Oh, baby!

For the first time in her life, adventure reporter Miranda Wilde has a plan that doesn’t involve scaling mountains or swimming with sharks. Miranda is about to do something scarier—she’s about to become a mother. Determined to deliver the news to her unborn baby’s father, Miranda arrives in Swift River to find the rugged resort owner with whom she shared an unexpectedly sexy weekend. Except Carson Swift is out of town—on his honeymoon—leaving his twin brother in charge. It’s all Miranda can do not to fall apart in Cody Swift’s strong arms….

Miranda is the only woman who ever tempted Cody to settle down, which is exactly why he doesn’t reveal that he’s the twin who shared those soul-searing nights with her. Cody knows Miranda needs more than a rough-edged river guide to give her the life she deserves. Then he learns Miranda is carrying a baby—his baby—and he’s ready to stake his claim. But can he prove his heart is in the right place—and that this is one adventure they’re meant to have together, for a lifetime?

Kristina Mathews doesn't remember a time when she didn't have a book in her hand. Or in her head. But it wasn't until she turned forty that she confessed the reason the laundry never made it out of the dryer was because she was busy writing.

While she resigned from teaching with the arrival of her second son, she's remained an educator in some form. As a volunteer, parent club member or para educator, she finds the most satisfaction working with emergent and developing readers, helping foster confidence and a lifelong love of books.

Kristina lives in Northern California with her husband of more than twenty years, two sons and a black lab. A veteran road tripper, amateur renovator and sports fanatic. She hopes to one day travel all 3,073 miles of Highway 50 from Sacramento, CA to Ocean City, MD, replace her carpet with hardwood floors and serve as a “Ball Dudette” for the San Francisco Giants.

Call it a coincidence (or not) but this is the 3rd book I have read with twins being part of the story. I'm just putting it out there but so far so good with all three books.. I wonder if there will be a 4th book? hmmm...
This is the story of Cody Swift - twin brother of Carson (Swept Away) and Miranda Wilde. They met at the Yampa River wherein Cody- posing as Carson at that time- was their river guide. They had a 5 day fling, both agreeing to have fun with each other and walk away once adventure was over. The result of that 5 day fling? Miranda being pregnant. She believes the father of the baby is Carson but little does she know that it was Cody she was hooking up with. And let the games begin!!!
It was a fun, sweet story.. I found Cody to be super sweet despite him not being up front with Miranda of his true identity. Although he did try to tell her who he really was so points for that..
I can't wait to see what else Kristina will bring to the book world!

This review is based on the ARC received from the author and or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

In THIS book, our hero is awesome. He was the antithesis of that in the other book in the series. There were enough mentions of that fact in this book that his behaviors are hardly redeemable. I guess that just shows the caliber of the author if she can flesh out her characters like that.

In Too Deep was a beautiful story which captivates your attention from the very first page.

Miranda finds herself pregnant and feels she needs to inform the father. A fling two months ago has changed the course of her life but little does she realise things are about to get worse. She goes to Swift River to inform Carson about her pregnancy only to find he got married the day before her arrival. Now, she must wait until he returns except there's a little problem, and his name is Cody. Cody is Carson's twin: he's gorgeous, sexy and a playboy.

Cody is shocked to see Miranda, the woman he's been thinking about non stop since meeting her two months ago. Except there's a teeny tiny problem; he told her his name was Carson because he was annoyed with his twin. Can things get any worse?

Will Cody fess up? Will Miranda give into her desires?

I loved the characters; they were warm, funny, and complemented each other beautifully. Cody knew what he wanted from the beginning and pursued Miranda with persistence and determination. Their friendly bantering and flirting was sweet yet entertaining and the moments they shared were full of passion. There were a couple of moments where my heart was either pounding erratically or where I was holding my breath - things got intense and the author captured those moments really well. The book had both characters POVs which was truly insightful as it helped the reader to connect to the characters emotional state of mind. The author captured the characters emotions and fears beautifully throughout.

Miranda is a writer for an outdoor magazine for women. She spent time with one of the owners of a river rafting company one weekend and now she finds out that she's pregnant. She is determined to go to the company and to tell Carson that the baby is his. When she gets to the river rafting office, she meets Cody, his twin brother. The problem is that Carson will be gone for two weeks since he is on his honeymoon! But, you'll just have to read the book to find out exactly what happens. This story is very enjoyable reading and I found Miranda's dilemma to be an interesting twist. In Too Deep is a well written contemporary romance. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

In Too Deep by Kristina Mathews will be released on December 20, 2016 by Kensington Publishing Corp. The egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

Fast paced, well written contemporary romance with a good amount of uniqueness for a secret baby / fake identity romance

In Too Deep by Kristina Mathews is my first read by this author but being a sucker for secret baby and fake identity romances I was immediately drawn to this book and am so glad it didn’t let me down. It’s a fast paced, well written contemporary romance with a good amount of uniqueness to the storyline to make it an intriguing read, particularly if you enjoy a good secret pregnancy / baby or fake identity romance like me.

Cody and Miranda, who tell the book through dual points of views, had a strong chemistry from the very start that only continues to develop as the book evolves and they grow closer, despite secrets being kept by both. Their relationship develops at a relatively fast pace in terms of time period but knowing they previously got to know each other during their fling a couple of weeks before gives the relationship a foundation for the fast developing feelings that develop in the present period over the couple of weeks in which the book is set.

In Too Deep is well written with a good flow and a steady plot from start to finish. The pacing worked well and there were a few twists and turns you don’t see coming in the book. There is some development of the characters in the book, clearly seen through the dual points of views, with a mix of emotions well written by the author to make you feel the difficulties both go through. There is a HEA to make this a standalone read.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

First, a short synopsis of this story. Cody and Miranda met during a river trip at the Yampa River. Cody posed as his twin brother Carson, never telling Miranda who he really was. Their time together was not suppose to last more than that vacation.
Two months after, Miranda tracks down the resort owned by the brothers . Her aim is to tell Carson (really Cody) she is pregnant and nothing else.
Carson is off on his honeymoon and Cody is shocked to see Miranda . He doesn’t tell her who she really met in the trip, and she doesn’t tell Cody, she’s pregnant. The lies went on for most of the book.
I had a problem with this issue. They are not teenagers but almost 30 years old. They should therefore act like adults.
I skipped through some of the pages and finally found the book interesting towards the last 20% of the book.
So, sadly, for me , the author gets points for effort, but not so much for the story and it’s characters.

I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed as solely my own.

Miranda shows up at Swift River Resort to tell the man she slept with 2 months ago that she's pregnant. Only she thinks it's the wrong man.
Cody pretended to be his brother Carson for 6 weeks to get away from it all. Little did he know that the woman he can't get out of his mind is about to drop a figurative bomb in his lap.
You already know right off the bat that Miranda thinks she slept with Carson and that she's pregnant. So, it feels like Cody and Miranda are just killing time before they both confess their secrets. It's sweet how Cody bends over backwards to impress Miranda and frustrating that you know their secrets and they don't!
It was a good story, though. I gave it 4 stars.

Cody honestly doesn't mind waking up to find that his woman has snuck into his bed, "Cody had found his bed occupied by Miranda. She had slipped in beside him in the middle of the night. Only this time, she hadn’t demanded sex. Not that he would have denied her..." Cody can be a patient man at times, but then there are those other times where his curiosity just kills him, “yeah, especially when you were buying fancy underwear.” He was still dying to know what was in that bag. “ But you haven’t shown it to me. It’s like you’re trying to torture me.” I enjoyed this book, I loved Cody.

I really wanted to like this as it sounded great. And it's not that I totally disliked it but it just didn't grab me like I thought it would.
I'm not a huge reader of third person writing but if it's good I'm okay with them. I struggled to begin with but slowly got there with this.
I just felt some parts were not quite believable. Miranda has gone to see who she thinks is Carson to tell him she's pregnant but then goes on a river trail which to me when you are pregnant you shouldn't be going on a raft down rapids no matter how tame they are??? I'm all for still continuing your life when you are expecting but there are some exceptions I think.
There just seemed to be a lot of going backwards and forwards with both of them whether to come clean.
This was the second book in the series and I'm guessing the first didn't have to be read but would have been better to as it's about Carson, Codys twin brother. It was told in both POVs and
In the end it was a nice read.

This is my first book Kristina Mathews and I enjoyed her writing immensely. An outrageous plot idea that was entertaining, sweet, sexy and funny. I had not read book 1 in this series but I want to go back and read that.

Miranda has a hot and steamy, and short-lived, romance that results in an unexpected pregnancy. Tracking down her baby daddy, Miranda is shocked to find that he is presently away on his honeymoon. Startled even more so by his identical twin, Miranda can't fight the attraction she has with Cody/Carson or Carson/Cody- so you get the idea. Hiding out for a brief time and pretending to be his brother SEEMED like a good idea at the time until he can't get the woman he had a brief fling with out of his mind. NOW she is in front of him and thinks his brother was the one who had the fun, chemistry and steamy sex with- how to fix this!

It was a sweet story- loved it!

In too deep is interesting love story between Miranda and Cody. The whole story is one big coincidence that drove Miranda and Cody together. But it is also the story that shows what can deceive led to and it is in nothing good. But in general easy lovely read without exaggerating in erotic scenes with great characters.
