Chastity I thought I had it all: a new husband, a baby on the way, and a love that was meant to be. At least, everyone kept telling me my life was perfect. When it all came crashing down, I ran. As far as I could. Who'd have thought the one thing to save me would be bucking a cowboy called Wrecker?
Kanen It's lonely at the top. Especially when you come from rock bottom. I gave up on a love that lasts a lifetime. Gold diggers, fame wh*res, I just took what I was offered. At least until I met the girl with the sweet curves and the kind eyes. The one who accepted me for who - and what - I am, not for the fame or the money. The one who might give me my second chance. Or will she run away again?
Bucked is a steamy standalone novel with a HEA ending, a satisfying epilogue, and NO CLIFFHANGERS!
A well-written beautiful, romance story of love and healing, second chances, and heartbreak. It's a story of two broken people searching for the impossible... a love strong enough to put the pieces of their lives back together.

Chastity left her old life in Canada trading it for a new one in Texas. Nicknamed Canada by Kanen or Wrecker, she tries to maintain a low profile, but her over zealous friend Lacey convinces her out of her reservations and gets her an interview as a scantily dressed waitress. Kanen (Wrecker) is a successful rodeo rider...finds her intriguing.
Chastity met Jeffrey in high school, and they prematurely got married, later realising they weren’t in love. There is melancholy devoted to the memory of their unborn baby...not to her late husband, Jeffrey and his empty promises. A fact she later discovers with a letter immersed with his doubts.
Kanen was bullied growing up, made to feel a social outcast because of his Native American heritage and his mother. His father abandoned them forcing his mother to earn her keep by prostituting herself to occasionally have food and for him to buy used running shoes. She soon became addicted and was supporting her habit not their survival.
They discovered oil at a time his mother was dying of Stage 4, untreatable cancer. He can still envision doing that long put-off chore for his Mum when he noticed the ground leaking a bit of shiny blackness. And a little bit more. And more, until eventually they drilled and it practically erupted. It was in a remote location of their property, where nobody ever went, and when they confirmed what it was, it was clear that they would be financially set for life. All from an ignored piece of land. Sometimes riches lie in the most nondescript places.
He wants to share “his vision with Chastity, untainted by the rednecks and children of the rednecks who didn’t have time for me until we struck oil on my mother’s property. Hard to explain to a girl from up north what things were like for me. Just show her the good side, and keep her away from the bad. If that’s possible”.
Lacey has good intentions but doles out ill-advised dating suggestions.
A prime example of inhumanity, is the bigoted, racial slurs, resorting to sabotaging and drugging a bull to fatally harm a human being.
They were awarded money for extensive damages—manslaughter, hate crime and animal cruelty.
I enjoyed this romance ,both characters have had emotional pasts that are still haunting them , but they instantly had chemistry, which you knew was going to ignite and become an emotional love affair with tons of shade coming there way from people wanting them gone. There were a few really hot love scenes and intimate conversations between chastity and Kanen that I loved I didn't really like chastity's friend , she came off as someone trying to make trouble or turn her in the wrong direction on purpose and I'm not a fan of bull riding but the love story won my heart.
Chastity has had a hard life she lost her first love and a baby her husband and baby got killed in a car wreck she was the only one to survive so she moved to Texas to give it a new and fresh start and she swore never to give her heart away again so she met this beautiful handsome hunky smoldering eyes man and found out that he was a rodeo star and she never went to the rodeo or much of anything but her new friend is taking her every where and introducing her to new things Kanen better know Bucked the rodeo star he seems to know how the animal will move and he can stay on the bull for all the time and make record and then he meets this beautiful shy women that there was something about her and they keep meeting so he is going for it. I loved this book it was a great story line and the characters just pull you in and you are cheering for her and him. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Michelle
OK, yes the cover got me! I'm all about judging a book by its cover believe me it's been a rough ride with that attitude and not just with this book. Ah well.
The author lost me with the depiction of the heroine. She comes across as,a,complete bimbo not an innocent. Her big move to Texas from Canada completely clueless that she couldn't work on a tourist visa..really? She moved. Not holidayed. She monologued on about her insurance money and how she could survive for a while on it. Didn't need to work really- so why?
Then she gets to work and although she doesn't need the money allows everyone to tramp her up including wearing high heels that don't fit so she clumsily spills drink over the patrons. Yep, way to get tips. Then after the fight in the restaurant she walks out and manages to burn her feet that badly. Really? I live in a hot country with hot pavements usually your body would have you putting on shoes you are literally holding in your hand rather than give your feet third degree burns. So yeah, bimbo.
She has no direction, her whole purpose in life was to have babies. OK there's not anything wrong with that but to not have skills to look after yourself and said babies if bad things happen? We all need to contribute somehow right? She just seemed so clueless. Which is annoying because I don't want heroines to be so needy and useless.🙃

A good read with interesting characters Don’t understand the negative reviews. I thought this was a great book with just the right amount of everything. Chastity is running from a relationship she thought was good, that turned tragically bad all within a few days. Now alone and not trusting her own heart she leaves Canada and relocates in Texas. Kanen is a champion bull rider that had a rough childhood. His mother was Native American and his white father left when he was young. With his mother being a drug addict and earning money by being a prostitute, plus Kanen being part Indian he faces a lot of bigotry growing up. Now as an adult celebrity bull rider with lots of money he has women falling all over him. He still experiences prejudice by some, and knows that all the women want from him is his money. When Chastity meets Kanen he is driving an old beat up truck and she doesn’t know who he is. She I drawn to him and feels the electricity between them. Kanen sees the hurt in her innocent eyes and is also drawn to her. The two of them come together, but both keep their secrets and insecurities hidden. You will need to read the book to find out what happens when the secrets come out and racism rears its ugly head
Chastity is starting over. After losing her husband and unborn baby to car accident, she has moved to Texas to begin again and its a whole new world compared to Canada. Meeting a bull riding champ was definitely not something she expect let alone having a connection with him. Kanen has never trusted anyone. Growing up being poor and promising his mother that he would be successful, he has never been treated well by anyone unless they knew about his money. When he meets Chastity and falls for her innocence and beauty, has not sure he can fully trust her or himself and just may have to walk away. Can either of these two set aside their issues to really get to know one another and accept the feelings that are there or will they both walk away from a love that could be? I liked this short novella, but almost a little too short for my liking. The author had a good basis to the story but I felt at times I was riding a bull and getting flung from one thought of a character to another. The background of the characters was kind of loose and there wasn't anything of the secondary characters. I felt a little lost at time with who was butting into whose business. The overall story I enjoyed but had some holes. I would give this read three stars. Reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock!
I got this free on InstanFreebie and though I appreciate the author making it available, I'm also very glad I didn't pay for it. The main girl, Chastity *rolls eyes* has a tragic past… Gasp! I know you're shocked, but it's true. She's from Canada, though she doesn't talk like she's from Canada at all. In fact, when speaking of her husband's death, she says, "the surgery didn't take". Seriously? Who says that or thinks that or whatever??? Quite honestly, it was gems like this that didn't even really allow me to finish the book. I stopped after the third chapter, because I try to at least give the author that much of a chance to grab my attention and hold onto it. Unfortunately, Jess Bently did not do that.
True Magic This book was simply amazing and well written. I got so caught up in the story and how it portrayed native American people that I felt blessed to be part myself. Not very many authors deal with native Americans and this one did. Kanen and Canada as he called her made a sad story about heartache and death become something much much more. They both had to overcome so much and to find each other in the end just made thus story whole. I think Jess Bentley did a fantastic job to capture the reader's attention. I look forward to whatever is next. She will continue to surprise us as a reader I think. Wonderful work and I give this book 5 stars.
I loved that this story just wasn't about happily ever after and second chance romances. I see how Chastity really got her white privilege flexed in her face, and she had to face real life issues with a man that's been oppressed his whole life. Kanen had the money, and made a better life for his people with it and that's a commendable respectable man. I'm glad Chastity got her second chance at love, but she still pretty privileged still. Witnessing racism secondhand, and still not having an education or a career to fall back on, but a husband is basically the same position she was in before. I'm glad this is fiction, because you can't survive off love in the real world!
This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it.
Ive Never seen a real Rodeo, in fact the closest I've seen probably from a movie. But I thought the description from the rodeo was great. The scenes captured the excitement of the audience and adrenaline rush from the riders and the dread and fear racing through the girlfriend's mind. A good solid storyline with great characters and plenty of steamy scenes.

Headline: I have voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC copy of Bucked by Jess Bentley. 5 Stars! How could I not love this book!? It has a sexy native, bull-riding cowboy who knows how to treat a woman right. In and out of the bedroom. Kanen sounds like my dream guy. Chasity aka Canada is so genuine and sweet. I adored them together. I will be purchasing this book so I can read it over and over again. I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading!
This book was good. Everything was good but there was just something missing for me. I loved Kanen I thought he was great. Chastity and Kanen were great together but again while it was written well for me I wanted to love it but liked it. Given the choice knowing what I do I would still read it
Chastity is trying to put her past behind her moving to Texas from Canada. Until she meets Kenan, a rich bull rider who can't get enough of her. Can these two be happy with so much going on. Great read. Couldn't put down till I was finished.
Sweet romance, spicy Texas cowboy sex, hard times to good, and a happily ever after
This is a sad but sweet story of two lost and hurting people that happen to find each other and take a chance. It's a well written book with believable characters, some I'm sorry to say, too believable that there are still people out there like this. This book has a bit more plot and meaning in my opinion than a lot the sport romance books I've recently read. I also love a happy ending.

Very good story! Loved the characters and the storyline. Its more of a romance story, rather than a bad boy romance. That said, it still keeps you on the edge of your seat, flipping the pages. Lots of emotions and heat. Would recommend.
When I read the description about this book, I thought it was going to be about a woman that had a husband and he left and took their child. When you find out that Chastity was pregnant and lost both her husband and her baby due to a car accident, it immediately pulls on your heart strings. She moves from Canada to Texas to make a fresh start, away from all the memories, and away from all the pain. When she's out with her friend one day, she runs into a devastatingly handsome southern gentleman. Just a few quick words are exchanged, but they definitely made eyes at each other.
Come to find out that who she thought was a southern gentleman turns out to be a cowboy named Kanen, and he's got a reputation as a ladies man. No matter to Chastity since she doesn't want anything to do with starting a relationship, or really any interactions with the opposite sex after what she went through. When she shows up at a rodeo with her friend to watch Kanen bull ride, she catches his eye afterwards. Now that he's seen her in his domain, Kanen is determined to get to know more about her.
Both Kanen and Chastity have a past loaded with baggage and secrets that they don't want to reveal. But the one thing they have in common is how attracted they are to each other. After they have their first kiss and the sparks fly, there is going to be no keeping them away from one another. But as usual, when something good happens, something bad has to come along to even everything out. For Kanen, it's racism. Kanen has dealt with negativity all his life growing up in the south and being half Native American. For Chastity, it seems like someone has it out for her. But that is not the only drama that our lovers have to deal with, but I'm not revealing what happens!
I really enjoyed how strong the characters were in this book. Jess does a great job with the plot and luring you in from the get go and keeping you hooked throughout. Even though you know there is a HEA, you won't want to miss out on the ride!!
1st book I have read, that is written by Jess. I will be reading more of her books. I was curious to see if the synopsis would say anything about the book having some racial tension? conflict? wanna be sure I say that right ... apparently Kanen is Indian and some of the other folks (characters in the book, the not friendly kind people in this book.) don't approve or like his race or other races in general? Chastity is Canadian, Texas is a ways away from Canada though? Wonder why Texas? I was curious about that? I know her back story, but there are plenty of other states, but I guess Texas is huge, & cowboys are in other states too??! I will say that other people who have read & reviewed this book, feel it was a rushed story? Not sure why? I feel you got to know the main characters Kanen & Chastity very well ... you understand they both have huge back stories & have been dealt some pretty trouble stuff in the past and have made it through those rough and tough times??! Not sure why they felt the way they did? I enjoyed the read. Chastity gets in trouble for working a waitress job, 'cause she is just visiting. I could see more books maybe in a series from other characters in the book coming soon? a pretty lighthearted love story. Must read. Read it in a day, quick read. ( ;
This was the first book I have read by Jess Bentley and it wouldn't be my last that's for sure!
Bucked was fast paced and kept me interested from the start!
Kanen and Charity had a depth to them that I wasn't expecting!
Kanen is part native American and there is an element of racism that he experiences as we read that is really well written.
He has demons from his past and it's Chastity that brings a calm he hasn't been lucky enough to experience before.
Chastity brings her own emotional baggage though, making these two more of an unlikely pair that just ends up working really well in this fast paced book.
I'm not usually down for the cowboy genre but this was a great quick read that was from a different angle with the bull riding side of things that comes with Kanen.
If you are looking for something different that's easy on the eyes and leaves you feeling a little more positive than when you started then this one is the one for you!
I decided to read this book because I rarely read cowboy romances and I needed a change. I really enjoyed this story. It was a quick, well written book. Kanen was my favorite character. He had a tough family life growing up and never felt good enough but he was a caring, unselfish person. Chastity suffered heartbreak and lost everyone she loved and Kanen was just what she needed. He made her believe in love again and Chastity was the one person who loved Kanen unconditionally and could care less about what he could offer her. The H and h fit together perfectly and gave each other a sense of peace and belonging. I would have liked a longer ending to see how their conflict was resolved instead of having it wrapped up in narrative in the epilogue. Overall I really liked this book and would read more by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really good book. I liked the setting in Texas and the southern feel. The bull riding was fun and new for me as a reader. The one thing I absolutely loved more than anything was that the main character, Kanen, is Native American. It was so great and refreshing to have a book with dynamic characters and to talk about the heritage and racism of Native Americans.
I felt an instant connection to Chastity. Her story was so sad and I wanted her to get everything she wanted and deserved. The instant connection between Chastity and Kanen was so sweet and heartwarming. The sexual tension, the tender touches, and the confusion of the feelings brewing in their hearts. It had the sweetest ending ever.
Really enjoyed this book as I am surprised to find that I enjoyed a sweet western romance.
➵aaaaaaaaa➵ Main Character’s Descriptions: Kanen (Wrecker) is a bull rider Chastity (Canada) is newly married with a baby on the way
➵aaaaaaaaa➵ Summary Paragraph: Kanen and Chastity were made for each other. Why? Because they both have a ton of baggage from their pasts. Neither trust easily. Will they learn to trust each other or will it be an exercise in futility I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book ➵aaaaaaaaa➵ What I liked or Didn’t like: This book is well written and full of challenges including racist hatred. It has a HEA and was well worth the time to read.
Chastity (Canada) and Kanen (Wrecker) make a good couple. They meet when she moves to Texas from Canada after her baby and husband are killed in a car accident. He's the most famous bronc riding cowboy in the area, and when he sees Chastity he knows he wants her. But, they have some obstacles to get through if they want their happily ever after, namely her broken heart, and his hardened heart. There are other obstacles like the racism he (as part Native American) faces and how it ultimately affects his career and her short lived waitressing job.
Chastity and Kanen have good chemistry and I really like the premise. It's a bit of insta love, but it works well and the heat between the two is believable.
