***4.5/5***

This will read, for quite some time, as a bad review. It is not but it will seem like it so if you start reading this review finish it.

Let me begin by saying that I do not like femdom stories (they don't excite me), I don't like the secret societies of the absurdly rich angle and I HATE cliff hangers with the fire of a thousand suns...but I liked this book and it has all of the above.

I decided to read this book after the author volunteered to read and review one of mine. This wasn't an ARC exchange, however, I purchased the books (yes I have the sequel, no I haven't read it yet). I saw that this book has gotten some flack for its numerous typos and editing errors but those don't bother me and wouldn't influence my score. Typos happen. That said chatting with RJ on FB would not bias my review either. I'd 1 star it in a heartbeat of I thought it deserved it. So, with all that out of the way, here are the pros and cons (cons first) of Goddess.

The major con here is towards the end. Spoiler free the big reveals are built up well through the story but left me thinking "no, no don't do that" as I read. The twist is something many readers will like, its very human and relatable, but its far too Days of Our Lives for my tastes.

That said it does all but force you to read the sequel and I don't resent that. I don't resent it because of Leila herself. She is a down-to-Earth girl with a relatable personality that makes the story. The book descrption sums up what her deal is so I'll save myself the typing but she handles her dynamic in a fresh and interesting way that kept some relatively cliched plot points from causing me to eye roll amd give up on the book. Leila is a girl you'd love to be friends with and that is very uncommon in the genre.

Finally, this is an erotic tale even though you might forget that in the last 2 chapters. The sex and kink play are fine. I'd have liked more detail amd longer scenes but they will titillate and inspire. One thing to note, however, is that they are written for straight women. Leila's own feminine appeal is seldom emphasized and almost never sexualized. This book won't convert male readers (lol well maybe a few of the submissive ones).

Its a solid read overall and all of my complaints are due to my personal tastes rather than anything wrong with the book as such. Leila comes out of the story in a cliched mess but she's handled all the other cliches with spunky originality so I am hopefull she'll do more of the same in the sequel.

I enjoyed this audiobook very much, it's a strong story with interesting, well developed, characters. While the erotic scenes were well written they are not the focus of this story, this story is about Leilla King's life, not just the erotic moments of her life. I did find the authors writing style to be a bit too formal (especially the dialogue) and a bit wordy. I thought that the amount of detail and the number of adjectives used were a bit extraneous and sometimes rather tedious. I'm sure that some readers will enjoy this attention to detail but it just kind of caused the story to drag in places for me.

Erin Bateman's narration was quite good, although her Canadian pronunciation of certain words was a bit disconcerting since the book is written in the first person voice of Leilla King who is a Los Angeles girl.

While this book is not exactly my cup of tea, I do think it will appeal to many Femdom fans and it is certainly a quality piece of BDSM erotica.

This is a well-written femdom story, but hearing it performed made it exceptional. Erin Bateman did an excellent job with the narration. Though relatively new to narrating audiobooks, she definitely has a flair for it.

WOW

Leila a Domme by night and a executive assistant by day. She's having trouble with her 2 world's when her boss makes her life miserable and she can't do nothing about it. It takes all she got to control herself at work. He's starting to make her life a living hell. She has a little Reprieve with her pet Matthew who gives her what she needs. But even he sees something is off . Her 2 world collide when her boss Gordon shows up at the opening of a club her mentor opens. Then Gordon wants the Goddess to teach him. She sees this a an opportunity to punish him for how he treats her at work. As long as she keeps her identity a secret she thinks she can do it. At first this bothered me until I realized what her turmoil was all about. I can't wait to see if this will be a HEA story. What will happen next bw Gordon Goddess and Mathew. I also loved that we got insight to a Domme, and her insecurities and how she balances everything.

Lovely fantasy

If I was a Domme I would want to model myself as Goddess aka Leila. Although her vanilla life is subservient and she is treated like a servant, her true self is more like royalty. She may not be rich but she is still powerful in her world. This gives her the ability to deal with the rest of her life and especially her boss Gordon.
I felt like this was a bit like 50 Shades but with the poor quiet girl being the dominant while the handsome rich man is the slave. That really appealed to me. Gordon was introduced to the scene by his nemesis, Jason, who is Goddess' mentor. Of course this caused her quite a bit of trauma and turned her world upside down.
I enjoyed their interactions and eventual respect and care. I must read the next book since many questions need to be answered.

I really liked this one, I got so immersed in the story I just had to finish, completely forgetting to socialize.

While it was a good book I felt it was very descriptive, I know, what's there to complain about, it just got too much, the author described the foods the character ate, the dress she wears, the recipe she follows , it was just too much.

I liked the entire premise of the book but it felt as though it ended abruptly. She never confronted Matthew, who I have no idea if he intentionally set out to sabotage Gideon, I thought they were all going to end up as a couple.

I also wish we had seen some of Gideon's POV, his would have been fun to read.

I will be reading more from this author, it's nice to see authors write books about female domination especially when each book I read now has some sort of male domination , it's nice to see a role reversal.

Hot BDSM story. This story was different for me. Any BDSM story I've read has the dominant be a man, but not this book. Goddess is the female dominant.

Leila is personal assistant by day, and Goddess by night. Leila has an explosive relationship with her boss Gordon, as he is always making her life miserable at work. At night Goddess has her faithful pet Matthew to take her frustrations out on. Matthew has deep feelings for Goddess. Gordon engages in play with Godess, they too have feelings grow.

This is a great written story. I truly enjoyed reading a story where the dominant is a female!

I don't know where to begin. This is the first book I have read from R.J Castille and it was referred to me from another reader. There was something captivating with this book that I have not encounter in any of the books I have read in the past. I am an avid reader of extremely erotic novels and novellas with that run gambit from sweet romances to the dark underground of the slavery. Let me assure you this book elicited feelings that I have never had before. There was an intense need to turn the pages to get to the next piece of this story.

The characters are unbelievably lifelike and are down to earth. Not a lot of flash and discreet. We get to meet Leila King, Executive Assistant to Gordon Roth. She lives a double life and struggles in her daily life to keep one step ahead of her demanding boss who constantly complains about her work performance. Don’t let that deter you from picking up this book. In Leila’s secret world, she is called “Goddess” and all that she meets bow at her feet. She has a pet named Matthew who is loyal, obedient and serves her every need. Goddess does not feel love or want it. She rules with an iron fist and demand her pets to serve her every whim.

Meet Mr. Gordon Roth owner and lead attorney at the firm. He is overbearing and a tyrant to work for. No one can live up to his expectations and perform to his satisfaction. He is continuingly telling Leila she is not performing to his standard and after 3 years of working for him he is having trouble getting her up to speed. He is watching her closely and keeping her on edge with fears of losing her job.

Leila received an invitation to the grand opening of The Red Velvet Room. A place her mentor Master Jason created. Master Jason is a pivotal person in Leila’s world and he holds her in the highest regard. At the grand opening Goddess is sent spinning when she spots her overpower boss Gordon Roth sitting at the bar at The Red Velvet Room. That is all I’m going to say. Can one man take on the Goddess and expect to survive or will he unravel everything she has built in her world?

If you are looking for a new spin on dominance, one that is not all male dominated then this book is for you. As I stated earlier this is the first book I have read from R.J Castille and it did not disappoint. I am eager to read the second book so I can see how this all play out. I can honestly say I’m not sure who I am rooting for.

*Warning: spoilers below*

Let me start off by saying FINALLY there is a woman in charge and a man on his knees. So tired of it being the other way around.

Leila is an executive assistant to a douche bag boss, attorney Gordon Roth. He berates her every chance he gets, and why she doesn't stick up for herself I don't know. I totally get needing a job, but one should have some self respect. She finally gets her revenge when her old tutor invites her to a private club and Gordon is one of the patrons. Before long he becomes her new submissive, much to the dismay of her loyal pet, Matthew. Matthew is the perfect man - attractive, attentive, cooks, is a shoulder to cry on, literally (I had a problem with this, b/c no Domme should ever cry in front of her sub), and he will be there at the drop of a hat. He's not only the epitome of a submissive, but he's my ideal man - I am totally team Matthew!

So of course Leila develops feelings for Gordon, b/c why should the nice guy ever win, right? *sigh* When Leila becomes pregnant and goes to tell Gordon the truth, she finds out he already knew who she was, which she tries to figure out. I'm like, Leila, you're a redhead. We're only 2% of the population (this isn't how he found out, but I could have put 2 & 2 together in a second based on the hair alone)

I liked the character development and how I felt like I was in Leila's head most of the time. I already mentioned I liked that it was a Domme/male sub situation, but I also like the descriptions of what she does to them. It's not only detailed, but accurate.

What I didn't like:

1. The asshole (at least seemingly) gets the girl...again. Even after Gordon fucks some random whore to make Leila jealous (really Leila?! You're going to let him get away with this?! Domme/woman the fuck up!)
2. Gordon the douche won't love her as much if the baby isn't his. This is NOT love. When you love a woman you love everything about her, b/c the baby will be half hers anyway, you love it too! What an arrogant piece of shit this guy is. I really wish he would have died. I hope he does in book 2...
3. NEVER. EVER should a man come inside of a woman without permission - ESPECIALLY AS A SUBMISSIVE MAN! Subs should ALWAYS be asking permission of their Dommes. (another reason is that birth control isn't fool proof. I get this is part of the plot, but it's not a freebee or pass for men - isn't this concept the entire reason FOR this book???)

So all in all it was a really good read, I just had a couple of issues with some things.

Goddess

I really loved this story even though I only gave it a 4* rating. It would have earned a 5* but I deducted 1* for the very poor formatting a several editing mistakes. With that aside this was a very interesting story with some unusual names for very know items. But I guess to each their own. I still highly recommend this story if you can get past the horrid formattin.

Ok things I didn't like first:
A. Why does a female dominant need a man to raise her to the level she is at and then be sketchy and manipulative?? How is this okay and they just have a chill relationship. One, it would be more elegant if q woman had taught her what she knows. Two, she has no feelings about the fact that he convinces her to submit to him to learn and then during that is like sorry I couldn't help myself I just had to have sex with you. It was just supposed to be her experiencing somatic pain from implements she was to learn. That's sketchy and manipulative with grey consent. This isn't that kind of book, a Goddess would require the consent be sorted out first. She doesn't comment as to it being hot or what she wanted either, greying it further, it seems like she just tolerated it because he said she needed to submit in order to domme. This really takes away from the character's dominance for me. I agree that it is a good move to experience what you are dishing out but this makes no logical sense why sex had to be part of that without her consent. That could have been omitted from the scene. Frankly, it grosses me out.

B. All her relationships are toxic. I know it's fiction, and obviously I did like the book to rate it for stars...but the whole love between her and Gordon that magically seems to be there also makes no sense. They were playing roles and suddenly they can be vulnerable and real with each other and confess their love. That's not real love. Also he takes a woman to work and has sex with her and has a double standard about it. She for some reason feels like she did one thing wrong to sleep with her other sub basically before Gordon was even here. They never talked about it and he rubbed this other woman in her face like a week before that. This is also so cringy to me that she does not call this out. This guy seems like such a narcissist to me. The other dude is immature and did dangerous shit but he's proven himself at least. Oh well still can't get enough hearing about the drama but I'm not really rooting for any of these relationships to work out.

3.5 stars... this book could’ve done with a proofread. There were so many typos and naming issues it was frustrating to guess/reread a sentence to understand what it was meant to say. Eg. “He was desperately trying to find out what to meet me and when” - what time and when is the same thing.
And is the name of the pony who won the race, Natalia or Natasha. Is it Mistress Liliana or Juliana... all these problems could’ve been fixed with a proofreader.

The overall storyline was good but the amount of errors took away from the story.
