This is a 25K word Below the Surface prequel novella.
Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.
Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!
If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.
I was a lucky girl and got to read this gem early! Thanks again, Elizabeth! I was really surprised that this was a prequel because it felt like the beginning of a full length novel.
It was super cute, super hot, and quick, but it will leave you being for more!! Can't wait to move onto Below the Surface!!
I read Below The Surface when it was released and enjoyed reading about boats and treasure hunts and warm, sunny islands. This is the prequel - the story of Dani and Dylan. Absolutely worth the wait. If you haven't read BTS, read this first and if you have read BTS, read this now. You will not be disappointed.
Between The Tides is a novella prequel to Below the Surface. I loved reading the Below the Surface and I was super excited to read how Dani and Dylan met and fell in love. I love that I get to see them young and with stars in their eyes. I loved getting to see them in young love. I can't wait for more from Ms. Lee!!
Elizabeth Lee returns to The Spindrift with Dylan, Dani, and the rest of the crew in this sweet and satisfying prequel to the On the Gold series. I absolutely adored getting a peek at how Dylan and Dani met and fell in love the first time around. Their inexplicable connection and undeniable chemistry once again had me head over heels and ready to re-read their entire story. While their absolutely electric dynamic felt fantastically familiar, Between the Tides delivered Dylan and Dani’s beginnings with all of the urgency and intensified emotions of young love. Elizabeth Lee’s writing absolutely sparkles, effortlessly reeling me right back into her colorful world of deep-sea salvage and treasure hunting before leaving me to revel in the salty sea air, roaring tides, and glittering promises of this phenomenal series.
Having already read Below the Surface, I loved the depth that this prequel novella gave to the characters. Dani and Dylan’s history added so much heart to their second chance romance and left me even more excited to hear more from the secondary characters in the future. One of the best parts of this novella was getting to know Dylan’s father. He was such a legendary figure in Dani and Dylan’s story that getting to finally experience his unfailing optimism, infectious thirst for adventure, and uncommonly kind heart just made their journey that much more meaningful. Had I not read Below the Surface already, Between the Tides certainly would have had me instantly one-clicking, as it was the perfect taste of this unforgettable duo. Elizabeth Lee expertly balances the sweet and steamy with plenty of sass, intelligence, and exploration, delivering an On the Gold prequel novella that is a true treasure.
Between the tides is the first book of Elizabeth’s that I have read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Between the tides is a prequel to the already released, below the surface. So I have read the prequel before the first book of the series, I guess that will make me enjoy the first book more. When I started this short novella/ prequel, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the story but I did! We get to learn a lot about the characters and what happened to them before the proper love story.

Between The Tides is a short prequel to Below the Surface. I loved that book, but I always wondered how Dani and Dylan met and fell in love since it’s a second chance love story. I loved this prequel. I loved getting to know their pasts. Dani and Dylan are like I remembered them. Dani is determined, strong and passionate. Dylan is protective, little stubborn and smart. He thinks before doing something. Trust me, after reading this novella, you’ll want to know more about them and The Starry Night.
4.5 stars Dani and Dylan are back to tell the tale of how they met. If you've read Below the Surface, you know the former couple get their second chance at love. In Between the Tides, Dani and Dylan fall in love for the first time while trying to find La Noche Estrellada. Although there were several grammatical errors, I thoroughly enjoyed this novella.
It was so so wonderful to get a glimpse of characters we didn't get to meet in Below the Surface, and amazing to dive into what really happened before. Dani and Dylan's story is both heartbreaking and beautiful... this was such a fun read and I loved every word.
