Single female shifters from all across the country are flocking to the brand new territory in Greenlands, New Hampshire. After all, there's land to be claimed, sexy male shifters lurking behind every towering pine tree, and - death challenges? Apparently, Dakota Sheffield picked the wrong woman to impersonate when she decided to go undercover for a little vacation. Now she's falling hard for Miles Williams, the dominant Alpha Prime of the Fenris pack.
Throw in a pack of feral orphans who can't decide if they want to shank her or adopt her, a new best friend who just may be the death of them all, and a human government determined to see them all fail...and it will be a miracle if she escapes with her hide and her heart intact.
Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.
Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).
When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.
I enjoyed it. It's about what I've come to expect from a St. Clair book. The 'verse is interesting, the friendships and family relationships really work, and there's some funny banter. Unfortunately, the romance is usually the weakest part of a St. Clair book and this is no different. Overall, if I were to compare my feelings for St. Clair romances to a relationship, it's a friendship with bennies. It's just lacking that emotional connection that could really take this relationship to another level.
Shiftily Ever After is a standalone book which introduces us to Dakota, a shifter whose father is trying to mate her off to a cheater who does not love her. In her attempt to escape that fate, she is hides out in a new town and meets Miles, the Alpha Prime there. Instantly he is intrigued by her, but with troubled kids to look out for, a new job, new friends, and new foes, nothing is going to be easy about settling down and making a new future.
I really liked this story. It was a great way to spend an afternoon and a fun new world to enter into. There are some fun secondary characters introduced and this hits all the markers you want to find in a shifter romance. I definitely recommend this to paranormal romance fans.
Miles is the Alpha Prime of the Feris Pack. Dakota doesn't want to mate with the man her father has picked out for her so she assumes a new identity and runs away. She ends up in Feris Pack land where she catches the eye of the alpha Prime. Both have secrets. Dakota ends up with four orphans, friends and finally a mate. Throughout the story, there are constant challenges for both power and love. Once again, Ms St. Clair did not disappoint. Dakota was a strong woman who used her skills to help unite several packs complementing Mile's leadership of the pack. Her secondary characters really add to the story and I look forward to seeing more of them in future stories.
Lovely!! Georgette never ceases to amaze me with her stories and characters. There´s another side of shifters that I hadn´t seen yet on any previous story: Alphas having powerful minds besides some muscles! I mean, I know that we´ve seen healers, or those who can sedate others but project their feelings up to a physical level? That was brand new to me. The love story is pretty cute, and it´s enhanced with the presence of the bunch of cubs that give some tenderness to the whole picture. And let´s not forget the funny best friend Naomi! I was laughing outloud with all those "whacks!" The treacherous fake friend Tina was kind of obvious to me, but maybe I´m just too paranoid. One of the things I liked the most was the second chance that Dakota´s father is having at happiness. Going on His Curvy Mate now, and hoping that soon we can get more stories from this pack!
I loved this fast paced story! The characters were well developed with dialogue and wit that had me laughing out loud quite a few times. The action was fast but the story had a well developed arc that made it easy to read and enjoy. The principal story was intense and clearly mapped out. The fight scenes were detailed as we're the romantic scenes, which were hot as well as descriptive. The fact that Dakota and Miles had to build a friendship before having a relationship gave the book added depth and opportunity to showcase the personalities that were so much fun to read about.
Georgette St. Clair is an decent enough writer– not great, but not the dregs of what Kindle Unlimited has to offer either. Her books are enjoyable because they are comical, light-hearted, and very easy to read. Also, when she has a plus sized heroine, she takes the time to actually describe her body beyond just saying “curvy” or “curvaceous”, which I really appreciate. Yes! Give me a full figure and tell me all about it!
Dakota runs away from her overbearing shifter father only to end up under the thumb of the overbearing (but sexy!) alpha Miles. I liked the worldbuilding– a community of shifters in the wilds of New Hampshire trying to build their own territory
This is such a fantastic storyline! I love how the ladies rally together and find friendship, happiness, and love in a land that’s a law unto itself. The author kept the story fast-paced and intriguing with the twists and turns that turn into betrayal and a HEA that was meant to be. The characters were fantastic with their witty attitude and quirky personalities. This book is a wonderful way to pass several hours and I can’t wait to read the next book.
I felt nothing. No real romance, no relationship building, not much of anything. This is actually the first book from this author I've ever finished. No wonder.
What Is It About: Dakota is being forced into a loveless marriage with a cheater to gain her father more political power. Her friend gives her a false identity to get her to run away. And she runs right into the arms of Miles, the Alpha of Fenris Pack. But apparently her new identity was sent there for a death challenge and to look after her nieces and nephew. Miles gets rid of the death challenge, and tries to woo Dakota. But it's hard when their relationship has started on so many lies, and Dakota still has her father's shadow hanging over her.
What I Liked and Didn't: Since I've given this a kind of meh kind of rating, I'll try and be positive first. I'm a sucker for any book that includes shifters, especially any weird kind of ones so the fact that this includes bears, foxes, and coyotes is right in my ball park. I did like how Dakota acted with the kids, in an attempt to be like the cool aunt but I'm just glad that she didn't stay as their mother. I really did like Dakota's friend (who's name escapes me), the one who attacked a guy who's name I've also forgotten thinking that he was Miles to defend Dakota. God, that entire sentence was a complete mess. Both Dakota and Miles were meh characters. I apologise for using that word a lot but I don't really dislike them, I just don't care so meh. They just seemed so one-dimensional, with no real back-story or (in Miles case) one that's mentioned once and never again. I also don't know if the rules are different in America? But it seemed completely ridiculous that Miles would just say "Hello perfect stranger, even though I don't know you and you have no qualifications, you can be the English school teacher even though I haven't checked you out and you might be a paedophile for all I know." Smart man. The fake identity reveal was very anti-climatic. The deal with Dakota's dad was a surprise; I didn't see it coming and not in a good way. It just came out of nowhere with no previous hints at all.
Final Thoughts: I could have give or taken this book, I think that I have higher expectations because I've previously liked a lot of Miss St. Clair's books. Would I recommend it? Probably not, plenty of other shifter romances come to mind first for recommendations, like Shelly Laurenston's Pride Series. Will I be carrying on the series? I don't think so, I attempted it but it just isn't for me.
Not bad. But I am used to reading shifter stories that the pairs especially wolf shifter do immediately recognize eachother as mates. They don't deny eachother. Or fight the attraction. On both of them. I really love that. But I really liked that the female lead immediately took the time to tell it like it is. That she didn't immediately succumb to his seduction. What I also didn't like was that she was supposed to have alpha powers and yet she sort of caved when the crazy alpha dude took her.
This was a great story. There were several places where I laughed myself silly. I do love a sassy, sarcastic heroine and a hero who is smart enough to appreciate her. Dakota and her new feisty friends have arrived and the Fenris Pack is about to be conquered. Miles Williams and his pack are in for laughs, fights and love 💘
I really loved this book. The author did a wonderful job of portraying the struggles that each character had to face. I hope this is a series so I can visit these characters again.
New beginnings This is an awesome story with lots of action adventure. A love story along with a disconnect and re-connection to family. Some very serious Alpha power happening throughout this book. Well written self-contained story that is worth reading. High praises to the author and a job well done.
Dakota leaves her pack and her father because of a forced mating. She runs to the new Frontier and proceeds to fall for Miles. Betrayed by her friend, she finds herself in the middle of a war.
Miss St. Clair is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors and this new book is another awesome addition to her work. Has everything a good PNR book needs, sexy alpha shifter, strong female and a bunch of wacky characters thrown in. A really great read!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This was and a bit different than her normal stories, and I don’t know if she plans on making it a series or not but I hope so. This starts off with Dakota being forced to mate with a real cheating jerk and her father who’s Alpha Prime of their region turns a blind eye to it. Her dad is different since his mate and Dakota’s mother died years before. He’s indifferent to his daughter. I think he cares about her but he’s let a lot of things take priority over her. Her friend Tina who I don’t get great vibes with helps her escape but it’s the little things she says that makes you think hmmmm. So, she goes to take the place of someone else and sorta takes on her identity. It doesn’t start out well for her especially with the Alpha Prime Miles. He’s a bit arrogant and comes off like an idiot a lot. He likes Dakota/Jamie a lot but doesn’t feel he is relationship material because of who he is and its starting to take its toll on him all the death challenges. So he initially just wants to bed her but she doesn’t want that and she demands respect as well she should. He starts to grow on me though. I will admit there isn’t a whole lot of romance in this. Sex yes but as far as emotions or relationship between these 2 not so much. Its not a bit deal but noticeable considering her other books have a lot of the romantic aspects in it. This does not. They don’t even get together until over half the book is over. She inherits a lot from taking on this woman’s identity including some troubled nieces and nephews who she starts to take care of. Her friend Naomi is a hoot. Lots of different twists are added into this and makes it a well-rounded book even if I wanted a little more relationship development between Dakota and Miles. I will say that her father does come to her rescue when she needs it the most. That was the best part for me at least.
Oh how I love books by Georgette St. Clair. How she comes up with these stories is a real gift I wish for her to never loose. This book is phenomenal but then again all her books are. This is the first in a new series from her, and I can not wait to read more from her.
This book is the new Alpha Prime series. This story if about a young woman who is going to be forced into a marriage with a man that is just nasty. And Dakota’s dad does not seem to care all he seems to want is an alliance with another pack. But she just can not do it. So with help from a friend she escapes to a new territory and impersonates a girl that did not want to go their or so she thought. Along the way she finds she is capable of more then she ever knew. And soo she meets the Alpha Prime or feels him first. Miles is imadiatly drawn to Dakota, but she is not having any of his macho crap. But first she has to get past the pesky problem droped on her. As Miles finds she is the one sent that he will have to kill? But before she meets him she helps a youg girl and her siblings and grows attached to them. Now if she can only keep them all from running away. You will be amazed how she handles that. She also has someone that is out to get her you may get an inkling half way through but it still was quite a shock.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
An interesting new bunch of shifters that need to tell us their stories. An enjoyable read that gives us a real eclectic bunch of good and bad shifters all moving into a new territory and needing to settle in. Things start off rocky and wobble along for a while until a surprise traitor shows their hand at the end. I liked Dakota, she has a lot of gumption and stood up for those weaker than herself, therefore making good friends who stand by her. I also liked the way she handles the cubs, firm but fair with options and consequences. Miles was a bit of an idiot male at first but he grew on me. I really liked all the characters we met who were interesting and all have stories somewhere in their pasts but are making a strong healthy community from new beginnings. I can see some very interesting stories coming along. I really want to read Creels story and see him get a HEA. This is my honest review of this book.
This is a book with heart breaking misunderstandings and misdirection. There are some hard lessons about listening to the wrong person as well as the path to hell being paved with good intentions. Honestly, if my father had said to me some of the things that this main character’s father said to her I would not be nearly as forgiving. If you like Big Beautiful Women that find their forever loves; that like them just as they are; and can forgive a few foibles then this is a book for you. There are no Mary Sue characters here, just a lot of people with a lot of faults. This was quite interesting to read, some compassionate characters, some interesting characters and a surprise twist at the end. There was also some graphic sex I skipped over.
I gave this book five star because it deserves it. This book is good and very funny . I stumbled upon this book , but I have to tell you it is one of the best book I've read , and I love and read a lot . I'm not going to explain the book to you . You have to read it yourself and see what I'm talking about . I have already referred this book 1&2 and the author name to my friends . I've enjoyed the book very much . OH well I'm about to stalked Georgette for the next installment of this series .
