Haunting. Humorous. Harrowing. Those are just some of the words to describe the short stories compiled in this inaugural collection from the international comics collective the Chemistry Set. Founded in 2006, the Chemistry Set has served as the breeding ground for tomorrow's comic all-stars and includes three Xeric Award winners. Combining talents from America, Australia, Europe and Asia, their chemistry together is seen in stories that range from the heartfelt to the horrifying, from the mythological to the macabre.
The ** are for two of the twelve stories and some of the artists' talent scattered throughout but the stories are the species that only a collective desperate to keep its talent would publish. The horror is lost when the story is either too gross, too dumb or nonsensical which most were.
I went for this because of the worldwide roster but the Australian mentioned in the description isn't in this one if there are even any other books in print. Science is completely nonexistent if any Beakers or Bunson Honeydoos are interested in what the atomic formulas (right?) drawn on the cover and "The Chemistry Set" imply.
What a tragedy for anyone who spent the $17+tax- I was lucky to get away with only wasting $1.57.
One of hopefully many collections of stories collected from the Chemistry Set group. This anthology collects some of the webcomics from the group. I've got a strip in there with Tony Goins.
