Do Not Disturb by Mary Billiter a fab four-star read. This is the first book in the Resort Romances series and the first book by this author I have read, and I hope it won’t be the last as Mary Billiter writes with a lightness that you don’t come across often. The characters in this book face difficult circumstances but instead of letting them get bogged down, she makes them fight it and become stronger and more rounded as characters. There is a romance to the story but it’s not the be all and end all of the writing, there is a great underlying story that will take you away and have you wishing you were at the resort relaxing and enjoying yourself. This author has a way with words that you can’t help but be captivated and enjoy the real story, it was refreshing that the main character Katie was so strong but also a little bit of a klutz, she had a great roundness to her character, this roundness enabled her to bounce back when needed. If you are looking for an easy read, that has a great story and some romance isn’t too over the top then this is the book for you.
I won this book in a giveaway and was very excited to read it. At first I wasn't sure what I thought it started off semi slow however once I got past the first chapter it really got moving and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Katie Flanagan is a very relatable character, early twenties and not quite settled into living as an adult yet. She goes to a hiring event at a new hotel because she needs to pay for her new car and wants to move out on her own. Katie starts off rather immature and insecure. Her character grows significantly through the book and in such a natural progression that it is so relatable and realistic.
The hotel Katie works for doesn't really appreciate appreciate its employees and makes decisions based off of executives receiving a bonus such as keeping a large portion of their employees at 39 hours so that they are still considered part time and benefits don't have to be paid. I really loved this storyline as it is such a relatable occurrence in today's world.
Mary Billiter did a fantastic job with the hotel story and also twisting in the love stories. I can't wait to read more from this author as she is very skilled in creating relatable characters with problems that are also incredibly relatable.
This was the first book that I've read by Mary Billiter, and it certainly won't be the last. This is book 1 of a series, and it was so refreshing to read a lighthearted book. The story was fun and sassy from page one. Katie is one of these girls that is clumsy and everything seems to happen to her, until she gets a job at this new hotel on the waterfront in OC. She thinks she screws her life up, but all isn't as it seems. She becomes the mouth for the hotel staff and eventually all is well. I like Katie's character and I was cheering for her and Bogart. They're perfect together. I have only missed giving this book 5 stars, because O would have loved more of the lie and chemistry from her relationship with Bogart, and a little less on the hotel issues. However, it didn't take anything away from the story, because that was only my preference. I would recommend this book to anyone and I look forward to reading the next book.
Katie, along with many others, is in line hoping for an interview, and employment, at The Waterfront Point Resort. While waiting, she can't help but notice the hazel eyed hottie, Tim, also know as TJ, behind her. As the ever hopeful applicants are organized into groups, Katie saves the day when she promptly steps in for a tongue tied fellow group member and wows the Resort employees with her fast thinking and illustrative descriptions of her group. However, she herself becomes frozen when asked to expound upon her own abilities and interests. Thankfully, Chris, also known as Bogart, steps up and supports her. Katie can't help but be thankful for his help and the two become friends with a side of attraction.
As Katie and her group get a celebratory drink after being hired, it doesn't take long for it to become noticeable that TJ has his eye on someone...and it isn't Katie. Though Katie sees this, she can't quite let go of her attraction to him, and misses the attention being paid to her by Bogart, and a series of events, okay, liquor, it was a series of shots, leads to events that end in humiliation and injury for Katie. All in time to start her new job on Monday.
While Katie is enjoying her new job, she accidentally comes across some confidental information the likes of which impact her and other employees and she decides she needs to bring attention to it. But can she go through with it or will someone else beat her to it?
Will Katie, and the others, be able to keep their jobs? Who will be the love of Katie's life? Is it Bogart? Will he help Katie realize he's everything she needs, whether she admits it or not? Or will she take a chance on TJ, believing their chemistry will lead to more? Can Katie achieve the professional success she needs to allow her to be financially independent from her parents? Will Katie get a HEA? Who will it include? Or did she miss her chance at happiness?

* I received an ebook from the author but that in no way affects my review, opinions or rating of this book. *
This is my first book by this author, but it will not be my last. The author weaves a tale that is one part romance and one part adventure...the reader is able to predict some of the plot as the twists and turns don't distract the reader from what they see happening. The author's writing style flows at a break neck pace and before the reader realizes it, the story is over. The reader is both upset that the book has ended but at the same time wants to know what ultimately happens to Katie and her "detective" ways.
Katie is in the front of the line for a mass hiring at the newest resort in OC and while there she meets a group of people that become her team. The group is hired and the sparks fly, but sometimes sparks can lead to fire...and fire isn't always the best thing. Katie has to grow up quickly in this story to show the reader that she has matured and that she is able to carry the story. I rated this book a 4 star instead of a 5 because some of the story is just a bit too unbelievable to the reader, for instance, when Katie's car needs repaired she leaves it with an almost "ex" boyfriend for months, while driving his truck...this just isn't realistic to the reader. I felt like some things just needed to be changed a bit.
Overall this was a good read and I will be reading more from this author in the future! I enjoyed the characters and their personalities as well as the author's writing style. Add this to your TBR list and sit back and enjoy! You will laugh, yell, and shake your head in frustration while reading it, but it is well worth it!

Do Not Disturb Mary Billiter 5 out of 5 stars Do Not Disturb by Mary Billiter is the first book in the Resort Romances Series. It was an amazing read that not only felt like I was right there with the characters but it was written amazingly. I not only laughed but some of the scenes she wrote had me laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. The emotions in this book are what drew me in and why I couldn’t put the book down. Katie is standing in line waiting for the interviews to start for the new hotel opening, Waterfront Point Resort. The head guy makes them all count off to groups of 10 and Katie not only gets one hot guy but 2 in her group. TJ and Chris and both make her feel something different. My favorite quote from TJ about what makes a woman attractive would be: “The way a woman carries herself. She could be three hundred pounds, but if she walks into a room as if she owns it, with her stride and confidence, she’s the one all the guys are looking at. She finds herself in a predicament when she sees a memo sent out to managers that states they will be cutting hours etc for the part time people. What she didn’t expect when this document was made knowledge to everyone was for people to band together to try and fix this issue. But she is offered a full time job that will give her the independence she needs. Can she pass that up to try and save everyone else? Katie is a fantastic character who I felt I could relate to with the lack of confidence she holds for herself but she is smart and funny. She also loves to take care of people or save them. She has a great family who is supportive of her and cares a lot about each other. Will she be able to figure out which guy is the one for her? Can she save all those who work for the hotel and ensure they get what they deserve? I highly recommend reading this book to find out you wont be disappointed.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it. I absolutely love romance stories but this also has some comedy. I love how the girl gets the guy. She is the one that saves him. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this unique story.
Katie Flanagan is still living with her parents and now she wants to make a life on her own. She finds out a luxury beachfront hotel is doing a mass hiring. Katie is so excited she is one of the first ones there. She is very smart woman that knows her strengths. Katie later finds out that she got the job. She is so excited about her new job. Katie quickly notices that there are two hot men that were also hired. She knows one is her type and they would be perfect together but the other guy also pulls at her heartstrings. Katie accidentally finds some documents that can change her life. She finds out that she needs to speak out about this change. Katie starts to write what is in her heart but does she cross the line? Will Katie find something more than just a new job?
This story was amazing. The storyline has it all romance, comedy, and forgiveness. You will fall in love with these characters right from the start. Katie is incredibly smart but she also has some sas which I loved. The things she says will make you laugh. The men Bogart and T.J. are total opposites but they both will make you swoon. Bogart is a gentleman that really cares for Katie. TJ. is gorgeous but he is full of himself. He will grow on you in the end. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author ended this unique story in the perfect way. I hope we get to read more about T.J.’s story. I will be reading more from this author from now on.
Do Not Disturb is the first book in the Resort Romances series by Mary Billiter. The series is made up of standalone stories that are set in connected resorts, and centres on a different ‘couple’ in each book. I started this series a few books in and liked it so much that I went back to read all the other instalments that had been released. So, even though this is book one, I ended up reading all the other books before getting to this one. ‘Do Not Disturb” is where the series started, and I think it is a great way to launch the series. But, like me, you could start anywhere in the series and not feel like you have missed a thing. This story focuses on Katie Flannagan, who is part of a mass hiring at a new luxury resort. She has a lot riding on this job, and she’s excited to start. But when she discovers a document that could put her job and many others in peril, she is determined to find a way to stop that from happening. This places a lot of pressure and responsibility on her shoulders, and she soon finds herself in the centre of a storm. Will she be able to face the storm and withstand everything? What about the romance factor- two hot guys, and a choice to make? What will she do? As expected from Ms. Billiter, the story is really well written, interesting, and believable. Her characters are fantastic, fully realised and endearing. I’m am really looking forward to more captivating stories from Ms. Billiter!!
Do Not Disturb by Mary Billiter is the first installment of the Resort Romances Series. It is a romantic, contemporary romance Katie and Chris a.k.a. Bogart. I must say, I was intrigued from the beginning with this story. Katie Flanagan is my spirit animal! She has sass to boot and also brains. Being presented with a difficult situation at work, she uses her journalistic talents and gathers every one to help solve the issue. Falling in love was the least of her worries, but it didn’t hurt. I really loved this story and the all the characters that helped define the main character, Katie. Cannot wait to read the second book in the series.
I love that the story has moxie from the get go - rather Katie sure does (and keeps it up the whole way through)! Billiter crafts a fun, smart, and spunky story that would be a great read while at a resort or wishing you were there. Can't wait to read more in the Resort Romances series!
It's very rare for me to abandon a book, especially to get halfway through and then abandon it, but I kept promising myself it was going to get better and it never did. Maybe I'm 40 years too old for it but I found all the characters to be shallow and irrational. Not my cup of tea at all.
Do Not Disturb (Resort Romances Book 1) By: Mary Billiter 5 out of 5 stars
The story Do Not Disturb (Resort Romances Book 1) by Mary Billiter is a contemporary romantic comedy book. This is the second book that I have read by the author and I have found that I love the way she writes and also the characters that she has created. In this story, she tells of a very real situation that could happen in any workplace and creates a character that has the opportunity to confront the issue head-on and help initiate change. Will Katie Flanagan stand up and be the voice for so many that are being treated unfairly? I really loved the character of Katie Flanagan. She is smart, sassy, independent, and when called upon she can think fast on her feet. There is, however, one subject that Katie is not as confident in. That is the subject of love and relationships. She has the attention of two guys and is faced with the question of who to choose. There is the one that makes her weak in the knees and unable to clearly speak when she is around him and the other has her attention however she sometimes gets mixed messages from him. Who will be the one that Katie gives her heart to? This story also has secondary characters that are friends, co-workers, and family of Katie’s. I enjoyed reading about them as well. This is an author in which I will closely follow to find out what she writes next. If you are looking for a story that you can get lost in with characters that you can relate to this is the book for you!
This was a cute story the beginning had me sucked in and cracking up. I wish it would have continued with the same humor throughout but unfortunately some parts seemed to drag on and had me losing interest but the relationship between Katie and Chris kept pulling me back in. The chemistry between them was excellent, I just wish thier would have been more scenes between them! Cute atoey overall and I am excited to read the next one.
The book started very slowly with so much detail about a job interview and a hangover that did nothing except delay the start of the story. I felt very little connection between Katie and Bogart and I thought the whole situation with TJ was just thrown in to satisfy the readers need for conflict rather than adding anything to the story. In fact, I think it made the story worse because it made Katie appear shallow and fickle and weak. Sorry, but I just didn't get it.
Do Not Disturb is book 1 in the resort romance series, from Mary Billiter. These books can be read as a stand-alone but for the better experience I read as part of a series and in order. This is my first book from Author Mary Billiter and won’t be my last, she has really shown me her incredible writing style and captivating storylines that really hook you from the get go. I also couldn’t put this read down due to wanting to find out what the resolution was for the main point of this read. I didn’t want to miss what the outcome could be for all involved, and believe me more were involved than I ever though would be.
This book was amazing first read that I was unable to put down and had me hooked from the first page. The characters in this book were captivating to read and loved everything about them. They were real and face issues that were real and really made an impact to make you as the reader stop and think. I’ve been happy, sad, hopeful, nervous and frustrated all while reading this book. I’ve also laughed, the humour that is within this book whether directed at Katie, or what Katie has done or the witty back and forth she has with everyone, Katie continually becomes an amazing character that I’m so glad I got to read. We have faced ups and downs, heartache, self-discovery, and a chance at something to really make a difference with others. This book started out as having three main characters, but that slowly changed as the dynamic between Our two intriguing and brilliant characters Katie & Bogart.
Even before they both accepted their connection I loved the chemistry that these two characters had, their relationship was real, their connection was real, their trust was real. They had passion, humour and wit. They faced issues together that ultimately could tear them apart of make them stronger, and after some hard realisation they both realise that their happiness lies with each other.
This book also has some great secondary characters that I’d love to read their story such as Carmen and even Katie’s brother Patrick, he played a great part in this book and really helped Katie in ways that only a brother could. They have an amazing relationship that you can’t help but smile while reading their interactions. But with them having their own book you really give them a chance to tell their stories.
I normally prefer to read books that are written in POV’s but this book was captivating and intriguing till the end for that not to matter. Each characters POV, thoughts and feelings could all be felt through the pages, and I never got lost, wondering who’s voice I was reading.
I hope this isn’t the last we could hear from Katie & Bogart. They have a whole future ahead of them that can continue to grow and I would love to read that. Don’t miss this exciting, brilliant and captivating read.
Do Not Disturb by Mary Billiter is a wonderful 5 star story! I was so drawn in to the characters, their lives and the drama surrounding the hotel.
This book was so engaging and had me speed reading to see what was going to happen next. I love that this book was not only romance but had a nicely developed and well thought out story with it. The characters were all very well written and I completely fell in love with Bogart, Katie’s love interest and Patrick, her brother.
I liked Katie’s character, she is very confident and assertive in the business aspect of her life, but when it comes men, and going for her dreams she is very shy and when alcohol is involved a little embarrassing. She did start to grate on my nerves when there is clearly an attractive and wonderful guy wanting to be with her but she chooses TJ, a guy who is in love with some else. Katie ends up making a huge mistake with TJ and threatens a chance with Bogart.
Chris Bogart, or to everyone else Bogart, is a great man. He is about seven years older than Katie, but I could tell he was in love with her from the first time they met. I really enjoyed his character and watching him and Katie take their time showing their true feelings for each other.
Other than watching the relationship with Bogart and Katie, the story was great. Katie’s boss Jimmy sounds like a stand-up man and a world class boss. I liked how even though Jimmy was a salaried employee he rallied with the part time employees to show the media the corporate greed of the hotel.
Overall a fantastic book and worth the read. The secondary characters are also so remarkably written in. Patrick is Katie’s younger brother, he is worth a mention because he is hilarious and very loveable as he always tries to look out for his sister. I would absolutely recommend this book to any romance lover. I can’t wait to check out more by this author.
This book is over the top amazing! I loved it from the first chapter! There were so many great moments in the story. This is my second book by this author. I had read book 2 in this series first, The Escape Clause, and I think I have found a new favorite author! Katie and her antics crack me up! What happened when she was sick in the bathroom. So good! I love her Irish family! She is a quick to think on her feet!
I love love loved the scene where she was going to drunkingly text her brother, Patrick. The stuff in that text...hilarious! Add to that the whole seltzer issue from her Dad and Bogart plus the video of her....hahahaha..I almost peed my pants it was so funny!
The beginning of chapter 15....I was so into it...then BAM! I seriously felt like Katie....disappointment. Good job Mary Billiter! So many emotions were used while reading this from laughing out loud to...yep disappointment. I covered a wide range but it's worth it since I love all the characters in this book!
There is a great cast of characters in this story. Chris Bogart and TJ who are Hot-to-trot love interest, Jimmy one of her bosses, Patrick a fun as all get out brother and a slew of others. Oh I don't want to forget her parents. They were a hoot and added a lot of fun to the story. I loved how they were all integrated into the story but yet each had their own part.
The whole overtime issue with part time employees was a story kinda told as a secondary story. It really involved a lot of the hotel characters and a few others. I really liked TJ near the end of the story. My other action towards him were gagging, panting and Thinking ICK! But he totally redeemed himself in my eyes. He really helped Katie learn to exude some "Confidence" The epilogue was one of my many favorite parts of the book!
Do Not Disturb is the first book in the Resort Romances series. It is a quick read and, thankfully, is not a cliffhanger. I also appreciated that it wasn’t overloaded with over-the-top bedroom scenes. The characters are an eclectic blend which brings depth to the story. This would make a great book to take with you if you are going to have to spend time waiting somewhere.
Katie is out of college and needs a job to start paying bills and get out of her parent’s house. When job interviews at a resort open up, Katie is there bright and early, and one of the first people in line. The interview process tests Katie’s ability to improvise, but she pulls it off and lands a job. Not only is she going to be able to start making her own way in life, she’s also working with two hot guys. Nothing like a little eye candy to keep the days interesting.
Both guys are showing interest, but Katie is having difficulty making a choice. One of the guys pushes all of her hot buttons, but she knows he’s also been seen with one of the other female staff members. The other guy has more of a subtle charm, but he always seems to be there when she needs him. Trying to balance both of them is becoming quite a challenge. And if anything with either one of them goes wrong, she’ll have to deal with the fallout every time she goes to work.
To top off the stress, Katie discovers a document that will directly affect the staff at the resort, and not in a good way. She is faced with a decision to stand up for the staff and possibly lose her job, or to ignore what is going on and look out for herself and her future. At first, she thinks she has months to figure it out, but it turns out that isn’t the case.
No one said adulting would be easy. So many decisions, so little time to make them.

Do Not Disturb by Mary Billiter is the first book within the Resort Romance Series and is a great opener book in this series. Each book within this series can be read as a stand alone book with each story being as different as the last. I love this series and the writing style of Mary Billiter, you just feel like you are living the story with the characters or want to be friends with the characters she writes about.
This book is no different, following the story of Katie from the start there is fireworks so you are set up from the beginning for a great read and story. Katie needs a job, so she goes to a mass employment drive for a new hotel in the OC area. At the beginning she is put into a group of ten people and they have to do a mass exercise and Katie steps up to the mark. Once in this group she has strong feels for two of the handsome men with in the interview group but she thinks nothing of it.
As the story goes on Katie gets the job within HR just as she wanted but when she discovers a document that puts the staff at a disadvantage, her consistence will not let her rest and she then stirs up trouble and it goes national. At these she has made a decision in her work life but her love life creates more turmoil.
I love the wacky nature of Katie and the smooth characters of TJ and Chris has me wondering who would I choose. The story is a great current topic and I loved the way the story flowed all the way through but too be fair I would not expect anything else from this writer. I can't wait to read the next instalment in this great series.
In the first book, Do Not Disturb, of author Mary Billiter’s Resort Romance series we meet the effervescent and quirky Katie Flanagan. Katie is a recent college graduate who has come to the conclusion that working at a radio station isn’t for her, but she just bought a new car and needs to pay for it. So Katie does what any enterprising young woman does, she goes to a mass hiring event at an upscale hotel in her hometown of San Diego. While working at the hotel Katie comes in contact with some colorful characters among which are Bogart and TJ, the two guys who she finds herself attracted to, Carmen, the hotel valet and Jimmy, one of Katie’s bosses. But this story isn’t only about Katie it’s also about the employees of the hotel that are being shafted by management and what lengths Katie and her friends are willing to go to help their fellow employees. Although I found the beginning of the book had a tendency to drag once I got a couple of chapters into it I found that it was an enjoyable story with lifelike characters. The story was very good with a strong set of main and secondary characters and the story line jived with what goes on in corporate America on a daily basis. I enjoyed Katie’s romance with both TJ and Bogart, I am positive she ended up with the perfect guy for her, I loved the little bit of angst with her romantic life; it gave the story more substance. This tale had me laughing as well as welling up from time to time and I look forward to the next in this series.
Do Not Disturb (Resort Romances #1) by Mary Billiter was a fun, drama filled, romantic read, with just the right amount of comedy to have me laughing out loud.
The first book in the Resort Romances series, I was a little shocked that I didn't start with this book. In fact I read Rule Breakers first. Do not fear, these books can be read as stand alone's. But this book is the opener and in truth I wish I would have started with this one. It's set the stage, painted the picture and gave me that much needed background that I missed, from reading out of order.
This book like the others that follow, was well written, the characters are well developed and the story its self wasn't totally centred around the love story. There were sub plots, and teamwork, but most of all, the stories main plot wasn't over shadowed. I was drawn into the story, the world. It felt almost real, like this wasn't just a story but someone's life.
Now the romance,(fan please) so there is a little love-triangle going one, but I wasn't bother by it. In fact it was quite amusing. Kate is quiet the character. I'm not going to say to much else becuase it will ruin all the good surprises.
My final thoughts. I highly recommend you pick up this series. These rich reads will have you flipping the pages, laughing out loud, and clutching your chest as it rips at your heart strings. This opening book has created the perfect setting for the series, and I'm sure for many more books to come.
Do not disturb by Mary Billiter is a great romantic comedy read. This is my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the writing style was easy to follow, it was well described and attachable to the point you feel like you know the characters. This book takes you away from your day to day life and is a hard one to put down, you get very wrapped up in the story line.
There are times and situations in life when one person needs to take the lead, stand up and fight for themselves and the others around them, especially when there is a hidden truth. Kate is a strong woman.who is in desperate need of a new job, so she attends an employment drive. Katie is split in to a group of ten people, there is something about two of them that takes Kate's fancy but at the time she thinks nothing of it, she needs a job.
Kate gets the job and starts her new chapter, it doesn't take long tho for Kate to find information that affects the employees of the firm. Kate isn't one to let something lie and pursues to show up the firm, before she knows it its national and Kate has a lot on her plate. She is confident on her work and abilities, she is the person who thinks on their feet and always has a response.
If only she was that confident in her love life with two hunky men around, two of them! She isn't as quick to make decisions in this part of her life or commit to one anyway.
