. Cowgirl out of place (kind of) to Cowgirl back in the saddle . Read it for a good romance with a little kissing and suggestion of behind closed doors. We don't always need page after page of detailed sex to get the idea.
This was a beautiful read. This is my first by this author and I jumped right in at this book without reading the others in the series. It worked completely as a stand alone. Peta and Garrett are perfect for each other and I loved how they each thought they were fighting their feelings for each other and being very un-obvious about it to others but they all saw straight through it. The added twists with Garrett and his past were great and added to the depth of the story and showed just how much they both loved each other. I will certainly be looking for the other books in this series.
Book six in the Wildflower Ranch series a well written story with a good storyline. Peta Dixon and Garrett Ross gets of to a rocky start when she comes home from her vacation to find him in her ranch house. Things have gone wrong in the places he was suppose to stay in and he had to move into the ranch house until things where corrected. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I especially liked the surprise their friends and family gets as they are sitting down to Christmas dinner. This is a new Author to me, I now want to read the rest of this series.
His Christmas Cowgirl is the latest in Alissa Callen's Wildflower Ranch series and once again this author has delivered a lovely, warm page-turning story. Set in picturesque Paradise Valley Montana this is the story of ranch owner and cowgirl Peta Dixon and her temporary ranch foreman Garrett Ross. Peta is accustomed to running a tight ship and is initially unimpressed when she finds Garrett has ignored some f her instructions, while Garrett's first impressions of Peta are also less than flattering. I love rural stories and this one fits the bill nicely with its balanced mix of cowboys, horses, cattle and small town country people. The story is well told and had me hooked from the first page.
This is a rather predictable love story that is short on romance. I found Garrett as a likable character and his secret life was the only unexpected thing in the book. Overall the book was just too slow moving for me and way too many details on ranching. It should have at least included one PG bedroom scene. Though, I do have to say I enjoyed the Epilogue, as it was the best written section of the book and included a surprise or two.
Peta Dixon is a very headstrong woman. and she will not let anyone mess with her let along her heart. After traveling around she comes home to a new foreman to replace Hal while he is recovering. Garrett Ross is a self-made business man and he is wroth a lot He goes to the ranch to help out Hal he adopted dad while Hal is recovering from a fall. When Garret and Peta meet they thought that the other is not good to be around but they do find out that they both thought wrong with each other
The Christmas love story of Peta and Garrett. After return from a month vacation in Europe, Peta find a very bossy man in her home. Garrett has come to Bluebell Ranch to be a temporary foreman. Now Peta has a new foreman, a wedding, Christmas to deal with, and she is falling in love with her new foreman. Can she have a merry Christmas with all that is happening? Great story.
This book started slowly but got much better about half way through. It's about a girl named Regan who runs away when she is 16 after insuring that her sister and friend will also run away and that the friend, Felix, will take care of her sister. Regan disappears for 8 years without any contact and then suddenly returns. She turns to Felix for help and eventually reconnects with her sister, too. A nice, happy ending.
This is a very sweet story about never giving up hope of falling in love. Peta has watched her siblings and friends find love and now it is her turn. She doesn't realise that the sexy cowboy acting as temporary ranch manager is actually very wealthy, but Garrett doesn't want his wealth to affect how Peta sees him. They have chemistry and love wins in the end.
This is about accepting a life doing what you love, even if it means doing it in the same small town you grew up in. It is also about following your heart. This is a semi-clean romance with two people who set out to do the right thing but can't fight their attraction. Enjoyable light quick read.
PETA was away on a month long trip with her sister when her Forman at the ranch brakes a hip. He hires Garret to take his place until his hip is back to normal. PETA is sure that she won’t be able to work with the man and Garrett is sure that she is just another worthless woman who is not interested is a ranch. They both are wrong. A most amusing book.
A beautiful Christmas story. I love this small town and the residents. Petra and Garrett are perfect for each other and I enjoyed being a part of their coming together and getting to know the real person, not just the faces they show the world. I will be checking out more from this author and hopefully the characters in this book.
