Sophie Saterlee has made it her mission to get her life together. Leaving behind an abusive relationship, she's bartending her way through a psychology degree. An invitation to a tea leaf reading party sounds like exactly the kind of distraction Sophie needs. To survive it, Sophie must forge uncomfortable alliances with arrogant Donovan and mysterious Caine. One of them is tied to her past, and the other fills her present. Both men might hold the key to her uncertain future.
S.J. Cairns creates paranormal romance fantasy from her hometown in Southern Ontario, Canada. When S.J is not plugging away at her laptop on her comfy couch, you can find her chasing around her three-year-old daughter alongside her husband of over twenty years or working in true chaos at local homeless shelters and anti-human trafficking safe house.
I liked the character, I liked the contemporary feel, and the supporting characters kept enough oomph to keep the book moving at a good pace. There is a possibility of a love triangle - and I am in loathing if this happens...
Soul Discovery is a great debut novel from new writer SJ Cairns. Filled with interesting characters, the story moves from the everyday world to one filled with magic and nightmares. The protagonist, Sophie Saterlee, is a straight-talking woman, street-smart, and savvy. The harder she struggles to take control of her life, the further she seems to get drawn into this other, unexpected world. Undaunted, Sophie steps right into it as she tries to rid herself of a recurring nightmare. SJ Cairns' writing is a great balance of darkness and humor, not scared to take the reader into the murkier areas of people's emotions, but never to linger any more than is needed. Sophie is a fantastic character, well drawn and fully realized, and, despite her situation, there's never a sense that she's not in control of her own life. I recommend this book to any fans of paranormal romance, magic, witches, and pugs. (Look out for Bosco the Pug...a star in the making)
This is a great story. The characters are fun and lovable. The storyline is great, even if the characters were poorly defined the storyline would make this book well worth your time. Thankfully the characters and the storyline are great, resulting in this being a very well written book. Great Read!!!
I'll preface by saying I haven't read Magic books since Harry Potter. It was a bit hard for me to adjust from the genres I have been reading, but once things got going, I really enjoyed it. The relationship development was good, as was most of the character development, too. The perspective changes were interesting, though Kims perspective might not have been very necessary, IMO. There were enough twists and turns to keep things interesting, and the impending love triangle has me on my toes and ready to read the next book. My only thought was that the end would go differently in that Loring would have more involvement while Sophie was trying to save Caine in the dream. I thought he would come out as Cole or similar, so I'm kind of left feeling a bit empty with his premature introduction. I'll keep reading to find out!

Book started off strong, but then things just started happening for the sake of them happening. I am all for love at first sight and all that but one minute this girl is deathly afraid of this person and the next she is madly in love with him. Too many things happen in this book with no explanation or reason. It is a good start and overall the story isn't bad, but not everything made sense.
Wow this book was amazing twists and turns a girl and her neighbour her neighbour asks if she would like to come to a Covent with her Palm reading ect she is happy to so that her nightmare stays away for a bit but what she finds changes everything
