Austin Arrows #2

The Season: Kaufman

Rate this book
Spencer Kaufman

When I signed on to the NHL, I promised to give 150% to the game. I’ve done that.

Little did I know, but they would ask more from me than merely my skill on the ice. The team wanted me to be their captain. It’s an honor, one I’ve done my best to fulfill. Although I can’t take all the credit, I was there to lead when we won the Stanley Cup.

I’m still at the helm now, when we’ve hit rock bottom. I know I have let my fears get in the way. I’ve let down the team, even if they don’t realize what I’ve done.

Now that the new season’s underway, I’m being called out. I deserve it. I can deal with that. It won’t be easy, but I’ll persevere.

What I can’t deal with is her.
She surprised me.
She came out of nowhere and blindsided me.

And there’s one serious issue.

Now that I have her, I refuse to let her go.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.

Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.

This book for me, was a little slow
to start. Once it did, I just loved it.
It is not very often when the author
writes such a great female. I loved
Noelle. She was funny, quirky, and
had a love for life. She was also strong
and independent.

Spencer was your typical alpha male
hockey player, with a big side of sweet.
I loved the interaction between these
two. The author conveyed the feelings
they had for one another with great
dialogue, meaningful scenes, and really
great sex. I felt the connection they had.

I didn't like the Amber aspect of the book.
Amber is an ex that once, 17 yrs ago
broke Spencer's heart. Now, there was
no cheating, and Amber was actually
sweet and likable. I did not understand
why, for a few chapters she had her
own POV. She never pursued Spencer,
and he had no feelings for her, so I
don't understand why she got so much
time in the book. Maybe one day the
author will write her story, but I was
just not interested in her.

I like how Rush and Spencer's story took
place at the same time. We met Rush in
the first book of this series, and I loved
him then, like I love him now.

I will absolutely read the next book in this
series.

I have to say I definitely enjoyed this book a bit more than Rush, it wasn't that I didn't like Rush but I loved Noelle which made this book so much better for me.

Noelle was such a great character, she was spunky, quirky and a complete hoot, she kept me entertained for the entirety of this story. There were a few times I was a little annoyed at her but other than that she has to be one of my favourite characters of Nicole's!

Spencer wasn't what I expected him to be, he was a lot more likeable than and kept me entertained throughout! There were times i got so p!ssed at him that I really wanted to slap him upside his head and tell him to wise up, especially when he got on Ellie’s case and was a complete jerk to her.

While I really did enjoy this book there were a few instances I thought were a little drawn out but they were few and far between!

Nicole’s book's are always ones I can't wait to jump into and devour. Her characters always draw me in and keep me dying to find out whats going to happen with them next. This is a series I cant wait to get more o0f and will be keeping an eye out for the next book.

Dear Universe,

Thank you for allowing Nicole Edwards to share her stories with readers, like me, who can’t get enough of her characters and story lines. The passion that she has for writing and storytelling is clearly expressed in the worlds she creates and in the plot lines she explores, and her alpha males and strong females and the bond that they form allow readers to escape into a multitude of steamy and swoon worthy moments each and every time Edwards she releases a book.

Edwards’ newest series, The Season: Austin Arrows, brings together two of my favorite things – hockey and romance. Since the male characters involved are professional hockey players, the game itself is essential to understand just how much of a commitment it is and what it both gives and takes away from those who play it as well as those who are in a relationship with its participants.

Book 2 is about the captain of the Arrows – Spencer “Optimus” Kaufman and Spencer’s sister’s best friend, Noelle Dexter. The events of book two happen simultaneously with everything that occurred in book one, which adds even more to Ellie and Kingston’s story and allows readers to view their relationship from a new set of eyes. Nicole Edwards set up Spencer and Noelle’s story brilliantly because readers were very aware that something was happening between the two in book one, so there was a foundation that readers were already aware of when it came to Spencer and Noelle’s feelings for each other. Spencer’s ex, Amber, also joined the team in book one, so we knew the tension that existed between them and were definitely interested in seeing what was to come of this reunion after 17 years and one Dear John letter.

I loved Noelle in Rush because she was a straight shooter who always had Ellie’s back and offered support and care each and every time Ellie needed it. In Kaufman, readers get to see another side of Noelle – the side that might seem innocent and sweet but with the right guy turns into quite the kinky sex kitten.

At the beginning of the story, Noelle has a mission, but unbeknownst to her, the Universe is already working on what she needs in her life, and despite the miscommunications and the frustrations that Noelle feels as she tries to read into what the Universe is telling her, Noelle starts to see that the man who she has known for almost her entire life might just be the one who’s meant for her despite the feeling that she’s nothing more than a casual distraction for him.

Nicole Edwards does a great job of making the stars align in a somewhat chaotic way for Spencer and Noelle. Even though they’ve grown up together, Noelle’s never been on Spencer’s radar in a romantic sense, but he definitely sees ALL of her now, and I loved listening to him realize his feelings and attraction to her and working his way through the man he used to be and the one he now wants to be for her.

Noelle is quite the woman; she’s fun, smart, strong, and a little crazy which is exactly why she’s a perfect fit in Spencer’s hectic world of hockey. Many times throughout the story, she grounds him and helps him through events that make him uncomfortable. And he definitely provides Noelle with a string of “Optimus Orgasms,” but he also realizes that what they’re building is way beyond casual; he just has to find the right words/actions to make-up for his lack of communication when they first got together.

Edwards gave readers some insight into who the next couple is in the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens between them, especially since the female has been doing her best to ignore and avoid the hero.

Can I just say how much I loved this book!!! okay I'm done. 4 and a half stars of pure hockey goodness.

kaufman was kind of interesting for me because he wasn't this in your face guy and honestly he felt kind of plain...but then its always the ones you least expect to blow your mind that do... and oh does he :) Noelle was sweet and totally nerdy in a way that you cat help but love the girl. she has this grand plan of what her future looks like but destiny and positive thinking have a totally different story. I loved the back and forth with these characters. it wasn't forced or drawn out but it felt natural. they both had some growing up and letting go to do.

I loved this people in the book and I cant wait to read more! seriously if you have read nothing by this author....you need to :)

I took this book with me on a camping trip so I got further with this than I would have if I'd been at home an able to download something different onto my kindle.

This book could have been better with about 10,000 times more dialogue. Hardly anything happened between the characters but there was reams and reams of first person, present tense internal monologue. Boring!

There was plenty of sex in this book (which I normally like) but in this case it was poorly done, with bad porno 'sex talk'. Sometimes the sex was interrupted by a page of internal monologue on a different topic. Also, this book featured the Blessed Anal Virgin.... the new virgin territory.

3.75 to 4 solid stars.
Meet the main characters:
The heroine Noelle, 34
The hero Spencer, 36/37
Amber - the ex of H, who also has a couple of chapters told from her pov.
I had a short wtf-moment, when I saw her name, but there is no love triangle!
The book told parallel to the 1st one, so we have many repeats. I wish it would be after (so we see more from Ellie and Kingston), but everything was played nice.
Again a cool heroine :-)
My grandmother once told me never to chase a man. She insisted they were like taxie cabs in New York City. If you miss one, another will be along in second. No reason to go running after them.
Little drama, one heavy topic ; no whining, no stupid misunderstandings, but still interesting and captivating.
Hot sex-scenes without vulgarity.
Looking forward to the 3rd book of the series.

This was a slow starter for me. Luckily, it really picks up steam after a bit and I ended up loving the book. I really think my problem with the beginning of this book is that it actually takes place in a parallel timeline to Rush. So even though the view-point is that of Noelle and Spencer instead of Ellie and Kingston, there is still a lot of the same stuff being rehashed. In fact, there are flashbacks of a sort. As I thought about this I realized I would have maybe appreciated and even enjoyed these flashbacks if there had been any significant amount of time between my reading Rush and Kaufman. But I had just finished Rush so it was super repetitive for me. All I can say is maybe give it a month or two between books. Or, if you’re like me and impatient, just hang in there; things really even out less than 25% of the way into the story.

In Rush we get to know Spencer and Noelle on a very surface level…Spencer is kind of serious and a man-whore, Noelle is chipper and nosy. There is so much more to these characters than first meets the eye. I love how snarky and sarcastic Noelle is while still being upbeat and optimistic. And Spencer is pretty serious, but with his role as team captain and various other things going on around him it’s not a surprise. He’s also passionate and caring.

The sexual tension between Noelle and Spencer is amazing. Everything else slips away when they’re together including her inhibitions. In truth, Noelle only has inhibitions because she’s small and it seems everyone else thinks she should be treated with kid-gloves. Once Spencer realizes she can take what he has to offer he doesn’t hold back. And it’s HOT!

Although Noelle’s fears about what she wants in life and what she’s doing in life fall away when she’s with Spencer, she’s a bit neurotic when their play time is over. She tells him they can’t let anyone know what they’re doing yet is miffed when he acts like nothing happened when they’re in public. It seems cliché but it also seems realistic to me. Women (me included) think way too much!

The friendship that slowly takes form between Spencer and his ex-girlfriend Amber is a treat; showing that men and women CAN be friends even if there is a history. They’re both different people now and learn to talk and interact in a way that is comfortable for them. It helped me to like Amber who I was not crazy about in Rush. I look forward to reading her story now.

Nicole Edwards never disappoints me with her books!! I always know that whenever I open a Nicole Edwards' book I am going to get a well written story with complex and well developed characters who are surrounded by a loving and strong family, and that will grab me from page go...and Kaufman met the mark. I absolutely loved Kaufman!! Wow!! I did not think that I would love Kaufman more than I loved Rush, and I loved Rush, the first book in The Season series, but Kaufman completely and totally stole my heart!! I highly suggest reading Rush before reading Kaufman, even though it is a stand alone, but to really enjoy it you should read Rush first, plus, Rush is an excellent read!!

Kaufman, the second book in The Season series about hot, sexy, pure alpha male hockey players finding their happily ever afters, focuses on Spencer Kaufman, the Captain of the Austin Arrows, older brother of Ellie, and best friend to Heath Rush, and Noelle Dexter, Ellie Kaufman's best friend and co-owner of the Penalty Box, both of whom we met in Rush. We had hints of something going on between the Spencer and Noelle in Rush, but we were not really sure. Well, well, well...there was DEFINITELY something going on between these two...something incredibly funny and beautiful and completely unexpected, and I enjoyed every minute of their journey to their HEA. Spencer and Noelle have known each other forever, but have never thought of each other as more than brother and sister until the "Universe" gets involved [yeah, you will have to read Kaufman to understand that reference ;)].

Kaufman will not only have you rooting for Spencer and Noelle's HEA, but it will also tug on your heart strings. Kaufman is not only a love story, but it also deals with some very serious topics, and makes you think about the fact that what a person portrays to the outside world is not always what that person is dealing with on the inside, and that the internal feelings of a person have a much more profound impact on a person and his or her actions. I was deeply moved by the topics that were dealt with in Kaufman. Kaufman also will have you laughing so hard you mightn't be able to catch your breath, and yeah, that laughter is totally courtesy of Noelle. Noelle has to be one of my absolute all time favorite heroines. She is strong, funny, super cute, daring, quirky, and she does not take nonsense from anyone, not even Spencer. She is definitely the type of girl you want in your corner, because you know she will always be there to support you, no matter what, and she will put you in your place when you need that too. Noelle is the perfect match for Spencer. Spencer is used to women falling at feet just because he is Spencer, Captain of the Austin Arrows, and he is the sexy pretty boy of the team, and supremely alpha male!! Now it is time for him to put in some work if he wants to win Noelle's heart, and work he does. I absolutely love Spencer!! Wow!! He is an absolutely terrific hero. He maybe hockey royalty, but he constantly puts others before himself and he gives and loves with all that he is.

Bravo Nicole Edwards on this wonderfully crafted story that completely touched my heart and funny bone, and has now become one of my all time favorite stories of yours. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and whatever else you have planned for us readers.

Although this is the second book in the Austin Arrows series, it can be read as a standalone (but why would you want to miss a minute of Rush!!)

Kaufman runs along the same time line as Rush, so as well as getting Spencer and Noelle's story, we get to see Rush and Ellie's story from the perspective of others, which is a bonus.

Spencer Kaufman is just fiiiiiine. Sure, he is a hockey hottie who could have any woman/puck bunny he wanted, but he is not that kind of man (cue me singing - badly - not that kind of girl by Anastasia ♪ ♫ ♩ ). Did I just show my age there?

Noelle is the girl (well, woman) he has known since they were kids. She is quirky and fun - and is the only one who really sees him.

And holy heck the mother pucking heat between them could melt the ice!

Noelle really is a lucky, lucky woman (and I may have replaced her with myself in this story!)

I ran through the full gamut of emotions with Kaufman - happy tears, sad tears, anger, love, laughter, all wrapped up in a wonderful Nicole Edwards story.

She has hit the puck right into the top shelf with Kaufman, and this has become one of my favourite Nicole Edwards books.... so far!

I can't wait to see which Arrows player we will get next - and wish that we had a proper ice hockey comp here in Australia

Spencer and Noelle's story is the second in the Austin Arrows series. Since it is happening in parallel to Rush's story, there is a bit of overlap between the two books but you don't need to read Rush first.

Spencer has known Noelle for over 20 years and she has been a part of pretty much every major event in his life due to her close friendship with his sister Ellie, but he is just now really noticing her as a woman too. He has always had an affection for the beautiful little pixie who is a little goofy-crazy and always puts a smile on his face, but once the sparks ignite between them, he is completely hooked. Now he just has to convince Noelle that he can be the man she has been seeking in her life for years.

Noelle has been on more first dates than she cares to count but most of them never merited a second chance. So she decided to employ the power of positive thinking after reading a book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and endeavors to let the universe know that she is ready for her HEA. I know that probably sounds a bit weird, and like her family, I had a hard time buying into her line of thinking completely. I totally get the whole positive thinking attitude and can get on board with it but some of the other things she did to let the universe know that she was ready for her future were just plain odd. Anyway, to each their own and all that jazz... moving on!

She and Spencer certainly had no issues in the chemistry department and he was stunned to find out the woman he always thought of as an adorable happy little fairy has a hidden down and dirty side in the bedroom. His own inner dirty talker was more than happy to accommodate her and they all but set the pages on fire when they were together. Of course Noelle's fears and a lack of communication on both their parts threatens to get in the way as her request to keep their relationship a secret starts to wear on Spencer. Add in the reappearance of Spencer's only long term girlfriend who unceremoniously dumped him without an explanation years ago to further complicate matters and things get a little dicey.

While I did like this book overall, it didn't have quite the same pull on my emotions that Rush did when I read it. I will admit to skimming a few times when I got to parts of the story that covered the same ground as the first book, just from a different perspective. It seemed like it took too long to get to a part of the story that was just about Spencer and Noelle, not reliving events I have already experienced in the first book. While Spencer and Noelle were both likeable characters, I have to say Noelle tended to grate on my nerves a bit. For a woman in her 30s, she felt more like a teenager at times rather than coming across as the sassy mischievous sidekick that she seemed to be in Rush. But that could just be the cranky witch in me who gives a side-eye to perpetually perky people and has been operating in a constant mode of sleep deprivation lately so don't put too much weight on it. I am intrigued by the epilogue and I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in this series! 3.5 to 4 stars

5 Stars!

Nicole Edwards will FOREVER be a top three favorite author of mine. I have read almost all the books she has penned to date and each one becomes a new favorite of mine. Honestly, sShe could write a cookbook and I would devour it like it was my last breath. And sports romance tends to be a favorite sub-genre of mine in the romance world so it was no question that I would love and devour this brand new spanking series.

The Season: Kaufman was a sexy, sweet, and fun standalone romance that made my heart warm and left me with a big ol' smile on my face. I loved book one in this series... Rush. But Kaufman took it to a whole new level. I swooned. I smiled. I laughed. I teared up. I swooned some more... than I fell head over heels in love.

Meet Noelle and Spencer... two people who are going to find love in the least likely place. She is his little sister's best friend. He's never seen her as more... until now. She's a little fairy that has wormed her way into his mind... and heart. Now he just has to convince her to take a chance on him... though it may be a risk.

Noelle is compelling the universe to send her... her forever guy. Now if the book and gods will listen, it'll happen. So when Spencer and her have a heated night, she realizes that she could like him a lot, which is dangerous territory. He is a player and isn't into serious relationships. But what Spencer wants... her gets and what he wants is HER.

Noelle and Spencer... man did these two take me on a journey that was welcomed with laughs, fun, steam, and a dash of angst. I fell hard and fast for these two... them finding a sweet spot in my heart that was permanent. Their chemistry and passion.. undeniable and sizzling one hundred percent of the time!

I highly recommend this book.

GINA'S REVIEW
4.5 STARS

I am loving Nicole Edwards Hockey Series!!! This book is SMOKING HOT! The first time that Spencer and Noelle hooked up...*fans self*. Nicole Edwards delivered on the heat in this book! So instead of the "brother best friend' troupe we got the "sister's best friend" . So it was a little different in that aspect but still held that forbidden romance feel.

I really enjoyed the story between Spencer and Noelle. It was fun and flirty and just delectable! With Amber entering the story, I was hoping to read a little more drama. She was a big part of Spencer's past so I would have like to see more tension there. The storyline from the first book intertwines with the storyline of this book. They both take place at the same time, so in this book we do get parts of the first book as well. While, this book can be read as a standalone, you do get spoilers about the first book.

I found the story to be well written, in duel point of views. I loved the little journal entries from Noelle. Not only were they fun to read, but it gave us an deeper insight into Noelle. Overall, this book was fantastic! I'm a big Nicole Edwards fan and she has yet to disappoint! The book is funny, sweet, and oh so hot! I recommend picking this one up!

Kaufman is the second book in the Nicole Edwards’ series The Season. The Season is a sports romance series that follows the lives of the hockey players of the Austin Arrows Team. Each book can be read as a standalone or to increase your reading pleasure as a series. Spencer Kaufman is the Center for the Austin Arrows and Noelle Dexter, is his sister’s best friend. Kaufman spends his time chasing puck bunnies and Noelle is looking for ‘The Universe’ to bring her, the man of her dreams, not just another first date.
Kaufman had all the things you come to expect from a Nicole Edwards’ book, love, family and passion, yet it had a very different feel for me. Kaufman story line runs parallel with the story of Rush, the first book in The Season Series. For me, I would have liked to have seen more of a story line away from Rush’s Story and more of a story about Spencer and Noelle.

This book’s plot runs parallel with Rush’s book. All the little things you had a hint of and wondered about Kaufman and Noelle in Rush’s book, is answered here. It was really interesting to see what was actually going on. It satisfied my curiosity of what was happening with Kaufman and Noelle. Positive thinking has been around for a very long time. If you build it, they will come right!

Hockey is probably the one sport that I actually know and for one of my favorite authors to set a new series around it, is totally awsome. I loved how the two knew each other for years, were friends, and then became more.

I'm disappointed, I mean it was good as always, but I felt like I was reading rush again just in different perspectives. You have Kingston and Ellie who were pretending to be in a relationship but secretly serious. Then spencer and noelle pretending not to be anything but secretly are. This one was behind the senses of what happened with Ellie and Kingston.

At first the inserts on ambers perspective confused me and then they stopped so what was the point of those? Could of lead into her situation just fine without them.

Was basically the same as rush until about the end of the book where it focuses more on them being a couple, and then there is what happened to Amber too.

I always love a good Nicole Edwards read ....
Whats not to love ? Her Characters always ROCK .... her men are always sexy, alpha and make your knees weak ...
This book is very well written and the characters are fantastic. I do wish there wasn't so much of book 1 in book 2, but aside from that, its yet again another hit ....
I cant wait for more from this author

I get the book runs on the same time line as the first book. But the 1st half of the book is basically a recap of the 1st book?!?!? When we sorta get the Spencer and Noelle I did enjoy their story. Not sure of the point or purpose of Amber to this story. But maybe she will get her own book with answers...

Great Austin Arrows Book 2...I really enjoyed Spencer and Noelle's story...she was strong and full of sass...he was talented, struggling to decide what his future would look like and who would be in it...there was lots of push and pull from them both but that enhanced the depth of their feelings...I am really enjoying this series...can't wait for Book 3... Happy Reading!!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

To begin, Kaufman was an excellent addition to the Austin Arrows series. I absolutely loved it. It runs concurrent with Rush, the first book in the series. As such, you can read Kaufman if you haven’t read Rush yet and do so without any issues. With that said, if you plan on reading Rush, you’re going to want to read it before reading Kaufman to avoid spoilers because Spencer and Noelle are very involved in the goings on in book one. If you’re like me and have already read Rush, you might be rather surprised to discover just what Noelle and Spencer were getting up to while Ellie and Rush’s drama was playing out.

Being as Noelle is Ellie’s business partner and co-owner of the Penalty Box, and has been her best friend for close to 20 years, Spencer has known her just as long. But he’s never really “noticed” her in that way – she’s always been his sister’s best friend, and thankfully he’s never considered her to be like a sister (that would have been creepy). Fortunately for Noelle, that’s all about to change and she owes it all to The Secret. I kid you not, Noelle has a refreshing approach to life and appeals to the Universe regularly (and sometimes quite hilariously) to help her find happiness. While Noelle’s approach may come off as ridiculous to some, I had a friend who tried to utilize the ideals set out in The Secret, but he wasn’t as committed to it as Noelle (nor as successful) and I found this aspect of the story to be particularly endearing. While I’m not sure how much faith I put into it (then or now), I love that Spencer never ridiculed her for it, teased her a little maybe, but never tried to make her feel like an idiot. Yet even as they both professed that they didn’t want a relationship, that they were worried that their bedroom gymnastics could potentially harm the friendship they had, neither could resist the other. That’s how intense the chemistry was between them once the blinders were off. Without going into detail, so as not to spoil either book, Noelle and Spencer did not find a smooth path to travel as their non-relationship relationship progressed, but I wouldn’t expect it to either. Yet even as Edwards includes elements in the story that had me wondering how it was going to play out, I knew in the end it would all work out as it should because the author never fails to deliver.

One of the things I liked about Kaufman, but that also confused me in the beginning, is that part of the story is told from Amber’s point of view. Amber is Spencer’s high school girlfriend who broke his heart and caused him to swear off relationships, and she also happens to be the team’s new assistant director of media relations. Having parts of the book told from her perspective had me questioning who Spencer was destined to be with, until it became clear why she was narrating as well. Having Amber’s perspective added layers to Spencer’s character and laid some rather scary groundwork for a future installment in the series. However, I don’t think Amber will be the one to find love next – I think that honor is being bestowed upon the team’s newest arrival, Heath Rush. Oh, yes, Kingston’s brother and it looks like he already has his sights set on someone who will make for an interesting test of wills. Kaufman is yet another Nicole Edwards hit and an excellent addition to the Austin Arrows series.

For those of you who haven't met Nicole Edwards Hockey Hotties your in for a treat Kauffman is the second book to release and while these can be read as standalones I urge you to read RUSH first as there are a chain of events that happen in Rush and we get to see what happened and how it all played out now in Kauffman.

Kauffman (Spencer) is Captain of the Austin Arrows Hockey Team, he's also known as Optimus out on the ice. The Austin Arrows have been summoned by their manager to improve their public image and help work out more with the charities this team support so when he's asked to attend an event in raising awareness on suicide he needs a date. Spencer hasn't dated in over 17 years when his then girlfriend dumped him by voicemail but that's just another thing for Spencer to deal with when she becomes part of the Austin Arrows Public Relations Team so with this in mind and his best friend taking Spencer's sister he asks Noelle Dexter who happens to be his sister's best friend and business partner these have known each other years so shouldn't be a problem but why do things seem so tense between them.

Noelle Dexter by some chance is still single and has started making positive steps towards changing this only her family see it as her pretending to have a man in her life, no one understands what she's going through her best friend has her own drama and Noelle doesn't want to burden her, so when Spencer asks her to this charity event she jumps at the chance only to happy to support her best friends brother and after all her best friend will be there so no big deal.

So what happens when you add in that sizzling chemistry that seems to be brewing between Spencer and Noelle will they cross that boundary of friends, will they have a night to get it out of their system so to speak or will it flourish into something more well that's where your going to have to get the book and find out.

I personally love all Nicole's books and cannot wait for the next to come out, she keeps you guessing, intrigued for more, laughing and even crying at times but then add in the hotness factor and we all need a cold shower.

4.5 Stars

I love hockey and I love Nicole Edwards! #hockeyhottie is so very true for Spencer’s story, oh he is something special! I was so excited about Spencer and Noelle and Nicole Edwards did not disappoint!

I adore Noelle! I already liked her in Ellie’s book, but really getting to know her in this book, oh she’s just fantastic! She’s quirky and funny and just such a big personality! She’s strong too, a woman who knows what she wants and she certainly doesn’t take crap from people. And then there’s Spencer, oh my, he’s one hell of a man! He is the team captain, but with that comes some responsibilities he’s not a huge fan of, one of those being public events, he’s not a fan of crowds. (I could totally relate to him in these situations!) He also now has to deal with Amber, the new PR person, who just happens to be his ex, the girl that broke his heart.

This story hit all the marks for me, there is sizzling chemistry, very touching and funny at times too. The characters are fantastic and well developed and I loved seeing this story unfold. I also enjoyed that it ran concurrent with Rush’s story, it was fun to see this new side of their story too. I loved Spencer and Noelle and I was rooting for them all along, and while they are ridiculously hot between the sheets, there is so much more to them and their relationship.

Hockey and hot men with amazing hearts – Nicole Edwards does it like no one else! I absolutely loved this story and fell in love with Spencer and can’t wait to see what is next!

MY REVIEW
For some reason when i started this book i expected events to happen after the previous book Rush, but upon reading i discovered that the time line was set along side the events in Rush which threw me a little but once i go into it i found it easy to follow. I would suggest you read Rush first.
I adored Noelle she is a strong feisty woman that is not afraid to speak her mind, she is the kind of character you wish was one of your friends. Spencer is a super sexy and once he sets his sights on Noelle hes on a mission.
Noelle has a quirky slightly eccentric personality and i loved the fact that Spencer just went with it, he accepted her for her.
I am not a hockey, its not big in the UK, but this series makes me think we Brits are missing out!
I really liked the fact that Spencer never gave up in his pursuit of Noelle even when she was trying to block up in his way, that and being a great support and friend to his ex when she really needed someone. His character is a really good guy.
The plot, characters and the writing of this book are fantastic, you get so immersed in the story time just flies by.
Another wonderful addition to the Arrows series and a great book from the greatness that is Nicole Edwards.

Spencer Kaufman is the captain of the Austin Arrows hockey team, best friend of Kingston Rush and brother to Ellie Kaufman, co-owner of the Penalty Box. During his first year in college, his girlfriend dumped him and ever since then (he's 36 now) he's been determined to never love anyone again. Noelle co-owns the Penalty Box with Ellie and has known Spencer for most of her life. She's had bad luck in dating and recently read The Secret, a book that gave instructions on how to have the universe give you want you want. She wants to find a good man and settle down, so she starts making room in her life and her apartment for him - a place setting at the table, a toothbrush in the bathroom, room in the closet for his clothes, etc. Seems the universe isn't quite listening when she and Spencer all of a sudden notice each other as something other than friends/pseudo-siblings. I loved Noelle! I liked Spencer but, even though the book was really long, I don't feel like his issues were really addressed. This book overlaps the first book about Kingston and Ellie so I think you can read either one first. There were plenty of hot and sexy times and interesting supporting characters with set-ups for future books. Fun read!

I was given an ARC of Kaufman in exchange for an honest review. Nicole Edwards has done it again! Another 5 star read! If you haven't read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne you should do so before you read this book - it's a great book on it's own and although not having read it will not detract from your enjoyment but reading it will enhance your enjoyment and understanding of Noelle in the story. I enjoyed how this story was told from the different character points of view. The characters were well developed and it was interesting how the story runs timeline wise concurrent with Rush the first Austin Arrows book. That said, you do not have to read Rush to love Kaufman but if you have the time do, you'll like it and it will provide some background for this book. I am not a hockey fan but darn if this series doesn't make me think I'm missing out! I may have to check out a few games this season. The book was plenty hot and had many great moments, some funny, some touching. And of course, it's an attention holding storyline. I didn't want to put it down and although I loved the conclusion it's one of those books I was sorry to see end because I enjoyed it so much! Thanks Nicole for giving us characters we can love!

Review of Kaufman: The Season (Austin Arrows Book 2) by Nicole Edwards

I have been looking forward to the story of Spencer and Noelle ever since I read Rush. You could feel the sparks from them even in someone else’s story.

Spencer Kaufman is the team captain of the Austin Arrows and he’s best friends with Rush. Noelle Dexter is Ellie’s bestie…you know, Spencer’s sister. These two have known each other for years, and yet never really looked at each other “that” way. However, once those blinders come off, you start to see things and people differently. And boy oh boy, do they heat things up after that! Holy ice melting hotness!

I loved Spencer and his dirty talking ways, but more than that I absolutely adored Noelle! She was smart, sexy, sassy, and always had a smile on her face. Her positive outlook on life in general was a pleasure to read, and her journal entries had me laughing at times.

I give Kaufman 5 stars!

*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

No cliffhanger
Standalone though part of a larger series
Told from both POVs (Also a few chapters from a third POV)
No major editing issues

Having read Rush I couldn't wait for this book to come out. While it isn't necessary since they are actually playing out at the same time you have the benefit of some of the story overlapping to help give you context as to when certain things are taking place.

Spencer is the captain of the Austin Arrows. He is also Ellie's big brother. You get to know him a bit in the first book. He can be a harda** when he wants to be. He feels protective over his sister and often puts his foot in his mouth where she is concerned.

Noelle is Ellie's best friend. She has know Ellie and Spencer for most of her life. She is free spirited, believes that if you put good vibes out into the universe it will reward you and is basically just an all around loon.

For years these two have know each other and never thought twice about what could be, but then fate ( or maybe the universe) steps in and hilarity and holy smokes hotness ensues.

This book has some very hot and heavy scenes in it which I really enjoyed, but it also dealt with some very real situations like domestic abuse.

As always this author has a way of drawing you in and making you fall in love with the characters. I couldn't put this book down and thought it was even better than the first in the series.

A must read!
