An endless cycle, I need a man to take my body on a daily basis.
It’s the only thing that keeps my head clear and numbs the unbearable pain of withdrawal.
I don’t know why I’m wired this way, I just am.
I know what some people say... what they think I am. But they’ve never been in my shoes, never tried to tame this beast inside me.
I gave up trying to control the cravings a long time ago, now I embrace them. It’s why I don’t do relationships.
Then he came along with his wicked smile and captivating blue eyes and screwed everything up.
For the first time in my life, I find myself wanting more from a guy who looks at me like he wants to claim me. A man who most definitely will not be okay with sharing.
I want him over and over again, not because my body demands it, but because I can’t live without him.
I have a new addiction.
Colt Maverick.
Will he be enough to satisfy my sex junkie desires?
Alex Grayson is the bestselling author of heart pounding, emotionally gripping contemporary romance including the Jaded Series, the Consumed Series, and two standalone novels. Her passion for books was reignited by a gift from her sister-in-law. After spending several years as a devoted reader and blogger, Alex decided to write and independently publish her first novel in 2014 (an endeavor that took a little longer than expected). The rest, as they say, is history.
Originally a southern girl, Alex now lives in Ohio with her husband, two children, two cats and dog. She loves the color blue, homemade lasagna, casually browsing real estate, and interacting with her readers. Visit her website, www.alexgraysonbooks.com, or find her on social media!
Always Wanting (now retitled Sex Junkie) introduces us to a circle of friends who have embraced their sexual perversions/addictions. Having spent years trying to 'fix' themselves, they now act as a support network for each other. Although unorthodox, it allows them to live as normally as possible when the rest of society would view them differently.
"The ones that think just because it may be something they aren’t into, then it’s wrong and disgusting. The judgemental assholes of the world.
The ones that would look at me with revulsion and label me as a freak."
This book is about Abby who suffers from a hypersexual disorder. We first meet Abby who is constantly trolling for men. Her sex addiction is forefront and without sex daily, the withdrawal symptoms are crippling. Even though there is so much more to Abby, she forms no personal attachments as most men wouldn’t understand her condition. But when she meets Colt, her carefully built world begins to unravel.
"Give me your lips," I growl. The need to taste her is overwhelming.
"No. I don’t kiss the men I sleep with." Her voice may sound strong, but there’s an underlying hint of vulnerability as well.
"Why the fuck not?"
She shakes her head, before bringing her weary eyes back to mine. "Because it’s too personal."
Colt is perplexed by Abby. She is essentially the kind of woman he steers away from. Yet after a one-night stand that blows his mind, he is questioning his initial impressions. He knows there is a missing piece to this puzzle especially when Abby insists on shutting him out. Except how is going to handle the truth, when he can’t walk away?
"Her smell intoxicates me. She may be addicted to sex, but I’m addicted to her, and I don’t want to be cured of it."
Somehow these two try and navigate a relationship together, something that is completely foreign to Abby. Where Colt believes he can be everything Abby needs, she on the other hand is waiting for that blow that will end them. The one where she will need to look elsewhere for sex when Colt can’t be there.
"I’m sorry," she says tearfully. "I just can’t take that chance. I can’t take the chance of one day hurting you like that. My body isn’t built for only one man, even if I desperately want it to be."
Sex Junkie was refreshingly different, high on steam and seriously tugged on the heartstrings. Abby was so different to what we first got presented. Dictated by a sex drive that doesn’t allow her to feel or live, you spend most of this book wondering how a ‘normal’ relationship could ever work. Yes, there is lots of sex in this story, but the raw emotions kept it balanced. I couldn’t have picked a better hero then Colt, who tried all avenues to make this work. I am delighted that this author presented a different form of love and what the power of acceptance can accomplish. 🔥🔥
None of us is the picture, but that's not the point ;-)
Wait, Leonor just said she were the one with the dog, Kiki loves flowers, and where does it leave me??? I don't even like green… shoes…
This book was my idea… Yep. Apart from being the one with green shoe fetish, I’m also a proud slutty member of our weird collaboration. It’s not even a bit offensive, why hide the truth? I mean Kiki was, is and always remains the psychopath to our merger, so why shall I complain?..
After reading 46783 books with the same heroine but with different names in a different stage of her innocent life, we decided to kick romance’s as…. aspect and to choose completely opposite of our Ms Yespleasemore and to read a book with extremely experienced heroine.
Great idea, less great execution. We all found the extent of heroine’s sex addiction incl her bodily cravings OTT exaggerated. Sorry, if we are mistaken, but the level of her withdrawals was unnaturally implausible. It’s like they borrowed some stuff from the paranormal aka phantasy. We can imagine her to crave it weekly (but maybe not daily), but still be able to help herself with some medications, therapy etc. Because if we do the math one day, and I personally lodge a protest, then she should have slept with thousands of men during those 8 years.
We all absolutely hated her friends. None of them, especially Ava, will be ever a character we want to read about. Call us hypocrites, but we don’t want to read about another manwhore and a woman, who slut-shamed everything with a feminine touch.
Overall the book was an interesting experience. How often do they give us an opportunity to read about a woman, who wasn’t celibate after meeting her ‘mate’ and not to be on the receiving end of the stupidest line ever: boy will be boys. We call BS: girls can be boys too ;-)
The hero was meh, after Leonor slapped him and Kiki showed him the hardness of her knee cap, he apologised for being a judgemental jerk and calling her names; but still managed to make us mad by sleeping with the heroine while she was under Valium. And again, we are not experts in sex-addiction, but we are also not the celibacy-junkies, so it’s up to you how to judge this situation. Leonor and Kiki say it was rape, Alex is pending.
We wished for plausible solving of her problem, because their attempts to heal her cravings didn’t show much effect, in our opinion. We thought, what if he needed to go on a business trip for a while? Family emergency? Impotence??? Life happens…
Sweet epilogue, still felt like a HNF to us.
Kiki’s rating – 1 star Leonor’s rating – 1 star Alex’s rating – 2-2.5 stars
Average rating – 1.5 stars. Since I was thrown a challenge to express our thoughts in a polite matter (yep, let not a native-speaker do the job, girls!!!), I rounded it to 2 stars, coz fuck-you-double-standards and… green shoes!
Disclaimer After finishing the reading, we found out that the whole premise of sex addiction seem implausible to us, because it was exactly that: implausible. The author added a disclaimer that none of these symptoms are taken from real life, she “tried” to do her research however it was a difficult research so she decided to go with her imagination on this book. So Kiki found it extremely hard to find any sympathy towards a hypothetical illness (not that Sex addiction is hypothetical, but heroine’s one IS in fact hypothetical). We agreed that if you’re going to write a book about an illness, please ensure ample amount of research is conducted and correct information is reflected in the book. Otherwise it is insulting to the Real Life patients. It’s like you’re mocking their everyday suffering by claiming things that are untrue . Kiki being the judgemental bitch, thinks that was misrepresentation of information (I.e. lying in fancy words) and a simple disclaimer with “this is a work of fiction” isn’t gonna cut it. She will be very upset if we replace the word with “sex addict” in this book with “cancer patient” and claim it’s a work of fiction, I’m sure other people would mind too.
Abby is a sex addict. For her, sexual activity provides an intense, intoxicating euphoria or “high” while lacking any genuine emotional connection, intimacy, or love. It’s a temporary escape. Her frequent one-night stands with strangers or her three best friends who are different types of sex addicts feed her addiction but leave her feeling cheap and lonely. Her wants are suppressed for a short time and then her desires are back in full force. Until she meets one particular man, Colt, and her life slowly starts to turn around. Colt and Abby both can’t seem to get the other out of their minds. Can Abby overcome her issues to see what life could be like with Colt? This book was awesome. The banter, the angst and the build-up were all in perfect proportion. If you're expecting a sweet hearts and romance read, you can stop right now. This book is nothing short of a gritty, dirty, sexy as hell read. Abby and Colt’s relationship has been such an explosive one from the beginning. Everything about their connection is extreme – from their sexual escapades to their feelings for one another and it is awesome! You will enjoy every dirty and enticing moment with this spectacular couple.
This is not the type of book I would typically read as the heroine has a sexual addiction. To me sexually addiction and romance do not mix much less the fact that I do not want to read about the heroine and/or hero having sex with OP after being with each other. However I am glad that I read it and the main reason was because of the hero Colt.
SPOILERS INCLUDED BELOW
While Cole is not perfect, to me he is the ideal hero. He was crazy about the heroine Abigail, willing to do anything for her. He was a strong man, one able to be with someone like Abby. It takes a special person willing to be with someone with a sexual addition and Cole is.
Before I read the story I was afraid that the hero was either going to have sex with OP in retaliation if the heroine had sex with OM after they were together or be accepting of her being with OM, neither of which was ok with me. There was no way I wanted the hero to be screwing OW. Never cool to me. Also while some readers maybe fine with it, I do not want the hero to accept that the heroine is going to have sex with OM. I want the hero to want the heroine solely for himself regardless of the fact that she has an addiction and that was the way Cole was.
She meets and has sex with Cole and rejects him afterwards, afraid that he will not want her when he finds out about her addiction. The next day she has sex with one of her friends, when she cannot find a man. It is told to the reader after the fact, not shown. The day after that, Abby is fooling around with OM in a bar with the intent to have sex with him, when Cole, who had been looking for her, finds her and stops her. When he finds out that she has a sexual addiction, he tells her that he is not going anywhere but that it is not acceptable for her to be with OM. He will take care of all of her needs. When he realizes that she has sex with her two male friends Cole reacts with jealousy and possessiveness, which I always love. He takes care of her needs on a nightly basics, telling her that he will make sure that she never needs OM. When Cole is not able to make it to her place to do so, their relationship is tested.
I had a hard time believing Abby's sexual addiction as the author portrayed it. I understand that people have sexual addictions. I have read and heard about people who have had them. What I had a hard time accepting is that fact that Abby is in physical pain if she does not have sex. She shivers and shakes. She has cramps and pain to the point that she is incapacitated if she does not have sex nightly. It is like she is an alcoholic going through detox. The way it was portrayed seemed like the paranormal animal shifter books that I have read where the paranormal woman goes into heat, that if she does not have sex she is in hell, like giving birth that does not stop and there is a possibility that she could die. Other elements also added to my doubts includes that Abby cannot get relief unless she comes and cannot do so by her own hand. When she meets Cole and has been this way since she has become sexually active. Also why is it always at night that she must have sex by? The audience was told that about how the need builds but what if she has sex in the morning with Cole? Could that not make her last until the next day? Is it a 24 hour thing?
At the end of the story the author reveals that she has not read an exact case like Abby's, which made more sense to me. It also means that there was a little bit of fantasy mixed in with the story. Regardless of the fact that is is not all real, it was still a good story.
SAFETY INFO: Abby has a one night stand prior to meeting Cole. Briefly described. Abby has sex with a friend the day after having a one night stand with Cole. It is not described but merely told after the fact. Also when Cole is not able to come to her one night, after they have started a relationship, she starts to fool around with the same friend but stops it. Cole is completely faithful to her. He never strays. The story includes flashbacks of sexual abuse. Also this story contains an excess amount of sex so it is not for everyone.
This story tugged at my heart strings. We meet Abby who’s this kick ass girl who owns her disorder. She has a hyper sexuality disorder. Always at war with her body. She’s perfected the craft of “Wham Bam, thank you sir”. That is until she meets Colt who just makes you fall in love. It was thrilling reading them tackle such an important part of their relationship. I highly recommend this to my friends who are interested in finding something new.
IF you can’t find research material in google’s page 1, there are other ways to do research. Hell! Find a fucking support group, be upfront and interview them!
It’s like you went to google, couldn’t find shit and gave up!
Things were NOT resolved in any understandable way, CAUSE it sounds like YOU DON’T FUCKING KNOW HOW TO AS NONE OF THE SHIT IS REAL!
Another thing I found insulting about the disclaimer:
You wrote it because you find sex addicts “interesting”.
Imagine walking up to a cancer patient who lost half his hip in the surgery and tell them: I find you cancer patients “interesting”.
Then you go “Now I’m going to write a book about you and I’ll not add any substantial research to it and I’ll not take in account your actual sufferings and personal experience or opinions”.
How does that one sound?

Wow! Talk about embracing outside of one's comfort zone! I honestly did not know what to expect when I began this journey. My taste in genres range from dark mafia to erotic horror with very little room for leeway. With that I wasn't sure how to approach Always Wanting.
Let me assure you rather minimum or maximum preparation, Abby's journey will slay you. I've never had a personal experience with addiction of any kind. I've never experienced empathy for those with addictions because I've felt it's a personal choice one made to insert a needle or inhale poison. Although Abby's addiction is not drug related, her addiction is no less horrible. In her case it's not a choice and it's humbling to witness the complete and utter HORROR and helplessness she feels because she cannot control it. Grayson did a phenomenal job of incorporating Abby's addiction and finding her pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. His name is Colt. He is everything she thought she could never have. Together their journey is a tough one but well worth the ride!
I'm profoundly grateful for the opportunity this story provided in opening my eyes to a more realistic POV where addictions are concerned. This story is definitely an eye opener and worth reading regardless of your preferred genre!
I knew going in that the h is a sex addict. But once I started reading it, that was not the case. She experiences physical pain if she does not have sex daily. So for the past 8 years, EVERYDAY she has sex with a stranger. While hypersexuality is real what the h has is not a real disorder. Plus, there are definite drugs that could help alleviate the symptoms if it was real.
I was looking for an Alexa Riley replacement but with a full novel (no novella). Always Wanting is about the Heroine addicted to sex. She actually goes through withdraws if she doesn’t have sex once a day.
It was a good book to pass the time. There were some slow moments which I skimmed and a lot of descriptive writing which I skimmed. I was more interested with her interactions with the Hero (duh) and sometimes her friends which they will have their own books.
UNSAFE • heroine not celibate after fucking the hero 😎
This series is about a group of friends who used to be a part of a sex support group. The heroine is addicted to it, Tegan, the hero from the second book likes to do it in front of other people and Nathan from the third book enjoys voyerism. There is also Ava who can only have sex when she is role playing something. They have sex with each other but not because they are into each other, but because of their sexual needs. They kinda of have each other backs to fulfill their sexual needs.
Heroine is addicted to sex and the book opens at a scene of her fucking some random guy. She has sex every night and tries not to repeat the partner, whenever she can’t find someone she calls her best friend Nathan, the hero for the third book, or even Teagan, the hero for the second book to fuck her because she needs it.
If it was the other way around I would have never touched this book, but I’m a hypocrite and I like sex with other men sometimes. I don’t consider it cheating, because they had a one night stand and after that when they tried dating she is totally clearly about not being able to control herself, she literally has to take pills to sleep otherwise she suffers in pain, puke, has fevers, tremors, a reals withdrawal so when she almost fuck Nathan I didn’t call her a cheater because she stoped it, she told him before that she can’t be trusted and he was the one who wanted to try. Again, if it was the other way around I would have hated it. 😏
The hero is experienced but heroine has had way more sex than him and I know she is sick, but I like the premise of the book.
I like my heroines experience and the girl already did many things, she had threesomes with two guys and with one guy and one woman, I like that. There isn’t any mention of anything she hasn’t done other than sex bare, she only does it with the hero which is nice, let the guy feels special. She never let the guys stay over after having sex either.
Hero fucks her when she is under the influence of Valium, people said it was rape, I honestly to god don’t know what to think about it. He isn’t a rapist imo, but by definition what he did was rape. Anyway, I could get over it and I got hot reading the scenes, call me a freak.
Heroine is not celibate after fucking the hero, she had sex with her friend Nathan. She is addicted and she suffers from withdrawals if she doesn’t have sex every night so that is why he does it the night after fucking the hero. The second night after fucking the hero she is about to fuck some other guy when she arrives at the club and interrupts them. After that there is only the hero, but there is one night she is suffering and the hero is late, she gets sick, she gets super horny as well, she has a fever, throws up and is about to fuck Nathan, she goes as far as taking his cock out of his pants before giving up.
Nathan is her best friend and he is his back up call whenever she can’t find a partner to fuck for the night. I don’t like the fact he is fucking her and going out with Tegan to share someone with him or simple watch cause his deal is voyerism because he already is watching his own heroine having sex.
Triggers: heroine was raped for six months when she was 13 by the guy she used to have a crush on, there wasn’t penetration.

I rarely come across fiction books that speak on sex addiction. I did not even know this was a thing because typically the “drugs” we know associated to addiction are mostly substances. So this book was really insightful. Abby’s pain felt so real whenever she was withdrawing, and we see how much her body’s dependency on sex affecting her life. She did not view intimate relationships as a choice for her. And then we meet Colt :)
The only times I've encountered sexual addiction was in 2 movies, which were quite brutal in their portrayal- Nymphomaniac (which is approximately 6 hours of craziness with a severely addicted woman) and Shame (where Michale Fassbender is the addict and you can see his massive, Jordan Silver-worthy ****, in case you haven't seen it:) ). In this book, the heroine is the addict and her addiction is quite severe, and although I'm not sure if I completely believed it, I still think it was pretty well portrayed. I won't be rehashing the plot as the main parts are well covered in the blurb, just some thoughts. I really liked it, but the reason why I didn't love it, is that it was a bit too rushed. It was too short and everything happened much too quickly in my opinion. But I loved the hero and the heroine, I loved the hero's devotion from almost the beginning and I liked that the heroines' problems weren't solved instantly. Safety: Now I think I'm going to see if I can find any pictures of Michael Fassbender naked...
Not claiming to know much, AT all, but I feel this book slightly romanticised the problems pertaining to the disorder. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt because this is fiction but I get the feeling that the author doesn’t know very much.
I read this book purely based on the concept. I’ve ended up reading tons of books where there’s been OW activity (which I have truly come to hate) so I thought why not try the shoe on the other foot...not that theres equity, but safety is safety. I have to say I didn’t like it. I used to get a kick out of it when there was OM activity as some sort of vindication after all the crappy OW books but now I just don’t have the patience or want for it. The hero is earnest and seems like male personified. His original slut shaming comments when they weren’t in a relationship weren’t exactly favourable, but I moved on because he seemed to regret it. So even if we go by definition of this being an illness it doesn’t make the reality of the situation any more palatable or acceptable.
Heroine has hypersexual disorder. She needs sex to function daily; the evenings are when she’s most hit with the urge. If she denies herself, she gets “addict like withdrawals” - sweaty, tense, pale, nauseous, jitters, body pain, writhing etc etc. I don’t think these symptoms are true to the level they were portrayed so to speak.
We open up with a one night stand OM sex scene. She has two male best friends she has a FWB relationship with and they tend to her urges if need be. She has threesomes including FMF, has participated in voyeurism and exhibitionism in a club she frequents with her friends.
It’s a ptsd induced disorder. When she was in her early teens, she was sexually abused for seven months.
So I googled this condition to see how much truth there is to it, and then read up on some reddit stories. No not the bastion of reliable research but whatever.
According to the NHS, it’s not a psychiatric disorder or an addiction: “The definition of addiction normally includes an element of physiological dependence. It would be more accurate to describe hypersexual disorder as a type of personality disorder.”
I think that would’ve been a smarter direction to take. To add, it also hasn’t been formally recognised by the medical community; it’s an area of growing research.
Partners that are in a relationship with a person with hyper sexuality can’t keep up. The person needs to orgasm 10-20 times a day, they are consistently masturbating, fantasising, they can have sex up to multiple times a day and I know generally there’s a presupposition that’s this is supposed to be a man’s wet dream but the reality is vastly different in terms of sex drives and compatibility. It even results in sexual discomfort on the man’s behalf.
In this book, she needs it “once” a day. She doesn’t really need toys, masturbation, or porn, just direct penetration. Basically the guy she has the hots for can keep up. It’s manageable. I also read that most people that do have this disorder are largely bi-polar and have manic episodes. They lie consistently, they feel ashamed and guilty, they cheat in every which way. That would have been a more interesting angle to take, and I probably would have upped my rating. If it is managed, then it’s through medication which this book skirted around.
The story went along the lines of a hypersexual woman can be in an exclusive relationship, though it may be tough. I felt meh about it. They found new coping mechanisms without medication (which she was initially on). He has sex with her whilst she’s doped up on Valium, and that definitely felt like dubious consent so I don’t even know how to comment on that.
Moving away from this to the relationship in question: 80% of their conversations are spent on sex or her sexual disorder based on their urgent attraction. Two conversations about his niece, one regarding her family and that was that.
So even if I try to be rational, forgiving and exempt the disorder, the romance itself felt... fickle to me. I don’t get why they like each other. 2* for the interesting experience and semi education.
Safety: No. After seeing him, she sleeps with an OM. After meeting him, she sleeps with an OM. After they have have sex, she sleeps with OM. After they start their exclusive relationship, she doesn’t sleep with anyone, but when he fails to get there for her urges one day, she toes the line - touches one of her FWB’s d*ck.

Welp, taking a gander at the reviews makes it fairly clear that you either love Always Wanting, or in my case, you're left... well, wanting. Ha, see what I did there? Now, I'm not saying this isn't written well, technically speaking. It's fine. But the story itself? Meh. This story has a lot going on, but in the same breath, I feel a little bereft.
Abigail has a sexual addiction. So, yeah, this much I know from the blurb. Got it. She suffers from hypersexuality, which is defined as the obsession with sexual thoughts, urges or behaviors that may cause distress or that negatively affects health, job, or relationships. So yeah, she's got all that (except for the job part, since her pain seems to go away when in the presence of young children - thank heavens). Now, aside from when she attended self-help groups to try "talk it out" therapy, she hasn't done much else to really aid in her own recovery. Essentially, the groups weren't helping, so screw it, let me do some dudes every day. Literally every day. A different guy (mostly - she has said she double-dipped a bit) every night. For eight years. That's 2,920 days. So, she's had sex with... over two thousand men? Roughly? Okay. Even if she uses Nathan as a substitute fairly often, that's still... a thousand men? That is still... a lot. And in all that time, she's had no pregnancy scares, or issues or problems with the men she chooses? Sure, she doesn't state that anything nefarious or unfortunate has happened, but wow. Those are some good odds. And she brings these men to her own house. Self-preservation does not seem high on Ms. Abigail's list of to-do's.
So, yeah. All of that aside, I really don't understand the connection between Colt and Abigail. Sure, it's sweet that he wants to give their relationship a chance. And what a sacrifice he's making. I mean, sex every night? Damn and blast!
...eye roll.
But really though. We see very little of how Colt and Abigail act as a couple when they aren't having sex or discussing the act of having sex or what will happen if they don't have sex. I mean, yeah, I get that Abigail's life truly revolves around it given her addiction, but there's talk about how much they get along and how they cuddle on the couch and... whatever, but as a reader, we don't actually see any of that. So, their declarations of love and how they were fighting so hard to make their relationship work just seemed so hollow.
Another big downer for me, unfortunately, was probably when most readers started oohing and awwing about how sweet and dedicated Colt was.
Can we also go into how much sweating happens in this book? The word sweat was mentioned twenty-six times. Twenty-six! And I'm sure twenty-four of them were attributed to Abigail's profuse sweating while in the throws of sexual withdrawal. I mean, sweating is not inherently a turn on. For me, anyhow. So, if I saw a man at a bar (in my single days, mind you) who was pale, shaking and sweat was dripping from his temples, I think I'd have to give him a hard pass. I don't care how good looking he was. Flu symptoms sorta turn me away. But hey, that's just me.
This book really had me turning the pages, devouring it, embracing the characters and their struggles. Since the book deals with sex addiction, get ready for A LOT of amazing scenes that’ll warm you from the inside out.
The author has taken on a very obscure disease and brought it to the forefront. Hypersexual disorders are not well documented nor are they understood. Some readers may struggle with the content and the choices that they make but consideration needs to be taken to understand the difference between a choice and a physical need.
Once Abby meets Colt, and her body has enjoyed him, she now has a different struggle to contend with. She has never had to fight against what her body needs and wants before. This is a new struggle for her. Will she be able to withstand the temptations when her body is craving the sexual release it needs but Colt is not around? Will Colt embrace her illness and sanction her giving herself to another man to relieve the pain? Is a relationship even possible?
Colt and Abby have an amazing chemistry and their fight to make it work is intriguing. From the moment Colt’s blue eyes landed on Abby, his desire to protect and claim came crashing to the forefront but little did he know the walls he would have to break through to accomplish the task. Abby stopped dreaming of a normal future filled with family, love and commitment many years ago and has resigned herself to her fate. She has turned hard and cold in order to protect herself but “Blue” has found his way in and starts the softening and warming process. Unbeknownst to Abby, he is not giving up easily and does whatever it takes to show Abby he is not going anywhere, he trusts her implicitly and he is the man to fulfill all her dreams.
Written in dual POV, Always Wanting is another awesome read by Alex Grayson. I love her style and her sexual imagination. The heat between Abby and Colt is nothing short of amazing and surrounding all this heat is a real life struggle for some people out there. In the end, not a struggle many would choose for themselves even if it does sound interesting. I enjoyed this book and I believe I’ve learned a bit about an illness I knew nothing about previously. The ending does not leave you hanging, but rather it finishes perfectly, tying up all the loose ends to leave you with a smile.
This was an emotional touching story and was also super hot, and I mean hot. Abby is suffering from a sexual addition and if she doesn't get a man to give her release daily she becomes physically sick and mean deadly sick, so her life definitely revolves around picking up men to satisfy her need nightly but, until Colt/ Blue comes along and changes all that.
Blue/Colt and Abby had some major chemistry and were super hot together. Their relationship was unusual l and highly sexual but, it was also filled with passion and love and understanding. The story was also filled with a ton of emotion and took you on one heck of an emotional roller coaster right along with Abby herself.
I loved the characters right off the bat, they were easy to love and intriguing and passionate and fun. Colt was my favorite in it was kind of hard not to love the man he was kind and understanding and I loved the fact he wasn't turned off by Abby's addition but, wanting to help sooth or even cure her to make her situation a lot better to cope with. You have to love her friends as well, as their love and understanding and friendship they have is astounding.
Overall, we loved this hot read with amazing character's from cover to cover. It was a series that was memorable and will definitely be reading over and over. We just love this author, she gives us an amazing reads each and every time she creates and new story for us to fall in love with her characters each and every time.
Awesome!! Alex Grayson does it again!! Dirty, gritty and highly erotic, this book was hands down a must read. Well written with likeable characters, this unique subject was handled beautifully. Abby is a sex addict, who struggles with the aftermath of loneliness, and feelings of worthlessness after her active participation in her sex addiction. When she meets Colt, he awakens something in her that encourages her to change her ways. Their banter was delicious and their sex scenes were devilishly dirty off the charts. But is their connection only feeding her addiction or the beginning of something else? Can a sex addict truly rehabilitate their ways and find a happily ever after?
So I went into this wanting something smutty to wake me up on Sunday morning. This book was so much more than that. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself getting more into the story and skimming through/zoning out during the sexy scenes. I admired Abby's strength and Colt's tenacity to prove to her that they were meant to be. These two are a couple that I root for all the way!
Sex-addicted heroine? How the hell can I not read this. I was ready for all the angst this book would bring. Sadly, the angst wasn't delivered as much as I had hoped.
The book starts with the heroine banging another guy, you don't see this often, usually, if there is a sex scene from the first page, it's the H, in the receiving end, so this was a welcome different.
I like the H, throughout, he was very tolerant and patient towards the h, despite her hypersexual disorder, he had faith that she wouldn't cheat on him. He was smitten with her at first glance, and usually I dig that, but things seem to progress way too fast.
I felt really bad for the h, she was in so much pain due to her disorder, that she had devout herself from making any close relationship with anyone, except for the ones she met at the support group.
Though I do not know to what extent of the side effect from the deprivation from sex, is true, I have heard many people who had said that the author had tried to exaggerate the side effect to be much worse than it actually is
I had only read one other book where there is a h, that was a sex-addict, and it was called,' Addicted to you.' I felt that book was better in showcasing someone that suffers from the hypersexual disorder. It also was able to deliver the angst that I seek.
On the bright side, the sex scenes were amazingly written here, which is what was lacking in 'Addicted to you.'So that's always a huge bonus for me.I think it's not far off to say that this book could be categorised under erotic novel.
This story deals with addiction – fighting to stay in control – fighting to not want – fighting to do what is right instead of what you want – fighting to not claim what you crave – the addiction in a sexual manner. Yes – a sex addict. And her name is Abigail Summers.
Just with any other addiction Abigail needs to fulfill her cravings daily – sometimes more than once. Her nerves go on edge, her mind goes into a tail spin and functioning becomes almost impossible. The struggle is something real and its something that people don’t understand. Its taboo. Its not like drug or alcohol which is somehow accepted … its sex. Having a relationship is almost impossible. Its not that she cant love its that if the man she is with isn’t around she knows she will find the man next door.
Colt Maverick is not the man to cure her addiction but the man to feed it. He is changing everything about all she thought and knew. But can this man who wants to keep her to himself actually pull the reigns in on her and keep her all to himself. Feeding her makes you more hungry right???
This story was frustrating to say the least. I cant say I know or understand this type of addiction but if its this frustrating no thanks! I was livid with Abagail at times and wanted her to just stop … I seriously was yelling at my kindle and several times had to walk away because I was so angry. Emotion is good but Im not sure about that much .. LOL!
I was for sure on the fence on this one between 3.5 and 4 stars. I gave it 4 stars because of the writing. Alex has written two great characters as far as writing goes. There are no parts that don’t fit .. there are no parts that seem odd or strange and the tribe of friends is good. Secondary characters are important as we know. Those things over-rode the infuriating parts. HA!
I am really anxious to read more from Alex as I loved the way the story flowed. This one is a rough read or was at least for me AGAIN in the sense of I wanted to just beat the hell out of Abagail. Thank you for making me want to chunk my kindle Alex! I look forward to more!
Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
WOW. The author has written an amazing book that deals with Hypersecual Disorder while at the same time giving the reader an awesome story (which by the way is a Real Disorder). This story will tug at your heartstrings at all the things Abby and her friends have endured. But it will also warm your heart at the lengths Abby's friends and Colt, the guy that wants to be her one and only, are willing to to help her. The characters are so well written that you will feel every ounce of pain and every moment of love and joy these characters feel. I highly recommend Abby and Colt’s story. This couple will grab you from the start and have you rooting for any kind of path that Abby's disorder and history will allow them to share together, if that is even possible.
2 Thumbs Up for a sensational book that you truly do not want to miss.
PS: If the author takes suggestions I would LOVE to see a books with Abby’s friends and their disorders as well. What an intriguing group of friends Abby has.
Every time I think I have read the best that Alex has got, she surprises me with another best. This book deals with sexual addiction and while I don't necessarily know how Abby felt dealing with it physically, Alex used her words to bring us right into this story...to show us exactly how Abby was feeling while going through what she went through. And Colt...can there even be a better specimen of a man? How will Colt deal with the exact nature of Abby's addiction....Will he run? Will he stay? Will he have fun while he can? Will he go the distance? I am totally in love with the characters in this book and totally want more in what I hope will be a GREAT series!
I didn't even know that hypersexual Disorder was a real thing so I googled it......its her much real! The way Alex has written this book is amazing. The emotions Abby suffers the need and pull of a mans touch the highs and lows, the pain Abby feels and I can't even imagine the feeling. Wow just simply wow.
This is the first book I have read for Alex Grayson and it will not be my last. I will with out a doubt recommend this book and author. I can't wait to read more of Alex's work.

Intriguing never read anything like it before I mean a girl who is addicted to sex. P.s it's really different from Lily from Addicted to you who also happens to be addicted to sex. So if you wanna read this book go in with the mind set of not expecting it to be like the book addicted to you. All in all I loved it and will probably re-read it.
Always Wanting is the story about two soul mates who find each other.
Abby suffers from a hypersexual disorder and needs the touch of a man daily or she experiences severe pain. She's seen doctors and she's tried support groups, but in the end Abby tries to handle her condition on her own. Well not really on her own. Her best friends Ava, Tegan and Nathan met at a support group and all suffer from the same disorder, each with different symptoms. The four of them look out for each other and are very protective of their friends.
Abby realizes the night she meets Colt that he's different. He's the first guy she has wanted more than a night with, but Abby is afraid Colt will be disgusted by her condition. Colt feels the same pull towards Abby and is willing to do whatever is necessary it keep her. He just has to prove to Abby they can make it work.
I've heard of sex addicts before, but I think this is one of the first books I've read where it's a main part of the story. I can't imagine the pain, vulnerability and other mix of emotions that people with this condition must suffer. There were parts of this story that made me so sad and I was glad that Colt was such a strong and determined character for Abby. I also appreciated how protective the group of friends were especially since they understood the pain each other suffered. Abby and Colt were easy characters to root for and I'm glad they got the ending they deserved.
I received a copy of this book in a giveaway and have volunteered to leave a review. The storyline intrigued me, a woman with an addiction to sex who slept with countless men and could never see herself having a relationship and who had distanced herself from her family due to the shame she felt. Abby may have appeared a weak character to many but to me she was the epiphany of strength. To suffer with an addiction that some would feel she made up and to be made to feel at times that she should be ashamed. To forego normal relationships so in turn living an empty life takes strength and courage. Abby excepts her life as it is until she is knocked off her feet by a stunning guy by the name of Colt Maverick. Their first meeting doesn't go so smooth but there is something between these two, something that makes Abby want to try. Their story is not an easy one and at times had me anxious and gripping my kindle so hard when her addiction was pushed to its limits. You need to take a chance on this book as I promise you it is the ultimate love story. Your heart and soul will be put to the test as you take the journey with them as their relationship tries to handle the pain and devastation this addiction can cause. Their story made me angry, frustrated, sad but ultimately it made me smile. This is a definite five star read. Can't wait to move on to the next book in the series, as I guess you could say I have become addicted and consumed by this series.
