Hooboy... Sonic Live is one of the infamous Sonic stories from the 1990s that hasn't been reprinted. And for good reason. This comic is a disaster. It starts with photos of the writer's children playing Sonic on TV. In Sonic's world, swatbots shoot him and he ends up in an "in-between zone" at the same time as the video game Sonic dies. He ends up pulling the children into the weird zone because reasons, and they have to stop a plot by Robotnik to do... something. And it turns out Sonic the game was based on some strange glimpse into a different dimension that humans were all "wow, we should make a video game based on this!"? This is weird. This is very weird. It plays on a familiar set of scifi tropes, but it doesn't add anything new, and runs roughshod over the normal Sonic lore. Plus the photos don't work well in the comic, and why the hell would Sonic grab some young kids to adventure with him? Sonic Live is unpleasant :l There was one good backstory (the substitute Freedom Fighters which was reprinted in Sonic Select 1). There was also a chapter of that godawful Knuckles quest storyline that at least was drawn by Spaz. Wow. You can definitely skip this one...
