I need to keep her safe. I’d rather keep her down on her knees.
I don’t get attached. I work hard, f**k harder, and can’t ever slow down. I don’t want a normal life and never did.
At least until I’m hired to protect Erica Franklin, niece to the leader of the Irish mob.
I never wanted some sweet, innocent girl getting in my way. But as soon as I see her sexy curves and those pouty lips, all I can think about is Erica down on her knees doing what she was born to do.
She got mixed up with some Mexican cartel a**holes, and now they want her dead. It’s my job to make sure that doesn’t happen.
I’ll keep her safe, all right. I’ll do much more than that, though. I’ll teach her what her body can do, and have her down on all fours begging for more. I’ll show Erica how good it feels to live fast and rough.
When her enemies are all dead at my feet, everyone will know one simple fact:
I enjoy reading Mafia books and this one was ok. April is a brat throughout the whole book...she was upset till she go her way. Arden practically bent over backwards for April because of past bad relationships...a pushover. The writing was too choppy and the story didn't flow well...the story didn't unfold by showing us the story...instead the characters told us too much. Made for a tedious and boring read, at times.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.
At 22, Erica Franklin is a blogger with a diva persona and runs successful makeup tutorial videos on Youtube. Her life is comprised of constant selfies on social media, relishing receiving validation to her life. But Erica’s fairly new relationship with boyfriend, Juan Cabello, has taken a nosedive as he undermines her character leaving her in constant agitation and fear. When Juan takes her to witness a murder she flees to her Uncle Max for protection.
When Max asks Arden to protect Erica, no is not an option for the man he considers family. With a difficult past raised in the foster care system, and painful rejections from past relationships, Arden struggles to form bonds. Erica presents a challenge to Arden, but as they spend time together, the more they learn that they have a common ground. Protecting Erica from the Estrada cartel proves demanding as she tests Arden’s limits. All his attempts to please were endearing, and not so much the alpha bad boy, mafia-type guy. He’s guarded but yearns for a connection, and finally Erica reveals the real person she is. I thought Erica pretty immature at the beginning, but with Arden’s help, she was able to embrace what was important in her life. I was hoping for more of a connection between them. Throw in a betraying bff and a kidnapping, and there was a surprise ending.
Blown is not what I expected, the hot book cover and blurb is a bit misleading. Thought it would be a hot, alpha bad boy with a sizzling romance. Instead it’s a sweet mafia romance with a likable hero and not so likable heroine. There was one scene I felt unbelievable when Erica is dropped off at a hillside, told to hike over it to get to the airport. Really? The writing was okay, the plot moved slowly, very little action until towards the end.
This fast paced mafia read you have Erica a 22 year old social medialite who makes her living feeding off the compliments of on the internet, not having many friends or family she sticks close to her one friend Jess and her boyfriend Juan who she doesn't even like. On a night out, Her and Jess have to go to another place at Juan's request, she sees Jauan kill someone, scared she calls her uncle whom she knows does some shady things but can help her, he sets her up with Arden to protect her, finding that Juan is a lot more dangerous than anticipated, now Arden and Erica will be spending lots of time together, annoyance turns to friendship which turns to lust and may be onto love but will Arden be able to keep her safe?
I liked this fast moving story! The characters were very well developed! I loved Arden here he is this basic hitman and he was still so awesome even considering how many times he had been hurt by women in the past. Erica on the other hand that girl drove me a bit bonkers, couple times I found myself thinking she needs to stop being so whiny and b****y!
Sexy, had some emotional pull, few plot twists, Wit, Love & Romance, little Darkness with a God HEA I found it to be a great afternoon read! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader's Copy of this book
Erica Franklin just wants to go home but her overbearing boyfriend Juan has other ideas. Erica witnesses a murder that freaks her out. So she calls her Uncle Mac for help. Help arrives in the form of Arden as Erica's bodyguard. Tommy Arden respects Mac but he really doesn't want to be saddled with bodyguarding Mac's niece Erica. All that changes with Arden meets Erica. Arden can see that not everything as it appears with Erica. Can Erica get away from Juan? Can Erica trust Arden? Does Arden have feelings for Erica? Your answers await you in Blown.
Spring's writing style lend itself an air of redemption and compassion I've not found in other books. Don't get me wrong I love to read, this is something that just enhances the reading experience. The characters and story were flawed in a good way; compelling; gritty; raw; and complex. I look forward to my next adventure with this author.
copy received for honest review. I was expecting a different type of story. This was not the hard mafia read that the blurb hinted to. It started out like it was going to be full of danger and tension but it never really got there. Arden was not the harden criminal mafia guy. He was kind of sweet and nice. He did form a wrong opinion about Erica but still managed to fall for her really fast. Erica portrayed a happy, media loving princess. She had some hidden issues that she used her media personality to cover. I will say that she was pretty naive for having an uncle that is part of the Irish mob. Although I didn't get the bad alpha mafia man, I was looking for, I still enjoyed the stor
Blown is a steamy, action-packed mafia romance story filled with suspense, murder, danger, the Irish mob, and a tough, sexy, tattooed bad boy hitman. Emma Spring and Marci Fawn give their reads a well-written story with a great plot-line and well-developed characters.

When Erika witnesses a crime committed by her boyfriend, Juan, a cartel member, she had no other choice but to turn to her uncle Mac, a crime boss himself, for protection.
Arden cannot believe his luck, he has been assigned to protect Mac's spoiled, snobby, all about me, niece.
When Erika and Arden both let their shields down to show some of their real shelves, feelings develop. Arden will do whatever it takes to keep Erika safe! Juan will not give up and Erika does not want anyone to get hurt because of her.
Well written story line, action with suspense. I really enjoyed both Arden and Erika's characters once the walls were brought down and the trust formed.
Erica is having a good time at the club, the music coursing through her. But as she is waiting in the long line at the restroom, she thinks about the issues with her boyfriend, Juan. His jealousy and lifestyle is making her uncomfortable and giving her second thoughts about their relationship. She doesn’t like the intimidated, weak person she has become with him, and she needs to figure out a way to safely break up with him. She’s not so sure she can work up the courage! And before she can think about it, Juan is dragging her and her friend, Jessie, to a “party”. A party where he pulls out a gun and murders a man right in front of them!
Erica and Jessie run, and she has no idea who to call except her scary Uncle Mac, leader of the Irish mob, whom she normally tries to avoid! But scary may be what she needs now to protect her from the Estrada Cartel! However, Mac’s security guys don’t want anything to do with protecting her – her spoiled brat, superficial, princess diva reputation is well known. But Arden can’t say no when his boss asks him directly, even though this is the last thing he wants to do.
As arranged, Mac brought Erica to stay with him for safety for an indefinite period of time while he tried to find a resolution with the cartel. She saw the huge, muscled man covered in body tattoos and freaked out, snarling at him and criticizing his living accommodations. He lets her get out all her hostility, then offers to take her to the mall for some clothing. Will she finally trust this man with her life? Can he really keep her safe? What kind of future is she facing now?
It was fun reading the back-and-forth of each chapter to see the characters POV. There was humor watching the agonized trek through the mall from Arden’s perspective, with women and children glaring at him or shrinking away. And Erica is totally oblivious to it all as she drags him from shop to shop. And all of this is going on within the overall tense framework of imminent danger from the cartel thugs. The characters are developed well so that the reader knows them and understands where they are coming from emotionally. I really liked the story and recommend it to others. I voluntarily reviewed the book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
Arden works for Erica's Uncle the Whalen mob. "...when the man that we all have a lot of respect for, asks for protection for his niece against the Estrada Cartel, no one is keen. It's not that we're afraid of that group, although they are known for being pretty ruthless, it's because we've all heard about what Erica Franklin can be like."
Erica makes a living off of social media, blogging and posting makeup tip videos. She portrays herself as spoiled and high maitenance. No one knows her parents gave her money at eighteen to move out. She was put in boarding schools where she never fit in, was bullied and could never do anything right in her parents eyes.
Erica finds herself with Juan who she didn't know was part of the Esteada Cartel and known for how dangerous he was. He started showing his jealousy and meanness to Erica. The final straw was when he had her witness a crime she couldn't get past or be with some that that found it so effortlessly to carry out. That's when she finally reached out to her Uncle Mac for protection and ended up under Arden's care.
Her friend Jessie ends up having to go into hiding as well and ends up being used as a bargaining chip to get to Erica. Will Erica go behind Arden's back to help her friend and put herself in danger again? Will Arden be able to see through her walls she puts up for everyone and see her for the person she truly is? Can she be with someone that lives so differently than she's accustomed to? Is there only attraction because he is protecting her or is she really falling for Arden?
This was a very enjoyable read! I really enjoyed the characters and the story. We have 2 damaged individuals that are trying to make the most of their past but still have remnants that affect their life now. Erica has learned to put up a wall and portrays a put together person but she still has a lot of insecurities that she has started to learn to deal with but not always in the best of ways. Arden is better adjusted and has found a family that works for him even though that family is the Wheelan mob. Arden is not a bad person and has a great heart, he just doesn't know how to interact and have a relationship with women. Arden gets tasked with protecting Erica when she witnesses her (ex) boyfriend murder someone. She called her Uncle for help, who is the leader of the Wheelan mob. Arden and Erica have a connection that shines through even when Erica is not being great. She is hiding behind her b**** wall in order to protect herself but Arden's patience and kindness start bringing that down. I liked the way that they built their relationship and their is plenty of action in this story as well. The sex is explicit and fits into the story. There is a lot more sexual tension between the characters as they try and figure out their situation and what they want. It was a fairly quick read for me. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
Erica is a high profile instagrammer, but despite her popularity, she is actually very self conscious and has very little self esteem. Erica has been trying to break up with her boyfriend Juan, but he manipulates her to stay with him. When he drags her to another club one night and murders a man in cold blood in front of her all Erica can think about is escaping, and her uncle Mac is the only one she thinks can help her. Arden has worked for Mac for a while, he likes the way he's made to feel like family, so when Mac asks him to look after his Niece, Arden can't say no, despite the fact he knows she's some spoilt brat. As they get to know each other, they are drawn to each other, both scared of what that could mean for the future. When Erica tries to save her friend Jessie, reality hurts her more than she ever imagined, and the life she thought she could have slips away.
I absolutely loved this story, it shows us that why we think we know and see isn't always why we think. I bawled my eyes out, nose running and all when Max arrives at Arden's door, I don't want to give anything away, that's all I'm going to see. This is a must read especially if you enjoy Emma's writing, she has excelled.
This is the 3rd book I have read by this author. Our H is Arden and our h is Erica.
Erica is a 22 year old that makes her living running makeup tutorial videos on her youtube channel. She has never gotten the attention from her parents and now uses selfies to get the confidence boost she needs. Her boyfriend, Juan puts her down and wreaks havoc on her nerves. One night while out with him, he takes her to witness a murder. She calls her Uncle Max to protect her.
Arden works for Max and is asked to protect her. Arden has had a hard past, growing up in foster care and never being able to have a bond with anyone. When Max ask him to watch over his niece, Erica Max feels like he can't say no. He has no idea that she is going to be such a diva.
I honestly hated Erica. She is in danger and instead of listening to those trying to protect her, she pitches little fits and pouts. She was a grown woman that acted like a toddle with a tantrum. Arden was wonderful though. I felt for him because of his past.
This wasn't my favorite book of the 3 I have read but I can easily see how this author is becoming better and better. I will be watching for more from her.

Blown: A Bad Boy Mafia Romance by Emma Springs and Marci Fawn. 5 Stars
Great mob involved read.
I enjoyed reading about Arden and Erica. Both have had a hurtful pasts and that is what makes both their stories so unique and wonderful. It's what brings them emotionally together.
Juan is Erica's psycho boyfriend who just witnessed him murdering someone. On the run she calls her uncle for help. Only she doesn't expect him to take her to someone else who will keep her safe from Juan. Hence this is where Arden comes in. Dang he could watch me lol, he's hot. Hiding out with Arden turns out to be something more than she imagined, her true colors just may become known, she's not the bitch everyone thinks she is. Oh and the only friend she has betrays her.
Great all around story. Mature readers 18+, Strong language and sexual scenes
I voluntarily read and reviewed, an Advanced Reader Copy of the book by the authors. I also bought the book. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog
Erica is 22, Arden is 24, who do you think is the mature one between the two?, the man. She might be 22 but acts like a 2 year old spoiled brat, and he enables her so she doesn't have a hissy fit. The internet net is her job, more like being paid to teach girls how makeup will attract attention, cloths are special or hair need to be done this way and treated with such and such to be glossy and what not, and the company's pay her for being their product in her films. DIVA BRAT. Arden might look big and tough but he's not, he's been burned by women and don't trust them with his heart. He is a big pushover for his new assignment, Erica. Very predictable ending, no 'big bang' kind of bad happening, just her ex cartel bf having a tantrum.
I thought with the blurb there will be gritty sex, dirty words and possible bondage but it was all rather softcore romance, with only 1 sex scene.
Erica is a blogger who does makeup tutorials and talks about her life. Unfortunately she hasn't had much love in her life so when she meets Juan she doesn't realize he isn't a very good guy. After her and her friend Jessie witnessed Juan kill someone she turns to her Uncle Mac who is in the mob for help. His solution is to bring her to his friend Arden for safe keeping. Arden is a member of the mob and he mostly does bodyguard duties. He hasn't had the best childhood growing up in foster care and it has led to him being closed off in his relationships. Between the two of them they have a lot of issues that don't make them work but somehow they connect. The book had some parts that were a little slow and it took me awhile to get into but I liked the story. I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Erica is out at the club one night with Jessie. Erica boyfriend Juan his friends are there to. Jaun decides he wants them all to go to a warehouse part, so they all head over. When they get to the party trouble starts and it is enough to send Erica and Jessie running for there lives. Erica runs to her Uncle Mac to help her and he has Arden protect her. This is a very good story. It has many turns in it and keeps you reading till the end. I enjoyed this book and fell in love with Arden and Erica. I did cry very hard to this story it is so touching. I highly recommend this book. It has a little of everything in it. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.
Blown by Emma Spring is a book about choices, about how those choices shape us, about how those choices drive us to or from other choices made, and about change. Emma Spring gives us the story of Erica & Arden. Erica is just a girl who chose the wrong guy and is trying to find a way out. Arden is a guy who can't help but feel that it's him who always make the wrong choices. Now these two are driven together and there's no walking away. It's emotional and sweet, are both of them willing to discard their pasts and shape a future together?

Erica is the niece of the Boss of the Whalen crime family. Unknowingly, she has been living with a vicious member of a Mexican Drug Cartel. When her eyes are opened to his true nature, she runs away and seeks protection from her uncle. He assigns Arden to keep her close and protected. Erica is self absorbed, stuck up, a bitchy prima donna. In the beginning, there is a lot of whining, complaining and shouting on her part. Arden is perplexed on how best to deal with her. Their journey together produces self realization, reveals treachery, faces hard truths and changes their lives. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Four stars.
When Erica sees her boyfriend kill someone, she didn't know how dangerous he was. Going to her Uncle for help, he needs someone to protect his niece. Arden doesn't want the job but wants to please Mac. They are so different but as they get to know each other they realize they have a lot in common. Erica in the beginning really got to me but then you see why she acts the way she does u can understand her better and Arden just wanted to make her happy. Good story even though you know what was gonna happen but how sweet Arden was it was a good read
Blown is a good read. Arden is sweet and caring. He's a little bit of a pushover when it comes to Erica. It threw me a bit because I was expecting him to be a Alpha. I just didn't see that in him. Erica is insecure and come of as a bi*chy brat to cover that up. But it's just us defense mechanism. You grow to like her. This was a good read I just didn't see Arden as a bad boy. I would have liked to see him maybe before he met her to get of feel of him as a bad boy.
I received an Advanced Copy and I'm leaving an honest review.
Erica has a bad boy friend and he is in the cartel and she sees him kill someone so she calls her Uncle and tells him what happened so he gets Arden a bodyguard for the Irish maria and he thinks she is a brat and a diva but he finds out different she just put up walls so her heart does not get hurt but together sparks fly this was a great and awesome read loved how the characters unfolded very nice and hot steamy read exciting story line.
