Five year old Kenny lost his first tooth in the middle of the night. The next morning his parents told him tales about how the Tooth Fairy would come and leave behind a surprise. At first he was excited about this prospect but as time went on his excitement slowly began to turn to terror. Who was this tooth fairy? What did she want with his tooth? Why was everyone else afraid of her?
Please note that this is a short story at 9,000 words.
I easily should’ve finished this in one sitting, but I found myself not wanting to pick it up. At the end, it became creepy and I never really thought of what a Tooth Fairy might look like, but now I’ll be thinking of this version. I would’ve preferred the book to include commas because some of the sentences became longwinded. Overall, I’m glad I checked this out and I’ll probably read more from this author in the future.
1 ⭐️ I downloaded the wrong book to my kindle, but read anyway. The writing wasn’t all that good, the story had little to no meaning or substance. I understand it was a short story and I don’t like giving harsh reviews but it just felt like something I would’ve writing in my first year secondary school English class. Lucky only 99p. Well… onto reading baby teeth
While there was an attempt to follow the horror genre, the author stuck too close to the formula and forgot about character. I got nothing from any of the characters.
pretty good little story. wouldn't call it horror but it was definitely a little creepy and eerie. I liked it but wouldn't say it was the best short story I've ever read.
It was a good idea using the tooth fairy for a short horror story. However, it was as scary as it could have been and I felt it was a little anticlimactic.
Maybe I liked this so much because I transitioned from wanting to be the tooth fairy to being deathly scared of her, but either way, it was a decent short story and I’ll be checking out more by johnson.
Also, I liked the writing style. Kenny is in kindergarten, a child. It read as a child would tell the story of his night of terror.
